Looks like Quad SLi for the top gpu's is just around the corner now so no doubt the PSU will become even more important in the future, or more likely 2 PSU's. Everything is doubling up nowadays; long time since it was one stick of RAM, one cpu, 1 video card.

Twice as many things to not be at optimal and need matching up.

man a computer sucking over 600w, this is getting rediculous.

its getting to a point where it isnt going to be economical to leave a pc on 24/7 anymore... sheesh

luckily cpu's seem to have a new focus on lower power consumption, but graphics cards seem to be going fast in the other direction.

On another note, I took my OCZ PSU out of what use to be my 24/7 PC:D
Finnaly got a little bench session going, no more PSU shuting off.
Gunna hook it all back up to the MSI mobo and finish this damn project:D

Unfortunatley this is the case, no longer is it enough to have tweaking skillz and lots of patience you need to have a big fat wallet have rediculous debts, or have stuff handed to you to compete.

Makes me a little sad as I can not compete at any sort of level, but at least we can see others doing it :)

I think I have Aquamark3 on my bench drive.

Yesterday my FX60 was delivered. This weekend I'll have to see how it does with cooling. 99% chance it won't run at -90C:D
It is not very good on water, I couldn't even get into windows at 3100MHz.

After that I'll have to do some 06 benches with MSI.

If it´s an CCB1E0550VPMW you have good chances for an Coldbug.
But they run good on Watercooling. 3200Mhz on Water is normal for a goog Chip for Windows. xxmartin has reached with his VPMW around 3270Mhz Suicide on Water.

And that´s xxmartin´s 0550VPMW without HS with an Waterchiller Titan 1500 Watertemp around 20°C.

So far all FX60 stepping (with XXX2E) dates will not even post @ colder than -61C evap. temp.
MPS Multiprocessor (and 3 layers of aluminium foil between IHS and Evap) probly will help us stay a little bit longer on windows with xtra heat load..... before it freezes @ -47C evap.

Apparently this chip needs a lot of voltage, an open case, fan blowing, and Clockgen to make it overclock. 3D proofed at 3133 so far.

We’ll see if I can get her running 3d at 3200Mhz on my water PC.

I did put my FX60 on the cascade today though.

From what I can tell it looks like it is good up to -60C.
Looks like I'll have to dust off the DI container for this chip.

I bet your neighbours would be happy with you not using the cascade, they will be getting some electric for a change so they can watch TV :D

hardly... Highest I've seen is FX60 around 3.6 by kinc? Or was it 3.5ish? Either way they don't clock high. Mainly because of cold bug. Air to dice gained me 250mhz because of cold bug on my 170 :( KILLER for 3d03 05 06 though. Single core can't touch them in those.

No one on xs has an FX-60 that passed 3.6Ghz...Kinc's one is at 3.5ghz.

A Dual Core FX-60 at 3.8ghz would be equivalent to an FX-57 at 4.3ghz for 3dmark05/06, so yea, no one's past it yet. ;)
