More single slot solutions needed, not this 3 double slot crap. :P
If 2 of those cards were single slot, you could fit a sound card and something else in there.
Personally, anything setup that won't let me have a sound card is not doable, I'd imagine a LOT of other people are in the same boat.
What I am wondering is this... for a 1 + 1 configuration do you HAVE to have a crossfire chipset/board or can you just use a board that has 2 pcie slots? I am wondering if my Ultra-D can do this with a 1900XTX in one slot and a 1600XT in the other?
^^^ Good question, as I don't plan to upgrade until Conroe AND R600/G80 (well that's what I say now, but in secretly hide myself I'll buy a Conroe rig in July :D)
Only time will tell when UT2007 and Crysis comes out. What's so hard to believe that a GPU can be used as PPU? I mean it's all about calculations, I do think a x1600 does have more processing power than the AGIEA.Quote:

For all that are crying about no PCI slot for a sound card. Have you even tried the ATI onboard sound that has a realtek ACL880/ACL882? Its 24bit and blows away other onboard sound setups and even other sound cards. I gave it a try and keeped the sound card out. The ULI sound with the realtek ACL880/882 is just as good too and the realtek ACL800/882 are HD.
i dont know why all u ppl are complaining about sound...i use onboard realtek on my nf4 dfi and i never have a problem with it...i mean come on SOUND ? it doesnt make a HUGE difference imo
as for that 3 card setup + conroe + overclocking on each card + cpu, man thats gonna be some serious wattage, probably gonna need atleast 1kw but i could be wrong

They should be thinking about scaleing down motherboard parts too, so the voltage of the processors doesnt differ as much as the voltage on the motherboard.
This would probably resistor count or resistance, which reduces power consumption a bit.
When does R600 come out anyway. When it does, will we be able to still use an x1600xt for physics and a next gen card for graphyx?

If you are in competitive gaming, then have good sound is more important than having 4xAA and 16xAF. When you spend $100 on headphones, you expect more than just onboard sound, which is crap compared to a good sound card.

You could use a X1900 AIW, which is a 1 slot card, which would prolly give you room for sound :)
