what cooling do you guys have @ southbridge when hitting that high fsb?
hey OPP, I've got the nf7-s ver1.2 - I cant cant even get it to 250 single stick let alone two sticks at any multiplier. My board is vmem modded and vdd modded. I've got a watercooled chipset and cpu. My temps dont go above 30c at any voltage. I have a decent heatsink on my southbridge, do i need any thing on any other chips? I have 2x 256 kingston hyper x, and an awsome 2100 t-bred "b"
Has anyone ever broke 4k with an amd system yet? Thats my goal:p
damn the best i can handle with my 8rda+ (unmodded)
and a stick of 3200xms is 210mhz fsb

thats pretty good, beacuse i have not seen so many 8rda+ unmodded go above 200mhzQuote:

cant even get 250single? its not many that have achieved that. btw you could try to add heatsinks on the mosfets beacuse they get really hot when overclockingQuote:

can run 205fsb single channel without any mods
(twinmos pc3700)
how much does increasing the fsb from 200 to 240+ increase performence?
i get about 9000 points in 3d2k1 and 1333 in 3d2k3 with my radeon 9100(250/200...yeah thats right 200 and the memory wont oc a single mhz... :/)
to those who already did the vdd mods, what was your 3dmark score before and after the mods and ocing?

The northbridge has the ability to go all the way to 216FSB @ 1.85vdd. This is with a GF2 HS and 50MM fan; without the fan all that was attainable was 205 FSB.
Single channel, only one stick now, of corsair XMS3200. It'll go all the way up to 210ish or so @ CL2, 3-2-2 but is not stable. To run at DDR433 (216) I have to up Vdimm to 2.9v and relax the timings to CL2.5, 7-3-3.
Another thing to note is that my system is not stable at 216FSB with "Aggressive" (northbridge?) timings. "Optimal" is required. At aggressive the GUI turns bluish and other interesting visual anomalies pop up. :p
Here's a dramatic visualization of what happens when I try to run 216FSB at aggressive with 1.85vdd:

yes thats all very nice, but how many people here are running that kinda vdd for normal use? and how many people here are actually stable at any of these speeds?
what i wanna know is whats the highest vdd and highest STABLE mem clocks that people are getting in normal 24/7 use.
im at 1.91vdd and 2.9mem (shows as 3.0 though in bios), managed 225fsb at 7/2/2/2 on my NF7-S 2.0 with 2x256mb xms3500. system temp according to bios never goes above 31c under load which i think is fine using stock cooling.
This vdd I am using all the time. My max stable fsb was 230MHz dual channel before taking this 1.1 out of my sys to put in my new 2.0
After that I could not even boot at 220MHz fsb with my kingstons. So back to my good old 1.1 but my proc was changed though.
But now though pelting my nb as before I could not run fsbs like before :(
So I gotta test out the max of my 1700+ (near 2450 b/c of fluctuation of voltages) @1,78-1,82. Think I am gonna put some hs on all the mosfets to stabilize it more effectively.
Think today I am able to use 11*221MHz @2,0-3-2-2 24/7 and 4eva ;)
Hoping on a fix for rev2.0...
I'm not sure if my mobo finally bit the dust, but if it did I'll be RMAing for a a7n8x 2.0. I was told that putting a 100mhz fsb processor in my board might fix it, so I'm going to give that a shot and hope for the best. Just thought I'd update people who were wondering why I haven't been benching anything in a while :P
Just to show I'm still @ it though, here's a Soltek 75FRN-RL maxed in the bios @ 211mhz with ease. I may be getting a 75FRN2, which allows for up to 250mhz.

What do you mean when you say: "Forgot who it was here who said the highest was 4K?"?
CYA
Meaning your at 3700MB/s bandwidth, and 4000 = 4K, so if you were to breach 4000MB/s you would effectively have attained the highest memory bandwidth on a AMD system on Earth. If I read that prior statement correctly. It's here in this thread somewhere.
Yeah, I know it, but you must consider that my abit isn't modded and I only use standard air cooling system, so IMHO this is a very good result.Quote:

Welcome, nice overclock there. Especially for DDR333. Is there anyway it'll run at lower VDIMM?
Thanks Liquid3D
At 2.8 vdimm can run 2.2.2.6 at 210 fsb
At 2.9 (3.06 with abits overvoltage) i have 223 at 2.3.2.6..
I think i can go 4-5 mhz more but 1.7 vdd holding me back
I have seen running winbond chips even 3.3vdimm for a long time working just fine

B4E your the man!!! Nice, really nice. Your going to have to find a Beta BIOS which allows for 275MHz FSB!
Hey shidokanjohn I just ordered the Soltek SL-75FRN2-L which allows VDD adjustment to 1.8V. It wasn't too warmly embraced initially because the board's 1st BIOS was only 200MHz FSB. It was then increased to 211MHz FSB, however; recent BIOS versions offer 250MHz FSB. And supposedly each board has the C1 stepping nForce2 NB. Speaking of NB's, I took the NB heatsink off my 8RDA yesterday, and the stepping was A3 so I was happy. I put an old Thermaltake CPU HSF on there, but haven't fired it up yet, because I had problems with my Prometeia's microfreezer contact. I think CPU temps were as high as 50C, but with the inaccuracy of PCHealth (thermistor is under CPU which is affected by Prometeia's low temps) I'm afraid I damaged my 2400+.as actual temps may have been over 60C. I had experienced all sorts of visual anomalies in the BIOS. Anyway, I'm going to give it a go tomorrow morning when I'm not so tired.
Really nice overclock guy's. Your inspiriation it can be done! But where the heck to you go after 250FSB? Wow.

Beleive me that bandwidth is nothing to feel too bad about, that's excellent. Man you guys are rocking! I have 2GB's of OCZ EL-PC3700 between my two rigs, but; I'm having trouble with my Prometeia, or I might be posting myself. In the interim, I can only watch you guy's have all the fun (little Cindy Boo-Hoo).Quote:

Ok, I reconnected the L12 bridge as per the picture on my 1700+ JUIHB, and the cpu was indeed recognized as a 2600+ at 166fsb. But it made the overclockability worse, not better. It would not run above 222fsb stably regardless of the memory settings. This mod sounds bogus to me. This is on a Abit NF7-S v2.0 with the 1.1 bios. Disconnecting the mod let me run at 230fsb once again. Disconnecting the L12 bridge on a 2600+ should give you the same advantage, but reconnecting it on a 1700+ is a mistake.

Have you tried to use older version of bios? IMHO 1.0 is better than 1.1.Quote:

EDIT: you can see discussions about L12 mod here
http://www.amdforums.com/search.php?...der=descending
No I didn't try it with 1.0 bios. There was another very odd thing about the reconnected L12 mod behavior: my cpu temp skyrocketed to 65C idle (watercooled) from 33C with the L12 bridge disconnected. This was not an artifact or a bad job mounting the cpu, as the water radiator was also quite warm. After disconnecting the bridge and reinstalling the temp went right back to 33C. So there's something strange going on, possibly bios-related.
But there needs to be more than just the one "reconnected 1700+ L12" positive result before I'd recommend people do this assuming it will work.

This is all on air. I'm hoping I can get FSB up a little higher... right now just ensuring stability at this level. Ran Prime95 all night with no errors, so I think it's doing fine so far.

thx man! btw mine is also a single stick
Here's my pathetic OCZ EL-PC3700 (10x221FSB), 2-3-3-6 and 2.6VDIMM. I'm having problemo's getting above 221FSB. I can acheive it, but I have to lower the mutli, to the point where it defeats the bandwidth. Foolish me, for some reason I thought the bandwidth would be an independent measurement from internal clock speed. Apparantly the overall speed up's the bandwidth as much as the FSB, and Latency?
If you run the test unbuffered the cpu speed has nothing to do with the benchmark of the ram.Quote:

yeah I can hit 228FSB with an 8x multi, but I'm not running at 1.8GHz just for the added FSB!
I think part of it can be attributed to the stress factor. As you increase the clock speed of your CPU, it actually takes full advantage of the FSB and puts a higher strain on it. Could be wrong though, this is entirely speculation. I'm sure there are a number of factors, latency being one of them as well.
those 6gb/s scores of the 300fsb P4 rigs seem so much faster, but i just remembered that its pure bandwidth. they are not really much faster in gaming then an xp or barton with 250fsb.
with all this quadpumped fsb stories i just see the history repeating itself, intel is now taking the mghz legend to the fsb... and many people are falling for the 1.2ghz fsb. but paired with the low latency i must admit that its a different story then P4s mhz thing.
in Sandra I can disable "Buffering/Block-Prefetch Benchmarks" is this what your referring to? And if I did, then wouldn't my test be different from everyone elses?Quote:

Also is prudent to disable, "Use 50% Memory Only for Test"? Could this adversly affect the purpose of the twinbank memory architecture?
BTW Tekime I think your onto something there, or it may be as simple as the vcore needs to raised to compensate for the higher clock-speed. I think your correct as far as latency is concerned at higher clock-speeds, however; raising the latency would again defeat the benchmark.
My score seems pretty low, running 230MHz 4-2-2-2 @ NF7-S rev2
Dual Channel

Have I missed a setting in bios?
BTW, Hi everyone (first post).
Most recently (what's holding me back from 2.5, 2.6GHz is the dam Vcore 1.85V max)
Doh! Forgot the bandwidth.
