any OC results guys......Lowdog :)
not as main review... they only use this board for comparison with Intel nforce4 SLI
here:

Intel Pentium 4 660 vs AMD Athlon 64 FX-53(ABIT AN8 fatal1ty SLI)
AN8 Ultra is only 2.8 volts

Maximum HTT Overclock
We were able to take this board up to an incredible 345MHz HTT rock solid! Ran it 24/7 for a week without any errors whatsoever. Now that is indeed extreme. At this HTT,we are already running our 2GHz A64 @ 2.76GHz. Our multiplier was set at 8x with the HT at 3x. DRAM configuration was set at DDR266 giving us a memory bus speed of 230MHz (460MHz DDR) at this HTT speed.
Thats the AN8 Fatal1ty not the AN8 Ultra.
 How so.
go to the Abit website and have a looksee... there are two new boards... AN8 Ulta and AN8 V2.0 ;)Quote:

And on the DFI site the AN8 Ultra, Fatal1ty AN8 and Fatal1ty AN8 SLI all use BIOS ID 1.3Quote:
Note that we flashed our AN8's BIOS to the most current one at the time of the review, BIOS ID: 1.3.
1 more day and my Fatality AN8 SLI will be here :) I am pretty excited, though I dont expect much more of an OC now, just going for stability and tighter ram timings since this POS K8N Neo2 keeps causing me headaches :(
mine too
Waits patiently for upcoming clocks... :sofa:
me neither
well someone's gonna eventually get some clocks.....why not be the first one out boys

My package is scheduled for delivery this afternoon so it will be there by the time I get home. I will have to remove my POS Neo 2 and get Windows set back up, but I should have some results by the end of the night.
I will shoot for the highest HTT, and I will see if I can get my San Diego STABLE at 260x11 which was IMPOSSIBLE on my Neo 2.
 Hello precious.
I'm jealous, FedEX refused to deliver my package to me today because it was actually 1 day ahead of schedule so they said it would be tomorrow. I am so mad right now.
Did you update to the latest bios? It has full support for the new cores.
damn it dude
stop working, sleeping, thinking......get into OCing...i noticed an FX CPU in there....that should be a definate good or no good from you man...send some screenies this way :fact:

nice.... :)
situman... have you tried 3.55V yet on your BH6... :hehe:
how stable are the Vcore & Vdimm voltage...
does the mosfet get really hot when you set it between 3.4v-3.55v on vdimm :hehe:
Did you guys see the new ABIT Crossfire board? I am jealous because it looks like it can use the Nvidia SLI setup? Those are def. 2 nvidia cards in the pics  :slap:
no... abit didnt have any crossfire board yet...
at the computex.... they use ATI reference board on their booth
and Ocworkbench make typo error ... that is actually AN8-SLI Fatal1ty with uguru panel... not ATI Crossfire as they mention :slap:
230FSB....is your RAM capable of 230.....what is your current rig....as sig has a P4 in there......you should be able to do more than 230 tho....something not right there

Few observations:
1) 1T cause my computer to powerdown. So I ran it at 2T, dont really feel the difference anyways
2) After a total self-powerdown, overclocked settings goes back to default, especially HTT settings
3)NB heatpipe WORKS like a charm!
4)Prime Version is 2.38 or 238 watevers. It fails instantly at DDR333 divider, 230HTT, 5xHTT, 2225 timings at 2T
5) Cant really check for vcore, but from what i see it seems really stable. Did not do a full setup of the computer with new CPUz.
6)So far I am happy about the board. Feels stable without any of the Nvidia drivers (still has Intel Chipset drivers installed on the old XP installation). ANxious to play with it but definitely waiting for Cathar's G5.
7)Any pointers for ram timings for future reference would be greatly appreciated.
situman,
Heatpipe? So you got the AN8-SLi or AN8-Ultra? Not tha Fatal1ty, right?
I want to confirm the AN8-Ultra will have high VDIMM before I buy it. I know we think it does, but can anybody show proof? Screenshot or something? I can't find anything on Abit's site.
i have hte SLI non Fatality. Sorry but i cant stand having that loser's name in MY computer. Well put it this way. The non Fatality SLI costs 166. The Ultra version will probably fit between teh regular AN8 which costs 130 or so. SO the Ultra version will probably cost somewhere between 145-150. So for an extra 20 bucks or so, u have the option of going SLI and a GUARANTEED 3.55vdimm. The board is damn stable for a new release. Granted i was running it for only an hour or so.
Yeah, I know.
I just posted my old mobo in the for sale forum. ;)

Sorry for the suspense ... I was all set to go last night, but I just ended up running out of time. The card does fit in the bottom slot. Do you have to set the SLI bridge to SLI to use the bottom slot ? Cause with it set as Single it scores like 5000 3DMarks less than Im supposed to
link us the review when your done =]
i misunderstood...i thought you had trouble fitting but you eventually did it...my bad....looking forward to OC...i have a good feeling about this one......that's what i say every time i go fishing...

i will have some results tonight!!! I am hoping it comes before work so I can at least get it in my rig.
I have OCZ PC3700 Gold Rev 3.0 ram I am looking for 260x11 with 2.5-3-3-6 1T and I will be a very happy man ;)
I also ordered another 6800 GT but this time got the zalman cooler for it. I will let you know what clearance issues I run into, if any at all.

I tried as low as 3x HTT but stayed with 10x and I use 333 mem divider. Using 1T the system just powers down without going into windows. I wonder if its a bug or another Asus A8N SLI. ANyways I havent tested it out enough to say for sure. I wont be able to for another week or so. Waiting for a waterblock.
results tomorrow, worked ot and too tired to mess with it. i got a ton of pics to post :woot:
YES IT FITS!!!!! I built one for my friend using the XP90 cooler. U have to take off the stock cooler retentioner and use the one supplied with the XP90 and use the screws that comes with the thermalright. It screws right on the backplate. U CANNOT USE THE SCREWS that came with the mobo!

3.55v?
Again it was late and not much time. My trusty Muskin BH5 did not make it through 235 MHz @ 3.1 Volts but I will did juice it up some more just now. Still getting a feel for the board.
I hope you set it to cas1 from within bios, otherwise it didnt change it (you cannot adjust cas latency from anywhere except the bios).
:( damn
hmmmmm another excuse.... :slap: damn OC this :banana::banana::banana::banana:....squeez e the living daylights out of it...someone pls show some serious numbers

Glad you like. Doesn't seem to like my TCCD at all so far though :(
The AN8 doesnt like TCCD at all. I built one for my friend thinking TCCD would be perfect. It froze in windows and then restarted and i had to clear cmos everytime after that. Switched in some Corsair Valueram and running smooth, but still cant get 1T to work from the bios though.
i was initially disappointed when i saw DDR433.......but the link was telling me another AWESOME story....DDR533....you might wanna change your post there....that is just EXCELLENT.....DFI we have a board now which is properly using the voltage and will probably not ever have problems with blowing chipsets.....
ONE THING I NEED TO CHECK......the superpi seems a bit high....are you using 2T or something

no not sending it back.
Thank you for the settings tictac. I used them as per your pics and I just cannot get 300 MHz even with LDT of 3.
My highest is 290 MHz.
awesome results at 1T as well
i have a few suggestions to reach and pass 300FSB...i didn't even ask what TCCD modules you have....if EB i am surprised they reach 290........i am speaking from Corsair 4400C25 experience and Gskill i've seen in action
change TRAS to 7 or 8 and TRP to 4.....
use 256clk for Idle Cycle Limit........and Disable Dynamic Idle Cycle Time
Max Async Latency is nice and tight.....at 7 but you can push it higher to loosen if necessary....8/9
that should push you to 300+
if you get there try this:
tighten TRC and TRFC........12/14 or 14/16 or so(this one could make it harder to reach 300+ but will get better bandwidth)
BTW.....V0.60 beta tweaker shows a few more options...you should use that as well to show what your drive strength is
Great result so far :fact:

So far this whole "upgrade" to PCI-X from AGP has been a nightmare for me, I am hoping to find a way to keep my current OS intact without formatting b/c I have wayyyyy too much data to just format the damn drive. I may end up building a whole new machine by the time I'm done :(
partition it off man...keep 15GB for OS and rest of data...that's what i do so i can format and ghost all i like

Thanks for the tips dinos22, but to be honest I'm not going to bother trying to my PQI Turbo TCCD running at 300 MHz if it means less than 3-3-3. The same memory did 300 Mhz on both my DFI NF3 Socket 754 and MSI K8N Neo 2 with just using 3-3-3. 266 MHz @ 2-2-2-5 is good enough for me :D
Thanks for the settings tictac, I shall mention your name when I do my liitle article on the board :toast:
also try OCing with dividers......let us know how that goes.....you guys should be getting some kickback from Abit for great work so far and going out of your way to test things out......good on you......
sheik don't lower the main timings (i.e. 2.5-4-3-7-1T) just do the other settings and you should reach higher FSB with PQI....BTW those PQI are clocking real high man :woot:
also whatever happened to Lowdog the first owner....from Down UNder.....no results mate

whats the highest HTT the dfi nf4 got?
Ok, i got my board up and going and reinstalled windows :slap:
The bad news is I cannot get the OC results I was getting on my K8N Neo 2 which is kind of sad. 300 HTT=results back into safe mode and anything over 250 FSB results in graphical corruption or random reboots in windows. I set my memory to 333 and 266 speeds so its not the ram causing the issue.
I got 2 errors:
One was a usb blue screen, the other was an atapi.sys error so I really don't think I am using a right setting to lock the board. Can anyone tell me how to make sure the board is indeed locked and what in the bios I need to change?
I am feeding the ram 3.0v with 1.50 VTT (only did this once, usually 2.80V) and the processor is 1.62 b/c it overvolts a tad :woot:
Can anyone suggest some tight ram timings for my PC3700 OCZ Rev3.0 Gold series once I get this HTT figured out? Also, is the DDR400 the 1:1 lock? I noticed if I go over 200 HTT my ram does not increase with it. Do you have to use the other DDR such as DDR500 in order to increase the ram speed? I tried auto, spd, and manual none seem to follow the HTT? Pretty interesting you *CAN* set the ram Mhz faster then your FSB. :D
Thanks for the help guys. I am going crazy trying to figure out the PCI lock. :nono:
better luck next time
bios 14 is out. Anyone trying that one out yet?
