If you get the VIVO so yes... In fact it comes default with 1.6ns RAM and 16 pipes, no need to flash. Also I heard it OC's superbly and the bigger stock cooler is cool too :) I'm getting it next week. ;)Quote:

I have it watercooled and temps are 30°C idle, 37°C load

540 is nice.. and yes ur right.. i was thnking the same. When I did 520/560 and got benching, I got around 12k, as some ppl got like 13-14k :confused:
mine modded to 16 pipes (sapphire x800 pro vivo) but it kept on rebooting when i was in windows.

would a dual heatpipe zalman do the trick?
shouldnt get that hot at stock? weird. try booting it wen ur rooms real cold, if it works then, you'll know the problem is heat.
well, stock u mean, stock XT speeds?
if i clock it down to x800pro speeds everything is ok again.
have u done the mod to give it more voltage? just requires a 2b pencil. maybe thats whats causing ur problem.
and looking at the ati overdrive tab will show u the current temp of your gpu. Try checking that while having atitool scanning for artifacts, so u can see what temps it gives under load.

I am getting EXTREMELY frustrated here, its been about 2 hours, I have used 4 flash utilites and 5 different bios versions(including Pro VIVO bios') in different orders and that but I cant seem to get 16 pipes AHHHHHHHHHH
I CANT use the Gigabyte flash utility...and i think thats why it wont give me the 16 pipes everyone else has used teh utility and it worked fine

You think they got smart enough to lock the BIOS. I bought several Sapphire X800 Pro Vivo's I think 8 or 9 for friends and co-workers and everyone flashed fine with the gigabyte flash utility and make sure you use the gigabyte BIOS to unlock it I think thats the only once you can use to unlock the 16 pipes.

Use that and the gigabyte flash utility and it should work.
Also try another floppy disk and use the version thats link maybe it somehow got corrupted in the transfer. So try putting it on a floppy again.

now with any other flash util it goes to showing the ASIC and everything and then shows that it wrote 65xxx bytes and verified them, but the gigabyte just sits there(AND ITS THE ONLY ONE THAT NEEEEEEDS TO FREAKIN WORK! AHHHH)

I got the bios and flasher from there, they also have a Pro bios which detects your card as an X800 Pro with Pro speeds but 16 pipes if your card cant quite make the XT speeds

Successful.
Used both Gigabyte & ATI bios.
Runs smoothly.
So... Whatever the results are, add 1 for "successful" & 1 for "unsuccessful" flashes.
In other words, I've had 3 in my possession that 2 have been successful & one was a P.O.S PowerColor w/ 2ns ram on opne side & 1.6ns ram on the other.
Selling that one ASAP to get myself a real X800XT... Hoping that since it'll be a "real" X800XT, it'll OC a bit higher than my last 3-4 cards...

I have the sapphire, does XT clocks AFTER the mod easily! + it Ocs pretty damn good, 550/580 after mod did 572/590 before

The modded flashrom from techpowerup seem to work the better then the Gigabyte one IMO because it let me flash to 16 pipes on a ATI brand x800pro vivo.
Thanks WildKard for directing me to them. All I needed was the modded flashrom so it wouldn't store info about the old bios.

Just got a brandnew Club3d x800 pro vivo and successfully enabled the remaining 4 pipelines but the card is not able to handle the XT speeds :(
I can only get the core to about 530MHz with 1.4V and the RAM starts cause artifacts at something around 500MHz.
I will order another one and sell the worst one.
is 510/530 a good overclock for an air cooled sapphire x800 pro vivo?

Does anybody else not have overdrive appear in the catalyst control panel after the flash to XT PE? I've never had it available, until just a minute ago when I quit out of UT2K4. Windows detected a new monitor and I was able to use the DVI connection, which I haven't been able to use since I switched from a 9700 Pro. Windows also detects the same new monitor on the first boot into windows after a new video BIOS flash, but in both instances, the DVI connection stops working after a restart. This time, after I exited UT2K4, overdrive was available for the first time as well. As usual though, I lost both overdrive and the DVI connection after a restart.
I've been trying to find a way to get these drivers to recognize the DVI connection on my card, but haven't been able to even after help from ATI and Samsung's tech support.
Anybody know wtf is happening?

w00t, I finally get to vote. :D Powercolor VIVO, Gigabyte BIOS, with core markings of: 215RADCGA11F GC0027.1 0424AA Works great with stock Gigabyte settings, OCed to 544/547 before flashing. I was worried more about the RAM than the core, ATI tool froze the RAM at only 570 before the flash, and the core froze at 553. Now if it freezes, no artifacts, I should be able to pencil mod it with good results, right? Oh yeah, has Overdrive tab, and 16 pipes reported in ATI Tool. :cool:
is the XTPE BIOS better for overclocking than the PRO VIVO BIOS?
Haven't tried OCin' it yet, lol. :rolleyes: I just did a quick '01 bench, then started gaming on it. :D Had to see if it was stable. ;)

For some reason Gameve has issues with puttin the right pics with the product description. :rolleyes: When I ordered mine, I went by the pic, & ended up with a Pro, so had to reorder by the product description, then they sent me a VIVO, lol. So if that holds true, that SHOULD be O.K. You could kick up $20 more, and get the Powercolor VIVO, to get the games, but that one should be OK too. ;) On looking twice, the specs on that one say Video In: No, so if it were me, I'd order the Powercolor. Especially when it says exchange only.

After b!tching for so long about my second X800Pro VIVO (PowerColor w/ 2ns/1.6ns ram) not being able to flash w/ the X800XT bios & enable the 4 pipelines, I finally listened to someone who told me to quit my b!tching.
I was tempted to give up on it but decided to try out the flashrom16/empty.bin & then re-flash with the X800XT bios & WTF?? It WORKED!!!
So anyone that can;t get the extra 4 pipelines using the "normal" flashrom, use the flashrom16 & empty.bin from techpowerup.
Make sure that you save your old bios first, then use flashrom16 & empty.bin to empty the bios & then flash your VC's bios straight away with the laster ATI X800XT PE bios (520/560).
WORKS WONDERS on a card that I swore was a p.o.s card....

w00t, I finally located a pencil, lol. :D My voltage was 1.402, and would keep crashing out of benches and games (only after the BIOS flash). Turnin' down the clocks helped, so I was pretty sure it just needed more voltage. So today, I got it to 1.496v, and she runs @ 534.6/580.5 just fine. :cool: Funny thing, like was mentioned in another thread, it didn't help my 3DMark scores much, so my measly 2.4 GHz. just ain't doin' the card justice now. ;) Good thing I have a couple more chips to try out. ;) At least now, the card's PLENTY stable for benchin' & gaming. :D

Got mine yesterday at CC. BBA retail X800Pro. Had 1.6NS SAmsung, rage chip, and the yelloe connector. Came home tested and flash was good. Running at XT PE speeds, but I can't get much more. Will not not do the pencil mod till i mod my artic rev 2 cooler to fit on it. but its 100% stable, 25K in 01 and 12,4xx in 03. 03 seems a bit low to me. I might try and do a format and see if that helps. Most people say they get around 1000 point jump at the same speeds when running on the X800Pro stock.

I agree, 99% sure it will work. Hell its working on Built by Ati cards with vivo so by all means it will work on yours.

BBati x800pro vivo. Can't run XT clocks, couldn't unlock the pipes through bios flash. bought from cusa.
Used the hardmod to unlock the pipes and I'm about 20mhz shy on core/mem. No voltmods as I have pencil tricks and I can't find the solder iron for the life of me.
Did you try this method?
The hardmod has about a 5% success rate, if that, so I seriously doubt that's what enabled the extra pipes. I've tried it on an X800 Pro and could not get it to mod. You probably did something wrong.Quote:

I just got another Connect 3d X800 Pro Vivo and flashed it with XT-PE Bios and slapped a ATI Silencer 4 on it. It handles XT-PE speeds without any issues so far.
I have another Club 3d X800 Pro Vivo on wich I enabled the 4 pipes but it can't even handle the XT speeds so I decided to buy another one.
Temperatures:
Club 3d original Fan at default clocks: ~35°C Idle / >80°C full load
Connect 3d ATI silencer at XT-PE clocks: ~33°C Idle / >70°C full load
I tested the full load temp. with ATI-Tool while artifact-scanning.

PowerColour x800 Pro VIVO flashed to XT PE BIOS. Running default XT PE (520/560) speeds. Looks like these cards are pretty good. Works right out of the box, no modding or any additional cooling required.

Hm weird thing my card wasn't stable at XT PE speeds so I lowered to 500/560 it ran games fine but yesterday I played CS for an hour then ran the artifact tester for ATITool and it was getting artifacts then the screen got all disfigured, I don't mean just artifacts or checkerboards I mean complete disfiguration.

That's what I'm using, a PAL 8045 that I cut down to fit, when I still ran a 9800 Pro. You probly just need even more voltage. I've played around quite a bit, and used up to 1.82v. The best setting I found was around 1.6v to 1.65v. The main thing is, watch your temps. But while the stock cooler gave me temps in the low 70's, I've never been over 55 with the Alpha.Quote:

I've noticed that it don't matter what "brand" your X800Pro VIVO is, they should all be able to unlock those 4 extra pipes...
Now it's just a case of your card being able to handle X800XT PE speeds...

Took the cooler off... No bridges cut...
I flashed FX800XT.bin, but I still have 12 pipes says ATITool.
Tried to flash the damned Gigabyte thingie and it just didn't work... It didn't want to flash... GVF11 -p E:\2\R80X256V.F1 did not do anything at all.
So I'm running at PE speeds, but reporting 12 pipes... What am I doing wrong?
Btw, does anyone have the link to bootdisk files for CDROM (I have no floppy) with MS DOS? I hate CALDERA DR :mad:
You need to use the modified flashrom search the thread its posted here somehwere. Thats what I had to use to flash my asus. I'm returning the ASUS and getting a Saphire X800 PRO TOXIC VIVO though :) I like the blue pcb and the silencer coming stock with it is a plus.Quote:
