The 3700+ in my sig below I got to boot in to windows at 3.1ghz and ran 1:1 at 260 w/ stock volts and no problems on air, but now that I have phase I hit the wall around 240 also. My temps are in the mid -20C's.
Still you have a great chip. Keep us posted on where you get with it under phase.
Note: I am still trying to get mine to clock high, it just seems to want a lot of volts to even boot at high HTT, but the only HTTs (less than 240) I can get into windows is with I can run stock volts or less. Go figure, it's like increasing voltage does minimal things and anything above 1.55 + 126% volts and it won't post.

Sorry for the OT.

Cold bug@+20C?
Are you kidding, or its true?
whoa... the KAB3E is amazing!!! well, yours is for sure... wow.. makes me wanna try another one... my KAB2E does 260 @ 1:1 with stock vcore also. :) my memory on the other hand does not like 260.. lol.. so 255 it is for me...... for now. :) amazing results though on your cpu!
Well, I was so sad at the end of work when the last 3700+ got sold... But then I hung around for 30 minutes sulking, and the manager received a box with 30$^$^@%^%$& so i got my pick of the litter...
Just got home with my 3700+ KAB3E 0546GPBW and I'm going to install it right now. I'll be back to post results.
looks like yeilds are getting better and better, hopefully this means we will start seeing production 3ghz+ chips soon.
seems like something's definitly up over at amd's fabs, doesn't it. most curious. i do wonder why :DQuote:

I dropped it back to 2805MHz and prime95 fails within seconds... I went as low as 2695MHz and it still didn't appear to be stable. This really sucks. I was expecting so much. Temp is 30c.
hmmm, it could be because yours is what i think is (correct me if im wrong, i dont know steppings too well) a week 46 cpu, and the rest of these have been 47 and up, either way, bl dude, bring it back to the shop and grab another one :P
Nope, a guy on the first page of this thread has a week 46 that he said goes to 3+GHz on stock volts...
Just a little update, my cpu seems to run better with a multiplier of 10x rather than 11x and i can get it to post at 2950MHz but is not prime stable... also, a rather funny thing happens... I cannot run HTT of 3x... anyone know why? i can only run HTT of 4x, if i try 3x it doesn't want to post... the cpu will handle up to 1.71v, i'm leaving it at 1.65 because that seems to be more than enough... but if i run 290HTT x4 that's seems way too high, and i think i am failing prime because of too high HTT...
anyone have tips??? really likke to make this cpu stable... above 2.8 if possible
a friend mine got a SD 3700 ADA3700DAA5BN KAB3E 0546FPMW 1367099K50404 watercooled but dont OC like this one.
he can run stable 2900@1.55v
RobGL - Don't forget your OC has a lot to do with your mobo, and keeping the vcore nice and steady, and if the core has a nice solid pant on the IHS... but anyways... I know peeps with my same stepping 3700 have gotten 200+ more stable mhz out of their's so each chip *can* vary quite a bit.. or so it would seem. Anyways, keep tweaking and see how it goes. Good luck!
http://img.techpowerup.org/060120/Clipboard01.jpg
tested alot ...getting 3ghz wit 1,425v prime stable ... over 3050 it needs alot of voltage -.- and finally its getting to warm i think ...
don't look at the time xD ... was running it just by the way ...

And yeah, I'd love one of those week 47 KA3BE's. Fry's is having a cpu/mobo special on 3700's at decent price. Maybe they'll let me look over their stock.
with my msi mobo the first official bios is the bestQuote:

That is a serial number. Nobody needs to know it, especially AMD :D Although last 4 digits are interesting for everybody - the lower they are the better.Quote:

What is the difference between MW, BW, and AW?
so my CABNE 0530AMPW #0001 opteron 146 should be godlike? ;)Quote:

Hoping that has some validity; I just received in an Opty 165 0547TPMW ending in xxxx0096, yesterday. :)

still curious...
I mean it takes a ( very ) little bit of time to smudge them out in some graphics app, but still requires making that extra step.
But why obfuscate the numbers?
Why would AMD care? >>Quote:
"especially AMD :D"
@serlv,
It just matters If one got the CPU thru some unofficial channels, like ES CPUs or maybe early review samples. They want to hide it so in the worst case scenario chip cannot be traced back to where/who it came from. Say, CPU is not released yet and some people already have it months before it's official release. They played with it and sold it before offcial announcement. If AMD found this chip (by serial number) the person that got it from them *could be* (no more EEs for him) in trouble as they sold the chip that technically does not exist yet. I guess, that would not be good.
For all of us getting processors by regular channels (retail, online stores...) it's doesn't mean a squat. It's just another serial number. AMD uses those when you RMA the chip and to track the distribution of sales. It doesn't matter If anyone besides you knows it. Someone someday started smudging those out and now everybody does it, no matter what chip they have...
thx for the clarification :)Quote:

Is it? I thought that like the 1st crepe off the pan, or the first pancake off a hot griddle, the first chip off the wafer was supposed to be tossed...Quote:

I've often wondered about that batch thing. I've had chips from the same run where a higher number did better than a lower number.
But still, you'd think there would be some validity to it.
Well, I'm working away at the one I've got trying to squeeze what I can...
I'm having a really strange problem however... If I have the HTT set to 3x then I cannot raise my FSB higher than 240MHz. I wanted to run 3x311, just like my last CPU... Though I'm not sure why CPU would make any difference? If I put HTT 4x then I can reach 250 and over no problem. Highest I have gone is 11x265 HTT 4x.
265x4 = 1060MHz, not exactly pushing the limits.
I also got 10x295 @ HTT 4x
295x4 = 1180MHz, now that's a little far? How much volts should my HTT get? 1.5 is stock... 1.7 will not post... maybe 1.65?
Trying to make it prime stable.
I have come to realize that this cpu just will not do more than 2.6GHz... I tried everything, raising the voltage, lowering the voltage, more cooling, less cooling... Oh well.
Seems like I've started a few trends from when I previewed the venices that have stuck around here @ xs :p: I actually went as far as lapping out the serial numbers on those cpu's when I sold them.......Quote:

Really nice results. Too bad DC is the future :)
Lets rock 0547GPMW 0151 Batch Cooled by Waku with IHS !!

Cooming Soon 3.3Ghz or more without IHS :) and prime95 Stable.
Superpi32M its penuts to the Stability for this Cpu :toast:
lucky sob's
Damn... STONKA got another gem! his last one was like my KAB2E... 0532XPMW ... or was it XPAW? mine is running at 3ghz now, lidless with 1.55 vcore... I guess that's pretty good all things considered... but I am staving my magic beans for a nice DC. ;)
This is my Old 0508EPMW it was also a Super CPU all results p95 Stable without IHS an Water cooled !!
3230Mhz= 1.56V <<<< This one was only p95 Stable at 17c Room Temp all another results Testet by 22c Room Temp.
3160Mhz= 1.52V
3130Mhz=1.5V
3100Mhz=1.47V
3000Mhz=1.39V

stonka i'm envious....close that windows and test again :p
j/k great results congrats :toast:
Bloomin amazing, makes my CABNE look like a poor chip, hehehee

PEOPLE!!! I have two choices!!!
- KAB3E 0547GPMW without guaranteed overclock (in a shop, boxed)
- KAB2E guaranteed @ 3080Mhz 1,568V (from a guy)
What would you buy? (Almost same price... a bit cheaper the one from the guy)
I don't know what to do, even if liking the risk I am still inclined to the KAB3E seeing your results.
PLEASE HELP ME!!! :D
both and then sell the crappier one on ebay...guaranteed to get your money backQuote:

You berly put any volts into it. :/ Thats not even close to a max OC with volts lower then 1.6v thats wimpy aspecialy since you have a DFI board.

144CABNE0530APMW
1289809H50XXX 36xxx Overcrash86. I have until yet no Post from him about the WaferID and Batch Nr.
But i guess that he will have 1289809H5005x or around 50!!!
And we have different Batches but the Same Wafercharge ID of 1288864 by the 146Opteron! And 1289809 by the 144 Opterons
Thats the only secret to get a good one!
Batches may various. Only to get the Best Batches and around them!
thats the secret. And naturally same Stepping of CABNE0530APMW.
Look here is a Pic from the CPU in the Thread!

Just say the new ones does 2.8Ghz max its not a big kick in the bulls from 3Ghz. Depending on how fussy u are.
Altho if the 3Ghz one the guy is selling can do more id be leaning towards that. Altho i supose u would have to get it to find out aswell.
Hard choice mate
Good luck
@ bachus - smudging out serial protects the owner (or any future owner) from not being able to RMA in the future. I.e. you overclock your chip and post your results plus a photo of the serial, down the track you kill it and go for RMA to be told "sorry you overclocked it".
@ SIOUX - in your photo of the watercooling, i notice you have the radiator sitting flat face down on the table. Cant be good for air flow mate ;)
The KAB3E if im correct are these a new stepping. ie im looking to buy one so id sooner know than risk buying one.
Thanks Lads.
That's some nice 3700+ ;D
wow, this is better that anysome opteron
I am wondering if I should return this KAB3E 0546GPBW and get a KAB2E 0546GPMW... Seems like the "M" instead of the "B" makes a huge difference?
