The way you have that pic put together with all those windows makes it look like firefox is hosting all the billions of stuff you have open below it :p:

Heck, how do you even use those windows, they are all too short to even see anything :confused:

True :D
I dont use it like that, all are full screen, just did that for the picture, to show that only one tab was open in firefox, while chrome had a ton open.

I agree, this is a fairly pointless discussion. You and others have come into a FF release thread merely to complain about how horrible it is and how much better chrome/opera is. If you guys have no intention of giving FF a real chance than what is the point of posting in here?

And yes, I literally laughed out loud when you mentioned popups, malware, and data loss. If you are still having problems with these things in your browsing experience than maybe you should think twice before criticizing.

There is no need for them. Not since mozilla changed their firefox version numbering.

We used threads for v3, v4 that's fine. But you wouldnt make a thread for v4.3.... therefore you shouldn't make one for v7.

I couldn't really say. I haven't used 8 in a while. Generally I'd check the addons first. Disable them and if the problem goes away then re-enable them one at a time to see which is the offending one. If that doesn't help you could try a fresh configuration profile. Just rename your profile directory and let FF make a new one, if it fixes things you can bring your bookmarks, etc over. If not just delete the new profile directory and rename the old one back. Last option is that there may be a genuine bug caused by one of the sites you are visiting, use feedback to notify the devs. Or it could be a bad install though I don't see that often.

Remember that if you just had a bunch of tabs open >=FF7 won't release the memory right away. It keeps stuff cached longer than browsers like Chrome and IE. But if you give it time the usage will settle back to much lower, or if there is memory pressure it should happen sooner.

EDIT: Not worth it, aint going to waste time on you... Just consider this, you bump into a thread about FF7.0 release, talking about FF9.01, you are the one OFF TOPIC from the very beginning, apart from that, you are straight up dumb, as you cannot imagine scenarios of which a internet browser can be used.

i think i've experienced the same or something related today.

all my pinned app tabs vanished.

what i did was:
1. no ff was opened
2. clicked a link in trillian (a new ff window without any app tab opens)
3. opened another instance of ff from the taskbar, with all the app tabs etc
4. closed the instance with the app tabs
5. closed the ff instance i opened from within trillian (which had no app tabs)
6. open ff from taskbar
7. all app tabs vanished
8. ???
9. fail

i'm on a single monitor configuration though.

We had one for 3.5 and 3.6 i presume, right? These are essentially the same, but with the major revision bumped with each release instead of the minor revision. Each of these has actual changes and not just bug fixes (Those are still reserved for micro revisions, like with 7.0.1).

I already mentioned i didn't like this new numbering scheme since it's as cheap as Chrome's and really screws up with stable extensions support, but that doesn't change the fact each release is different from the rest.

FF7 is even worse than 4,5 and 6. Crashing quite often now. Going back to 3.6 for a while until I completly switch over to Chrome.
Good bye FF, been using it since v1.0 :(

RE: FF crashing.

People who have FF crash must have a corrupt FF profile, addons, plugins etc. In Terms of fixing your profile There are two ways to resolve this. ( Den Leiw's post above is a good example of a corrupted profile. In the case of Razz! sounds like his session did not save correctly. A bad overclock can corrupt your FF in a lot of cases.

1) use mozbackup and backup your profile and then delete your mozilla profile and run FF and have it create a new profile and use mozbackup to import information from your old profile( cookies and bookmarks). If you import your old settings they might create a conflict so set those by hand.

2) create a new mozilla profile from scratch.

3) There is a third way, go onto forums like mozillazine or FF user groups and report your problem. Most FF crashing problems are local to the end users machine.

I do this with every release since FF3. I just backup Cookies, Bookmarks and Browsing History (Making sure to disable the backup of unknown files) and them import them into a clean new profile after deleting the old one.

You need to reinstall every extension of course, but that's the point since most of the time a profile gets corrupt after using too many extensions or meddling with its configuration too much.

I really don't have any crashing issues with Firefox. I think I've had it crash only a couple times since I started using it way back since version 0.5 or something like that.

Firefox advises users to disable McAfee plugin

http://www.itworld.com/software/2100...-mcafee-plugin since it is responsible for a great many crashes.

I dont think ive had any FF crashes since pre-3.5 or something... Ive might had some after that but that has been because of unstable ram, not FF.

@ safan80 : I doubt that my profile is corrupt. I recently formatted my harddrive and installed FF 7 with only 3 or 4 addons. However it crashes more often than previous FF versions.
I'm back now on 3.6 and have absolutely no problem whatsoever...

Every program can and has crashed. That said, of course some crash more than others, but it isn't like Firefox crashes constantly. No more than Chrome in my experience. Again, I highly suspect that the vast majority of issues anyone has with any web browser are due to plugins and not the browser itself. Well, except maybe IE, seems IE v8 and older crashing is to be expected :p: Jury is still out on IE9.
