But nice work VictorWang! :)
Its not quad core CPU. There are two dual core CPUs in dual socket mobo.Quote:

When will 4x4 be available?
Will this make 4x4 look crude by comparison?
What will be cheaper?
Thanks.

What sort of temps does this run at?
Also - will it overclock on current boards?
Any mods recommended for say an ASUS PW5?
There is every possibility I will acquire one of these if it clocks okay under R507 mach with chilly head.
Cheers

It ascends very well to be a micro of 4 nuclei :D
Core 2 Xtreme should never be much more than $1300 online
The Kentsfield will not cost more than Core 2 based on historic data, Intel have never made desktop chips more expensive than $1000 at disti cost.
"The E6700, which is a 2.67GHz chip with 4MB of cache and a 1066 front side bus will cost $529 while the E6600, a 2.40GHz version will cost $315. The other two members of the Intel Cointreau family have 2MB of cache apiece, with the E6400 (2.13GHz) costing $240, while the E6300 (1.86GHz) will cost $210." Disti costs as reported by the inquirer - you should never pay much more than 20% above that.
They've got to push past $1,000 at some point. You're essentially getting a Xeon 5130ish.Quote:

You could say they're way overpriced, but if you want something exclusive...
Thats because these are ES chips that are not for resale, selling/buying them is not technically legit. Of course when they are not launched and very rare they cost a lot more.Quote:

Initial samples of Kentsfield are 2.4ghz - a pair of 2.4 Core 2 Duo is only $630 - kentsfield has only one package and would therefore cost less to make than a pair of Core 2 Duo.....why should it end up costing over $1000?
