I've seen BH-5 chips on OCZ limited edition Rams with "340".......That means: year=2003 and week= 40..........So I think that Winbond is still produces them in limited editions........ ;)Quote:

It's the price for the 256MB stick.Quote:

Pretty overpriced when it's on an elcheapo pcb. KHX3200/256 are still availble here in some stores and cost about the same as the a-data. When i bought my sticks 10 months ago they costed ~460 SEK twinmos PCB, back then the a-data costed less too.
Gabbax
The BH-5 chips haven't been in producation for a while now. They are just using up the chips they already have or could get there hands on. Probably why we see expensive BH-5 sticks.
Hey Hipro I've found something that you might occured or even solved with your IC7 findingsQuote:

When I was modding my NB I noticed that measuring voltage at a particular FSB caused my HOME RADIO RECIEVER TO SHUT :/
Is that relates to : "ABIT should hire RF technican" ?
Or is it just my sick imagination :stick:
You've twisted my arm, LoLQuote:

When I say they should hire an RF technician , FIRST I don't mean myself and second I mean that ALL Mobo manufacturing companies with the todays frequencies should do that coz we are over 2GHz and we should keep in mind the internal RF transmissions.....We have to control them somehow by sheeling the Motherboard's lines or so.......
Thanks CCW.... :toast:Quote:

I think they've got the right idea :D
Lalpoo - I had that exact same PSU.
It died when I ran a T-Bird 1.2c @ 1.75 2.25v, an 80w pelt, and several HDD's off it for about 8 hours... lol.
How do you guys get your hands on ES cpu's?
Always wondered :) Got some special contacts or what :)
BTW, just bought some a-data 512mb bh-5 here in sweden.
Now they're out of stock but coming in as gabbax said.
I haven't got my new rig yet so i haven't maxed them yet but i now they'll manage 210fsb in 2-2-2-5, cant try more on my dad's crappy system :)

I'd like to become one. HND, currently MSC, PhD maybe then :D
It's very difficult, Intel isn't taking on any new reviewers at this time. The Prescott has been available for retail sale in Europe since Deccember 30th though.
Hipro5 been following the thread here and at ocau. If you ever get around to posting at either at least i'll know. I'm usually real busy at work and i'm sure you are as well. But dude how about a pic or 2 to at least keep me going. Oh and well done too dude. Wish i had an ES. Getting my 2.4 to 325fsb is killing me. Need more mods now :D
are we still gone see the mods

Thank you all guys...........
Now.........GOOD news for you..........Yesterday I bought a new ABIT IC7(not -G)........I modded it(but I haven't test it yet) and I borrowed a digicam from a friend of mine(should buy one of my own sometime :D )
I now have about 150 fine fotos of all the modds together and some other modds as well(electrolitic capasitors - heatsinks - e.t.c.)........One of these days I'll write down the whole stuff and I'll post it for you.......It's a lot of "homework" though....... :D
Too many things to be writen and to show......I'll keep you posted.......I'll try to write it down as simple as I can but keep on mind that the modds are not so easy.....You have to cut some traces and so.........So if you are not so "familiar" of stuff like this, I sujest you to go and find a good tecnichian who can do it for you.........
Okay then.Quote:

That's VERY kind.
Apart from spending your time on all the mods you'd do some mods for the others.
You're great :toast: Why aren't we all alike :)
Cheers
Hipro5 i'd settle for some pics alone. Curious if it looks like my Abit BX-133 raid mobo looked after i modded it for a Tualatin cpu. LOL that mobo looked so messed up. It ROCKED!!!! makes me wanna break it out and bench it with my R9800xt. OH n/m i still got #1 overall P3 score. I guess i'll save benching it until someone beats me. :)
Catch22, got a link for the mods required for the socket?
I have a bunch of slot 1 cards that i've moded for FC-PGA but I want to mod them for FC-PGA2, too 8-)
STEvil dude madonion cleaned house and got rid of all threads over a year old. That thread had like 600,000 views and close to 1,000 replies. I'll have to talk to someone at futuremark again and see what they can do. Maybe it's in an archive somewhere. Oh overclockersforum still has the thread going and should have most of the scoop. Also a bunch of dudes asked me if they could post on thier sites the instructions of how to do the mod. Google it and i'm sure you'll find some. I still have the Abit bx-133 raid bios that i modded for the tualatin cpu. Check it here http://pages.prodigy.net/catch22atplay/bx.BIN Added Tualatin microcode but removed some old microcode. So you can't use anything under a P3 500 i believe. Just so you know. I changed some other stuff too but can't remember what. But it was a good bios hack and i think was needed and you should use it. Hope i helped some dude.
Thanks, i'll get out my digging shovel.. 8-)
are you referring to your idea of solving the 5:4 and 3:2 divider problems "once and for all"?Quote:

great work, do some 3dmark :)
What's wierd is the 5/4 divider works better on the max3 than it does on the old ic7. Must be the bioses? Or i'm really learning the manual settings for the ddr.
very nice. try spraying some windex on it, it may go a little faster. j/k lol. nice oc george.;)
Anyone tried using a Max3 bios on an IC7? hehe....
I raised my Abit BE6-II from the dead today... I thought it was toast..!
Yes and it wouldn't flash. I could have forced it with the switches. But i decided not too. Didn't see any benefit anyways. I heard someone sucsessfully did flash it though. But he said it didn't help any in that it did have vdd settings to 3.2v but it still only maxxed at 2.8
Oh it's great raising mobos from the dead. Like this old ic7 i'm on i thought for sure was fried. I was using it to experiment with vdd/vtt mods and low and behold it booted. I was quite amazed and it's been running great ever since.
hey,
is this topic dead ??
i hoop not , would love too see your mods hipro5
it would make me
well yes and no.... once hipro comes and posts the stuff..... it will be the most *alive* thread in the whole world. (just incouraging hipro ;))
Yup just give Hipro5 some time. He'll come thru alright. He updated the OCAU thread and said he was going to upload pics etc tomorow there.

what fsb ?
well i just switched to my system in sig, but even though the memory is good up to 500mhz 2-2-2-5 (memtest test 5 looping a few hours 0 errors) and the chip can do 3.7ghs stable on air, I can't boot past 3.4ghz in dual channel 5/4! Clockgen is no help either. vagp is 1.7v, 5000 rpm fan on northbridge. 310fsb stable in single channel or dual channel 3/2. can boot 250mhz 3ghz 1/1 stable. spread spectrum off, im going to play with the usb legacy settings now. why can't i boot past 3.4ghz in dual channel with the 5/4 divider?!?! I don't wanna crap on this thread but its ticking me off, sorry hipro :(
btw, that fsb:slobber: :slobber: :slobber:
Had the same problem... Change your ram. Nothing can be done with that.Quote:

I had several sticks of ram and some of them were working fine at 5/4 and DID NOT POST with 3/2...
It's not the RAM, it's the motherboard that creates the issue. Don't provoke someone to do that so easily since any modules he'll use will have the 5/4 divider issue, the modules are irrelevant to the problem, plus he'll lose some very rare and good RAM.Quote:

Now if nothing can be done with that or not, HiPro5 has the word here, he mentioned that he had some findings.
And I think you describe the exact opposite, the 3/2 does work most of the time and the 5/4 has the problem.
JUST a random thought, maybe flashing the BIOS could help those of us with vdimm mods who dont want to cut traces. IF the BIOS showed 3.2v wouldnt the MOBO up VTT? I know if I crank up vdimm and run anything less than 2.8 in BIOS my vtt plummets and all goes out of whack...Quote:

No it won't and can't. The winbond chip that controls VTT can only set it to 1.40 max. VDD max was 2.8 but abit is doing a V mod similar to the original ic7 vdd mod. They are tricking the winbond chip on the max3. But they forgot to trick the vtt as well. That was thier crime and is what's causing all the problems.
CATCH, everytime I see your location in your sig, it makes me want to cry dude.:( :D
Hi there everybody...
The modds are about to be uploaded any time now.I'll post the link as soon as they are ready in our forum........They'll be uploaded in English and in Greek langauge...... :)
In the meantime.........here's a "little" update.......Mobo now is an IC7 one not the -G one......IC7-G one is dead and I RMA it.....I got a new one(-G) and it did 380MHz fsb in Dual mode and 387MHz in single mode.......
I think that it can't be compared with the IC7 one I've got now........This mobo was bought for a friend of mine BUT I think that I'll give him mine and keep his.......He doesn't even know what overclocking is and he's not even interested.....so why not keeping it???.... :D
The ONLY problem now is: DOES set-fsb goes higher than clock-gen coz I'm "finished" if it doesn't....... :D
....and.......
Max S-Sandra Memory benchable in single channel mode......
Haha! Man thats totally insane Hipro!! :toast: x2
