Got any Pi numbers? :D
Man, just when i thought my e6600 was sweet, now Kentsfield. Geez.. don't make me buy one of them.
Gotta be happy with kentsfield - very powerful.
Sweet :woot:
Is there any advantage of 4GB ram? Did you tryed to bench with 2GB?
Any possibility to OC this beast similar to dual core E6700?
What whas that???? A Kentfield?
Did you tke off the IHS? It says "Superman" on the core?
juice off-- Vero powerful chip, the same question: ¿Any advantaje of 4 GB? At least in Cinebench.
that's amazing :o
guess conroe is part of the past now :D
pi numbers are ~ the same as those you'd see on a same frequency conroe, superpi is NOT multithreaded, so it only uses one of the cores :(
with no effort, nor an optimization, I'm in the mid 11s, that's not exceptionnal, but regarding what else this cpu can do, I'm not disappointed...
Here it's 38c (approx 100F), so I can't bench a lot, my garage doesn't have air conditionning, and the cascade doesn't seem to love those sky-high temps.
no idea on the influence of 4GB in benches, I just tried to see if 4 sticks lower the overclocking, but no problem, so I let them in the slots.
next target : 13K 3D06 and 2300 in cinebench, both should be quite easy :D
Nice results, Tyrou. Kentsfield is looking good. Outside temperature where I live is also 38-39C. Not good benching weather. Even with A/C on, it's still warm in my house.
if you are the only 1 with a kentsfield, isn't it normal that you have the wr then?:stick:
I'm not the only one, just look here in XS, and you'll see other guys :stick:
Thanks sierra, I'm now working on watercooling my crossfire, I need lower temps :D
Amazing 3dmark06 cpu score:slobber:
ah were? :DQuote:

I see the FSB issue is a bit of a pain, maybe some mods will sort that out for you?
It's encouraging to see this as my Kentsfield is on it's way and I was going to wait for the MSI powered up to land - this looks like it could help me in the short term.
Would you say this board is good for running kentsfield overclocked 24/7? Any specific issues regards heat?
Cheers
Mav
this motherboard with the current bios revision doesn't make kentsfield work properly, only half of the L2 cache is seen by the bios, and fsb limit around 275 is a mess, but i don't worry, i'm sure they'll fix this with a new bios :)
You need to change your mobo. Intel D975XBX is hard to oc with kentsfield.
So go for the Asus P5W DH (fully modded)? or the 965 Asus?
Maybe the best boards available until the powered up edition from MSI is released retail.
Cheers
MAv
I think Andre likes the P5B for Kentsfield. ;) I'm curious why you think MSI will be the best. Because of coolaler's results? He's gotten great results with his MSI board. But that's just one person.
Nice chip, nice scores. Have fun with it :woot:
I need a 975X based board, I'll probably try the P5WDH ou the DFI (O'd like to try the MSI, but it's harder to get :D)
You're totally right Andre, overclocking with a motherboard that do not allow a fsb higher than 275 and which has max actual vcore of 1.54V is a PITA ...
sweeet tyro
is 975XBX > any other boards in OCing (with mods and everything )
