Thank god its in mATX format. Extended ATX Maximus IV was retarded
A few months ago I would've said "hooray!" but considering the debacle that I and other Rampage III Gene owners have gone through to get a working product, I'm not too thrilled with Asus' products any more.
So you had maybe one lesser supported board and now the whole lineup is doomed... I'm looking forward to test this little critter, I loved my Gene II ( as it outperformed my REX II :p ) also the GB AMD 870 UD2H was an amasing board... little wolves in sheep cloathes :)
Go read the Rampage III owners thread, this isn't just "one lesser supported board." This is the ROG series in general, they've really been lapsing on their firmware and BIOS updates.
I guess it's a good thing it's "Maximus" series and not a "Rampage" series board.
Maximus 3 Gene (imo) was an awesome board. Swap the chipset coolers and they could pass for each other. :)
ASUS show off ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z

Every news site seems intent on using the same pics ASUS provided 5 days ago....

Well, we got our hands on the Maximus IV Gene-Z during Computex and made some exclusive photos
Very nice board... Love it...
You will be like it with this board....:D

i still don't know if it's worth it to wait for this or if it's better to buy the Gigabyt Z68MX-UD2H which has the same feature set with 1 additional Sata port, but i really hate the blue colour :(
love the layout...
I see 8 phase CPU power design vs ...
I see proper Mosfet cooling vs ...
I see Xifi2 vs ...
I see Intel GB LAN vs ...
I see onboard power on/... buttons vs ...
Feature set seems similar at first glance, I would prefer the Asus solution... price difference though is around 20-30% which doesn't seem much as the retail price is pretty low for such boards... but feature wise I would go with the black PCB board...
This, the board is just too good for the money, compared to other solutions.
However I miss DVI/DP ports, and some not needed ROG crap that Asus likes to bundle with their ROG boards should be removed to reduce price. That would make the Gene-Z the perfect mATX board for me.
Man I want this thing now, but still not available here...
Cant wait to put mine under the SS

I tested it also and it clocks about the same as M4E ;)!
Any idea when it will hit newegg? I'm holding off on a build for this board. Getting anxious...
here in Portugal I was told there 27/6, but what I see out there maybe there is already 21/6
I ended up buying the Maximus Extreme IV
We are giving you a 250A capable CPU VRM with this board, it should keep up with the big boys. I have my sample on the test bench now, just fired up for some Linpack with DDR3-2133 on a set of Hypers:
Win 7 SP1
I7-2600K Retail
Corsair VX1200 PSU
ASUS GTX 570
Corsair H70 CPU Cooler
Corsair Dominator GT 8-8-8-24 DDR3-2200 4GB
On the wall here for heat as this is a hot running CPU. This is without PLL OV.
Attachment 116626
Attachment 116627
MSRP is $185
Still can't find it on egg :(
