Production costs are virtually nothing these days compared to R&D

In light of new info from dailytech provided by Ubermann...estimated prices on upcoming chips have been changed and first post now includes the soon-to-be prices.

I for one am not at all excited about 3800+ X2 going against Conroe for obvious reasons. Old Slow tech vs New pwnage tech....just because the prices are similar ??

So is AMD making 65nm cores for Socket 939 as well?? And if so, will those be made at the same time and sold in Q4 2006?

I really hope so, if they do I'll definately pick up a new 65nm dual core X2, but if it's only for AM2... I may have to jump ship... :(

Notice all the 1mb(per core) x2 chips prices aren't changing... Infact, if I'm reading that correctly, the 1mb(per core) x2's are going bye bye. Considering on the products with no price change they just put the same price as the updated price, but for those chips they list nothing.

Digitimes reporting that the price cuts will not be that high

Looks like AMD is trying to decide how much they want to bleed and are having internal arguments on the best amount to cut. They're trying to guess the availability of the Conroe on the market and popularity also.

How have AM2 shipments been doing recently ..anyone know ?

In regards to Dell taking all the Conroes I doubt they will to be honest. OK, their top end will, but I think they are more interested in really really cheap chips to improve their margins just for people who buy the $399 internet browsing and WordProc machines.

how would a 3800x2 or 4200xt hold up with some VX@260(2-2-2-x) ? I'me really diggin one of these ...should be right around my first paycheck of the summer :)

damn was hoping for some dual core price cuts

but those special deals look to have been passed onto in Australia now
3500+ sells for roughly what the 3000+ sold here a few weeks ago

To me, this price drop means: sell your chips while they are still worth something!

Not a bad idea; Sell off your higher end 939 or AM2 chip on ebay now, let the price cuts come in, buy back at a discount, profit:)

Why not sell off all your S939 stuff now and then later use the money for AM2 or Conroe...
Or you could just enjoy your parts now and upgrade later.. Because I don't know about you but If I don't get to play WZ21 at half settings.. there is no way in heck I'm going to be remotely happy with that computer

here in portugal AMD prices already went down :


x2 3800 = 160€

san diego 3700 = 135€

venice 3500 = 110€

venice 3800 = 150$
