HAYUP, the best I can tell you is that the EB RAM works very, very well in my DFI NFII B board. In my ABIT NF7-S 2.0 no RAM seems too great. Not even the BH5 I have (512 kit and 1gb kit). The ABIT boards are all different.

It possibly depends on the multiplier you are using. I found that multipliers below 9.5 were less likey to need the wire mod. How far did you manage to push your 2600-m anyway?;) A new mobile chip has arrived for me today, so I'll be giving it a good torturing tonight.Quote:

Gaz, I got to about 2650mhz at 1.75 volts. Air cooled with the slk900 and a 56cfm fan. I didn't push it tho ;)

my 2600 seems very picky with high speeds. it feels like it wants a rock solid vcore or it wont stay stable.:rolleyes:
most ive gotten to bench at is 2630, on a superpi type thing.:(

wait.. maybe my problem was fsb in tht case.. i htink i was at a lower fsb though. ill check. but still, what did you do to make that stable, and how bad was yoru vcore flux?
Just at a about a 240fsb x 11. The CPU was fine at that speed. It is a mobile 2600+, no wire trick (tried both ways, no diff). It's one I just got from Newegg. IQZFA 0347, so November 2003 manuf date. My board if fine with vcore. A DFI Infinity I got at the same time. Haven't tried it in my review sample NFII B yet.
Is it that review NFII that you're using to get the 2x512 3500EB to run so well? Cause they're runnin pretty poo in mine-- 220 2.5-3-2-11 3.0v 15 hours "stable" is my best so far. But I have sent a few messages to ryan about it, so maybe I'll have some advice soon. I'll be looking for Evil_Spork's results if you guys dunno what's wrong. EDIT: BTW, these sticks are just fine at default speeds and voltage. Memtest went for 200something passes in #5. I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with them besides the lack of any clocking ability so far.

I am the DFI NF2 expert by default over here and I will do my best to help you. You should be running WAY better than that. Make sure you give me all of your ram timings and all voltages for the board. Include your forum name so I know who you be.

where are you guys measuing the vcore at?
My fluctuates like mad according to mbm/hw doctor..
Measuring at choke shows ~.05v higher than bios (havent checked for stability) and none of the 6 mosfets nearest the CPU show any voltage even remotely close to the cpu vcore......

How are you measuring it? Also, if it's 3-phase power, only 3 of them are actually MOSFETS I think.
Is this on the 8RDA?

I don't know much about Infinity. But I sure know that it has a very poor CPU power supply on some batches. My friend bought a couple which could do 250 FSB but couldn't do about 2.3 Ghz on the CPU..

Andy is right. I've been dealing with Bigtoe and his helpfulness has totally exceeded my expectations. I'm hoping to have some new EB in the not too distant future. But I'm not in any hurry as my system will be getting stripped down shortly, pending a complete cooling upgrade :banana: .Quote:

The DFI boards appear to vary wildly in their ability to OC with any RAM, the EB included.
All testing done on both boards with the 5/5 DFI Oskar Wu beta bios.
Board #1: Early Lan Party NFII B that will run my 3700 EB with 3-2-2-2-10 12-14 timings at 245fsb x 3.1v DDR x 1.7v chipset x AGP Auto, Prime95 blend stable for 11 hours (I stopped it). Running CAS 2.5 or CAS 3.0 at the same FSB yields the same memory bandwidth. CAS 3.0 gives me a 5mhz higher overclock. This board kicks booty.
Board #2: 2 week old Ultra Infinity that WILL NOT run the 3700 EB at 230mhz with the above timings and setup. I am still testing, trying to find out what the hey is up with the Infinity. This board sucks booty.
Both boards are Tawain models, and the memory is the one and only set of 3700 EB I have in my personal lab. Can't be the RAM man. Gotta be the board or chipset revision/quality.
I have not given up, if there is a solution I will find it. I supspect a voltage issue, or as I said above just a crud chipset.

Mine locked up on me just 5 mins ago at 210fsb fnar..
my vdimm is really stable. 3.3 = 3.29-3.31
My voltages swing like h3ll, hehe. But IMHO it's the darn winbond monitoring chip or the traces inbetween...
Don't worry. My Vcore varies 0.05V even with vdrop mod in bios/win but I can go 3.1GHz superpi, pifast and nearly ( ;) 5.5 hours) prime stable :D
I did not test for stability after fiddling with my mods again though...
my new infinity was crap with the shipping and 1/21 bios's. With 1/31 I could clock it up OK. Nothing great, 220-230fsb with some Mushkin Level One ch-5 2x512's and CPC needed to be disabled :(. But prior to that bios 210 wasn't even stable :(. Then I used the modded 1/31 bios that fixes cold boot issues with mobile cpus.

Oh, sorry, back on subject:
I have not checked the new board for voltage issues. I can sat that with the shipping bios I remember running 237fsb without a problem. I'll have to check my records.
I am running 2 x 512mb PC3700 EB. I forgot to memtion that. Also using an Antec 550 watt PSU.
I will test some more and get back. Busy day.
