I had to give Major a run for his money with this CDBHE 0532RPMW, 3000 wasn't enough. :)
just can't resist overclocking sometimes (for fun mostly) my 24/7 rig
currently limited by PSU cheap 400w loaded with the X2 , 8fans, 2DVDs, 2HDDs, 3 neon lights and a 7800gt light oced
OPB's latest results with his 4600 are teasing me to put this baby under my cascade :p:
water is at normal room temp, approx 27-28*C
timmings are 2-2-5-2-7-12-2-2-1-2-3120-1 enable off-0-16x-8-5 (old school BH5 @ 3.2V )
ill add the rest of the CPU details, i have to search my photo archive :(
can you repost the image using http://imageshack.us/ instead. also, what's you cooling?Quote:

This isn't tested for stability however i posted, uploaded pics and what not at this speed so its somewhat stable. 3.3 PI 32m is a reality though.

Nice, chew*, that's a big overclock.
What kind of vcore? Is that the new new Sapphire board? And CPU stepping? (just got a new 0607 3800 myself).
Hey M3 CSL, I got the same stepping as you. It's Ver 4.2 E4. Looking sweet priming 2500/1.33/38C stock heatpipe HSF. Hmm 12 minutes, bored with that. I'll try 2600.
my 2 new X2 0601 (SMPW and TPEW) arrived with a plain alluminum heatsink (like a 3000+ heatsink)...no more fancy heatpipe/delta cooler :(
Supertim0r are they 3800's cuz I have had several of them and they never came with the "upgraded" HS.. It was always the 4200 and up or the opty 165 and up..
njkid32 is right, the 3800's only come with the cheap HS.
I had a few 3800+ at work last month with this HS:
http://myweb.cableone.net/lreedy/com...400+PandHS.jpg
Oh nice I guess they finally upgraded it:)
Dont think so, I have a 0607 3800X2 it came with el-cheepo HSF.
I have a theory about HS. The better the heatsink the hotter the darn thing runs............ I had some elcheapo heatsinks that came with 2 winchester 3000's then i had one more 3000 that had a hefty copper base another winny. That thing was a heat source rivaling that of the sun and OC'ed horrible...It's being used by maxxracer now for his heatload project.
my 3800 x2 with the cheapo heatsink idle @ 43c 2.7ghz 1.28v :(
really high A64MCT :P

Got a E6 Opteron 165 now but it hates my ballistix. I heared that all new E6 cores have that problem. So i need a new cpu.
I can choose the folowing:
X2 3800+ for 305 $
X2 4200+ For 370$
A Opteron 170 for 430 $
Or a X2 4400+ For 470 $
If i take the E6 cores there is a chance that i have to swap mamory aswell. What would you guy's do ?
You're going to have to accept that your Ballistix might not like themselves either. Mine aren't as good as they were and that seems to be normal.Quote:

Nice chew*, but 1.792v? Is that real? I'm afraid of that kind of voltage lol.
nah thats a bug on the grouper board...with cpu-z. 1.6v is the max i'm comfortable pushing into a cpu on phase for 24/7 use. This is my everyday rig. I do everything on it while running rosetta 24/7 in the background, I don't even realize its running.........those were completely untweaked video settings to....Quote:

Sorry! Single stage phase (Vapo LS). They're not as good as the 0601s, but they're good. The one I took out earlier had run Rosetta at 3100 for hours; this one looks like it will do the same (but runs at 1.47v at 3GHz, less than the 4600).Quote:

good luck with your 3800
is it going straight under phase ?
under water right now, priming at 2.9 Ghz.
Phase in a few days, i'm going on spring break and need to move my comp back home.
2.95 fails with 1.6
2.90 fails with 1.56
2.85 fails with 1.48

Presenting LDBFE 0607SPMW "T" a.k.a. "Mr T" under phase pwning my CDBHE 4600 at 3000 MHz. It's running Rosetta 16/7 (can't leave it on overnight or I'll get an ASBO off the neighbours), so instead of SP2004, here's a more realistic shot:
Been looking through these nice 06 steppings and I've decided to hop off the Opter-craze and onto the x2. Are these good 06 stepping still available at places like Newegg or Monarch? Am I still guaranteed a great clocker, or should I buy privately?
2006 X2 = 2.8ghz almost guaranteed :)Quote:

I got an xpmw 0601 but with WC and 1.67 I got it prime stable for an hour at 2700 mhz :( So not all 2006 X2's do 2.8 ghz :(

I got 2 x X2 3800+.. specs are in sig...
1 can do 265HTT x 10 & the 2nd one is only doing 220HTT x10...
Haven't tried for Max OC lately as I been hooked up with WOW...
Also couldn't be bothered atm to try for anything other than 1:1...
Gotta get week codes etc from CPU sometime soon... Have it written down but this darn WOW game has got me hooked...
Also, the pair of G-Skill UTT I have can only do 250MHz max but I think there's something else holding me back with my SLI-D... Testing with my Ultra-D modded to SLI-D proved very good with my G-Skill UTT but it doesn't seem to like my "more costly" board...
Only running air atm cos I could not be bothered going through the whole setup of my old Vapo PE anymore...
edit: must re-do sig as I am not running 10x245HTT anymore...

Thanks to you, Jedicool have been trying to flog me the TT bigwater 745 all afternoon, telling me it's far superior to my galaxy. (apologies, I know I'm talking kits here)
I've actually finally invested in getting Aircon installed, so goodbye to 30-32c ambient.

Does anybody know if LDBHE 0603 WPEW is any good? I can get an 3800+ with this stepping.
there are so many steppings nowadays, the only way is to try and buy. If it's crap, ebay it.
Well I just bought a LDBHE 0601 XPMW 3800+...I see it can get 2900mhz on water. Hope the tradition holds true. I'll let you know next week, (I'm off to Santa Cruz for the weekend) I have both TCCD and Bh5, we'll see if they play well with either....
Hey you will be joining me in Santa Cruz, cool, maybe you should go to a Friday night party, we are all on spring break :D
2900 should be a definite go on water, i can do 2.95 on water but i really need to pump the volts, 1.6v for 2.95, the "N" chips liking low voltage doesn't hold true here.
They say it is going to rain, but what do they know. All it's all a guess anyway..
OT: I hear some have problems with dividers..more of a cpu thing or a m/b issue
here's where my 3800+ 0601 tpmw is now.
http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/5...hrsmall5km.png
don't forget to uncheck "no affinity" for proper dual core stress testing
I was always curious about that, does it mean that using no affinity makes the chips more stable or what? My experience has been that using no affinity doesnt increase stability, it just makes it impossible to tell which core is failing.
If you uncheck affinity then you have a prime95 for every core.If you keep it checked then windows will see both of sp2004 as one application,so it'll use just 50% of your cpu!
The checkbox says "No affinity", so unchecking the box means "set affinity to core selected". Open 2 copies of SP2004, select core 0 and core 1 and uncheck the boxes.
Also, install seperate copies of SP2004 in folders called 0 and 1 and rename the executables to 0-sp2004.exe and 1-sp2004.exe; this way they have their own ini and log files and you avoid the "can't read file" problem that one copy otherwise gets.
Got my LDBFE 0607 SPMW off phase and back on stock air. It's having a bit of a fight with the Ballistix beyond 2700. I let it dual prime for 90 minutes at 2700 / 1.392v, so pushing it to 2800 and beyond ought to be a breeze. But it locks up or crashes the desktop at 2700+, volts make no diff and I know it's memory... although a divider makes no difference either. It never behaved like this with the HZ, so it has to be the Ballistix.
So I don't know if I should go for G.Skill HV or just be happy with 2700 / 1.392v for the time being. Might leave it like that and run Rosetta on it for a while. :)
Here what was my mach 1 @ r404a along with my 3800+ did today: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=83647
And this was with the worst mount ever, load temps were like +25C, so I couldn't perform any benches or tests at high speeds :slapass:
Hope to get a better mount some time this week and pull the remaining powers out of this beast

2.7ghz takes 1.55v in the bios..
going to be using BURNK7 for a while to try to get 2750 stable on same volts... only lasts 9 minutes @ 1.55v bios atm..
Core 1 is quite a bit weaker btw..
Running a custom blend test in prime seems to be quite a bit tougher than using small FFT's. I had to up my volts by .025 to get stability.

I want to know because in some cases it helps you last longer in prime when you are reaching the limit of your proc's ability. I also need to be able to hit 300+ mem clocks in order to take full advantage of my incoming 7900gtx and get awesome benching scores.
I got my LDBHE 0601XPMW today and started testing. Stuck in my bh5(all I have as my OCZ pc4800 are in rma right now) Set the bios to 1.52v and cranked it up to 280x10 with a 183 divider. I am watercooled and the temps were in the 28c loaded range. I got it to 2950mhz before dinner. Installed the hot fix and registry edit, and now tomorrow on my day off, I am ready to go for maybe some 3000mhz action:yepp:
Nice Millerdude. That is about the same as the XPMW 0601 that I am ebaying.
Glad to see yours is humming along.
I ran a 3dMark 03 run today at 3005mhz and got a score of 32733..need to do some ram timing now...needs 1.52v to do it. I have not tested with prime, but 3d runs okay with a hicup or two every now and then...3d 06 passed at 2959mhz and 3d 05 at 2997mhz..
does burning in really help the OC? I am going to leave the ihs on..killed a 148 opty once by removing it. It arc'ed to the bottom side of my water block and killed the cpu and the m/b...
