He booms a lot but doesn't do much thinking apparently. It is true that advertisers are claiming that there is a difference between the HTT on the S754 and S939 motherboards. This is just another gimmick they use to justify the inflated S939 prices.

The truth is 5x LDT (1000 HT / 2000MTs) is available on all NF3 250 Pro chipset motherboards, not just S939. The K8NS Pro has 5x LDT as does most of the new motherboards.

The funny thing is that it doesn't mean a thing right now because it is not even close to being utilized. Some day it might be a factor (the max speed of the HTT) but right now it means nothing. Most people turn the LDT multi down to 3x, 2.5x or even 2x to get more stability during overclocking sessions.

Heboomsalot makes a career out of reading BS on review sites and then reporting it to us as if it is his own 1st hand knowledge. Not sure why he feels like he has to do this. I think he's a nice guy really. Just a bit on the needy side.;)

Yeah it slowed OPP down so much he had to get the #1 score in the world on one. On a 3700+. Hmmmmmm...he had 2 FX-53's, a 3500+ and 2 3800+ chips, all S939, yet he chose to break the record with the "slower HT hinder" that needs to "compensate by more cache". But doesn't the FX-53 have BOTH 1MB cache AND dual channel? Wow, the FX-53 must REALLY be compensating for something bad, right? Cause that's the reason the S754 has 1MB. under 2K3 server it would be 2660 about.
I thought of having a problem with my BH5 and I am almost on have tested boot with 230 as pkrew said to to me , therefore I lend them to a friend. Later he return them to me , i retest them with 230fsb at boot ....and it works !!! I make superpi at 273 1:1 with 3,75vddr

Of course the DC chips do some things well (as long as they don't have to process large amounts of data or talk to the busses too much). I don't think anybody takes the position that Newcastles with DC can't do anything better than the ClawHammer with SC. That would be a stupid thing. However, when it comes to everyday applications (you know, where the CPU has to actually move some data AND do some internal processing as well, like in videogames and other realworld apps, or running benches that test more than CPU internals) Newcastles don't do well at all against the ClawHammer (or any other 1MB L2 chip).

storm even in cache intensive games such as doom 3 the Clawhammers do slightly better and in everyday applications the CH wins a couple NC wins some.

I'd say in doom 3 the 3500+ only being down 9/10ths of a frame rate compared to the 3400+ means the NC is doing well especially toating the mighty P4 EE. oh ya the EE has 2MB L2 :D

He's using the Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939. You want one? I have one I'm thinking of selling. I was keeping it just in case I wanted to mess with it but I like the Asus so much I don't think I ever will.

I don't like them, but for overclocking they're better than the A8V in most cases (provided you do a bunch of vmods). The stock volts suck.

might have to pick up a DFI mobo if it does as hyped/tested, and couple that with 2 sticks of BH5 and some OCZ help and see what my 3500+ can do :D

You should understand though that if I ran those clocks on my FX-53 I would have scored in the neighborhood of 34-35k already, even at only 2730MHz.

No disrespect intended but you couldn't hit 35k on a Newcastle no matter WHAT you did. And I haven't seen a Newcastle on the front page yet. So far you're about 2600 points short, and it's only going to get worse as more people get cooling for their ClawHammers.

Still, a great job! I wish I could hit those mem speeds on my A8V, but without a vmod it's about as likely as a Newcastle hitting the front page.;)

Storm forget your A8V, do the vio=vddr mod on your gigabyte , and you 'll be very happy.
As pkrew said , set your FSB at 230 in bios and boot (if you have ram problems past 210 mhz).

Best so far is in my sig with stock x800xtpe clocks, ive passed 3dmark03 at 589/598 but i'll be adding more vgpu and going to 600/600+ so my video card should play ball in gett'n that goal.

Needless to say my system is working MUCH better with my new powersupply, im not exactly sure how long my TC550 had been undervolting on all my rails but this ocz powerstream is definitly a kickass unit and worth every penny.

I could easily take out Storms 30.8k 3700+/x800xtpe all air score but im hope'n to do it at stock clocks on my vga card.

I can force my card to clock fairly easily, the question is how far will a 2.7ghz air capable chip go on a r404 modded mach1.

Yea im hope'n for 3ghz, but with my PC i'll either have to vdimm mod my board for 275x11 1:1 or hope for that out of the DFI when its released.

A8V doesn't Vmod well. Thats one reason the OCZ booster isn't recomended for it.

DFI should kick butt if it has the 3.1v with no mods :D

well ive decided to vdimm mod my board anyway, 270x10 1:1 will be need'd for 32k on air. Got my card to 608/608 with memory artifacts, clear as a bell at 594 vmem tho.


Hopefully i'll be able to hit radioshack today after work and get 4 SMD grabbers, some wire, a 50k VR and something i can use for a tip to a vdimm check point extension.

Well I think that puts to bed a certain challenge that was made from another thread as well as a few people's predictions......!:banana: :D

yea, there are still some more points left at those speeds, i should have gotten around 420fps in car high and the extra gpu speed i can get now should push me into 290fps range in nature as well as a couple of more points in drag. But no where near enough to get 32k.

Next step is vdimm mod to 3.0 maby 3.1vdimm. Then off to get the elusive 31k air stock x800xtpe and 32k all air scores, and maby 15k air on 3dmark03 and 80k in am3(very doubtfull)

Then sometime in september/Nov, R404 Modded mach1 on the 3500+, mcw-50T on the x800 and mebbe some more voltage with 4 80cfm fans cooling 2 '77 boneville sized heatercores to keep that undercontroll. Hopefully 275x11 1:1 and 660/625 ish clocks on the x800 will get me in the 34k range somewhere.

Looks like the DC makes up for half the L2 Cache just fine in Doom3 FPS benchmarks...
