Thanx!
McMaster... They have EVERYTHING :)
1st post revised with ordering info!
Visit www.fragtek.com for easy online ordering!
just a question but do the 5 fans justify the price jump from 25 to 100 dollars? ive suddenly re-thought about buying one.
Where'd you get $100 from? The fanned out model is $80. And even at $100 the price would be justified FYI. I take it you don't work 6 x 12 hour days each week and have enough spare time to sit around screwing fans on to these brackets. At $80 they are coming unassembled.Quote:

Yes and I decided I didn't want to take the time to assemble all of them so I knocked off $20 and will leave the assembly up the consumer. www.fragtek.comQuote:

So, the end result is that how it sits only 6 series cards can fit with this bracket AS IT SITS.
Now if it's not too late I'm having my laser cutting company call off this batch (more than likely too late, they probably shipped out today... bleh) and wait for my revised drawing. If it is too late I can hand modify the brackets with a dremel to allow the fitment of G70's (and as I look at it I don't think the 512mb GTX's will fit at all as the card extends past the bottom most mounting hole that the bracket uses *sigh*). Sorry guys, need to do a bit more tweaking but it will be quick to a get a new piece out from the shop. Can't believe I had this damn brain fart.
Attached is a pic of the clearance w/ a 6800GT, the added length on the G70 will run in to the bracket with the current design... Will keep you all updated!
UPDATE:
I'm in luck! I was able to swap out the v4 bugged version with the newly revised v5 version which should fit 7 series cards (512mb GTX's still may not fit, trying to confirm this right now). This will put back the brackets a few days but at least I didn't get stuck with flawed brackets, w00t!
www.fragtek.com for pricing and ordering, have also included some nice high quality pictures on the product info page.
what about a big aircooler does it fit?
99% of cpu aircooling solutions will not work with the Expert bracket.Quote:

Not currently but I could definately look in to making a RAM cooling bracket w/o the mosfets! Let me have a looksy and see what I can do, because that's a pretty good idea, people with large heatsinks could orient them over the mosfets and keep them cool with the cpu hsf's fan.Quote:

If you want to allow people to use their air cooling heatsink such as TT big typhoon, Xp-120, 90 etc. Maybe you should move the fans back a bit. (not as much as the picture shown below, but enough for people to use their xp-120, tt big typhoon etc)
I could move it back, the only problem then is that it will only cool the RAM populated in the left most slots, and not the slots closest to the socket, I don't know how much I like that idea.
but if you dont move it back a bit, big air cooler such as Big Typhoon and Xp-120 wont fit :D
Besides most of the people use the yellow slots more than the orange :D
I'll definately try and make it as universal as possible!
Thanks, Let us know asap
Any info on when the SLI DR model will be avail?
I should be getting the prototype some time next week.Quote:

Rofl how do you figure? if you're aircooling you more than likely have a decent flow of air around your ram and / or mosfets already (and more than likely aren't aren't running your cpu at 1.7+vcore). If you're on air or phase you don't have that added benefit of a decent sized fan in that area and are more than likely running more volts through your hardware as well.Quote:

Orders for brackets w/ fans will ship friday or next monday (Gary @ Sidewinder said my order of fans should be showing up thursday or friday).
In other news, the prototype for the Ultra-D model arrives on thursday!
I'll update tomorrow with pix and status reports, etc.
Is the pricing for the Ultra-D model going to be the same as the current expert models?
I would like to see some pics on your product installed in a PC, preferably with watercooling and a couple of hdds...just to see how "tight" things get...?
The non fanned model will be the same price, and the fanned model will be a bit less as it has one less fan.Quote:

Here it is, the first batch of production Expert brackets! :D

Ooooh. VERY nice. Can't wait to see what the Ultra-D brackets look like when they come in.Quote:

Sounds good mate I'll have a thread started for it some time tonight once I get some pix :). The ultra-d uses 2x50mm and 2x40mm fans.Quote:

Hmm..looks great but I doubt I could fit that under my SI 120 :(
FragTek, add another 50mm above the top corner mosfet, as we all know it gets extremely hot, especially under 5v jumper.
Very nice!.. But I'm wondering, wouldn't it, theroretically at least, fit a MSI K8N Neo2 NF3 board??Quote:

Well, it's official. If I can get the money, I'm buying one. BTW, if I do end up getting one, I'll let you know whether or not it fits with a chilly1 evap setup (if you don't know already that is).
You're looking at the Ultra-D style bracket right? If so it should fit with the chilly1 evap just fine, it's the Expert bracket I'm a bit leary about.Quote:

Unfortunately I won't have my unit for testing with the Expert bracket for another 3-4 weeks after changing up the design to be a cascade instead of a SS.
Wow, those are HOT!!
Are the SLI-DR versions out yet?
Do you want me to get some dimensions of the evap mounting assembly and insulation for you? I have it all sitting on a table right now so it's no trouble at all.Quote:

The mouting plate is 4 1/4"x 3 1/2" and is the biggest part of the assembly. If you're worried about it not fitting, users of it could do what I did and not use the discombobulator part of the assembly (as fugger calls it) and make an MDF plate on the evap. It means that the mounting plate sits about 1-1.5cm above the motherboard.
Edit: It's the same width as the stock lotes bracket but a small bit taller.
Thx carlzor... Is the 4.25" side the side with the mounting holes or the blank side? If its the side with the mounting holes it's about .75" too long to fit between... If it's the 3.5" side with the mounting holes then it's the exact same width as the cutout. The MDF option might be what has to be implemented for it to work correctly.
Thx for the help!
Yes, the 4.25" side is the one with the mounting holes. I'll measure my MDF plate and give you the dimensions, then you could just have some made out of scrap plexi or something and offer them for a slight bit extra with your bracket.
MDF mount sizes are 1.5" hole diameter for evap, 3.5" wide by 2.75" long.
EDIT: Forgot to add, there are notches in each end of the wide part where the screws go for two reasons:
1. To help with alignment
2. So that the MDF plate actually fits.
I find doing it this way also lets me insulate it a bit better.
Any chance u can snap a few pix when its convenient for ya? Thx for the help.
If I can get a digital camera I can but neither I nor my family have one. I can draw up a diagram with sizes and everything though.Quote:

Thx carl... I was thinking backwards, it may just fit right in to place. I wish I had mine to test with.
Are the SLI-DR versions out yet?
Not quite yet, I got my first prototype in yesterday and I think I'm going to make a few slight changes to it. Soon though, so stay tuned!
Awesome frag, waiting for prototype V2.0, lol.
PRICE DROP ON LOADED KIT, GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT!!!!
Fan order had attempted delivery today but I wasnt home to receive, going to try and drop by the PO tomorrow morning before I get to work and see if I can snatch em up :) All orders for loaded kits should ship monday if I get them picked up tomorrow!
After some fiddling and dremel cutting to see what would work best I now have the bracket modded to fit with most aircooling solutions!!! I have it worked out to fit my XP-90 perfectly... The XP-120 still isn't going to fit, sorry but that's just a massive heatsink that barely fits w/o trying to go around obstacles like RAM/FET coolers, lol. I believe it will work just fine with the TT BT, and should definately be fine with the new stock AMD heatsink and the old style stock heatsink.
You'll have a choice of buying a bracket for the FETS or the RAM (with and w/o fans) @ www.fragtek.com some time tonight if I get a good chance to get it listed.
Here are the pix of the brackets w/ an XP-90 for RAM and FET cooling...

http://www.fragtek.com/pix/expert_mosfet2.jpg
thanks and a good point..for got I could just reorient the SI 120...since the bracket would allow cooling of the ram
do you think I could place a larger fan on the bracket...I am concerned about the higher noise on the smaller fans but I owuld love to cool the PWMIC better
so the ram bracket only for DFI Expert right? Will it fit normal DFI ultra and SLi-Dr?
@neal: the bracket in any orientation won't be able to accomodate the SI-120 or XP-120 just due to it's shear size, sorry mate :(
@bail: The current production bracket is for the Expert only. I just got the prototype for the Ultra-D / SLI-D(R) model in yesterday and making a few tweaks to it before I order up a batch of those but they are coming soon :)
In the loaded kit, how loud is each fan?
Thanks,
Yan
The 40mm fans are 27db and move a hefty 9.1cfm, the 50mm fans are 34db and move 17cfm.Quote:

This is with water, so no other air flow around it. Maybe you could mod them for 7v and im sure that would still be enough air flow.
A lot of airflow was the entire point :) Extreme aircooling, w00t w00t!!
I think you should focus on Normal DFI User :)
u can always buy the bracket and then put your choice of fans on it, rofl.
I mean you should have made the bracket for DFI Ultra/SLI D users first :D
Ohhh, gotcha :) I'll have that bracket in to production soon enough. :banana:Quote:

Alright, that's definitely good news. Thanks.Quote:

Hehe.... the Neo4 Plat's CPU Socket is a bit lower than teh Diamond Plus' but the RAM is in the same location, side to side, but the Diamond Plus' RAM socket's are a few MM up further, than the Platinum.
If the Ultra-D/SLI-DR had the RAM slot's Vertical, I'd prolly get one and rig it on my Neo4 somehow but they arent. :(
The one you make for the Asus P5WD2 might fit my Neo4.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1140911417http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1140911417
Might work! :)
I wouldn't care if it was a few MM apart. Now, what about fitting my XP-90 on there, lmao. The RAM on the ASUS is a bit lower and the cpu socket is a bit to the right but....
I'll have a look and see what I can do Nick.
Edit: Almost forgot... fans came today!!! :D

Nope XP-120 is just too damn massive, hell it barely fits on most motherboard w/o trying to get it to fit around additional objects, hehe.
The XP-90 however it will work with!
I wanna buy just the DDR fan holder 2 fans and stand offs, is that possible? If it is you have a buyer :)

As far as the colored acrylic I don't know. Its a possibility in the way off future unless u want it so bad I can make a one-off for ya at 100 bux a bracket in any color u want :)
 SINGLE SIDE BRACKETS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT WWW.FRAGTEK.COM!
One thing that doesn't make sense to me...
For the one side brackets, does it make sense to include fans for both sides, when you order only a single side bracket? ..there should be more options, so one could chose RAM bracket + the 2 RAM fans or MOSFET bracket+3 MOSFET fans....?
Its actually a misprint on the page now that I think about it.. (I'm on my blackberry and don't have time to check) but I think I accidentally left on the age that all 5 fans were included. This is not the case, only the fans for the side you have chosen come with the kit.
Ill make the proper changes to the page when I get home. Thanks for keeping an eye out.
I used the original bracket page as the template and overlooked that part.
Do you know if the Big Typhoon will fit with the Ultra-D/SLI-DR bracket?
Yes sir I believe it should fit just fine! I'll do some more teting when the next prototype comes in.
No worries :) a very comon mistake that I have made many times myself... :)Quote:
