Well 8M results wouldn´t comply with xtremelystable.org either :D

But in a way I can understand that type of concerns. A few years back we would need 40' to complete the 1M, now 20' is enough.
More stability is needed to run SPI for 20 additional seconds; in a way we treat realy differently our cpu now than we did before.

It might sound dum, but I like to know what progress have made my rig in few years. Maybe I should just run 2M and dived the socre by two to compare with 1M of my old XP :D

thats pretty fast superpi, it looks as though had prescott scaled as it was meant to, it wouldn't have been so bad. Far faster than anything AMD can muster.

Sure Netburst is nice at -100 or even lower. Bad thing the Intel engineers didn't think about that when they were designing a chip for aircooling that puts out close to 150w at 4ghz.

I´m receiving my 670 cpu and new P5WD2 board before the weekend, so maybe I´ll post some results then.

I believe that raising FSB Termination voltage and Corsair XMS2-8000UL sticks will help me to achieve higher fsb than in my previous run ;)

1:1 would be slow as hell with such "low" FSB even with 3-2-2-4 latencies.
Memory bandwidth just wouldn´t be enough for SuperPI 8M test.

There isn´t that much difference between 3-2-2-4 and 3-3-3-4 in SuperPi.
It´s the CAS latency that makes the difference.

I love this 670 chip.
Previous 660 cpu did SuperPi 1M stable 4.55GHz with stock cooling and ~ 1.42V. This one dids 4.68GHz with stock cooling and 1.38V (1.25V set from bios ) :D

God damn, my 520W OCZ Powerstream just blew up :D
When I started SuperPI 1M calculation, I instantly saw a small flash inside the psu and some component flew out thru the grill of front fan...
Not a surprise that the psu is now completely dead.

It also "burned" (turned off) the 10A fuse of my lab room.

Pretty nice chip anyway. With 1.475V (from bios) I was able to run SuperPI 1M calculation thru at 6.46GHz. My previous 660 chip needed over 1.6V to do that.

Let´s hope that the psu didn´t take anything with it to the other side :D

Luckily I have some spare 600W Powerstreams in reserve ;)

I´m not pissed off because the psu, but the smell of burned silicon is pure horror :slapass:

dont you guys split up the jobs of the psu between different units? like isolate one psu just for cpu power? anyways there is a 700watt zippy with 45a 12v might be more suited for powering your cpu

i think the very huge single 12v rail of 45 amps is better then the 4 17 amp rails of the pcpc 850sli because the cpu can only be driven off of one rail right?

This is what I have(6701), and it has never let me down. At 5HGz starting Spi drops the 12v rail from 12.11 to 12.10(DMM) for a split second then right back to 12.11v. :D

quite true BUT @ 7.3ghz that is almost 100% oc no amd athlon 64 is near that kind of OC when we start see benchs @ 5ghz with an athlon64 you will lower SPI numbers :fact:

truly insane. hats off to memesama for those clocks. SuperPI 1M (even better the superPI 8M) will be held by intel for a long time I think, until AMD has a solution to remedy those dreadful "coldbugs".

Apparently the OCZ Powerstream didn´t want to die alone...
It killed everything that was connected to it (P5WD2 Prem., Intel P4 670, 1GB Corsair 5400UL ES, WD Caviar 200GB SATA hdd).

Never again.
I´ll go and order a PCP&C 850W PSU and give that PS 600W to salvation army.
