PcCI2iminal:
I couldnt find the scythe anywhere in stock in the UK so I got this:
http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/coo...ltake/clp0014/
It sorted my cpu temps out but now i've got a whole new problem. For some reason the chipset heatsink is burning up, temps report at 38c but it feels way hotter than that and some components/transistors near the cpu are definitely too hot to touch (see pic). I'm completely stumped because everything is on stock voltages in the bios excpet the cpu which is at 1.4v to get 3.8ghz, the funny thing is even if I go past 1.4v upto 1.5v I cant post any higher than 3.8ghz and I dont understand why the chipset is so hot because i'm not even surpassing 200fsb which it should support out of the box anyway  .

I've got a 120mm intake and an 80 outy plus the psu exhaust. I've lifted the chipset sink and got rid of the thermal tape but it still made no difference.

805@5.3G ~ GOOD!! O/C :toast:
I don't have the same CPU as you but I do have the same board... I really don't think you need that much voltage... I can do 4.0Ghz with my cpu on that same board and stock volts. The trick is to set the FSB to the next level up. In your case.. Not the stock 133 but use 200 instead. It should boot with stock cooling. Well it should anyway. it does with mine. Mind you I can get to 4.2 stable but then I start to overdraw the PSU I have now.Quote:
