I'll check out the ROG thread!
I might give it a try.
Anvil, you have tested?
I might give it a try later tonight.
Shouldn't be a problem as there is a "dual bios system" on the Rampage IV.
The modded bios would not load, not an EFI bios so that was a no-go.
I've got the 1201 mod but I'm reluctant to go back, I'll see if we can get lsdmeasap to do a new mod. (he did the 1201 mod)
With rom 3.1.0.2101?
Yet it works with other
With ASMedia, causes problems I believe
The first one without the ASMedia update did not work, I did not try the one that included the ASMedia update.
I tried the modded bios with the new rom (without ASmedia), but impossbile to install
error message, the file is not compatible
Rom work great for me.. ;)
link to station drivers downloads drivers, not rom, and intel looks to have pulled the rom, at least form the link to intel and the search info mentioned to enter...any newer links to it or a newer one?
there is no rom or bin in any of those files, as i already mentioned. do you have a bin of the 3.1.0.2101?
ah, two bin in driver files marked 'legacy'...would you have used the 'scuOrom.bin'? i'm hoping i'm on the right track here, as i did the uefi bios mod method in replacing the orom. this is for my x79 rampage gene.
used the sataOrom.bin. worked perfect!
Silly question :D
Must do the same for USB drives (as SSD, HDD)
Thanks :)
? i loaded the modded rom to the root of C (raid array), and flashed from the uefi bios using the built-in 'easy flash'
That ORom was extracted from an msi board so it's probably legit. Dunno why intel would pull it. I inserted it into my gigabyte x79-ud3 and I'm using 3.1.0.1068 driver with RSTe gui and haven't had a single problem. I wish intel and mobo manufacturers would do more for x79. Every since z77 showed up seems like its ignored.
my error. i was looking for a blatant 'orom.bin', but had to rummage around in the 'legacy' folders. i am using the 11.0 driver atm, as it's a little 'faster' all way round.
Hello guys,
I ve found this topic and im very gratefull that happened because i have too experienced low write performance on my Samsung 830 256GB SSD. When i tick the option "buffer flushing" i get quite similar results as Anvil did. I wanted to ask You Anvil , did You happen to test that drive on new Intel OROM ? And did you find a solution why the drive performs under 500 mb/s which is how it performs on ivy bridge systems ?
X Anvil
For the Intel Rapid Storage Enterprise 3.2.0.1126 and OROM 3.0.0.1184
They work without caching enabled.
The RSTE have active cache and no data corruption will occur in case of absence of current.
Disable the cache settings for 100% performance in windows and turn off CPU power saving and C1 State.

Windows 7 enable by default chace write for disk

After Install RSTE disable cache write on disk

In BIOS of your mainboard, disable C1-C3 states and turbo mode for the max. speed on SSD drive
C-state and turbo mode-on reduced drive speed in reason of 2-5%.

Ok, thank you very much, I will test
I must uncheck the 2 boxes, then
Until now, if the 2nd box was not checked, we had a bad write performance
I tested and it does not work, with RSTe 3.2.0.1135 and ROM 3.1.0.2101

Interesting post, my test are with sandforce serie 5 drive and RSE 3.2.0.1126 and OROM 3.0.0.1184
New c600 oRom at Station Drivers 3.2.0.1135.
No, that is not a OROM version. It is the RSTe package v3.2.0.1135, which has already been inofficially released at 07/04/2012, but now has been published by Intel officially (>LINK<). The latest Intel RSTe RAID ROM version for X79 chipsets is v3.2.0.1022.
Bios 2105 and RSTe ROM v3.2.0.1022 for Rampage IV Extreme
See here
Anyone ever figure out why Z77 PCH RAID works a lot faster than C600 RAID? Is it just better drivers on Z77?
Fernando, I thought I read further down in that thread where someone had extracted the 3.2.0.1135 oRom from an intel board? Have you tested it yet?
Do you use the RST oRom as well? Any problems? I can NOT loose my data but I'm tired of the poor performance and not being able to put my computer to sleep. This is supposed to be an enterprise class controller? Hmm.
No, you may reread it >here<. The topic of the thread was related to the RSTe driverpack v3.2.0.1135, but my message concerned the ROM version 3.2.0.1022.
I don't have an X79 chipset mainboard.Quote:
Have you tested it yet?
Oh, I wasn't aware you could use the Z77 drivers/ROM on X79. Always thought it strange that my Z77 boards RAID always ran better than my X79 boards RAID.
new RST 11.6.0.1030
Compatible for X79 in AHCI (but not RAID, for the moment)
it's OK with RST 11.6 and no need to disable "" Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing ... "
The modded drivers are available for RAID
New raid rom for RSTe floating about. Stasio posted this over at TT. Here is a direct link.

RSTe ROM 3.5.0.1005 is included in the 3010 bios for Rampage 4 Extreme ;)
I updated my R4E last night (new orom + RSTe 3.5n)
Preliminary testing shows nothing new, performance looks to be about the same.
(I tested with power saving options enabled)
I keep RST 11.6, no need to disable this option :D
I have tried very IRSTe and RST driver with my X79 Sabertooth in Achi mode, everything that was discussed in ths thread including buffer flushing enabled. It was horrid, only the MSACHI work at all and they still are very slow in the 4K write catagory. My new 840 Pro 512 in my 3960X system and I am not happy. I do have a question if I do not install the IRSTe driver and use the drive in MSACHI Mode is TRIM enabled? Anyone know of a driver that might work yet?
I use RST 11.7 and no problem
It degrading the 4K write after running the Magician performance mode. I had to delete all of the IRST drivers I tried, only Msachi will work now. Please remember this is not a RAID configuration, it is a single drive.
Sometimes IRST drivers will leave registry settings behind when uninstalled. Might try cleaning them out.
You certainly were right about that. I have a reg program called JVPower Tools and it searches for reg entries, I am afraid I do not know what to delete, there are dozens of IRST V 11 and V3e Drivers that I installed to try and deleted, but the entries in the reg are still there, now if knew what I was doing a little better I might have more confidence about deleting reg entries.
Try this thread. Fernando knows a lot about it.
