Here a Foto of my GPU before. Perhaps anybody can see some Infos about the Codes on it? In the moment i only connect the 2 golden point without put some silver Paint in the Lasercut Hole. Perhaps blueremy have put some paint in the hole?

You don't need paint in the laser hole but if it gets in it's no problem.
According to his methods your core should be able to be modified.

Today i modded again and only 12 Pipes again. so the conclusion of this story is: Not all X800Pro can reactivate all 16 Pipes and the code on the GPU is not interessded.
The Mod i have done, was working right, because before i have between points 1-2 2-3 and 1-3 connection. After i have too connection between 3-4 and 1-4 and after modding, connection too between point 1 and 4 and the nearest smd resistor. and that was not before. so the modd is correct but only 12 pipes again.

So it is only a luck.
I located a BBA X800 Pro with the AA .1 on the core.
Ill post how it goes

On my GPU (pic higher) you can see that i have too an AA and .1 and it works not with 16 pipes. thats only luck. but its interessting that the reaction is not the same like the 9800se's with ckeckers and artifacts.Quote:

Yep...I'm thinking that this is not any better than the softmod. Did you try that one? Some guys at Rage3D claim to have done it successfully, but info is pretty sketchy.Quote:

Tried it on a Club3D today and it didn't work so put another non-sapphire card on the list of failures. This card has a AA .1 core so forget about the stepping, there's now way to tell before you actually do the mod.
my x800pro sapphire, has this code: GA8999.1
I've triyed the mod with conductive paint, but i can't have 16 pipelines. Why? isn't ok the code???? i've also flashed the x800pro with x800xt bios and now my graphic card is named "R420" with the xt frequencies...I've tryed farcry with stock cooling, but i have big artifact!:(

Its an Powercolor, but the Core and the green opg package arround is for all Cards the same from the same Chip Factory. Only the PCB is then build from other manufactures like powercolor, Sapphire etc.
@phantom: Do you use Cat. 4. 6b ? Then i have too R420 in the System Tray and the artefacts can be from to high clockrates. set the rates with ATI Tool down. Do you have then artefacts ?

wow!The problem was farcry and not the xt frequencies: i've tryed Unreal tournamente 2004 and it's great! I've also tryed atitool artifacts tester and i haven't had any artifacts for 400 seconds! Now i'm downloading farcry patch....

i want to buy a x800 pro and i prefer powercolor's for the bag included and for a friendship with the brand itself :) But i must be sure the % of success with a powercolor is the same of sapphire one ;)
i have the powercolor with hitman included (but not with bag) and i carnt activate the +4 pipes :( so its a gamble. in the moment sapphire looks like more success.

I have tried doing the mod with a pencil, bit didn't work, ill try with conductive silver paint afterwards or tomorrow..
I have a Sapphire X800PRO VIVO with 1,6ns mem as shown in my mem stepping..
Someone think the mod is going to work with the GB7284. 1 stepping?

I carnt activate my Powercolor X800Pro, but its interessting, if i make the mod, i can messure with multimeter in buzz mod on all 4 points connections. Can anybody confirm it with an working mod?

AS5 :) :). No , AS is guaranteed not power conductive !! You must take conductive paint! AS is an silver-oxyd, not real conductive silver.

Hey, has anyone had problems with the x800xt bios & Catalyst 4.6's??
It was running fine in my aircooled rig but as soon as I transfered it to my Vapo rig, reflashed x800xt bios, it started playing up real bad...
How bad?? Like OS freezes once it detects my fake VIVO capabilities...
As soon as I reflash back to x800pro bios, everything's smooth again...
WTF???
Anyone with some insight into this?? I read on Rage3D forums that there were some problems but didn't think I had that problem as they X800XT bios was working fine on my aircooled rig...

I'm thinking that it's because I installed the WDM drivers.
Here's what I did:
1: Driver
2: WDM
3: CP
4: System locks up when booting & all h3ll breaking loose...
Should I be just installing the drivers & CP & not the WDM??
Funny thing is that I had the WDM drivers installed manually when it was in my aircooled rig...

Device manager, there will be 2 things with "?" next to them because they are not actually on the card.
FUGGER posted the fix in the catalyst 4.6 thread (which is to disable the "?" items).

On my X800PRO, I have a Rage Theater chip on the underside of my card...
IS my X800PRO a XT with X800PRO BIOS?
You can answer the question yourself and lock if 16x1 is showing in ATI Tool or not. Then 16x1, its an XT ;) after flashing the XT Bios.

i think no. in the moment you can only activate the pipes with hardwaremod. if they works, then the XT Bios is useable.
Well. I'd say that all VIVO cards are fullbread XT cards that just has 4 of the pipes locked in some other way than those 4 dots.

had to go into "Safe Mode" & delete all references to atiwdm & basicalll reinstalled a fresh set of 4.6 drivers....
Gained an extra 1K odd 3DMark03 pts...
Now need to get some conductive paint to get down & dirty...
Haven't heard much success so far though so am weary about the mod....

You quoted 445 on the GPU... I'm thinking you meant 545 there as that's a bit low (maybe x800SE)...
I have to agree with Veritas.no there... That's not a very good OC... Mine can do 585/585 with the stock cooler & x800pro bios... With the X800XT PE bios, it can do at least 605/590 (with WC)... Haven't tried to max it out on air...
You gonna do a vmod I assume??

yes, no problem, the XT clocks are 525/573. So your 545/637 more then ok & safe. BUT DONT FORGOT TO SAFE YOUR ORIGINAL BIOS AT FIRST!
It seems most cards that work as full fledged XT's are 0416's (2004, week 16)...
I would hazard a guess that after week 16 ATI began blowing/cutting the internal bridge and thus that is why we havent seen any cores produced after that date work for the mod.

My Card is 0414 and is lasercut and is not possible to mod @16x1. Its only luck and a gamble.
I hate my card allready. Does around 515 on the core. Even if I could mod it to an XT it wouldn't have the MHz to run at XT. Guess I'll return the bastard.
Yo, I checked with the multimeter today, there is contact between 1, 2, 3 and 4th dot, but the big dot in the middle has no contact with any of the small dots..
Is this something important?
Important is point 3-4 , so you must have all 16 pipes, or the 4 pipes are damaged without lasercut. The big i have also no contact.
I would flash the XT Bios and then look if you have 16x1.

I just did the pencil mod..
I set it from 1,41v to 1,45v as it was described in the vr-zone guide..
It went well for 10 min ,and then, the whole screen totally :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:ed!
So I took away all the led, and turned the pc on..
The volt was back to normal (1,41v), but the screen is STILL TOTALLY :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:ED!!!

Shouldn't run more than 1.4 volts on an aircooled card.
It was running at 1,41 @ std....
So I only brung it up by 0,04v..
Then you should not have raised your voltage. Mine was 1.29 stock and it was a $hit overclocker, so I penciled it to 1.4, but not even 1/100 (.01) more.
Did you calibrate your volt meter on a 1.5v battery or something to make sure it reads correctly? If not, depending on the scale you were reading you may have put more volts into it than you think. Anyway, you have killed your card.
Clean it up really good and RMA it.
One thing, I checked the ohm's now.., it was reading 383ohm, is this std on the X800PRO @ the R1597 chip..Quote:

My Powercolor have 1.41Vgpu and 2.02Vmem. The Pencil Method is the stupid methode i know, no control. take the pencilgumm and erase all on the smd resistor.
You can't accurately check the value of a resistor while it is in a circuit. You have to pull it out. Also, with all the VLSI technology these days you could easily kill your card by checking resistance while the resistor is in the circuit. When you measure the resistance with a volt/ohm meter you are shoving current thru the circuit in an attempt to measure the amount of "resistance" to current flow. It's particularly amusing when people take a multimeter in "buzzer" mode to check continuity on their X800 Pro to XT mods. Holy $hit!Quote:

Unless you have money to burn I suggest you RMA your card and leave it alone if ATI is nice enough to fix it for you. Perhaps a transistor radio would be a more economically sound choice as a platform to learn basic electronic principles on?;)
Is it possible to use the x800XT Bios for this mod? I've seen that all mods are made with the x800XT PE Bios, but the PE Core is higher, as the XT. Specially the Memory frequency is with the PE Bios higher. 1140 Mhz without better cooling is not possible for a long time
I have seen some successfully mods without any flash. so i think you dont need to flash a bios. only make the hardmod and then see, if 12 or 16 pipes are showing. If you have 16 Pipes, you can flash it to XT and then the card is in systems tray showing as real XT (that is only possible if 16 pipes), but it is not necessary to do flash to have 16 pipes or not.
And an XT Bios, i havend found anywhere to download, only XT PE. You??
To the Memory Frequencys: My Card works up to 600Mhz, so your card can run without problems 573Mhz i think.
of course u dont need to flash to have 16pipes, flash is only needed to have xt clocks ;)
i could not get passed 1.46v on the core en 2.07v on the mem , i t just wont get higher stupid x800pro from powercolor

All XT's are Platinums. There is no such thing as a "regular XT".
I just got my X800 pro power color w/ vivo. Checked with ati tool and it said 12 piplines. Flash the bios and now it says 16pipline. The card also has 1.6ns mem.

got 11583 in 3dmark03 so far. stock card xt clocks. Ill push it a little now to see how far it will got. Im still running stock cooler too.
