did any1 tried to downflash bios to ver. 1,8 ? I saw the Japanese results on the web and there's a thin hope that this will work.Quote:

Asus posted a new BIOS as of 03-03-2006 for the P4RD1-MX with support for "new CPUs". I can't think of many new socket 478 CPUs that came out since it's intro. I wonder if they added some CT-479 Lov'in?
Anyone tested P4V800D-X ?
My, p4p800Edlx suddenly refused to identify any IDE/Sata device so I went into town and by chance there was this p4v800d-x and I bought it straight away... (can allways fall back on a 2.8c if the ct doesn't work...)... have not tested yet was browsing around myself to see if it was compatible... results tomorraw...Quote:

The mobo did not post with a dotty, tried a pm740 and a pm760, even exchanged the ct's with no luck...
Ran it with a 2.6c though and got it up to 3.2 gig and was able to play BF2 at 1600x1200 but had to restrict some of the settings...
Then, after 2hrs of playing the mobo crashed and after rebooting it refused to run the ram in dual channel mode even though it happily said it was...???

BF2 min fps 30 max 80 @ 16x12... good gameplay

My p4800p800e-dlx ran the dotty just fine and BF2 min 60fps with all whistles and bells turned on...
I ordered two P800SE's as they where still available... then I will have one pm740 kit and one pm760 kit as spare...

I'll hopefully be testing a Dothan in my Asus P4P800-X + CT479 soon, looks like there's a few BIOS releases to choose from (including a Beta released less than a week ago it seems), so hopefully one of them will be of some use to me (existing knowledge of -X doesn't look promising, but nvrm). If not I'll have to have some fun with the mobile celeron 2.0Ghz & p4m 1.6Ghz that I got for silly money :)
The board managed to squeeze 2.1 out of my terrible 1.6Ghz williamette, lol a handy chip for BIOS flashes at least :D
I'm not sure if the mobo (still) functions, but I have an old S423 Asus P4T, a S423->478 socket adapter, a CT-479 adapter and I also have a Pentium-M 740 on its way. So if I'll find some time, hopefully soon, I'll try and see if it works. If it doesn't work with any of the P4T BIOSses, then I wonder if it might do when installing a P4T-E or even a P4T533-C BIOS on it. The P4T533-C BIOSses work fine on the P4T-E, those mobos are for a big part the same, but the P4T differs quite much compared to the P4T-E and P4T533-C so... Does any of you have an idea about the chances on success before I might try it out myself?
I found out btw, that Powerleap doesn't sell the PL-P4P adapters (about which I posted earlier on this thread) without a Prescott CPU attached to it. And according to them it's impossible to deattach the adapter and the CPU from each others. I can only find out by trying it out in the practice of course, but since the PL-P4P adapter/CPU combo is high on the price, I don't want to run the risk. I wonder if it's possible to achieve the same as the PL-P4P does, by doing some kind of pinmod instead... That would be a MUCH cheaper alternative, right. Does anyone here have any ideas about how exactly the PL-P4P might work?
