On my UD5 going over 1.28vtt makes ET vcore go up, I think it may be a bug or by design as I can boot more vtt with more vcore.
Printable View
1.28vtt max here. No boot at 1.3vtt
OCM, try bumping vtt up a bit.. Sounds bit off tbh..
oh dam i didnt see you tryed 1.3, little puzzed .. Maby bit more vtt and Dimm voltage? Only thing i can possibly think off.. That or 32m is having problems with max frequency of 2133 on the giga boards.. ?
Me neither 1.2 max boot, this other chip i'm working on is severly voltage challenged even more so vcore and vtt wise.
In fact i think i figured out some UD4 users issues. It probably there chip.
I could run 1.6+ Vtt on my personal chip with eztune once in windows.
Not that it helped much instead of a crash i got a freeze near the end.
For me it was a matter of fine tuning subs per set of ram, one set of GT's liked totally diff subs than another.
Tuning them in at 1866 6-6-6 first then taking what I knew passed there was the ticket to getting them smoking at 2133.
Have you compared 3Dmark performance Brian between the Gigas and other boards... quite some interesting things there... wonder if it's due the non EFI bios...
my OCZ mnh are running pretty well on L042B074 and UD5/f6d
1067mhz 8-8-8 tested an hour Prime 2.64 3.5gb @ 1.05v/1.58v
7-7-6 also ok 32M 1067mhz 1.76v which is ~0.03v higher than same clock on my 920/e760
here's a vista 32m 8-8-8 1097mhz
vtt 1.05v set (1.08v cpuz 156)
vdimm 1.60v set
i set trfc 60, all other subs auto which do look slack for hyper

looking very much forward to your super pi runs :up::up::up:
Just for kicks.
Here's an average set of hypers.
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/P67A-UD7/hypers.jpg
Here's a properly tuned set of psc.
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/P67A-UD7/4%20cores.jpg
Here's a way above average set of hypers tuned properly ( keep in mind i have like 40 gigs of this crap )
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/P67A-UD7/Hypers%20tuned.jpg
Here's cas 6 which needs more testing with a better chip, I can do 1900+ but not at the max of my chip, bclk limits when at max of chip.
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/P67A-UD7/hypers%20c6.jpg
Bottom line unless you got a killer set of hypers you will be no faster than a correctly tuned set of PSC.
Excellent testing,i had this question for a long time, which is faster 6-9-6 or 7-7-7 :) GJ
seems PSC is finally competitive but id still stick to good hypers for absolute best runs, time will only tell as it will depend on max clocks you can get out of ram as SB tends to like high ram clocks at expense of latency, when you compare ratios 16 18.66 21.33 runs get faster with higher clocks even if you drop latency from say 8-8-8- to 9-9-9-
Makes me wonder if a 24.00 multiplier will do wonders with the current arhitecture :)
Yah noticed that to dino, still curious as to what is needed 6-6-6 wise, I wasn't fully dialed in for that run.
Really need a chip that does 5.1 for some 5 gig high speed 6-6-6 runs so i have bclk flexibility.
I did get a run off at like 1940 4.8 but to keep my performance table in line it needs to be run at 5 gig.
I think 50% of the fast hyper run came from ability to run 58 TRFC versus the PSC topped out at 68..... the rest was in the subs.
lol if anyone could get it to even run heheh
my money is on hypers kicking arse on LN2 with about 1100+ clocks at 7-7-6- timings
what people do not seem to grasp is that SB is a lot more efficient than previous gen and ram will not clock as high as previous gen due to extra pressure on IMC
sorry yes
Will catch ya on MSN at some point Dino - when we're both awake at the same time...lol
That is indeed true. As this run shows.
http://hwbot.org/signature.img?iid=5...se&iehack=.jpg
It was quite a bit quicker than my 7-7-7-21 Run at 2133 MHz
It left me scratching my head for quite a while.
Thats what i've also noticed, loose timings really dont matter with sandybridge compared to X58 where they play more of a important role, Even cas 9-10 @ 2k+ results in fabulous scores/latency..
i like where you put your money my friend. i think i will join you with that bet. now if only these sticks could run 7-7-6 sub
zero...i guess 6-6-5 will have to do
http://www.3oh6.com/wp-content/uploa...01/MG_9143.jpg
the M4E still doesn't like Hyper on 2133, but i have a hunch it is my chip. 1020MHz 7-7-6 on 1866 works fine though, i'm
banking on 1020MHz 6-6-5 working too. fingers crossed ;)
Anyone tried them Corsair GTX3's on these Sandy Bridge chips? Or they are better of on an x58 platform?
Apologies for being out of topic...

Very nice 1Day. I need a golden egg.
I have been benching for nearly 5 years. My very first CPU was golden. A E6420 which started me on this benching hobby. And finally now I have a good CPU again.
Now I just need to learn how to get the best out of it.
I hope you find yours soon my friend. At least when you do you will know what to do with it.:)
WOW Clare, jealous
I was playing around with 1m and hyperx kit, does anyone know how I can validate a submission using SPi 1.5 XS mod to HWbot?
okay here are my findings :D
hypers on
MSI GD65
2133 at any cas will not boot. tried 7-8-7 7-7-7 7-9-7 7-10-7
1866 at 7-7-7 or 7-8-7 will boot up to 5ghz maximum! will only run 32m at 4.9ghz :X
PSC (GTX3)
MSI GD65
2133 7-10-7 boots and runs 32m at 5.2ghz
hypers
ASUS p8p67 deluxe
2133 7-8-7 and 7-7-7 both work fine. Max board will boot is 100x51 which runs superpi stable
PSC
ASUS p8p67 deluxe
2133 7-9-7 works fine, same max as hypers 100x51 32m stable.
Soooo, imo its board dependent. gd65 hates hypers, but loves psc. With psc it hit the max speed ive gotten out of the chip.
On the asus board it loves the hyper and also runs the psc to spec. What else would explain this? The chips imc magically chained when I took it out of the socket?
I have another 2600k should be here monday and will do some more fiddling.
@Hondacity: Salamat (Thanks) for that.Quote:
they work better than gtx4s ..on the m4e
@1Day: great chip there....
Nice work Splave!
i bought a retail chip and finally stock came in today
:banana::banana::banana:ing dog in terms of CPU Mhz > ~5325Mhz max or so
in terms of ram clocking its even better than my ES eeek, this chip will boot into windows with 1.1vQPI/VTT and 1.74vdimm and run up to 8M SuperPi , i had to bump QPI/VTT to 1.14 (didnt test 1.12 yet) and its fine with 32M SuperPi too now, so lower vdimm and much lower QPI too eeeek :D
and it runs same frequency at 4.5GHz and 5.3Ghz, here's 5.3Ghz in windows 7
i havent yet figured out voltage sweetspots so this will probably go even lower :D

Good to hear Dinos. Should have my #2 tomorrow night, hoping for the best.
I sold my elpida hyper and run smooth with this

CAS Latency 9-11-9-28-2N
http://www.gskill.com/images/images_...ts/023-450.jpg
This kit dont like low CL but stable @ 2133 9-10-9-26 ~1.60V
IMC is decent on this retail
i was close to running 1092Mhz as well but worried i will kill the ram with too much voltage,,,, more with KPs RAMdominance pot :D
it is a bit tricky hitting high speeds but nothing that easytune cannot do :D:D

Yeap,seems board dependent hyper problems with SB.My hypers won't boot 1866 cas 6,2133 cas 7 on Asrock P67 Extreme6,will run 1866 decently,but 2133 is stable only for S-pi 1M and some 3d benchmarks,at 8-8-8,no matter voltage(give them up to 1.8,no results).Some G.skill will arrive today,i'll test them to see what's going on,so far i reached for S-pi 32M 1866 7-7-6 32M stable at 1.75(same mem worked like charm on P55,memtest stable at 1.6 :D).
My chip is decent, too bad it will do 32M and vantage at 5520 with 1.5,but it wont scale 10 mhz more even with 1.65
id be happy with 5.5GHz heheheh
Dinos that with 1.8 dram ? Also has there been a fix with the ud7 running ram past 2133+ or is that only with hypers?? I got a UD7 on the way atm, and yes i know about the sata 2 incident but doesnt phase me as i use a raid card..
I know I aint in this "league" but, at 5.1Ghz what allowed me to go from 800 cl9-9-9-24 to 933 cl10-11-10-28 1T ( my ram sucks ), that wouldn't run 1 LinX without error, it was lowering the CPU PLL, I'm running 1.55v atm, from the 1.8v default. I know that extreme ppl arent fans of volt lowering... but give it a shot
looks like we have the same chip. 06/vantage/11/wprime with all cores enabled & HT at 5522MHz with 1.51v vCORE all day long. cannot validate 5530MHz. at least mine can run 108.5 BCLK all day long too, so it is a very valuable chip for maxing out efficiency.
oh, and i just received a UD7 yesterday, so after some work today/tomorrow, i will see if my chip is at fault for the lack of high memory clocks on the M4E
I'll share my experience with Giga boards
I think you wont be able to boot at high bclock i think with UD7 from my experience with 3 chips, best to boot at 100-104 somewhere whatever it likes and push it up with ET6 (must install Intel Management Engine Interface or ET6 will not work properly in windows)
make sure you also flash to a new bios(like F7E i used above) with @BIOS app and then copy that bios to backup bios > ALT+F12 during bootup
easiest way to get up to speed when tuning and crashing is to have battery out, flick PSU off and reload profile after clearing cmos, you'll get the max out in 20 minutes pretty much
johnny i put GTX3 ram and it went past 1100, GT2000C7 same thing, cheap corsair vengeance 1600 sticks bench up to 2133 even for me but it takes a bit of patience and fine tuning. There are some SPDs from wath ive seen that dont seem to agree well and IMCs that just arent up to par which could be Jody's case but personally all chips i stuck in UD5 and UD7 i have here are doing the same. Jody certainly has plenty of decent ram that works for me so ram shouldnt be an issue . All my chips respond to VTT raised up to about 1.24v and they also scale with vdimm, also try Marvel SATA3 port on the HDD and PCH bump if you get some stability issues with higher bclock
Looking forward to it Jody, 32M and 3DMARK01 baby
man cheapseats put the hammer down early, i gotta start doing some proper runs it looks awful now doesnt it :D
Thanks dino seems like its IMC related then because GTX2's PSC right? Works fine here but when i use Hypers cant seem to push past 2100, then again not much difference from 2100-2200... Ill try bump the pch voltage and increase vtt a bit more, already at 1.2 though..
GT2000 cas7 - hyper
GTX2 - hyper
GTX3 - PSC i think
YEAH! that probaly explains it lol, dam ud7 hates my hypers and likes PSC :(:(:(:(
I gotta try this UD7:D
Newegg voided my MIVE order yesterday:(
yes my UD7 hate MGH-E
@ chew my Corsair gx2 dont clock very well, but when you run some BBSE'S dimms seems to find that sweet spot without any hassle.. I cant push past 2133 on my eplidas but can push beyond it with my bbses.. I thought it would of been IMC related or bios related but so far nothing seems to fix it.. im guessing compatibility issue? I know it sounds silly but out of options ha
Strange Problem when i use Elpida Hyper @1866 i can bench at 5.4Ghz
When i change to G.Skill 2133 C9 (PSC40nm) i got BSOD at 5.4Ghz
yah maybe they will work if you get a good bin.
I tested from 1600 C6 SPD bin to 2250 c8 spd bin.
like 1 set 1600 c6 MHG-e, 2 sets 1866 c7 mhn and mgh, 2 sets 2000 c7 mhn and mhg and one set 2250 mgh.
All could run 2166, not all could do 7-7-6 however, voltage required to do XXX speed scaled linear, the lower bins needed alot more voltage.
Well , i've stopped blaming the boards and bioses (at least in my case).
For me , it's clearly a cpu IMC problem.
I cant stabilize my hypers with 1/8.
I can play with 1/7 @933 7-7-6-1T all day ... but when i switch to 1/8 @1066 i can only do spi1M @ 9-10-9-28 nomatter how many volts or trfc i use.
Same behaviour from my Corsair Dominator GT and my Super Talent Speed.
(Both previously tested on X58 and capable of 1066++ @CL7)
I've tried both the Asus P8P67 Pro and Gigabyte P67A-UD4 ... and almost every available bios.
Same results.
Are those GTX1/2 still in the market? Or Corsair EOL'ed those already?
@chew: thanks. have another G.Skill kit (6-9-6-24) but it seems to hate the UD7. 2133 is a no go. The UD7 seems to like the Hypers better.
Yeah, similar result here, I think it's bios issue. I try OCZ Blade 2000C7 stick on my Asus P867 Pro and it can boot on 2133(7-8-7-21) with ~1.68v and memory is stable for pifast, wprime, all 3dmark, spi1m....BUT not spi32m. It freeze after 1sec or even less:). I try to enter manual all subtimings, raise VCCIO voltage up to 1.2v, vmem to 1.78v, different timings(8-8-8-24/27, 8-9-8-24/27, 9-9-9-27), different bioses(1053/1253/1204) and nothing, it's freeze immediately when I run 32m. But, when I put all timings on auto in bios it boot 2133@10-10-10-x and it pass 32m!
Same cpu and same mem work well on UD7 on 2133@7-7-6-20@1.72v and 1.14v for qpi.
Waiting for new bios....:)
Raise system agent ;)
Here's you go maxx.
Settings should be extremely stable @ 2133 with only 1.65v.

maybe at 100.1 or lower I/O latency defaults to 1 eva?
I know I can't run anything if i force it to 1 manually.
Could be TWCL is 7 to by default?.
Seems to me 3 settings make it very difficult if to tight. TWCL, TRFC, I/O and i have had no luck at all setting RTL manually....so thats possibly changing straps with bclk change.
could be ? 34x100.1 (left) and 50x100.2 (right) both show IO latency SPD value at 2 for me according to bios no idea what AUTO sets

how do you take those screenshots
also are you select No memory execute to disable?
yeah RTL :banana::banana::banana::banana: to adjust manually but not sure if all this is related to the blck hole at certain *. values.
Would be nice if bios auto showed the values set next to them.

suggestion to Gigabyte bios engineers, add bios support for screenshot dumps to a disk partition or usb flash drive ;)
