he, saaya... ur sure that setting jumper to 100fsb will give me some fsb boost?
just wondering because on my board i can go up to 270fsb (1m, 260 prime) without any mods but jumpers are set to 133fsb.(ok, i got a gpl-x but i dont think that this makes the difference)
i think ill have to test this when i got my mach back :D.

FSB=PCI-E x 2,2
Keep in mind the 1007 is still in beta stage. As far as I know all the release bios above 1005 have dothan support.

the ct479 works with banias and dothan cpus, maybe banias chips need a higher voltage for the cpu interface, so when set to 100fsb the ct479 sets a slightly higher fsb interface voltage? just a theory...
but this would also explain why george (hipro5) said that for his ct479 mods for even higher voltages the fsb jumper has to be set to 133fsb.

That's why I stated release bios. Well the ratio is not exactly 2.2 but it's close to it and it gives you a quite precise indication of how far you can go with every pci-e freq. Yeah, I don't know what is happening at fsb 100-133 but I am pretty sure locks do not work if you boot 133-166. So basically 167+ is the best way to go.

1x1Gb OEM Kreton (chips VT) that can do 275Mhz@2.5-3-3-7 2.8v DEAD
With the first, the system was on dual-channel and only one dimm died... don't know why... 3.6v max used and 275Mhz attempt...
The 1Gb was bought to exchange the OCZ PC3500EB kit that was on my girlfriend pc, but as it was BrainPower B6U808 PCB I decided to give it a try before.
It scaled till 275Mhz@2.5-3-3-7 (200Mhz@3-3-3-8 default) at only 2.8v :slobber: A really good find indeed...
When I try to change the timmings with 915 tweaker to 2.5-2-2-7 the system crashed and the dimm was died...
This is very weird... I have vchipset and vdimm mods on P4GD1 and all seems allright by there... maybe the problem is change the voltage of vdimm when system's still run? Maybe 915 tweaker problem?
What do you guys think?
Hope that Mushkin RMA my kit, but what will I get instead of my beloved kit?.
About the OEM dimm there's no problem too, but will I have such luck next time with a OEM stick? (there's another one on the store and I was planning to buy it too to mach with this one, and now...)

i also heard of somebody else in spain killing his memory on this board without any mods, so i think franck is right, there seems to be something wrong with the boards vdimm design.
i didnt have any issues again though, and im using bh5 again...
ratax, what exactly did you do before you rebooted the system and the memory died?
i still have some old sticks lieing here i can use to find out what exactly happens that kills the memory, its only 256mb sticks that i dont care about if they die asthey arent really worth anything. pc2700 micron for example.
i dont think the 915 tweaker killed the memory though, just like i dont think cpuz and clockgen dont kill the memory. its some flaw in the mainboard that might get activated with those apps though.
i think that the system just froze because you were trying to set tight timings the memory couldnt run, is that possible?
whenever you guys have the system freeze, i guess its best to power off the psu and take out the memory before you reboot...

Did some testing about the 200 FSB boot. It has been said that booting at 200FSB gives performance boost because you get full pat and so. I did 10 superpi runs with my system everything same between each series of 10 runs but one was booted at 217FBS and the second was booted at 200FSB and then increased to 217FSB with clockgen. Results were as follows:
FSB200boot average time: 28.713
FSB217boot average time: 28.714
It seems there isn't any performance increase there...waiting for others to test.
PD:YEs hyperpath 2 is enabled in bios and spread spectrum is disabled.

I "just" killed 2 sticks and not 3.
The two stick burned in a similar situation... after a crash because trying to overclock too much for them.
I allways have cpu-z and clockgen together open and sometimes one or another doesn't report the exact settings for that moment. Sometimes have to restart cpu-z and/or click on clockgen in the get setup (or something like that) button to refresh info.
In the two situations I raised the voltage to see if perhaps the crash gones (while running).
What I mean with 915 tweaker is that if it's possible that it uses some instruction that this board doesn't like or can't handle somehow...

Ok, yesterday me, ojdr and RickY puted the Dothan 780ES+P4GD1 under cascade but we got some weird problems.
At multi 17 we could bench SuperPi @ 3700Mhzs (cascade was only doing -75, normal is -100), so far so good.
Then we dropped multi to 12 to check max memory frequency and we got the same that we did on air, 275Mhzs 2-2-2-5 out of BH5.
Then we tried with multi's 13 to 16 and no go at all. Multi 13 we could only get 13*260, multi 14 we could only get 14*245, multi 15 we could only get 15*230 and multi 16 not even 220 FSB. So the higher the multi less FSB we could get without getting to the max the CPU can do.
Anyone with the same problem? Or any ideia on how to solve it?
Have you made any chipset mod on it? Which PCI-E Freq are you running at?

It's pretty tight in there. I rather solder to a cap than try to hookup to that pin.
you just have to trace the line the pin goes to, if we are lucky its hiting another small resistor before it dissapears.
im not sure ifit works though, so better let somebod with modding skills do it :D

I've been having a similar problem with a 770 and the multipliers. Say a go for 11x, the cpu/mobo will go up to ~265MHz FSB giving just over 2.9GHz. Tho when I then move to 12x the CPU seems to freeze up as I approach 2.8GHz. The RAM has headroom but the chip won't go the same distance for some reason. Why is this? Has anyone else had problems here like this? Doesn't matter if I use a modded adaptor or not (have both :D)

2. avoid the ram divider by setting the fsb dram to auto or to fsb400:dram533 (it will set the 1:1 ratio, at least it did for me... this bios isnt programmed very well...)

I told you that I'll try to hardware Mod the mobo so as to "lock" PCI-E and PCI frequencies above 120MHz(which we didn't knew for sure if it was that).......I measured with a frequency counter(meter if you wish) and guess what??.......PCI-E and PCI frequencies ARE LOCKED at the SAME FREQUENCY we pick within Clockgen.....THEY ARE LOCKED......:)
EVEN IF WE CHOSE 270MHz or 230MHz or WHATEVER, THEY ARE LOCKED.....FOR SURE......(Thanks Franck - cpuz)...... :)
Here I booted at 120MHz PCI-E and within Windows I picked 129.89MHz as for the PCI-E....Take a look.....

Yes saaya. The retail 780m had no problems at all scaling with 14, 15, or 16x up to 3850mhz so far, havent tried for higher yet. All these WR 3d runs with asus p4gd1 and 7800gtx 512 were with my retail boxed 780 chip. Mem/system speed for 01' was around 271-272x14 if I remeber right. Base temps were at -140 to -150c.ONly problem with the retail chip wsa that it doesnt seem to like colder than -150c. This system is still easily capable of 275x14:Quote:

Boots up into Windows @ 2900 Mhz and 3d game stable but did not run SPmod yet. If I push the FSB up to 225 @ stock multi to get 2930 MHZ, it will eventually reboot.
P4GD1 needs a droop mod!!
I will test with higher Vchipset and might need to wait for Hipro5's mods.

Are you running 260 24/7? What volts if I may ask? If I remember right micron chips did not like high volts for 24/7 use and they die after 2-3 months depending how high vdimm is.

Actually considering my entire situation what should I do? My multipliers default is 17 which means I can only get 150 FSB before my rig does itself over. This leaves me @ 2.5 on a 780ES and whatsmore with an FSB of 150 which doesn't do wonders for the PC3200 memory. Obviously people have been doing it comfortably with this processor before. Suggestions?
