I think DDR974 with 4-2-3-1 might be better than DDR733 with 3-2-2-1. Anyway, you'll find that out soon :D

Think about it.. it's a small fraction of hardware that goes to OCers.. there must be a lot of jewels in Dells and such, and nobody ever even tries overclocking those :)

The wait isn´t over yet.
Now when I have a new can of LN2, the motherboard dies.
The only good thing in this sacrifice is that I found out how high the cpu can reach.

Those two mosfets died at the same time during SuperPI 8M (in fourth pass) run at 6.7GHz with 1.72V (real)..

Dead motherboard and the terrible "jackpot smell" in my workshop aren´t the only problems that I currently have.
With 3:4 divider the highest benchable FSB is 365 (timings don´t matter).
I have already benched at 365FSB, so I need either figure out the FSB VTT mod or get a P4 670 cpu with higher multiplier. 1:1 divider even with 3-2-2-1 timings is slow as hell :(

Fugger; DFI 925XE would be my second choice, but there is only one bios for the board and that doesn´t support N0 / 6xx series stepping cpu´s.
DFI won´t make any new bios versions for this board.

I can use 925X board bios, but then the highest DDR2 VDD is 1.8V for dual channel...

I´ll receive my Corsair 8000UL parts next week, so I´ll try some 4-4-4-1 action then. Even with those relaxed latencies, DDR1400 should be quite fast :D

Sorry to hear about your mobo Stilt. 6.7 is amazing though. Maybe u should look into making a fifth stage cpu power circuit like someone else did on these forums with an NF-7. Hopefully you can get ram that runs 370+.

All Abit 945/955 boards, Asus P5WD2 and MSI P4N.

I havent really been searching the forums the past few days and thn i stumble across this and i keep reading hoping to see the pi record beaten by a fair bit and then i see that the mobo died. H.opefully the next one is just as good if not beter.....and lives a nice long life

I doubt it would do any difference, since the mosfets don´t even warm up.
The cpu just takes too much juice.

Don't have the card yet...but this is what I'll have to work with for some 3D runs. Not the best stepping out there, but with 20C load temps it does 2.9GHz like nothing, so a Pelt is my next move. :cool:

I have only one cpu, 660.
Maximum SuperPI 1M stable frequenzy with stock cooling is 4.55GHz.

2MB L2 cache (660) is 1 second faster in SuperPI 1M compared to 1MB (560).
In SuperPI 8M there is no difference.

I was wondering if a program could be made to put small programs like superpi entirely in the cpu cache. I know superpi will probably be a bit too big but pifast would fit in the 2mb. I'm not a real experienced programmer and I know how complicated window's memory management is so it might not be possible, it's just a brainstorm.

Unfortunately, some elements would call it a "cheat," considering how the SuperPi version which uses all of the Precott's features was portrayed by some. :rolleyes: I've always thought that the point of a benchmark was to complete a task, not the program itself.

Of course, the Dothan makes that moot now, as it pwns.

He's "operating" at a much higher level when it comes to experience, resources, and skill...I'd love to have some serious runs at a nice OC like that myself..I've got the knowledge, just nowhere NEAR the cash to get a setup like that up and running. :(
