yes, but you would be using half the available memory bandwidth of the 4 channel controller, and it will perform worse then a normal S775 board and not overclock as well.

I believe so, but even then it will still be slower and less overclockable then a comparable single socket platform. The power of these machines stems from the large ammount of stable computational bandwidth, you effectively cut that in half by only useing one socket. Each socket alone is somewhat less speedy then a single socket platform, mostly due to the need to buffer all memory transactions, but together they add up.
:slap: I'll take 2... :slap::slap:
do these have to use qx9770's.. or can you shove in a q6600... i wouldn't mind dual q6600's
ah, okay, i knew it was 771 before, didnt know weather they changed it or not.. cuz i originally had seen it w/ the harpertowns.. and i thought qx9770's were 775.. so i was a bit lost... had no idea they made 771 9770's
ah, didnt catch that.. thanks for the info
this board is socket 771 or 775 ?? :shrug:

will there *ever* be a ST mobo with more than 4 dimm slots?? imo its sooo lame having only 4 dimms - 8 cores & 8GB RAM sounds.... gay :D ... 8 cores & 16GB RAM: schweeeeet :D :up:
On setup now! ;) i'll post some results next time :) but some ask from me Why if i install ram 4 dimm it will show single-Channel not show Quad-Channel ? but if install 2dimm it will show dual-channel :shrug:
c'mon show us some results :D
How wide is that board?
Very nice!
One question, what powersupply is that?
Will the FB-DIMMS be running ECC automatically since this is based on the server chipset?
