Ok, for an review it's maybe the best. My point was, that u use it like 3DMark, comparing ur results with other people, then a timedemo is better. ;)Quote:

Props to you, sampsa. you must be doin something right. ;)
CPU limited graphics solutions (best examples are SLI and Crossfire) get even more limited then usual due to Fraps taking some cpu power. I think I prefer timedemo's for this reason. If you have enough time it's best to do both ofcourse ;)Quote:

What can I say, these cards are awesome :woot:
And we all are waiting for 3DMark05 action soon! :fact:
And 1Ghz/1Ghz its :slobber: Can you test what 1800XL cards can do on LN2! Looks like need to get one :p:
Might be a little of topic but why starting a new thread :
I also want to purchase a x1800 and want to know if ATI is now able
to support poper custom resolutions??
Abt. a year ago my decission went to nvidia cause ati just did plain suck on that option. For example i need 1024x640 and can simple adjust it with nvidia drivers - Can ATI do that with X1800 cards?
That actually would be a good topic to start a new thread on in the General Hardware section
....I'd kinda like to know the same myself frankly.
Great stuff sampsa. These card's scalability is looking very impressive. Really looking forward to seeing how far you can take it.
Are we gonna get to see how far it can be taken by the infamous kinpin ? ;)Quote:

I use time demos too, and it´s not capped, I can get 127fps with a couple of GTX :)Quote:

a little offtopic, but www.dna-drivers.com offer extra working resolutions. Though thats not FM approved, and DNA is always very late with newer drivers (programmer is still a student)Quote:

Heh I know you are busy, but we can't wait!
Congrats :toast:
OffTopic: How do you afford that Car!?!? :slobber:
The car isn't THAT expensive... I mean the car is pretty nice (altough it isn't my taste and doesn't drive good enough for that kind of car and a 1.8L 16v engine) but it's not like he's driving a Ferrari Enzo or something...
That would be jawbreaking and I would ask the same question... but a BMW Z3 is a pretty common car here in Belgium!
ONTOPIC: congrats with the 1Ghz/1Ghz... hope to see the benches real soon!
Hi, I was busy today playing with Xbox 360 and just got back home. I'll start testing in few hours.
Puijken, yes it's just a regular car and I haven't even claimed anything else. although it's not 1.8 ;)
Hehe, sorry for the offtopic but what engine does yours have then? Here in Belgium I think 75% of the BMW Z3's are 1.8L engines... and they just don't drive as good as a 1.8L should! And no offence to your car... they're nice and decent rides... just not my style... :DQuote:

congratulations :toast:
good luck for benching ;) I hope for at least 12500 3dmark :D
great oc sampsa
offtopic:i will get my x1800xt 512mb next week so sampsa watch oput :P ;)
Hehe I just popped heat spreader off from my FX-57 and it didn't contact at all from the center of the core!! Lets see if it does better than 3,6 GHz with DI.

Its a must nowadays to take that thing off, of course thats for those of us who dont have LN2. It will be interesting to see if it makes a difference for you, or if just a little contact is good enough with ln2.
Someone lend him a 4.0GHz FX-57 and 340MHz 2.5-3-3-x TCCD please!
First run:
CPU: 3,6 GHz
GPU: 860 MHz
Mem: 940 MHz
3DMark05: 12178
 congrats....
2nd run:
CPU: 3,6 GHz
GPU: 860 MHz
Mem: 958 MHz
3DMark05: 12216
(GPU seems to be very tricky in 3D after 860 MHz!)

nice numbers Sampsa
but why dont you move the core frecuency? that is the max?
With dry ice 860 MHz seems to be limit in 3D. Raising the voltage beyond 1,43V doesn't help.Quote:

Man 860 is just crazy. I would be happy just knowing what max would be approximately for good air with a voltage bump, mainly for an XL as I think I would be getting this. Any thoughts?
Holy crumbs, nice work Sampsa, yet another reason for your Xtreme Legend title, keep up the good work, freeze that baby :D

Who has ever claimed this could do 1 GHz in 3D?? 1 GHz was on Windows XP desktop in 2D mode...Quote:

i really need this oc utility before saturday we'll have 2 x1800xl to bench, i'll do anything to get it, is there any way?? ati tools only lets oc the core
No kidding. 12MHz core increase did nothing. That goes to show that GPU is no longer a bottleneck, just waiting for the mem to move up :stick:Quote:

If your cooler/header/block is not making good contact, maybe you should try sanding this part of the socket:

Hmmm...so this is what you'd be looking for then ?

900Mhz Core
980 Mhz Memory
3dmark05: 12.5K+ ?

whats the record for single card???
I think my 3 weeks saga with single Radeon X1800 XT is done. Memory @ 976 MHz is about the max I can get it run 3DMark05.. some artifacs already on 2D. GPU could propably do 900 - 920 MHz, I was able to run it 882 MHz this time. We finished benchmarking with my co-editor Ville @ 4 AM.
Next I'll try Radeon X1800 XT CrossFire (or GeForce 7800 Ultra 512 MB SLI):
http://www.muropaketti.com/3dmark/r520/12419.png
we'll be back! :toast:

Nice final result. Sampsa looks damn tired in his Xbox360 pic.
Could be a bad bios or it could be drivers... who knows. But if the card is capable of running at 1GHz, I am sure the modders out there will find a way to MAKE it run at that :D
were you not able to slyly carry the xbox out of wherever for "testing" purposes? :D
Sampsa very impressive -congrats man and the 360 looks better than I thought it would.
I tell you what I would really like to see though, run this card with the GPU clocked as high as it will go but leave the memory at 1500Mhz.
I have a theory that the performance jump over the competition right now is mainly down to the type of memory used and the extra bandwidth it produces.
I sincerely hope that the non-reference nvidia designs and the Ultra are supplied with the same type of ram - the results I believe will be very interesting.
Also a run with FM approved drivers (although it will be a while for that I guess)??
That 05 score is awesome - I managed just under 11k with my single volt modded watercooled GTX and Mach2 R507 cooled FX55SD @ 3.511Ghz, but might try again to see if I get closer, pretty impressive though I must admit.
Sampsa what about 3d mark 2003 and 2001?
tnx
They are history ...
Excellent clocking and scores sampsa :toast:Quote:

we just got our hands on one XT, but its gotta be returned real soon so no extreme stuff can be peformed on it :(
Too bad! Imho you deserve one just for overclocking! Lets hope you'll get one to play with soon :)Quote:

Here is a little sample of what the XL is packing. The core is at 53c on water.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=38973
1900Mhz the memory starts to artifact :D
I would show speed in CCC but this driver does not have that option. ;)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=38974
Sorry FUGGER, but there is no one of your posted pics :slap:
Looks like I will get XL core soon :fact:
frozen I had the core to 850Mhz and I never had a chance to get a ss before condensation stopped me. This card has undergone some very harsh threatment with getting it wet several times while it was on and it keeps on going. Frozen a few times too.
I wish 3Dmark showed my clock speeds. Cant wait for an approved driver.
Generic VGA
N/A N/A
So Fugger you think the XL is a worthwhile investment and worth getting over the XT for the price and availability?
I will let you know when I get my XT.
Stock clock on the XL is 500/500

I was able to reach 954Mhz on the memory and 800Mhz on the core on 52c water and an AC blowing in the side of the case. The memory is unreal but the core wasnt liking the voltage at that warm temp.
Hooking to phase now that I have done the initial testing.
Yes, 1900Mhz from the 1.4ns memory and the first sign of artifacting.
um...
:woot:
Lol, the core wasn't liking the warm temps...It only gave a 300mhz/450mem(900ddr) overclock on water (60%/90% overclock) If that's bad, then i'm cool with bad.
500--->800 core
500--->950 ram
That's pretty damn sweet. Awaiting some phase results, but dang, i'm already impressed.
I'm all down with some benchies if you're willing and able...That would be interesting to see stock vs. v-mod+better cooling on an xl.
No one ask so i do:
Can you run 3Dmark at that speed ?
for us average cooling people, how high would the XL go on stock cooling and stock voltage? and how are u oc it, I thought CCC didnt go higher than 575?
Ati Tool B9 can OC it....but it's not public yet.
What do you mean average cooling ?? :confused:Quote:

Stock I don't think is going to cut much in terms of overclocking if you want stability, no artifacts and a long lasting card.
oh, well some people have it. not fair.Quote:

With the stock XL cooler I was maxing out around 560Mhz on the core, 575 was locking up.
If my watercooling had the capacity (no chiller) I would be able to run bench the GPU at top speed.
The memory is fine at that speed, no artifacting at 900Mhz for me. 954 is where I seen artifacting.

hey not a bad little tool. Adjust clocks, volts and fan all in one little app. I like! what temps were you getting at 1.175v and 625mhz? That is a nice little 125mhz increase from stock and already matching XT for less price and availability. I want to get a card now too. Anyone finding one manufacturer doing better than others in terms of overclocks or are they all the same? Locally I can only get OEM and RETAIL Sapphire.
my retail sapphire XL is coming tommorrow. i will test it and report back.Quote:

I just got my sapphire oem today, but i'm waiting for the rest of my new system which should come in tomorrow. I'll have plenty of new things to test and OC, but i intend on OCing the videocard as well, to compare with what others are getting. One thing i noticed while examining the card, is it has 2 tiny dip switches on the bottom side of the PCB, does anyone know what they are for?
