Thanks a ton. I got PAT enabled but my bandwith is still in the 65% range. Gonna look at that link you gaveQuote:

As a side note, PAT/GAT was never intended to be enabled on the 865 chipset. These are some kind of optimizations that the manufacturers try to imitate.
That might be why it won't work.
This i getting a little OT here, but can you post in your thread under the Intel section exactly what you have tried and what enabled PAT for you?
Also, for more info and a tweaker, check this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=43926
More info in these:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=25266
Try to find the CTIAW program, it is great for checking PAT, timings, bandwidth and so on.
is normal that at 243mhz i have pat enabled???
p.s. plz can some one link to me the post hipro posted the settings to reach hight fsb??? thx...
Thanks... I tried all of those things but still no go. Waiting my BIOS from Abit :stick:Quote:

Oh, yes, and the pic for mod:

Can anyone maybe help me?
I have done the droop, chip and agp mod at the as8 board from my brother.
everything was working fine. I put vchip to 1.52v, agp to 1.7v and the droop was first time small enaugh.
the 3.0 p4 was able to get 274mhz, before only 266mhz stable.
but after first time setting vagp to 1.75v the vchip mod has no effect?!
I tryied another vr cause I thougt the first one was broken, but with a new one the same thing, vhip is at 1.21v and nothing will happen.
I double checked the soldered cables, unsoldered and resoldered them but no effect will happen to the vchip after turning around the vr, still 1.21v
Did anyone know what happened to the mainboard? I hope you can understand my problem ;)
Everything else is working fine.
Thanks Benny
Hi.
Let's say I am an averaga overclocker...and that my max FSB is about 275MHZ. Which mods are recommended for me to do? Beside the vdroop mod. Will others really matter or are they just for hardocore OC?
PS, where to put extra heatsinks and fans?
the NB vmod would help you get more fsb, or a more stable 275 fsb.
ok ive done the vcore, droop, vchip, and vagp mods, there all working pretty nicely :P Thanks hip.
-CaT
You're welcome guys.............. :)
PS.....Try to work the AS8 with the 800 stripe and not with th 667 one........... ;)
hey hipro i think i found a way to trim vfsb up higher :) Ill talk to ya tomorrow
-CaT
um so 1.664 for the vdroop is the best?
my VR is set to 1.686Kohms and that works the best for me...
-CaT
what numbers do you get?
1.45 idle 1.44 load
i find w/ vcore and droop mod, it flucuates less
-CaT
alright thanks.
New question, if i do the vagp, how does this hlep my fsb,(right now im at like 270) and do i set the 50k trimmer to 50k?
Do you think it is worth it if i just want to go to 280?
Also could my card take 1.9v? Its a fx5200
by "the NB mod" you mean the vchip mod ?
i think im talkign about hte vagp mod.
All i could find at radioshack was a 1.5K resistor with 5% tol. I put it in and it goes from like 1.42 volt on full load to 1.44 on idle @ 1.4375 so I guess its okay?
sounds fine to me, atleast it's alot better then it originally was :DQuote:

that sucks.

Do not try to give advice on faking an RMA :(
-Kunaak-
Oh it's too late to fake an RMA anyways I got so much solder after 2-3 hours of trying to fix it it was too hopeless to even grab the alcohol and acetone and clean it up ;-) Oh well its $88 or so new on newegg without the uguru clock so it's not a HUGE loss, at least I didn't fry the processor or something over $100
Your just going to throw it out?
Well I'm saving it for parts (the capacitors, NB/SB Heatsinks) incase I need any for a mod or something. I guess if you wanted it you can have it if you're willing to pay the shipping but 2 IC Chips are completely ripped off (I got a little angry lol).

Yeah idk if i should try it again. Unless if someone lives in the area and is willing to do it for me and can a pretty secure and tight soldering job ill pay you like 10-15 bucks.

Is Abit AS8 vdimm somehow "locked" at 3.5V, because I cannot get it higher (using modded ddr booster). Interesting thing is that VTT is still raising, but vdimm stays at 3.5 (readings from uguru and booster display).
Will there be a problem if I raise VTT near 2V, using 3.5V vdimm? Or is there some way to bypass this lock ?
You can always send it out for service :PQuote:

that seems to be the limit of the Uguru program but take your multimeter and check the actual voltages, cause I know I got mine up to 3.9 volts, when I thought I was stuck at 3.5 volts.Quote:

I think you are right :)
I dont really trust those windows numbers, where can I measure vdimm with multimeter?
its in the modding directions
I got kingston hyperX KHX3000 today (PC3000 ;) ), BH5 memory.
Since this is the most suitable thread i've decided to put my question here.
What would be the optimal settings for this memory? Becase I used to have winbond UTT in and when changing to this modules windows didn't boot up, so i had to change everything back to AUTO that it work.
Any tips?
Hipro5 thank you for your work :bows:
I have some questions about the mods. First what voltage for the caps on back(100nF-1uF)? And what is in addition to these caps? I have circled them in your pic, looks like 2V120V/S3141. MOV?
Again thank you

The voltages should be over 6.3Volts....They are for the VCore........Those two black ones are SMD Tantalium electrolytic capacitors and were ripped off of another mobo so as to be soldered there......They are also for the VCore......Most of them are 47uf - 100uf / 2V - 6.3V.... ;)

what does the N/B strap CPU do?
In AS8 it enables/disables the PAT and forces the rams to be a bit more faster......but ain't worth it to have it at 667 coz you lose a lot of overclocability of the rams and mobo......It worths only if someone plays with very low fsbs...... ;)Quote:

As for 3:2 config. and UP TO 36x+MHz fsb.
Vdimm = 3.2 to 3.4Volts
Vchip = 1.50 to 1.9Volts (higher fsb=higher Vchip)

N/B Strap CPU As = PSB800

As I can understand, you have to play with your Rams IF your CPU can easy handle it......Also try to max out your VAGP up to 1.65Volts(without mods)Quote:

Well right now I'm 1:1 245 with 3.2 vdimm in the BIOS. Just to see how high I could go I set the 5:4 ratio which brought the ram down to a little over 200 fsb and was still unstable. I then set the cpu to 1.40v just to see and it still reboots shortly after entering Windows. I'll try anything so what are your thoughts?
What Rams do you have?
Its Mushkin Blue bh-5 from the recent release. Its tested stable to 240 3.3v so I know I'm pushing it but just for kicks I tried to up the vdimm up to 3.4 at 250fsb and still a no go. Like I said before even at 5:4 I can't get above my now 245 limit. After reading over this thread again for some help I saw your post about replacing the nb cooler so thats my next step. It's about all I can figure since the cpu is under water and staying nice and cool at 45 load. Think it will help?
Did you put into bios the settings I have posting for the BH-5 Rams and at 5:4 config..?
i get the missing file or corrupt error, what is this all about, BTW that i can boot normally once i go normal. Its at 280fsb on sata.

EIST Tool works great but is there no way to set it outside of windows?
See EDIT :)
I am glad to see you got something to play with, now max that ram out ;)
Now you've gone and done it. I can't stop! But even with the 14x multi I am hitting a wall at 280 so I guess untill I finish the mods I'm stuck. Hopefully they will help.
stuck at 280 in 5:4??? have you tried all hipro5 settings???v-agp is raised at 1,65??
Well I don't have the vchip mod done yet so I have all but that set for the Hipro5 300 5:4 settings and I'm running 1.77 on my vagp. Everything is nice and cool so it must need voltage somewheren hopefully its the vchip.
Vchip and VFSB should both be done, cause I think one directly affects the other.
see...
when say I set the Vchip to 1.4 volts, then the VFSB to 1.7, then my OC's are no better, then if I had no mods at all.
if I leave one voltage at stock, then just mess with the other, then my OC's aren't much better.
if you can get both voltages in the green, then your OC's generally work alot better.
when I was running Vchip at 2.1 volts.
then the VFSB at 1.75 volts, both voltages are in the green, and my 5:4 and 3:2 settings both work a hell of alot better.
but if one of the voltages are in the red, then my FSB's just error out, at the 2 minute mark in Memtest 86, and result in BSOD's when windows is trying to boot.
so the kep seems to have something to do with keeping both of those voltages in the green range of UGURU EQ.
heres some results.
if I have anything in the red, then I can't boot any higher then 14x300, at 5:4 cause 240 causes a million errors.
but upping the voltages, and keeping them green in UGURU gives me alot more room to OC with, before it starts freezing again.
unfortunatly, I am near the limits of what this CPU can do, as 4.4 ghz is its max so far, so I can't try any higher then about 14x315, but I will soon, with better cooling, cause I want to see how far I can take the ram at 5:4.
kunaak can you do some pics of your v-fsb mod???

I don't want to run high voltages anymore then anyone else does...
but I am also very willing to kill hardware for a OC, so I took the chance, and found that the VFSB is fine at 1.6, as long as the GMCH is about .1 volts higher then the VFSB.
if it's not, all I get is severe instability, even at low FSB's.
hm, what do you mean works better, did you saw any difference with the vfsb mod?
hipro5 or anyone else I need a little help. It seems while working with the vchip mod I knocked the resistor off. Any chance of finding what type it is to hopefully replace it or fix it somehow? This is a good board and I don't want to add it to my pc graveyard. :(
Just read the hole 178 posts :D
Im wrote down all the things to buy and now i have to speend at least 2-5 hours finding them :(
WE should have a collection of links on where to buy condensators and all the other stuff. If I could just order it from ANY contry here in Europa I would be willing to pay the extra $
:D
I have the DFI 875P-T but its REALLY a dead beat and I just goot the Abit AS8-V and Im hoping that the mods will be the same :D
I will Reply on the matter when I find all tha rigth parts :D
BTW hip05 YOU BLOODY ROCK. I would love for you to geet the Asus 955 X board, we should make a donation to you and buy doing so incurage you to make mods for that board :D
Im going to buy one when my pay check geets on the bank account. mayby I could send it to you and you could play with it and do some mods???
And I would ofcourse pay you a 100 $ or somthing so you would be abel to buy one your self???
Does that sound like a okay deal to you???
Regards a greatful dane from the contry og Vapochill, whaterchill and Mach :D
Thanks M8........I am not going to buy a 955 mobo yet........It's Dothan's season now.......Maybe later..... ;) :)
Okay :)
just send a PM when you are up for it :D
BTW maybe one could hear some result on your dothan power? :D
That all the OF you will hear from me :D
whats the highest fsb i could achieve with no other mods than the vdroop?
I can't get above 250 but thats just me. With just the vagp and vdroop I get 270+.
Depends on the MB, but probally around ~270.Quote:

oh really because thats where mine 3.2j craps out. So i have to vmod more... I really odnt like doing it, lol but im getting a vapochill soon so im looking for 280-290.
So which mod should i do for 290? vagp, vfsb, vchip im kind of confused.
vAGP and VFSB is all I needed for 300 FSB.Quote:

EDIT:
Why do the Vagp mod. If you are using a PCI grafikcard for max fsb and low power consumtion, then why do a Vagp mod?
And if you have a 24/7 365 computer wont it damage your grafikcard running above 1.65 Vagp???
BTW thaks for a great guide. Went on wekation do do the mods away form the woman :p
HEHE
I ran 1.95v for a good 3 months and I didn't have any problems.
Most of my hardware doesn't last too long anyways. So knocking its life in half isn't that big of a deal.
Plus how are you going to run 3d benches with a PCI card?
I did all the mods, But I couldent do the capasitor mods becaus I want to mount the board in my case and the small SMD capasitores I was not abel to buy.
Only need to do the stilt Vdimm mod thing, why havent you done that HIPRO5
No need to do the Vdimm mod coz I'm using my DDR Maximizer...... ;)Quote:

WTF never mind, did the mods work alrigt I said to my self, :(
PC starts and in the blackbox it shows 8.3 and starts up, Then It shuts down after 2½ secunds and it shows 9.9 in the box/ led display.
I have testet powersupply, tried booting without ram and graficcard but til the same 9.9 Error :(
Damm what a waste of time modding :(
Any sugestions?
Also meseared all the resistores and they are correctly set.
Next I will tire clearing cmos, and just hoping that will help.
Can It be that I have a 570J in the mobo and it does not reconise it??
Cleared Cmos, and that was all it took.
What a laugh.
The motherboard now states that I have to De-assert Cpu core voltage...
Im having relatives over on a move in party, so I will have to check later :D
so if i want over 280 i need vagp and vfsb? i understand vfsb, but not vagp. What is vagp used for?
ok well i attemped all of em and i think i made the right solder/ mobo connections, but now when i try to turn it on, it turns on for 2 secs shows error messages 9b and 9f and shuts down. What do i do?
don't worry, your boards fine.
if it turns on, even for 2 seconds, its working.
just somethings shutting off.
try to turn all your VR's back to the stock voltages, or as close as possible to it.
my AS8, I modded it soooo damn much, that it takes so little to make it do exactly what your experiencing. for me, it usually means I have the VChip, or VFSB too high.
sometimes it happens when I run the VAGP more then 2 volts too.
I have every mod done to this board, that can be done.
with 7 volt mods, its extremely easy to mess up one voltage alittle too far.
usually takes me about 10 minutes to figure out what I messed up and fix it, once I get the 2 second power thing happening.
but when it happens, atleast that means the board still works, just means I gotta take the voltages alittle lower.
well i firurged out the problem, i gforgot hte 4 pin 12v atx power, so now it boots up and thats all the mods i need tot do for the board right? vdroop, vfsb, vchip, and vagp. I have all the doler points done right, now alli have to do is find 50k pots.
BTW what does solder in parrelel mean?
#198
Parallel means that you take the end of 2 resistores, and connec them like this
----0000----
----0000----
Seriael means that you line them like this
" ----0000-----0000-----"
HAHA Kunaak I got so pissed that I sold my 6800 Nu to a freind and my 3x 256 A-data pc4800 and bougth a Lousy 6600 gfx, 2 x 256 Mb Crosair pc5400C4 and the Asus P5DW2 :)
But Im keeping the board anyways :)
Just found that I have Vagp resistor set at 3.45 K0hms :p gees thats bad :D
My mistake :)
but dont we connect in parrelel for all the mods?
how could i be able to use my sata hds when ocing?
