So the Gene will not boot 8 series cards. That's pretty messed up considering on only bought this board for benchmarking.
The 570 boots no problem.
Where can I get mem TweakIT 1.01.5?

I just tested an EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB and it boots in to the bios just fine but I don't want to really install Windows to test fully, as for the latest memtweakit I believe it is in here somewhere.
Once again thanks for the X58 OC
I did not know that was you I sold it too, lol. Yeah board is way more fun then any other 1366.
Strange, I couldn't see the BIOS or anything, it was like it the LCD would not see the card. I will have to try it again now that I have the latest BIOS and all.

So the Tridents can run below normal operating voltage...
Just finished putting together a 3570K and a P8Z77-v Pro board. It wont boot if I have my 6950/6970 plugged in, just gives me a VGA_LED. If i take it out and boot with onboard it works fine. This is from an X58 build where the 6950/70 has worked flawless. wtf....
Tried it with a 5450 and it worked fine, 6970, no go. Is there a compatibility issue?
Apparently the Asus board doesnt like the 6950 flashed to 6970. Flipped the switch to go back to the old bios and it booted right up. /sigh
Did anyone try installing LSI MegaRaid 9265-8i raid controller on ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe? The system cannot see LSI raid card at all. Raid controller bios is not initialized during booting, SAS disks are not listed and the system boots as if there is no raid card at all. Also, the card is not listed in Device Manager in Windows.
I tried ASUS bioses 0906 and 1050. 9265-8i has the latest firmware flashed. Tried intalling in both slots PCIEX16_2 and PCIEX16_3, that didn't help.
Will be awaiting for bios fix.
New P8Z77-V owner.
Installed motherboard yesterday and it hasn't been plain sailing. I am coming from a p67 board and using a 2500k. Nothing has changed but the motherboard. I am used to 4.6 with my mem at 1600mhz (Gskill @1.5v CL9)and a vcore offset of 0.035 (weak LLC).
Firstly the out of box bios was poor. I downloaded updates for everything else except the bios and did a freshing OS install and manually updated drivers. Also the system seemed much 'slicker' running without my GFX and soundcard installed. In fact seemed better without Lucix too. I still have that installed.
After a few hours I swapped out the bios. This at first seemed okay - could test 1hr stable at previously known settings and overclock. But on reboot started to noticed odd vcore loading - the CPU sits at 4.6 for no reason under no load at full vcore - this is on win7 balanced power settings and high performance so not a OS issue. Also the AI suite had become sluggish and unresponsive (lastest version) the idea of accessing this during a stability test is a no goer (I've since removed it for now). I wasn't happy overall and have since cleared the CMOS.
I hope this doesn't continues without improvement. I am back down to no overclock and stand mem settings 1333mhz while observing the system.
Is there another bios to try? Haven't seen anything listed for the standard V.
The only other thing that occurs to me is that the new motherboard is very picky about mem sticks. As I any running gskill CL9 of 2*4gb and 2*2gb kits with slightly different codes. I am running Memtest now on all available memory. Something my previous system had no problems with.
Overall I think the motherboard is very focused on Ivy and has poor support for Sandy.
Newer builds should be up soon. Other than that, Z77 is more IB centric, these boards were designed to get the most out of the newer CPUs.
For the love of god I am about to toss this Maximus V Gene out the window. What is the major malfunction with Asus and detecting a freaking USB keyboard on startup? Tried two different keyboards and only 1 USB port out of them all registers it. The huge issue is tjat when I press CTR I to get into the RAID config nothing happens. No matter how fast I press the keys it just blows right past the screen which only flashes for a second.
Using BIOS 0701, is this stuff ever tested? So here I sit unable to set up RAID and install Windows. The keyboard works in the BIOS but my mouse doesn't no matter which usb port. On my RIVE they both work fine and I could use them in the BIOS. So what voodoo majic do I need to perform in order to get into the RAID config?
Raja, please pass to HQ problem with LSI 9265 raid card which I discribed two posts above. I think that the problem resides on ASUS side, not LSI side.
I really really don't want to abandon neither ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe board nor LSI raid card (which costs twice the cost of P8Z77-V Dlx) with a bunch of 15K SAS drives. Pls. help this problem fixed thru bios update. Thank you.
First port of call would be to tell me which USB keyboard and mouse you are using (part numbers and revision number if any). Is the system at bone stock settings or OC'd? Does the mouse and keyboard show up again in UEFI if you AC power cycle the system (turn PSU off and let residual power drain)?
-Raja
If you can tell me which BIOS version that card is using I will see if the HQ desktop teams have the card and can validate it. Will also need to know which option ROMs are enabled in UEFI (Intel RAID etc) when you are using the card.
There is a reason sever boards cost so much my friend - validation, which is what devices like these need. That's why they slip under the radar on desktop boards where their usage audience is incredibly limited.
-Raja
Sorry about the rage but when you spend 3 hours trying to get into a simple raid config menu It tends to get to you. The keyboard gets power on startup, num lock turns on well before the raid menu flashes, it works in the bios, it registers as a keyboard on post, yet Ctr I does nothing no matter what I do. Never had any issues with this keyboard before in anu BIOS. It's just a generic.
The other keyboard is a mac usb that worked fine on my RIVE. The mouse is a lohitech M570 that doesn't register no matter is it is in the 2.0, 3.0, asmedia ports.
I just don't get how with a working keyboard Ctr I does nothing on the raid screen.
I've tried every single Usb port. My mouse works as soon as I enter windows setup. I think there is something flawed with this 0701 BIOS, going to have to install win 7 non raid just to download another bios version.
There is something wrong with this raid in this bios, config screen only flashes for about a half second. It would stay up for about 2 seconds on the RIVE. The funny part is I plugged in my old raid array from the RIVE and it works fine, I just cannot get in to configure the new drives.
Raja, thanks for reply.
I understand that P8Z77 was never qualified for compatibility with serious raid controllers (like LSI, Adaptec and Areca). But using hardware raid card with 1Gb onboard cache and fast processor is so temptating (both with SAS HDD and SSD).
LSI 9265-8i has the latest firmware available (version 23.4.1-0028 dated March 30, 2012)
I tried disabling all add-on controllers in ASUS UEFI bios: ASMedia USB, ASMedia SATA, Marvell, Intel, Realtek LAN and Audio. That didn't help. Also I played with bios menu item which allows selection priority between UEFI and Legacy option ROM. That also didn't help.
The systems passes post stage very quickly, not showing any sign that raid card is present (as you probably know, any raid card slows down post time significantly due to long initialization). In Windows, Device manager also doesn't show LSI card. Although AIDA64 and GPU-Z tell that Radeon 7970 is left with only 8 lanes of PCI-E. That is "invisible" LSI card occupied 8 lanes of native PCI-E (if installed in PCEx16_2 slot).
The card itself is 100% working and checked on another system (ASUS R2E).
Am going to change over from a CH V formlua to the Gene. Do I need to reinstall Windows...basically moving from AMD to Intel.
Well, giving in to temptation usually means there will be some hiccups - just so you are aware that no matter what vendor you go with you will find these things. Even on server boards, if its not on the QVL then it has not been qualified.
I have passed the details on to HQ, so it depends what they can do, no promises but they will look at it.
-Raja
Thanks, Raja!
Just tried it. Still a no-go, CTR I does nothing. Is there anyone with a M5G of any bios number that could simply go into their BIOS and enable RAID and see if they can CTR I into the raid config? It won't mess up and of your data and you can just switch it back.
BTW the official 0602 BIOS wouldn't even load using the BIOS updater under "tool". It says it's not even a BIOS and it had the right nomenclature and .cap and everything. Something odd is going on here, not sure if it's quality control related.
Ya, every other BIOS I've loaded works fine in regard to reading the BIOS to flash it. Just used 0881 and it still won't let me into RAID config menu.
Here is a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2jWX...ature=youtu.be
As you can see keyboard is working as expected, let's me pause at the raid screen so you know the computer is taking keyboard commands. Yet CTR I does nothing. This problem is just silly but extremely annoying as it's a show-stopper for my new build. If anyone else could test this...
I must be missing the ROG RAID edition keyboard with the special raid config menu key.. :(
Things are improving. Maybe it was a combination of the long flight home I had before installing the board and being unfamiliar with the UEFI/ Asus UI. I am back and running at 4.6Mhz. Have left the mem at default for now.
I know it would be 'clunky' but I wish the board had a Sandy/Ivy switch somewhere! Wishful thinking I know.
Anyone got any tips of manually setting up the options in Digi Tune?
Also if I reduce the core voltage in the Windows utility - what does it change in the UEFI - the voltage associated with that freq? offset or even some tweaking of LLC?
Tried every M5G BIOS in this thread, still cannot get into RAID config. After 5 hours or working on this, time for bed, ASUS has me beat! The only thing I can logically conclude is that the ASUS BIOS people set the RAID config to flash so quickly in order to speed up boot time (it's literally up for less than a second), that it won't register keystrokes no matter how fast you do them.
It will be really sad if I have to put together my disssasembled X79 setup just to create a new RAID volume on my Vertex 4's to use with the M5G.
please try disabling this, 'external sata'
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/zry3t.jpg
I finally got into the RAID config. I will post this resolution just in case anyone else has this issue. So the first two keyboards no matter which USB ports, 2.0, 3.0, ASMedia 3.0 wouldn't work to get into RAID config. I remember I had a third unopened mini-MAC keyboard so I gave that a try. As I was testing all of the USB port's it appeared they weren't working until I got to the last one. Only the very top ASMedia 3.0 port finally let me into the RAID config menu. Not sure how or why this is, or why it takes three different keyboards and only one of the USB port's to work for this. Talk about a finicky motherboard.
Oh and my Logitech M570 trackball still doesn't work in the BIOS no matter which USB port I am connected to. First MB (M5G) I've ever had it doesn't work in.
It seems a now common problem with the new Asus Z77 boards and 6950 video cards that have been flashed to 6970.
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...Maximus-Gene-V
Is there any chance we can see bios fixes for the entire line of Z77 boards that addresses this?
fixed with this bios
nvm here is a newer one
Im not on the Maximus though, im on the P8Z77-V Pro.
Reported to HQ. In the meantime use the 6950 BIOS.

Hi,
Don't know if you could give me any suggestions however I have P77 Sabertooth and 3770k.
Was working fine with orignal bios then I updated to the newer released bios and CPU turbo overclocking options are limited to 35x, 4x 4gb shows in SPD checker but bios only sees 1/2 ram and megaraid 9260i card which was in the bottom pci x 16 slot and running at x4 now does not show. Also the onboard graphics are no longer working. I flashed back to the earler bios but the problem was not resolved. Also tried reseting the bios with the jumper but to no avail.
Any suggestions? Thanks very much advance
Edit also tried the 1050 bios with no luck
Sounds like same problem as the user here had. Here's what he did to fix it:

Seems to be the same problem I have with my LSI 9265 and P8Z77-V Deluxe, doesn't it?
Please confirm that your 9260 did worked with original bios. If so, I'll try to find original bios 0603 for my P8Z77-V Dlx (though ASUS web-sites lists bios starting from 0801, and I don't know if 0603 exists as *.CAP file).
Raja, pls., by the way, do you have any idea why ASUS web site says that 0801 is the first release bios for P8Z77-V Dlx, while my board came with even older 0603? Just want to be sure that my board is not pre-release or pre-production sample.
Pls. don't take it as if I want to bother you by asking to follow the issue with LSI raid cards, but if you hear something about resolution of the issue from your HQ, even roumor-like, please don't hesitate to post it here. I'll keep watching this thread, cause without storage subsytem functioning, computer build is not a computer, sorry to say.
Thank you.
Thanks for the replies. On the other thread the guy could set the turbo speeds still in the bios I think whereas mine won't go above 35 no matter what other settings I choose.
I can't understand why also the onboard graphics settings have all vanished from the bios and if i try and boot without a discreet graphics card I get a red light above PCIx slot and it refuses to believe it has onboard graphics even with a bios reset and flash (just tried 1050)
I put the old bios back on and the megaraid did come back but none of the other issues were resolved
Is there some way to completely reset the board?
That was initial shipping BIOS, it was replaced by the *9 series which had ucode updates so we want people going forwards, not backwards. Nobody is selling you pre-production boards.
As for the LSI card issue HQ has replicated. Fix could be some time off as they will validate first, so take a chill pill.
Any further questions on this you can take up with local support in Russia.
Thx
Raja

What is the version of the original bios on Sabertooth z77?
I was hoping that it was fixable but maybe RMA is the best option :(
Also not sure on the original bios number, 8 something I think
Though the megaraid vanished the system did work for a short time with the newer bios 906 but crashed when overclocking and I think that's when I lost the IGP and settings? hmm.....!
I remember when doing bios flashes on other boards options to clear dmi? or something similar some sort of additional reset option
is this possible on the sabertooth or would it be irrelevance?
Thanks!
Hmm if trying to flash in DOS it won't let me saying there is an unsupported bios policy
Looks like I will have to RMA
Raja:
When will the bios for Asus Z77 v-Deluxe supporting IB? I have bios 1050 and it shows that I have an SB-C1 (I have IB E1)
Is there any reason I shouldnt have LN2 mode enabled under H20? I enabled it a week ago when benching and left it.
Hm, running into a strange issue with my 3770K. Right now stable at 1.35v for 4.85 GHz but if I try and bump it up to 4.9 GHz or more, Win 7 will boot up but fails to display the login screen no matter how much more voltage I give the CPU. Temps are pretty decent at these settings, low 60's in Prime95. Seems like the Windows 7 login screen is creating a wall for my CPU at the moment for some reason. Using a M5G, any thoughts?
Enable CPU PLL OV and try again. If that along with Vcore does not help, could just be the CPU.
Updated Fan Xpert module for AI Suite, fixes auto load profile on Windows start (it should be up soon):
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/asus/misc/...rt2_V10015.zip
Man, when my 3770K reaches 4.89 GHz it falls off a freaking cliff. At 4.88 GHz it is stable as a rock at 1.35v yet going up to 4.89 GHz, no matter where I put the vcore, pll, llc, or any voltage will get it to boot up into Windows. Very strange, I've never seen a CPU behave like this over decades of overclocking. It's like there is a clear-cut no-go line with this CPU. :headscrat
Granted, 4.88 GHz running nice and cool at 1.35v isn't that bad, but I don't understand this limit.

Will ASUS be releasing a Z77 ROG eATX board (non small board)? Something like the commented MAXIMUS V FORMULA I saw once in a site?
Cant wait to see that 6970 bios fix....
sry for going offtopic here but the startup bug with flashed hd 6950 to 6970 does also concern p67 boards like p8p67 since uefi 3207 and obviously all p8 boards since latest uefi releases. me and others reported this issue at official asus support forums but staff there did not comment.
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
I have also made an offical trouble ticket but german ASUS support tries to make me a fool.
Raja, would please be so kind to report this also to ASUS HQ?
thanks a lot in advance
Considering Shamino fixed the bug in an hour or two of it being reported on the M5Gene id really like to see this fixed sooner than later.
HQ are already aware of this, they will implement a fix in one of the upcoming BIOSes - don't have a timeline on when that will be ready.
Thanks for the update.
I've had a little niggle with USB detection on the Z77 V LX. Keyboard/mouse plugged into the hub on my Dell U2412M aren't detected at BIOS level, but are detected once I'm in Windows. this only occurs when the hub was connected to one of the USB2.0 back ports, when I switched to a different port the problem's gone. It is of course, not particularly important to me, and easy to work around.
Additionally I had the PC shutdown when I enabled EPU in BIOS, immediately, and refused to POST. Memcheck did get it to post once, but after that no go. CMOS reset restored things. I've not gone near that setting again! :)
Using 0607 for both of these things.
Edit : Also your new fanxpert software is really quite good, a massive step forward. However the power fan header doesn't get the same love that chassis 1 and 2 get. Could that be added?
1) Not sure on if that can be patched quickly. Depends which port the issue is on. Some of these Dell monitor hubs leak DC so they are essentially non-compliant. Whether or not that is causing issue here I am not sure.
2) Sounds like memory incompatibility. Not sure what you are using as your post is limited in details. Contact ASUS UK suppport for further assistance on that.
3) Fan header support will be limited by hardware, so this will not be a software update.
-Raja
Hi Raja,
Thank you for your previous advice. As you suggested I have RMAed the Sabertooth and now have a new sabertooth board and all is working correctly. Onboard graphics is back and all the ram slots work. However I want the best overclock possible so would like to update the bios but am concerned about the megaraid card.
Currently I have occupied
Slot 1 PCIx 3 16x 7970 HD
Last slot PCIx 2 (@x4) Megaraid 9260-8i
If i update the bios to the 1050 bios you posted earler will I lose the megaraid?
Thank you again
I have no idea on the megaraid card, I have never used one on these boards and don't have one here I can test. If you are concerned on using stable BIOSes then stay on the official qualified builds on the ASUS site.
hi,Raja
I have a P8Z77-V Pro
I'm wondering if my mb will have the same ram oc ability as the M5G with the coming new bios?
I mean M5G has a lot of beta bios and some of them increase the ram oc ability or stability,i'm not asking for the 'memory presents' function, just those changes to the bios that increase the ram oc ability or stability.
Yeah sorry I was in a hurry. DICE, very short run. My Koolance does not have 1155 mounting so I went for a no hold down mount and it was bad, had to heat up and remove the pot, just used two bolts to hold it down the second time.
I don't think the Koolance is up to the task of Ivy, looking for a new POT now.
1) It's a pretty minor thing and it won't affect me again, I just thought I'd let you know.
2) I'm not sure it is a memory thing, I tried 1 stick, and different DDR3 just to see if it had an effect. BIOS actually quit and the PC switched off as soon as I went to the EPU section, without saving BIOS etc. Again though I'm just reporting it to you, I don't require a fix.
3) That's a shame. However if I find differently - in order words if I get Speedfan to change the fan speed, does that mean you'll update the software?
Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe bios 1015:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...-ASUS-1015.zip
Thank you for your reply Raja,
The reason for my concern was with the other Sabertooth board I updated from prerelase bios(?)(number lower than website first version) to the version from the website and megaraid no longer worked in pcix 16 (4x) slot
Edit
Have tested different bios versions
70x and 80x megaraid card works in all slots
90x onwards megaraid card only works in slot pcix 16x v3 slot 1
Any patch notes regarding the 6950 fix?
Hello there folks
I have bought this new board (P8Z77-v Pro) and am happy but for two minor/major things.
1. When I put PC to sleep it will wake up at random intervals but not long after I put it to sleep. Than it will go to sleep again and awake again and so on and so forth (scared my mom to death the other day)
2. When it awakes from sleep all the fans go crazy and than little by little they settle down to normal.
Any ideas folks?
Hi,
1) Can you compile a list of parts used (include DRAM part numbers), UEFI version used and all drivers please?
2) The fans probably ramp up to full while the OS reloads any profiles or the system senses operating temps after resume. I would not worry about this.
-Raja
This is my RAM
G.SKILL Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB PhysX
M4 Corsair SSD 128 GB
Seagate Barracuda 3TB
Corsair 750W PSU
All drivers and BIOS are the latest from the Asus site:
http://support.asus.com/Download.asp...V+PRO&p=1&s=39
except nvidia latest betas. Not running onboard wifi and am connected by cable.
That would be all.
P.S. Do you guys experience full load fans after awakening or at startup as well? (when I first boot PC)
Hi from Germany,
Just to let you know: The Problem with LSI Megaraid Cards is also on the P8Z77-WS... The Board to be said which "provides complete compatibility with RAID and LAN cards.". HQ is informed - got my one back to the Dealer still using my old P5E...
Bye
Peter
Yeah system is overclocked but completely stable AFAIK
M4 has the latest Firmware which would be 000F
What are IRST drivers (please excuse me for my ignorance)
Hello again Raja. Hope you remember my post about Crucial memory stability at 2133 a while ago.
It turns out that it's stable with 3570K but not with 2600K at the same timings and voltage.
Probably because Ivy has stronger IMC?
Return the system to stock to debug this issue otherwise we could be going back and forth forever. Even when it seems stable it may not be enough for resume or sleep.
IRST is Intel Rapid Storage drivers, are you using these instead of the native Microsoft AHCI driver?
Raja@ASUS, my Q-Code reads "A0" but everything is functioning just fine. Any ides?
