Ivan, what cooling do you have? And what is your guys' max SP1M clock?
bored?! bah...i never get bored. ;) minesweeper is teh roXXorZ!! in other words...yeah sitting there for 30min. with nothing else to do can get kinda boring :D
max 1M was 2.885ghz i think. for some reason, it doesn't want to boot into windows any higher than 320 no matter the divider or multi. anybody got a suggestion? unlike a lot of other venices, this one can still boot with 1.7v through it so it's not the volts...
for max SP1M use clockgen. Just keep going up 10mhz at a time and running it again until you fail. I topped out at 2.945 with ~1.62 volts
i'll do that........tomorrow when it's not 2:43AM ;)
thanks bro. :)
well I just went through a week 20 which was CPMW if I recall, and it maxed out at 2.5ghz @ nearly 1.7v =( it really sucked bad.
I just bought a 3200 from frys and it goes 2.4ghz on stock voltage just fine, but it wont do anything above 2.65ghz at 1.65-1.7v =( its a week 18 EPAW....grrr I just need to find a magic week 15 or 17.
Not all week 17s are good, i have a week 17 that isn't stable at 2.7 Ghz with 1.63 volts.
and of course i have a week 15 that has a wall and can't pass 2.75.
Most of the week 20 3200+ I have seen are excellent OC'ers, check my sig, every BPMW seems to do at least 2800 :) , pity about my POS board though :upset:Quote:

Water, but it's not that great. Room is HOT during day.

Nice chip
Sweet!! I'm getting even more excited about my week 20 that's in the mail. It is 3200 dpmw. Looks like people are getting some pretty sweet clocks from some of these chips.
Much better than the week 16's anyway.
okay,
got my new setup a few days ago and just started clocking the cpu.
3000+ 0520 EPMW,
asus sli premium (bios 1006-004, beta), 1x512mb MDT ram (waiting for 1gb kit ocz plat2 - should arrive tomorrow)
300x9 (2700) @ 1,4V, but i use the 1/2 divider for the memory so far.
32m stable (40°c load with the boxed cooler – getting a new one also)
I just can`t decide what to do next.
2700 with 1.4 volts is great, next try 2.8 and 2.85 :)
even with boxed cooler you can go up in volts to 1.55 probably 24/7 safe as long as temps are sub 54-ish, mine errors at 53C.
jsut did that (311x9) and it rebooted under heavy load - still at 1,4V, memory @ 1/2 though. i think i need to wait for the OCZ to arrive. i wonder if i can still boot at 311 with a higher mem clock - because of my asus premium - it`s not a DFI
Im confused, could my low clocks be because I put the memory on low devider and fsb at only 201 and up it in windows, but the memory controller has paramaters for 133mhz and its on tighter timings? I experimented with this by putting the multiplier to 6x and raising the fsb to 280 in windows and instant freeze even tho the memory was at 180. so, I played with A64 tweaker and I put the read preamble to a lower setting like 5ns(I noticed this is set to 7ns when its at 133mhz in bios and when its at 200 its around 5ns) and I can now go to 300+ HTT without it freezing on me.
are there any other settings that might be affecting this?
I noticed as I started raising the multi back up the CPU still became unstable at the same speeds and voltages, but maybe I wont have this massive wall at 270htt Ive had with both chips now. cuz it has to do with read preamble timings thus far....finding out what else it has to do with is another challange.
My memory isnt the greatest, its Hynis D43 chips..capable of 270mhz on loose timings of 3/4/4/8
Here is a screenie with my LBBLE 0520 APMW 3000+. Results were achieved with a cooler master hyper 6 heatsink.

man...why is my week 20 the only one that cant get these awesome results =( I dont get it. grrrr
did you try with the memory at 200, lower v core and htt 300? maybe it`s your mem....
Hi, I'm a newbie, building a new system and I wanted to OC some as well. I've had this thought in the back of my mind constantly, that certain "MUST GET A GOOD STEPPING CPU, MUST GET ONE!" I see you guys are into some heavy stepping-conversation so I hope you won't mind my asking. Basically I've got some chances to get my hands on 0523 3000+ Venices. Does any of you guys know if they're any good and if then how good are they? I've heard that 0519s and 0520s have mostly been not so clockable...That made me wonder.
For instance, how good would this one be:
YBBLE 0523DPAW ??
Thanks up ahead.
DPAW is good... on week 12s that is. Hardly seen any results from week 23, probably nothing special.
ADA 3000 DAA4BP
LBBLE 0520 GPFW = Deception
Z710296E50033
It's not stable beyond 2600 with 1.65v... I'll sell it and try to achieve a good one.
Looks like the 20's are just like the other good weeks. Most of them are really good, but some suck a nut!
Just comes down to luck of the draw.
Finally did some fooling with my new 0520 CPAW. Took a fair amount of work, since I am new to socket 939's and since it seems to be pretty sensitive to memory settings and I initally could not break 2.3ghz stable. After much work I got it stable at 2.7ghz (300x9) @ 1.65v with the 150mhz memory divider on my DFI Ultra-D.
Some things I have noticed. This CPU seems to run much warmed under load on my watercooling than any previous A64 (I've owned several now) with a broad idle/load heat difference. Under load it is great at 24-25C, but loads at around 40C. My DTR 3000+ idled at 24C and loaded at 30C and my newcastle 3200+ idled at 29C and loaded at 36C on the same cooling setup and similar voltage. I am wondering if the cpu is not making good contact to the IHS?
It does not seem to like my TwinMos SP PC3200 UTT which runs perfect at DDR500 speeds with 2-2-2-5 timings @ 3.2v on my UT NF3 250GB and DTR 3000+ setup. With the venice, I need to run it far lower at the same voltage to be totally stable. I've tried a couple different bios's so far, but no real luck getting them to work like they should. I have not tried my TCCD's yet, but plan on giving them a try to see if they make a difference.

If thats the temps you are getting jhatfie I would definately consider taking the IHS off as some of these later weeks definately have bad core/IHS contact :)
Have people been having any luck lately with removing the IHS? I removed mine on my old CO 3000+ and Newcastle 3200+ and the gains were small. Of course I think they made good contact with the core and IHS in the first place.
Fullup3, how's your new 3200+ 0520DPMW performing? I got the same stepping and it's no better than my 3200+ 0516EPGW. Needs >1.67 vcore to run 2650MHz stable.Quote:

It should be here thursday. That's a bummer that yours isn't any better than the week 16. I'll let you know when I get it in and test it out.
ive got the same chip running 2700 @ 1.525vQuote:

I don't have the memory timings memorized, I can post it later on request later, but I have run memtest on these TCC5 sticks at 300HTT with the cpu at a low 8x multiplier. I did relax the memory timings but it didn't help with the overclock. I think I can rule out the memory as being the gate.
My temperatures appear to be ok. I got a fan blowing over the chipset w/nb47j HS and mosfets keeping them at 45C and 48C respectively under load. The cpu temperature has hit 53C during CPUSTRESS at 2750MHz with 1.7v. CPU is not Prime95 and OCCT stable at these freq and voltage.
Except for the PSU, which is now a Seasonic S12-500W, the rest of my rig is the same as in my signature.
And BIOS is currently at 618-2. Have tried other earlier bios with no discernable difference to the overclocking.
Any help/suggestion I can follow up with will be much appreciated. Thanks.
Firstly reduce your Vcore, 1.7 is too much on air !
What Vdimm are you using ??, can you post a screenie of A64 Tweaker Ver 1.6 with CPU-Z ??
I really need these to be able to help, also what HTT multi are you using ??
alphaone, the 2.75GHz and 1.7v vcore was just a 1-time experiment to see if I can even get SuperPI to run since I'm seeing people running stable at 2.7+GHz. My goal is to get max freq with 1.50-1.55v vcore.
Here are the BIOS settings I've been keep track of on a spreadsheet so I know what effect the knobs have on overclockability.

Hey guys, got one of these babys yesterday (3200+) and all i can say is WOW!. She did 260x10 on 1.48v 8 hrs prime stable on stock cooling! I think i have a gem here!!

Not good. Could only get up to 257 FSB with vCore at 1.55v to pass the OCCT 30min test.Quote:

today the rest of my setup arrived and i`m happy because all the dividers work; didn`t have the time to play around that much though. i just wanted to make sure the board can run mem and htt @300. itis occt stable @9x300, 1,4Vcore, mem divider 166 (245).
also tried 2800 @1425 and 322x9 @1,45 but 2900 was not 1m stable, i hope i can get 2900 stable. any suggestions for the mem settings are welcome.
my week 20 3200+ dpmw should be here within the hour. I won't have time to play with it until lunch in a few hours. Will post results as soon as I know something.
Man I hope I get a good one.
Hey fullup3, I really hope your chip performs as expected.
Since I started putting together my new A64 system 2 months ago, I've tried 2 different PSUs, 3 sets of Memory sticks, 2 3200+ steppings, 2 HSFs, every possible BIOS settings (well maybe not every one) and my overclock results have not changed. At this point I'm inclined to think it's my board limiting the cpus' potential since it and the video card are the only 2 components that have not been swapped. I doubt the video card is restricting my overclock.
So I'm going to order a new MB. Not sure I want another PCIe MB though.
smakme here is a screenshot of my current settings for as per my sig.
I have a MAJOR problem that limits my max HTT to under 290 that is unfixable (and please trust me, I have tried EVERYTHING) and is either the CPU or mobo at fault, but still @ 2800MHz I am not complaining :)
These settings can be tweaked to gain ~ 1 second less using Super Pi mod 1.4 so they are VERY stable, I hope this helps you :)
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...A64Tweaker.jpg
Well, it looks like yet again I have missed out on getting one of the really good venices. this week 20 dpmw needs 1.6 volts to get to 2500mhz. And even then it isn't super pi 1m stable. This is the worst one yet. I'll keep tinkering with it and let you all know, but as of now, it looks like my week 16 is still gonna be safe.
well the screenie is just 2,7 :D and just 1mb posted a 2,8 1,52 vcore and 32mb :fact: :woot:Quote:

Just popped the sucker in...
1. This thing is HOT. MUCH hotter than my week 24 which is a little hotter than my week 15 which is a little hotter than my week 16. This thing seems about as hot as a Winchester.
2. This thing looks to clock almost if not as well as my week 15. I'm not pushing it hard, but with mem @ 100 (just to test core) I'm priming @ 2750 @ 1.55vcore now for ~ 5 min. Don't jinx me.
Mine is:Quote:

2700mhz prime stable @ 1.5vcore on crappy air. Might get it down to 1.475 if I tried. Haven't tried between 1.425 and 1.5 yet. 1.425 gets ~ 2600mhz.
week 20 FPBW
1200+ batch code
hey guys i recently just bought a 3000 venice with this stepping
LBBLE 0520CPMW
NOW I own a week 16 that and im getting 2.6 ghz with hyper 6 100% prime 95 stable with 1.5 v..
so i will appreciate if someone can tell me or have test this stepping, cause if isnt good i probably sell it ( is still sealed in box hehe)
so if anyone having luck with this stepping
please post :toast:
I've got:
LBBLE 0520 EPMW (amd 3000+)
Prime stable for 1 hour @ 2808 mhz @ 1.47 vcore (312x9)

Hey guys, i have the same CPU as alphaOne! Would you consider it stable if it can run 3dmark03 and SP32m and not prime ? Prime fails in 5 mins @ 270x10 @ 1.48 but will run 24/7 @ 267x10 @ 1.48. Should i push more juice through this chip ? thanks.
- Michael.
No. Stable means it runs as flawlessly as if it were @ stock.
My chip does the same plus Prime @ 1.52 Vcore 10x2800 24/7 BUT I have found after playing Colin McRae Rally '05 for ~ 1 hour can make it not 100% stable, though only occasionally, so I use 1.536 Vcore for intensive gaming :DQuote:
