Yeah by the binning and price that's what I thought too.
@bhavv - I think your Geils are just fine at 9-9-9-28, especially with the tRCD 9. Maybe you can get the timings a little lower...
I think you misread, that is their rated speed but they wont reach 2000 Mhz on my motherboard.
They work at 1600 Mhz @ 6-7-6-18, or 1900 Mhz @ 7-8-7-20, but anything over is unstable even at 2T and really loose timings (10-12-12-28 wont even work at 2000 Mhz).
I would like to grab something that can do at least 2000 Mhz at 200 BCLK if I can get it close to the resale value of these geils.
The £60 2133 G Skills are tempting me, and the red heatsinks would look really nice with my mobo. If they wont work at 2000 Mhz, I could simply RMA them for not working near to their advertised speed.
The reason I kept my Geils is because they were the cheapest stuff I could find back then as they were OEM modules, and they ran really well at Cas 6.
Though to be honest, I really dont think I want to take my motherboard out to change the ram for such a small gain. 1600 Mhz @ 200 BCLK with Cas 6 is fine anyway.
Go for the guaranteed 2133 - it probably has a jedec xmp profile for 2133.
My dimms have a jedec xmp profile for 2133 as well, but it wont work at all. The dual channel kits are only tested with 2 modules and not with 3 / 6 in triple channel, so thats the problem.
Its a huge gamble, and if they dont run with as tight timings as my current ones, its a downgrade.
Better pm GSKILL TECH on this one...

I dont really know if thats good or not, I just always upgrade my ram if I can find anything better for a good price, and the £60 G Skill modules look like they might be better.
Theres lots of good prices around now on these sandybridge dual channel kits, so a ram buy + sell looks like a good idea on anything thats £60 a pair and better than what I already have.
Meh, I still like my Tridents I bought ~a year ago. BBSE ic's FTW, best bang for the buck ram. They will run 2200 8-9-8-24 on stock volts, 2300 with 1.72v, and I've had them as high as 2400 on stock timings of 9-9-9-27 stock volts 1.65v.

Yea I think I'll just keep them now, theres nothing wrong with 7-8-7 @ 1900 Mhz for 6 modules.

I'm sure its just a problem with running 6 dimms on an X58 which is why they arent stable at higher frequencies.

I have loved G.Skill RAM since the BH-5 and TCCD days, in part for the quality and also G.Skill Tech who responded same day to all email inquiries long before he had an account here. I'm pretty stoked too about the 60GB Sandforce 2 Sniper I have coming tomorrow as well--only $102 at the Egg no rebate before it sold out (was $95 the day before with some [H] promo).

I agree, most bloomfield IMC's don't like things much faster than 1600. 1900 is pretty good.
I know my tridents will do 1800 7-8-7, but over 1800 the TRCD has to be higher. But that was stock volts, I never tried bumping for those speeds/timings as I was usually running the next ram multi for 2100+ 8-9-8.
At least you can do 2100 @ 8-9-8. Loosening timings wont work on mine, so its 190 BCLK @ 7-8-7 + 1900 Mhz, or 200 BCLK @ 6-7-6 + 1600 Mhz.
I'd love some magic ram that can do 7-8-7 and 2000 mhz at 200 BCLK on X58, but I doubt it will be easy getting some, and these G Skill modules actually look a bit lower specified than mine do.
Did some SPi runs with this memory at stock 1600 - 6-8 6 24 @1.5v and 2133 - 7-10-8 27 @1.6v timings that the OP posted.

Efficiency is better with the lower speed/tighter timings because there's less stress on the IMC.
What kind of VTT voltages were you running for those runs? Any difference is the 2133 and 1600 runs?
Actually everything was auto so VTT was 1.0500. Just changed the DDR voltage and timmings. Yes it was done on a Venomous X but temps never went over 60 anyways. Maybe better scores with more vtt but never thought of tweaking it.:)
SuperPi 1 million is quite variable sometimes with background programs, temporary ram in use, etc.
I think the 32 Mil run is more indicative of overall performance.
Additionally SuperPi is more of a single to dual core application usually.
But quite true of lower stress with lower ram speed.
I'd stick with the ddr3 2133 - it probably not only feels snappier (not that cas 6 ddr3 1600 doesn't), but the AIDA64 read/write/copy scores definitely show more bandwidth performance speed and latency.

If you choose restart option (as opposed to shutdown) from Windows, does your system power off before restarting when using the 2133 RAM setting?
I mean in normal operation, not when you make changes, does it power off and restart or do a normal restart without powering off when you say restart in windows ?Quote:
