I'm sure that more decoding power would result in a minimal increase in performance, if the execution units weren't beefed up as well.
Therefore, we can conclude that there probably are also increases in execution unit performance or increases in the number of execution units.

I imagine rev G must be some time off yet or else they would have brought all this out with the switch to AM2. If they could have, they would have is my thought on the matter.
The one part of the article I disagree with is the only bit I understood ;) which was the claim that AMD can put in improvements in weeks rather than months. These cannot be speed improvements because I can tell you from past histroy it takes a long time for AMD to get humming on a new chip so it overclocks well. It might be yeild improvements though.

I think they've been running simulations and checking to see how much they beef up to get the best performance whilst keeping the price in check. However since they aren't as big as Intel they can't introduce it at such a low cost as Intel. That's why they have introduced AM2 at a bit higher costs (but keeping the Sempron series at a perfect low price), if Intel comes up with Conroe they can drop those prices a bit and introduce the rev G at the old AM2 prices.
Also as stated AMD's fabs (fab 30 is getting an upgrade to 300mm wafers btw) are simply awesome, every new wafer gets better and better chips. That's why OC abilities slowely rise while at Intel they jump from revision to revision.
no because they were using new soi new instruction sets and they were cheaper than intel so the didnt need to lower the price but you can check now the price and compare they will go down with 65nm specially with the :slapass: that will recieve AM2 when conroe comes outQuote:
