you guys are absolutely bonkers. I think I'd wait a few weeks and save a few hundred dollars... That's like a month of work at $7.50/hour.

BTW, if you haven't cancelled your "pre-order" yet I highly encourage you to do so. You'll be pissed when you're waiting for yours to arrive when Newegg has 1000 in stock and shipping at MSRP.

or basically I should honestly encourage those who wanna C2D get the cpu from Ebay?;)
I pre ordered mine from a store I well know and buy 50% of my computer stuff from. All I want with a pre order, is having the first batch that will be shipped in Canada (and 95% of the time, they are the first store to have stock of the new stuff). I also paid the retail price (ie: same price as Pentium D 950 right now..)
It's probably true that many resellers have them "in stock". But if they can't ship the CPU's until the release date, they should say that up front.
Also I would be careful ordering from some of the smaller resellers. If they don't use good SSL encryption on their sites, someone could easily steal your credit card information.
The following is a direct copy and paste from the East Luna website:
To our surprise, the warehouse got these CPU's in stock early. Hey, we couldn't believe it either, but they were in stock. However, they did mess up on the stock count. They told us they had 12 of these in stock, so we put our customer’s orders in first to avoid any problems. Then they turn around and say they only could give us 3 because of a stock error. Thinking of our customers, let's just say we were VERY upset about this, and we will leave it at that. Foul language wasn't exchanged, but they should have been a little more careful seeing that a lot of customers were waiting for this CPU to be released.
Therefore, for the first 3 customers, your orders will ship out today. Tracking numbers will be sent to you later and will also be stored in your customer account.
So it appears that 3 people may be very lucky and receive their order very soon!
huh here is the mail I got today:
Quote:
It looks like our supplier screwed us on this one. They said they had
12 of the Intel Core 2 Extreme E6800 Retail Box Processors in stock,
then they turn around on Monday and said they could only give us 3 of
them. Then they said they don't know when they would get them back in
stock.
Sketchy...
They're spouting off two different POVs.
jedi master is right about that, none of them are relible but BB, so if you are in that hurry, go BB;)
That's what I can say now:D
ha, eastluna is stupid to post that. if intel gets wind of retail sales before annoucement they may never receive direct pricing and early shipment from them again.
