The mains voltage goes to the controller, and the controller sends back voltage to the compressor and the PC PSU.
The way you send the power to your psu is your option. You get 2 screw in terminals (+1 earth) and you chose the way.
-You may cut the wall end of the PSU power cable and screw in the cables
-You can get a female 3pole connector (as the one in your wall) and place it at the back of your phase and plug your psu there.

Actually I'm have plans to build phase controllers. They will be based on ARM7 core, with onboard USB and dual 8ch ADC. Will try to get 8 fully differential inputs for Type T and Type K thermocouples for measuring -200...+100 temps.

Can you tell me, is 7805 (you are using it, yeah?) produce a lot of heating?
Mine DPAK2 7805 got pretty hot (approx 50C) running only mega16+LCD 16x2 with LED backlight (330mA total). :( But mine has no heatsink, just mounted on PCB. I'm not sure if it's normal operation. :stick:

9V-AC are rectified and filtered from the on board power supply, and the result is around 12V.
If you connect 12V-AC you will get above 16V so don't connect 12V-AC to the controller. 12V-DC is OK.
That is because the peak voltage of 9V-AC is 9*sqrt(2) = 9*1.414 = ~12.7 There are some looses on the rectifier of about 1V so we are around 12V.

The only thing that seems to be missing is a restart delay, do you think you'll be adding that, or have you already in the new versions?
Also, can you add an extension cable for the display as a standard thing? Or even make it an optional extra? I'd be quite happy to pay for one if it could save me having to make up the cable :)

About the extension cable for the lcd... There also are the keyboard that has to be extended. You could just ask for that extensions. We cant provide it as a standard because the main board of the controller is designed to mount on the front panel. If someone wants the extensions, just ask for it.
About the software etc...... We are trying to get them up to their space... soon availiable
Delay restart? I dont think it's really needed, most compressors have start-up capacitors, etc that protect the motor from overload. Adding a delay of (lets say 5 minutes) would be more of a boring waiting time... I dont know everything about phase change cooling and compressor operation, but as we discussed with unseen thats what I understood.
Even on compressors with HST (start capacitor setup) a delay should be used when shutting down and starting up. That can be done just by waiting for a short time before starting the system again to allow the pressures to equalise. being able to have a delay as an option in the software would be very nice though still. The option of 0 to 3 minutes would be fantastic, so that no delay would still be an option for those who would prefer to do the waiting manually. If it's not something you wished to add though, it wouldn't be the end of the world. You already have a lot of very nice features :)
I should really remember to ask when I'm ordering for cable extensions, but I'm old so I forget easily :p: I haven't been extending the keypad wire, just ensuring that the keypad is accessable where the control board is installed. For installs into cases (like V2000 lian li) there's not really room on one bezel and I don't like to use up 2 drive bays, so I just extend the LCD cable.

Just ordered three Freeze pack controllers last night.
Good thing you mentioned about the LCD cable, I want to remote mount my LCD and keyboard also.
This is how I would like to mount the LCD and keyboard.
At the front of the case, right in front of the condensor.
In that photo, there is only 15mm gap between the condensor and where the front panel will be.
What operating temperature are the LCD's rated to?
I'm pretty sure the LCD's will be fine there, but I just thought I'd run it past you guys first. btw that end is intake air.

{.bLanK} GoD, Why dont you place the condensor 1-1,5cm towards the back of the case, so you can install the controller as-is, without extension cables, and you can put the front fan under the controller, to blow at the condenser. I see you have some space there behind the compressor.

Keeping the LCD and controller together stops a fair amount of interference getting into the controller, from high starting currents of some compressors effecting character display. you didnt have an issue with your compresosr so could just make ya own cable if need i guess, or the guys sell them

@gsmaster - I'm not overly keen on moving the condensor back further than i have to. May short cycle the condensor fan more. I may have to pad in between the condensor and the angle to prevent any short cycling.
And that empty space at the rear is reserved for a PSU and the controller

One of the reasons I choose that setup of the lcd, as kayl mentioned above, is to avoid interference from the (electrically) noizy compressor and fans. If you choose to make an extention of 1 meter or so, I don't think will be a problem if the extension cable is properly shielded. If you made the extension shorter the possibility of a problem would become smaller.Quote:

I have to tell people that Freeze Control Basic does not support all of the DrFrostys Features. Yet.
When I will design the new laaaaarge version with lots and lots of features, then these will be availiable.
For now, only evap temperature monitoring-logging, overtemp alerts, and overtemp shut down is supported (did I forgot something??)
Please tell me you forgot to mention we can adjust "Custom Text To Display" bit. :D That'd be uber sweet. :D

No this transformer has only 100mA output. The controller will rougly run without any fans. You must get at least 500mA, best is 1 to 2AQuote:

First test run of my new unit and the new freeze pack controller.
The controller worked perfectly.
Haven't tried the software yet, we'll get there sooner or later. :)
You can then take the "next step" stand alone wireless low power RF display (0 to1 dbm)that can be set on desktop or anywhere covenant. Then you don't always have to bend over for those who set units on the floor.

Yes, you can do this, it will work. Take care to use shielded cable in order to avoid interference.
In case you use two different types of lcd, you will propably have a problem adjusting the contrast. If you adjust for one lcd then the other might be too dim. If this happens you can use an extra trimmer for the one of the lcds.

For vista please try the standalone version and tell me if it is working right. I have tried the standalone version on my laptop that runs Vista and the program started without problems but unfortunatelly i dont have a controller right now to check if all the functions operate normally.

Yes mate it just will not install with the Installer as you know, there is a compatibility problem with it, but as said the standalone version works like a dream.
