This new kit allows you to place the TRUE vertically so to speak... I baught the TRUE as soon as I saw that ^^

Can we maybe get a top 5 list of the best overclocking ram on AMD ? i read this thread and still have no idea what is being used in here.
Part # is in several cpu-z memory SPD tabs.
If you want cas 6 2x2g and max clocks 24/7 with reasonable 24/7 voltage there is no top 5......there is only 1. Benching is a dif story......theres plenty of 1x1gig choices.
It's elpida Hyper based and you surely PAY for it, take your pick theres many manufacturers that carry them.
I want cas 6 max clocks 24/7, i guess what im asking can i get that with good d9gtr ? or does it need to be hypers ?. Your right hypers you will pay dearly, so im kinda leaning toward GTR or GTS if i can get what i want. Thanks for your reply.
I tried the GTS 4gig 2000 cas 8 with no luck at all with them, but that was on ud4p, i now have ud5p, i know don_dan had some good clocks with them, i couldnt get them a lick over 1600 even with 1.70 and cas 9, would bsod everytime, so im looking for something else.
Finding affordable GTR based 2x2 gig is hard enough.......however, the 2x2 gig gtr does not fare as well as 2x1g and to get C6 requires some preety nutsy 24/7 voltage. I would rather reccomend you to go with something that does c7 1600 or 1333 c6 as the performance save benching doesn't realy justify cost.
Elpida Hyper or D9KPT (second needs some serious volts).. maybe BBSE or D9GTR/GTS. Max around 1600 cause if Iīm correct, AM3 canīt do more? Basicly, you can buy some OCZ CL7 and live happily ever after..
My D9KPT can do CL6 1500MHz.. its not miracle, but it can.. and for 99 EUR.. which aint bad..
Ok, well i have a patriot viper 4 gig kit now that is 1600 cas 7 1.9v, about 1640 cas 7 is all i can get stable 24/7. I guess save my money and get hypers is the way to go.
I thought you tested the Dominator GT 2000C8, now you want to get some other Hypers?
Stay away from D9GTR for 24/7 use though, just like chew* said, they require massive volts to reach high clockspeeds.
Max clockspeed is 960MHz, 800Mhz is still a long way to go. ;)
How does 790FXT-UD5P + 965 C3 like 2(3)x1GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 C9 Elpida BBSE's?
And what about 2x1GB D9GTR's?
There's a thread about these in the bandwidth section.

I think I may bite after I return from my trip. I'd love to see what these can do, hopefully 1600 cas6 or 1800 cas6/7. They may pair up nicely with a C3 and some water. ;)
this is the right thread to publish that post, TheBlueChanell

Not the best Ram today, but i think good Spi32m performance
http://www.abload.de/thumb/masterrun_2fcns.jpg
Performance number = 3931262,4
This thread is sort of about the "best" ram for an AMD plaform......that said it applies to ram for 24/7 use....not many people run 2x1 gig in a 24/7 rig not to mention it's easy to clock 2x1 gig to the limit of the IMC.
I know it's only 2x1GB but it was just to test how far the memcontroller would go:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ots/900ram.jpg
Not 100% stable as memtest 86+ test 5 froze after a few seconds.
I think 880-888 is stable.
So not much improvement for the IMC with the C3 revision. :(
Thanks Daniel. ;)
It is CSX Diablo ram, i have 3 (!!) pairs so i will give 4x1GB a shot soon to see if it hits the same limit.
No Hypers here (yet) i'm waiting for the price to go down before i take the plunge.
Vdimm was 2.02V set in bios, these sticks need around 2.04V to do DDR 1800 7-6-5 on my (now dead:() X48 board.
3 pairs
I got myself a Cellshock kit off ebay, my first D9GTR, but they didn't want to play nicely when I was testing them, I couldn't enter BIOS with them. I need to spend some time with them again. 2.02V is lower than I expected, which is rather cool, but still, Hyper chips are incredibly powerful. Mine were stable at 884MHz CL6-6-5-20 1T on my C2 965.
Please do some 4x1GB testing, I haven't seen anyone do it, and you have some fine RAM to do it.
Just tested 4x1GB of ram and i was quite surprised to say the least, see for yourself:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/915ram4g.jpg
1more click of fsb resulted in a bsod.
Maybe the higher Vdimm (2.1V) was the reason for going higher than with 2x1GB.
I think it's fair to say the amount of dimm's are irrelevant for the IMC's max. ;)
Maybe for you, and for everyday use ;) 4x1 will run into issues maxxing out cold
Imc is not the limit, your ram is the limit now. And the crosshair III maxxes out higher.
Try 7-6-6 or 7-7-7 also 32m would be nice ;)
Gigabyte has a board wall at 940.

Here' what you should expect from your d9's timing/speed wise. I don't run 1m becasue well it's misleading.

I don't think it's the ram mate, both pairs ran DDR1900+ 7-6-5 in my Rampage Extreme -- 32M stable.
I will try more volts on the ram to see if i can get higher.
How high could you take your ram in the Crosshair III with normal cooling?
Btw, nice results on the ram clocking there.
Nice going Eugene, I haven't seen anyone take 4x1GB that high!
@ krjalone: Another one running Dominator GTs! Can you go any higher on the RAM?
Thanks Daniel but seeing Brian's results it seems like i failed. :D
Surely i will try more with 2x1GB and a bit more volts, i might even kill some time doing 32M runs. ;)
Zeus after you hit 956 stop trying as its a physical wall of the cpu, crosshair III can get you there however.
Take your time and don't force em. You will figure it out :)
krjalone, lock in those timings bud.
They should do 6-6-5-18-24 prime stable at that speed.
I will test my ram.
Comparing to Brian's results is frustrating most of the time... :D
On the other hand it's a great source of motivation chasing his scores. I hope to do that with a C3 some day. :)
32M on AMD... *yawn* I was half asleep after a run finished, it's even worse if a run crashes after 2/3 of the time...
Alright man, thanks for the tip.
I just don't understand what was stopping me this afternoon as i know for sure the first kit i tried can do 956 easy with the timinings i used.
Off to try more volts now. :D
*edit*: More volts didn't help, memtest 86 test 5 freezes immidiately at DDR 1800.
What Memory you using Zeus ?, keep at it, you will get it.
Gonna spend some more time with it tuning things then but it's not that important to me, i was just trying to find the IMC max. ;)
Neo mike, it's CSX Diablo ram with Micron D9GTR chips.
Does this seem right?
Everything is in stock setting my setup is in the sig.
I am wondering if the FSB : DRAM ratio is off?
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...9/Garu_mem.jpg
Just set ratio manually.
The ratio should be set to 1:1?
Depending on what speed you want to run them at. Set 3:10 for 1333 or 1:4 for 1800. 1:1 is not suitable for amd set ups.
test the new g-skill 1.35v kit on am3 yet????????
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231321
Look at this:
Problem with that corsair ram, its good ram, but over the top on price $350 for 4 gigs of 1600, cas 6 out of my reach cash wise.
what clock and timings?
Here you go mate! ;)
Fastest offering seems to be a set of 4GB DDR3-1600 CL6.
I like the green, it's a nice addition to the existing red colour theme, if only they made the fins in yellow now.... :D
Not much info on this ram yet:

hm,its not bad, good choice for Thuban PC maybe :)
i just order the Dominator GT's Cas 8 flavor at 2000mhz, i will post results once i get all my parts and have it setup
Dragon
Might be a new flavor in town.
GTX 2250's incoming.
Rated 1800 6-6-6 on amd, my guess is mobo dependant.

Looks like 2g modules to me ;)
Ehhh $600. I need to do some intel testing as well :)
I got Kingston HyperX PC16000 CL9 today. These have Elpida BBSE's and doesn't seem best for AMD, but good enough. First boot@1,65V: http://ceemic.pri.ee/amd/912mhz.JPG
Didn't tried a lot, but seems CL7 is hard to get...
Read the thread, Brian said cas 7 is tough on AMD. 6 seems to be his personal sweet spot :)
Still 912 is a nice speed. :)
LMAO they would come out with that now that i bought the 2000mhz cas 8 GT's.....my freaking luck....ha ha ha, i couldnt have just waited all of maybe 2 days.....NOOOOO!!!!!
Although it would have been another 200 bucks...on ram i would have paid it, maybe in the future QQ
Dragon
what tRC you guys runnin on d9GTR-s? i have litte problems geting my memory stable over 890 cl 7-6-6-18-40 @ 2.35v :D any tricks on memory subtimming, to get imc run "happy" ?
one old run:

Amd Phenom II 965 c3 @ 6600 mhz
super pi 1m, 10.313
love the perfomance per clock :P Running on gigabyte 790FXT-UD5P
Try........7-6-5-15-11-1T 90ns TRFC , should be good for up to 1800 then back off to 7-6-6 to about 936 ( 1872 effective )
Should be stable enough for some 1m ;)

Hey, i have been playing for week now with RIPJAW 200mhz cl 9 kit. Here what i have reached so far with stock volts ( 1.6v for mem)
Bought 2 kits of cellshock C7 12800, but other kit was dead. Another one reached 1800mhz with 7-7-7 and 1.9v but i have to return both kits to seller.
Those was JNL. Ugh, time to decide if i order new gtx2 memorys.
http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/722...jws32m2.th.jpg
It's board, cpu and ram dependant.......
my bro just built his new system and were wondering what chips the ram has they do 1600 6-6-6-20 1T 1.64V (havent tested lower volts will do that tonight)
im pretty sure there D9 just want to be sure
kingston KHX2000C9D3K2/2GN
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104130
d9 won't be pulling 1600 c6......not with that voltage.....
BBSE would be my guess.....
would it do 1600 cas 5 1.7-1.75V?
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
i think the only thing limiting this memory will be the 550 C2 its really hard to get it to 4ghz
ok thinks chew i will post back with what i find
Just a quick reference test @ 2,30V.
Diablo 2x1GB D9GTR :)
http://ceemic.pri.ee/amd/d9gtr@912mhz.JPG
I have been doing some testing at Cas 5, at 1485 cas 5 it is nearly as fast at 1760 cas 6 only about 150 cinebench points difference favoring the 1760 cas 6, i think that 1600 plus cas 5 would something pretty crazy to see since on AM3 we ARE running into a hard clock wall at cas 6 (not all of us just the ppl with the ram that can run those speeds) , im hoping here in about a week i will have those new supertalent 2200 cas 8 sticks to give them a go
Dragon
I didnt think that BBSE would touch 1600 cas 6? i thought that was in the cas 7 range for it? or is 1600 cas 6 as high as it normally goes at cas 7
ill try to get some tests up on cas 5 benching once i get my new Supertalent sticks and i hope to break at least 1550 cas 5 or over 1800 cas 6 stable, the highest i can get atm is 1485 cas 5 about 15 min prime blend stable(stopped there) or 1760 cas 6 also for 15 min of prime (they both pass hyperpi 32m and memtest)
Dragon
The 1m runs posted for reference are exactly what they are.....useless and misleading to users for a ballpark ram stability, please stick to 32m.
Cas 5 on AMD

Cas 6 on AMD.

Wow, nice results. Which ICs?
D9GT eg :p
Thx
@ chew*
You didn't state voltage. Ofc they wont make it with low voltage, but it is not impossible and I'm positive we'll see it when imcs and boards are getting better at the latest.
What the fick are guys talking about? I didn't say anything about Micron beating Elpida or whatever.
Im going to order the 2200 cas 8 Super talent ram here in a few days, i have to get it from ewiz.com as they pulled it off the egg....figures, but i finally got my 2000 cas 8 Dominator GTs 1m stable over 1800, broke 16 sec super pie 1m also
Dragon
I finnally found some D9GTR's!:) Here some results (they also do 7-6-5-18 1T 1840MHz with 2v).

Very newbie question...
When you are pushing these sticks to these limits are you able to use them on a day-to-day basis like playing games, processing videos and so on?
Would I as a sorta gamer, but otherwise someone that wants a nice system need to push my memory to such limits?
I am looking to upgrade to a 965BE with the new Gigabyte board or the Crosshair III. But I am not sure on the memory and if I want to try to push this chip to 4.0 on good air cooling (if possible), would I need to get some kick butt memory to make that happen?
Sorry for the probably lamo question.
No, it's not sensible to push your ram to the limit for 24/7 usage. Back down to a comfortable voltage and see where it lands. Make sure it's 100% stable by running HCI memetest. Nothing as annoying as unstable ram. :( (BSOD's)
Got yesterday.
http://prohardver.hu/dl/upc/2010-01/13063_domi_gt.jpg
Test later... when I get back my GD70 from RMA.:shakes:
Ok, I agree with that. With that said will I see any noticable differences when game playing say with get some GT's ($349) over some other nice sticks but not as OC'd?
What sticks would folks recommend and how many 2x2 4x2?
I currently have Mushkin, but will have to replace when I go to a DDR3 board.
I just want to get some nice sticks that I can push a little that will allow me to keep my 965 at or close to 4.0 if I can get it there and not have to break the bank.
Appreciate your thoughts.
errr..so what's the answer for this thread? best ram for AMD platform is...??
i would also want to know which is better,
1800 CL8 or 1600 CL7
because i think that two is the most easily achieved ram speed at AMD platform. ofc to be used daily too :)
oh, and one more question. i have 2x2gigs of gskill trident 16000 CL9, it is possible to run stable @1800 CL8/1600 CL7 at "reasonable" voltage? (say, under 1,7v) because whatever i tried, i cannot run this ram @1600 CL7. important to note, i don't want to running this ram above 1,7v for daily use. the best i can get is 1600 8-7-8-16 @ 1,6v. i don't know what is that limiting my ram to run @ 1600 CL7. whether the kit or the skill my self :p:
i am a newbie and still confused about what first must to do when it come to OC'ing RAM
btw, thx for all the help here :)
Getting very expensive ram to get very high and very tight is not worth it for just daily use and gaming but if you're looking for top notch performance good (expensive) ram is recommended.
You're gonna see the real difference once you start benching.
2x2GB will do, it's what most use nowadays. In conjuction with a 64bit OS of course. ;)
Sorry to say but you obviously haven't read well through this thread, have you?
The answer is blatenly obvious: ram with Elpida Hyper chips.
Who did you see run 1800 CL8 here? :shrug:Quote:
1800 CL8 or 1600 CL7
because i think that two is the most easily achieved ram speed at AMD platform.
Tight timings is best on amd, 1333 is enough with just 6-6-6, 1600 6-6-6 is better of course.
Your ram most likely has Elpida BBSE chips so you won't see much better results on them as you've already got from them.
Just ordered a 790XT-UD4P and a set of Corsair 2x2gb 1600s 7-8-7-20. Going to see how they do, and Ill post some benches when they get here.
sure i have read all page in this thread, but i thought that the answer would be more simple like "use this brand of memory", or "use the ram with XXX spec". beside of that, how do i know if the ram that i will buy is based on Elpida Hyper chips?
ups, i mean that it seems like the people with good oc'ing ram skill in here (with not-so-expensive-kit) is usually getting around 1800 CL8/1600 CL7, so my target is around there too ^^
so, what can i expect with the Elpida BBSE chips? (assuming that my ram is based on that chips), and what the best setting/best performance i can get with this stick?
sory, i am totally newbie when it's coming to OC'ing ram :p:
if someone can show me link for what thread i must read first, it would be appreciated :yepp:
So how are Elpida doing with AMD? I've found DDR3 modules 1066mhz 7-7-7 http://www.elpida.com/en/products/de...10UE8BDF0.html are they worth buying or is it simply a waste of money? What I want to try and achieve is high clocks/tight timings
Maybe som1 here can make me decide finaly what 2x2gb memorykit i will buy! :)
Im ordering kit from mindfactor.de so kits witch is available there within one week, is ok. i was thinkin about 2x2gb 2000Mhz CL8 Kinston hyperX kit, but now i started hesitate. Does that kit have elpida hyper or BBSE ic's these days?
I was also lookin lilbit cheaper 2x2gb exceleram 2000Mhz CL7 kit. If som1 knows less than 200euros kit from there witch have hyper ic's let me know fast. Order goes out in 2 days and i dont wanna sell mems rightaway and order new ones :D
And at last, im going to use them with AM3,X58 and P55 platform.
whats the best budget memory kit with best potential OC for AM3? for around $100
im using a X4 620 to OC... how good is this IMC? i got an asus m4a785g evo mobo
I was thinking G.skill eco series or ripjaws? how about Adata gaming series
Getting past 940mhz dispite timings really depend on IMC..... 5-5-5-12 is doable, but 6-5-5-12 is maximum as for performance....
how about these budget Corsairs XMS3 1600 8-8-8-24 1.65v
$99 free shipping model: CMX4GX3M2A1600C8
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145263
seems like amd790FX/SB750 does not like high vdim too, with Asus Crosshair
had hardtime setting up old D9JNL blue sticks and the same with Gskill 4GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 ECO 1.35v, the mobo only starts at 1.5v
gskill PI 12800 series did better but only at with one stick (these are a triple kit)
well i'm aming for OCz or Gskill
what's wrong with cellshock they stopped the business of Dram?
