I've got a eVGA and I'm in sunny FL. So it's a little hot already but I've got great case ventilation! My eVGA has 3.6 ns ram, but I can't o/c past where you can go, I probably need those ramsinks too!Quote:

So as long as it arrives before 1-2'ish, i should be able to get some results in...otherwise i'll have to wait until next week.. :( the ramsinks should help you out, i only gained about 5mhz, but their not being actively cooled either...as for your 3.6ns ram, it prolly runs a bit hotter, so the sinks should benefit you more, especially if you had some better cooling on the gpu which happened to provide some airflow over their sinks...also, i posted back in conrad's thread about the 6600 volt modding and he's going to post a pic with info on where to read voltages when he gets home from work..hopefully i'll grab a pot tomorrow and get myself a vmem mod :)
LOL - nvidia needs to release new drivers..i was just playing around with 3D01,03,and 05...trying to publish some ORB scores...so i installed the 66.96 official drivers and whatnot, ran the tests, got some lower scores than i've been seeing, but then again, these drivers blow. lol. so anyway - for some weird reason i still can't publish the score - says its incomplete information or something..i dunno..i'll investigate tomorrow..but in the mean time, lol, get this..3D05 score WITH 66.96 was 2713. With the latest leaked drivers, 75.90, i scored a 3341! Thats one hell ofa jump if you ask me!!
On another note, i wonder if there is a hex hack to open up the other 4 pipes so we don't ahve to keep doing it soft mod way...i'm doubtful however due to an issue i had when i was flashed to 6600 that i failed to mention..even when flashed, i still had to softmod to get the extra 4 pipes, they weren't automatically there...so i dunno what that means..but if there was a hex edit to open them up in our original bios that would be mint! :) So now i'm going to bed, good night all.
Interesting... I have read that when you flash with a different bios it usually doesn't replace all your stuff with the new bios only part and I'm not sure what parts either. I'm 99% sure there must be a way to do it through the bios since that's how it's done in the first place (if you look at how you unlock the pipes in rivatuner if you don't do "custom" you "use vga bios" to determine the pipes). Unfortunately, the main way people have done that in the past is by flashing to another bios that has the unlocked pipes. Our only option is doing that with the 6600 which we haven't been successful with. I think we need to contract someone to have a thorough look at our bios. I think there must be a way to:Quote:

I think there's a limitation on how far you can go with B though through the bios. Good night to all!
ok - got the specifics from conrad about doing the vmem mod - i have classes all morning then i should be able to run to radioshack and get my pot, then solder her on. I'll update ya'lll later.
Im seriously impressed guys ... good dedication :D cant wait for the results :D
seems like an awesome budget card! nice job!
alright - got the vmem mod off - stuck at 695 on memory now..i think the chips are getting too warm though so hopefully the zalman will allow for a 100% gpu overclock and the magic 700+ on memory...time will tell..thats all for now :)
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rti2/videomod.jpg
Wow. 695MHz on the memory? Go pull off some quick 3DMark runs. Are you artifacting at that speed? I'll go look in one of my boxes later on to see if I have some extra copper sinks. They might just be BGA sinks, but they're better than nothing.
If you're in the US, I'll ship 'em to you for free. I'll PM you later on to let you know if I find 'em.
Hey conrad - thanks for the offer but that'll be unnecessary...as you see above, i have two BGA sinks on the TSOP's - copper - so they're cooling them. Only problem is there is really no air circulation..i don't have case fans other than the PSU because i have phase change cooling...hopefully when i get that zalman cooler it'll cool of the memory a bit too...once again thanks for the offer, but i got the ramsinks covered :)Quote:

Conrad - I don't know if the ramsink offer is transferrable... but I'm interested!
i dont' think pencil mod is possible for this one..since its not a resistor...anyways..i'm gonna take some photos, brb

Did you send your BIOS over to mvktech? If not, could you? It's a real hassle hooking up a floppy drive.
My 6200 showed up today, along with a DFI NF4-Ultra, and coolermaster 450W. The four extra pipes opened up fine and I'm running at 560/665. It got around 56,000 in Aquamark3 with my 3200+ at 9x270.
yes i did send my bios over to mvk - they wrote back to me today asking some more specifics. They said they are going to try and get it working then release a version 2.0a. :toast:

Reason I ask, is earlier you posted that you got 18.5k on 3dmark01 with your cpu at stock speed and 6200 @ 580mhz.... My 6200 @ 4 pipes and only 500mhz,
is pulling 18K (and only 512k cache cpu). So far I've had no luck softmodding with any driver or version of Rivatuner. Next, I'm gonna try modding the bios.
People dont seem to be having much success with this and the ones that do arn't seeing a lot of performance improvement. Hopefully, we can nail down whats going on with these cards...
EDIT: I see that the 3DMark01 score I mentioned was actually 18.8K. Point is still valid, however.
Thanks,
Jay
guys what memory is on gigabyte 6200 ?
Guys i here new user and i have 1 question
What u say about Asus EN6200GE 128Mb 128Bit?
can open a 8pipelines on this Graphiccard?
OC_is_life - yeah, as long as its a 6200 not a 6200 Turbo Cache you'll be able to open up the extra 4 pipes
Tedy - its either 4ns or 3.6ns TSOP style memory - most likely 4ns
DrJay - I'm pretty sure they're enabled...i see a big performance hit overall in 3dmark when i disable it. I'll try the fill rate test though, see what happens. We're working on getting NiBiToR to support these 6200 bioses, it doesn't at the current time. Soon we hope. Good luck.
I bought LEADTEK 6200 PCIE 128MB with Hynix 3.6ns
How exactly do i try unlocking ? Any links ? Thanks

Well, just wanted to jump in here and let you guys know that I have successfuly unlocked and overclocked my 6200 AGP. I have a Leadtek A6200 128 TD now running at 375/685 c/8 pipes.
3dmark03 - 5444
3dmark05 - 2314
Oh, and my cpu is a Athlon XP 2600+ and I have 768mb PC2100 DDR.
I'm not sure if it's just my AMD64 system that's propelling my scores, but those scores seem a little low (especially since you killed my clock speeds!). Are you sure you've successfully unlocked the pipes? I have read that some people get lower scores if the pipes are defective. Try testing with the pipes enabled and disabled.Quote:

Would you run the same comparison in 3DMark01?
The FM approved drivers kicked the     out of my card! LOL! I get ~2500 with the WHQL FM approved drivers in 3dmark05. I hope the reason for this is simply because those old drivers weren't tweaked for the 6200 since it's a relatively newer card.
lol ackbar - i just posted over on anandtech with a pretty lengthy explanation of our cause and backing you up for being legit :) anyways, the FM approved driver sucks major ass with these 6200's, but fret not, news sources say that nvidia is gearing up for a public release of the 75.90's...as they are in the last stage of beta now. When they come out we will kick some major ass :). I'm back in New Jersey finally and now i'm here until next sunday. I won't be able to get that new hsf for my gpu until monday when our mail center is open :( oh well. I wish i had some better timing..lol..i'm jonesing from not having an overclocked computer, instead i'm on a stupid little laptop..lol..oh well, i'm going to bed, have a good night guys. :toast:
Just been tweaking my AGP 6200 128mb with samsung 3.6ns ram. Bit of a strange beast is this card. It hasn't settled in either of my 2 mobos. In my A64 setup 2d is perfect but 3d crashes the windows and reboots. In my sempron A mobo it runs perfect 3d but crap 2d!!
I have hit 2600marks in 3dmark2005 but haven't saved it on the orb. Published the one below .
hopefully working link.
Struggling to get my cpu speed over 440mhz but can get ram upto 670mhz, but cannot have both up high or the coolbits tweak fails the test and will not set the higher speeds.
The 8pipe mod works perfect with this AGP version card which puts the myth about agp cards not modding at all to bed. AGP cards wil mod!! Using riva tuner 5.2
This 6200 blows my R360core 9800se that softmods.
Rob H
update just done a 2660marks will update shortly
Here is that 2660 score on the orb now.
2660marks in 3dmark2005 with a sempron2200 at 1800mhz
Talk about budget!, the mobo, videocard and cpu cost £130!

any links how to mod ? 10x

Thanks for running the test James. You may be right about the cpu limitation. That 900 point increase could have been caused by the speed increases, hard to tell with the cpu holding the card back.Quote:

I would personally get the 6600. The only reason I bought a 6200 is because a local store had them and I didn't want to wait. I probably would have saved a little money with Newegg as well.
I see the egg has non-GT 6600s in AGP format also.
Actually their cheapest 6600 is $109; $18 more. My bad.
yes just get a 6600 and get it over with. It is just a little more money.
Lol i also made mistake buying 6200...20$ and i could have bought 6600 instead :(
gonna try to return it....
Why is it a mistake? I have yet to have seen a single 6600 that can get the GPU clock and memory speeds that AB86 can get. To be honest, I have only seen/heard of a handful of cases where someone couldn't get ridiculous overclocks with the 6200. Since the card is ~$100, $20 is a big deal (20%)! I wouldn't spend an extra $20 on a card I would consider a value card just to get a negligible improvement in performance.Quote:

why i dont have temperature readings ?

Tedy - read back a few pages regarding the temp readings..6600/6200 doesn't have temperature reading enabled in the bios although this feature is available on the pcb. There is a link describing how to hex edit the bios and enable this feature. Both Ackbar and myself have done this successfully. :D
i'm too dumb :D
would you be so gentle to PM with details :)

congratulations tedy - thats some nice OC...i just sent you the pm regarding the temperature monitoring...good luck with that...if you hit 700 on memory i will be very jealous!! lol..thats my holy grail as of right now...i can't wait to get back to my computer and start tweaking more... :) thats all for now - good luck tedy - keep cranking that card :toast:
Glad you got all that figured out Tedy! Feel free to PM me as well if you need some help with some of the trickier things. I don't see any point in spending even $10 more on a 6600 when the 6200 overclocks like crazy.
Great job! :toast:
WOW!!! I have the same Leadtek card you have but have been afraid to try clocking the core higher then 375. Guess I'm going to have to give it a shot. I can tell you that you can go higher with the memory. I have the memory at 685 now with no problems.Quote:

Some great results guys.
I wounder when a manufacturer will catch on and fit this card up with some faster Ram :)
Just overclocked the core to 400 and ran 3dmark03 again with good results.
375/685 c/8 pipes - 5537
400/685 c/8 pipes - 5709
I'm a little conserned about the exclamation point. Have to get the temps to see whats going on.
Ok, got the temp monitoring mod working. :)
my core is running at 65c, which I'm assuming is pretty hot. Thats with core core @ 400. Should I be concerned??
65C at load isn't anything to worry about; my X800XTPE at stock would regularly reach 75C at load, but that is in spec.
thank you guys....will try this bios thing today after job...is it hard ? :D
It's very simple, but just make sure you keep an unaltered backup of your original bios in case anything happens (power goes out while flashing) and also have a spare PCI card handy if possible.Quote:

no pci gfx tho :)
is it possibel to unlock the pipelines on a AGP card to?
What card is better Asus GeForce 6200 EN6200GE/TD 128mb 3,6ns Hynix or Gigabyte GeForce 6200 128Mb 4ns Hynix
I'd go with the asus - 3.6ns ram is always better than 4ns :)
Blueberry - unfortuantely, it seems that most people with 6200 agp cards are unable to unlock the pipes as they are locked on the actual chip - you can check in rivatuner though..you might be lucky :)
AlterBridge86, I have a AGP 6200 and had no problem unlocking the 4 extra pipes. I have the Leadtek AGP 6200.Quote:

what driver did you use? The official 66.93's don't really support 6200's - sure they recognize it but they suck ass in actual use..lol...use the 75.90 drivers, you can get them over at www.guru3d.com . They are the most recent drivers and they are next to be released. Good luck.
Maybe it didn't actually soft-mod....
Has anyone ran before and after soft-mod fill rate tests in 3dmark01?
I would do it but it would be pointless as my 6200 wont even make it so far as to appear to have modded successfully.
I have not run any '03 tests on my card yet but I believe an overclocked 6200, even at 4 pipelines should be capable of 5K + 3dmarks.... Heck, I scored 4,799 on a 5600U @ 580mhz core....these cards should be capable of way more. My point is, I'm not certain '03 or '05 scores mean anything as regards to 4 or 8 pipelines.
I'm not trying to be overly skeptical or irritate anyone here..... I just want to know if this is really working.
Thanks,
Jay
i been using 71.84
am i running 1:1 at all ?

dr_jay i been sceptical myself also
i been getting bad results in 2001se and 2005....

You did get a nice jump in scores there. The soft-mod would seem to have worked for you. However, for some, the results aren't so obvious or conclusive.Quote:

2k3 is balanced.
2k5 is more GPU than CPU.
BTW, I got 6600s that should be here by Thursday, along with my new Dimension 8400; I'll post results.
tedy - that might have been the GPU throttling when you had it at 450...maybe it got too hot?
I have questin can i Open Pipes on Club 3D GeForce 6200 256Mb?
most likely - only way to tell is to open up riva tuner and have a look in "Low-Level Hardware" settings...good luck with it :)

There is no driver supoort for 6200 cards in SLI configuration. There is no provision on 6200 cards for SLI bridges. Therefore, SLI isn't going to happen with these cards. ;)
I know there is not a provision on 6200 cards for SLI connector. However, the DFU ut can do 16/2 SLI which is somewhat decreased performance, but still a pretty good increase. If someone can get the 6200 to flash to a 6600bios, can 16/2 sli happen?Quote:
