Ok.
good. now i have started to mess with my RAM and timnings bur what is best. tight timnings or high ram speed.
Since i have value ram they cant go 1/1 with the fsb
Right now i am using 133 mhz divider and the ram is running 171 mhz at these timnings:
2,5:2.2.5
super pi time is 32.374 sec.
should i set the divider to the 5/6 and use loose timnings instead?
The chip you have, like mine is a failed dual core chip that has been labelled a 3700+. It's actually a Toledo core, hence the E6 stepping. Mine is a 0542VPMW, which according to the previous owner did 3.2Ghz under a MachII at 1.65V.
However, I am not even attempting to OC the chip at the moment because of the high ambient temperatures (it's 30 degrees plus in London at the moment) that are causing high CPU temps. During web browsing last night, my chip was at almost 50 degrees!
What you need to do is keep your RAM as close to 200Mhz as you can using the dividers and run tight timings because you are using value RAM.
I had a E6 revision 3700+ (tray) last week and it didn't even go 2,6GHz at 1,55V with Zalman CNPS7700-Cu. It just wasn't prime stable. I returned it and ordered a E4 revision boxed version of 3700+. It should arrive tomorrow.
There's some types of value ram which will run along pretty nice. My old G.Skill for example did 254Mhz @ 2.5-4-3-6 and if i knew what I know now about tweaking ram I could have gotten 260Mhz out of them as well I think.Quote:

I do not set high requirements for stability (such ad prime stable for 20 hours or so) as long as i can play my favorite games for about 10 to 12 hours, i am happy.
I have a litle better temps now. Now the load temp is at max 52 degrees. I have set my zalman cooler directly to the motherboard instead of the small fan control box. But now it makes ALOT of noise. fans running at MAX all the time. Sounds like a Jet engine :P
