You are right, that is precisely what I demonstrate with my post, when the CPU does not strangulate the video card, these 7950 GX2 can demonstrate its full potential :)

There is already a 7950GX2 water block annouced - it's made by german company - Aqua-computer - here is a photo

i dont have the resources for anything more xtreme than water but im liking the price point of this 7950gtx so i wanted to know if there is any WB that can fit inside.... thanks for the pic pedro

has anybody else noticed that this 7950 stuff is a bit...well.... cheap? i mean... for all we know, ati could come along with ye olde R520 and slap it onto a single PCB (R520 for power draw, wouldnt want dual R580 on a single pcb without it having powerline cables in it) and murder the 7950's.

the reason i call it cheap is, they claim it to be the worlds fastest single card. its 2 cards, glued together somehow, this strikes me as 2 cards correct?

however although im a AMD/ATi fanboy... those are some nice scores.... makes me...sick.

Great job.

Looks as though even if the Nvidia chipset is a dog like the last one - then there is some excellent single card action to be taken away.

The XE CPU, phase cooled with GX2 card could be a brilliant (power friendly, single card) alternative to ATI crossfire.

The waterblock looks good enough to get a bit more from the CPU's too (when are the volt mods coming out??)

Nvidia's big challenge is to make the G80 faster than this in single card :)

Well I guess the correct term is dual GPU, single slot solution.

The very fact that this can be accomodated in the new shuttle systems will make it a very attractive value proposition for those who desire GPU power, with out SLI/Crossfire or the associated noise/power issues.

Were those benchies standard with no LOD/detail tweaks and ran in one go??

Need say i m surprised by the price of the 7950GX2 here too.. i will talk in Euro and in CHF ( Swiss money.):
a single 7900GTX is around the 750.-CHF (~500.- Euros,) the 7950GX2 is around the 850.-CHF, ( 566.- Euros).. i don' t wanna compare to Cfire, but when you think at the price of 2x 7900GTX in SLI and this one... :D

I don't know if you remember the price of dual 6600 ( or it was dual 6800 in a sinlge slot).. no comment nvidia have break the prices down..

IMHO, it doesn't matter if it's 12 cards or 1/2 of the card - the results, the price and the ease of use do matter! :)

This is exactly what I did and I couldn't be happier! The 7950GX2 simply rocks. Awesome performance for the money. The lower power consumption, one slot design, and non SLI chipset compatability are all just bonuses. Not to mention the possibility of running quad in the future :D

They made the 6800 Ultra twice as fast as the FX5950 Ultra. Therefore, I think anything is possible at this point.

If you want low power/highest performance then attach one of these to a Conroe or Merom and you got urself a great platform that doesn not cost the earth to run (compared to a 130w Presler @ 4.5ghz and 2x X1900XT @ 500w).

Certainly an alternative to multi GPU with lots of advantages - fills a gap we never knew was there in the market place (single card/GX2/SLI or crossfire).

hello guys, sorry for the noobish question, and Hello to everyone, this is my first post here :) (i follow the forum since 1 year but never registered before :P)

I'm reading a lot about conroe ready motherboard and i'm really impressed from the performances of this board. Actually i should buy a board in 3 days, and i would buy it with a Pentium D 805, and i will replace the cpu in 1 or 2 months with the Conroe E6600.

I should find a shop that could be able to ship an Asus P5W DH Deluxe in 3 days, they are being sihpped in these days. But, if i couldn't find it, i'm wondering if this is the right "BAD AXE" version Conroe ready, cause i have some doubts about versions and revisions:

I'm writing from Italy and that's the shop in europe i mostly use for new hardware release.

Anyway, what do you think would be a better choice between this and the asus p5w deluxe? I'm not an extreme liquid overclocker, i would be okkey with a conroe E6600 @ 3300 Mhz by air cooling :) (i'll use an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 pro).

Thanks to everyone and congratulations for the result of this review, i've also ordered a 7950 GX2 for the conroe system i'm planning :)
