The Lanparty is the ONLY revision B here. The infinity is only available in rev a+!!!

I don't agree. Rev A lanparty is a totally different board, different layout, different voltages, I really don't think they use the same bios. On the contrary Infinity (which is only in rev A) shares the same layout and bios features of lanparty Rev B, so basically the bios is the same (and you can figure it out by watching at the compiled time) with lanparty one having another net adapter (two instead of one) and a different pcb colour (black instead of red). Hope it makes sense now. :)

I have had over 10 NF7's and the last 3 have sucked terribly with low vdimm below 3v just struggling for glamour shots into the low 220's. My week 09NB does 235FSB but these later ones are hit and a lot of miss. What ram modules is everybody trying on these boards? Mine are TwinMos 3700 and Kingston PC3500 Hyper X.
The right memory is the key with these N2 boards...and of course VDimm "voltage" the attention getter on this one.:)

Hey pal, I know what you mean :)

I only wanted to mention that IMHO dfi names bios' for 1st rev with A, for newer B rev with A+, but you can prove me wrong and call me a fool ;) :D

NF7 quality has decreased over time :( I was hoping they will improve with the release of their new champion AN7 but nope :mad:

So I switched to dfi. Mem scores are much better and that's always good for 3d scores. Hope I can find a vcore mod for it to use full potential of my prom. That was a plus for the nf7...

I am using now the ch-5 of my friend redskin, he actually has my lovely bh-5 and also got himself some badass bh-5 :D
The ch-5 are 2,0-2-2-11-11-16-en-en-fast at 3,1V and could complete a full 3dmark2k1 run when I was able to boot with it once.

The dfi has a 4 port sata raid controller, 1,9vdd, 3,3vdimm and much more mem settings in bios. Not to forget the cmos reloaded feature. With that you can save 4 different bios configs completely and use them per hotkey at boot up (pressing 1 for config 1 and so on, cmos clear should work by pressing esc).

OK, here's a newbie's take on the LANPARTY ULTRAII,,,,,THEY SUCK!!! We bought one after reading the reviews and thought it would rock. Well, when we got the thing, got it home and saw the bios,,,it has awesome overclocking stuff, but when we tried to load our OS's,,,,,what a pain in the @**!!! we worked on that thing, taking shifts, for hours and days loading and reloading and tweaking and messing w/ stuff,,,trying to get it working....no deal.,,,,we finally said to heck with it and took it back. We saw so many of them returned sitting there in the back room, and on the shelf,,,it was almost funny. The board was just plain buggy.

Buggy. The bios is... buggy. I cannot boot with fsb higher than 236, and if I save the bios settings with 240+ it gives me long annoying beeps :(

Sometimes I get to boot anyway. Holding reset for about 16seconds or so gets the board up with the desired setting sometimes...

Another thing getting extremely on my nerves is that using cpu voltage higher than 1,85V results in reboot under load :mad:

Maybe the tiny mosfets are not capable of it :(

I looked for the board over dfi.com.tw and did not find a dealer in AUS :(

The only way to get it would be ordering it overseas... or finding a reseller who is willing to get one for you.

Just got my infinity. Options are real nice. Very sweet seeing my ram getting 2.24-2.29vdimm without a mod... But even as low as 220fsb dual channel I can't even pass memtest... despite both sticks doing 240 single channel through memtest just fine on this board. I will work with it and see if I can work anything out. Either way... it's better than my nf7-s which can't run these two bh5 sticks above 166fsb. It also has some issues keeping oc settings for me as well... but I kinda figure those will go away once I have it setup and stop tweaking.

The boot problem you encountered is duplicated in DFI lab one hours ago when the DRAM need 3.0V or above to be stable enough @ High FSB

A BIOS update can solve the problem , beta testing BIOS will be avalaible today or tomorrow ...

Finally I can have dual channel at over 245 I wasn't allowed before. With 10/15/2003 bios I could only bench 3dmark at 233 DC and had a lot of instability problems with prime when stressing chipset. Now I just did a quick test at 248, over than that and 3dmark kicks me out to the desktop because of ram limits. I'm gonna test it further running prime and memtest and I'm also gonna see if ch5 ram compatibility is improved. Great work! :thumbsup:

I will post some results in the evening, I'm going to test my ram sticks (6 in total) to check what's the better combo and then put the two favourite ones to show some bandwith :)

Nice, might pick one of these up soon. I was really hoping a new bios would come out and save my AN7 but alas my 30 day trial period is nearing expiration. DFI has impressed me with there effort to get the board better OC ability releasing a bios not needed for the specs on the box.... imagine that.

I am also encouraged by that killer bandwidth with BH5 sticks. I can tell my AN7 is nothing special anyways but it doesnt seem to like my ram either.

Now I just need an UN-locked 2500+, my locked Barton in my Infinity will do 190x11 at stock volts with 11-2-2-2-2-9-12, enabled, enabled, fast, Aggressive CPU interface. Prime stable

But at 200x11 it needs 1.85vcore to be Prime stable.

Maybe this new bios will help!!!:toast:

My 1700+ can work at 2300Mhz with only 1.6v...

Board isn't even 3d app (wc3) stable at 200 fsb 5-2-2-2 and the defaults on everything else with 3.0v going through my bh5. This is single channel even. I'm suspecting I might have some of the extra ram dealies messed up. I know the standard 4. But what are all the rest? Gonna flash to this new bios asap also and see if it helps.

Ok... something is screwy with either me, my khx3000, or recent nforce2 boards.

Im priming at 236 6-3-3-2-2.0 right now (adata chips 6ns). Prime fails in less than a minute at 220 5-2-2-2-2.0 on either of my bh5's. So far it's behaving ALOT like my last nf7-s 2.0.

This is two boards, 3 sticks of khx3000 (ALL bh5), 4 or more different cpus, 2 different psus (volts are always great)... I don't know what I am missing here.

From what u are saying i would say its your ram which is not up to the task.

You seem to have changed all your other components, it may be good idea to get your hands on some ram which has been tested in another system to run at a certain speed stably and then try it in yours.

This should answer the ram question.

whoops didnt c you tried other ram which has answered my above suggestion, so your BH5 isnt up to the task in your boards.

Aye. First stick (now dead) could do 240 in my old nf7-s. Second stick did 215ish in my current nf7-s but only in slot 3. Third stick is doing 235-240ish in this infinity right now... in... you guessed it, third slot (6-3-3-2-2.0 timings because the adata in slot 1 cant do 5-2-2-2-2). It completed a run of the game tests 3dmark 2k1se with prime running in background at 236. Now I'm at the point where the Adata might start limiting me. So I wanna figure out a way to get bh5 working in channel 1.

Priming at 6-3-3-2-2.0 dual channel interface aggressive right now.

I CAN NOT GET BH5 TO WORK ABOVE 166MHZ IN THE FIRST CHANNEL OF ANY NF2 BOARD I'VE GOTTEN IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS.

I'm using a stick of adata in slot 1 and a stick of bh5 (KHX3000) in slot 3. 236mhz FSB. 1.6vdd 2.3vdimm. I can prime and run 3dmark for one run of 3dmark. Will test further as I can.

The new bios seems to clear up alot of the issues... but I still can't post when I escape from memtest often... even at stable settings. And I'm really getting bothered about this bh5 problem with my boards slots 1&2. I can't believe no one else has experienced it. I'm going to be going 64bit as soon as I see .09 chips affordably.

Use beta bios. It solved my problems that are likely the same. What week is it your bh5 chips?

Priming right now at 243x10 tightest timings. So far everything is good. I did a quick sandra mem compare with my old abit nf7-s and the result is that DFI, after proper fine tuning, is FASTER than abit by about 20Mb/30MB respectively in FPU/ALU. 3Dmark is a tomorrow toy, sorry.

So how would you compare it to your modded NF7? Im in the same position as you, my NF7 is a good performer but suffers from the high fsb high cpu clock problem.

Im hoping the infinity doesnt suffer from this.

Also has anyone tryed to figure out vdimm mod for this brd :D

I have not tried the NEW beta bios yet... But Im using some OCZ 3200 rev2 bought in Jan/2003 which im told is probably BH5.

Without the new bios Im at 225fsb with locked multi 11 on my 2500+, maxed volts on the Infinity.

New bios is great!!!
I changed back to my 1700+ JIUHB 310 cause its unlocked.
The locked Barton was quite possibly maxed at 225x11, with the new bios it didnt change anything.
BUT, the 1700 is priming at 235x10.5, runs 3DMarks01, CPU interface aggressive, 11-2-2-2-2-9-12, enabled, enabled, fast
1.9vcore, 3.3vdimm, dual channel...

I successfully flashed to the beta bios and all i can say so far is that its atleast booting at the saved settings.

i'll know more later on since i just switched from an AF7-S v2.0 and i have to reinstall windows since i guess this thing dont like the SATA raid drivers from the other board cause i get BSOD when it enters windows.

Right now i'm only using a HSF on the barton 2500+ and damn does this HS suck! 43C idle in the bios at 1.8 vcore.. :rolleyes: heheh it was the same for the NF7 board.. I have water cooling setup just gota hook it up on the board but wanted to see how this thing will work first since its such a biatch installing a Danger Den Maze 4 on here with the "NO Space" around the mounting holes.. Man i cant imagine anything being worse.

Its doable. Ya just gota cut up those nylon spaces to just fit the hole.. I mean trimming them so thin that theres barrly anything let on the spacer.. Once ya do that and carefully insert it and tightin it down carefully so that it dont take out any chips around the spacer, you'll be fine :D

Man if they could of just gave us another 8th of an ince then the 16th of an inch thats there, it would be alot easier.. Its not for the faint of heart.

What shall I do guys? Try out the AN7 first, or shall I just send if back for the DFI Infinity NFII Rev B?

What is the DFI board like for undervolting on VCore and overclocking the CPU. On my NF7-S V1.2 I need to set VCore to 2.03v to get 1.95v on my CPU for stable 2.8GHz operation.

Just thinking 2v may not be quite enough to get 2.8GHz or higher :( And I don't want to have to VMod the board.

Okay. Results wanted. :D

I can loop 3dmark with my friend's ch-5 twinmos at 3,1V dual channel, 1,9Vdd, 1,8Vagp, 1,85Vcore and ram settings at 11-2-2-2-2,0-11-16-en-en-fast and 10,5x243MHz :toast:

About 21814pts in 3Dmark2k1, but I think I could do better if only the vcore would not crap out on me at anything over those 1,85 :(

Prom fits ;), but cannot make too much out of its cooling capacities cause my barton maxes around 2580 IMO at 1,85V...

Trying 4 more later, maybe 246x10,5 ;) :cool:

P.S. Getting my twinmos bh-5 back from my friend on saturday when my parents wanna visit me here :) Yippie. Hope the results are better ;)

heh boards going back.

I dont even wana get into it i'm so sick of this board right now.. A whole night wasted testin this thing trying everything.

Bottom line.. the voltage rails on this board is a joke! I'm using a Antec TrueControl 550WATT P/S and i have all the rails maxed and i get low rails on everything but the +5v line. The 3.3 line is flucuating around 3.24-3.28. The 12v line which was really hgih on the AN7 and the NF7 was at 11.81-11.90v Crazy! On the other boards it was overvolting at 12.20v.

I believe this had everything to do with the board not being able to do DC at anything over 210FSB.. Yes with the never bios thankfully i got to see how the board was.. i never had a no boot prob anymore.. but theres no way any bios update can fix the unstableness with this board and the weak voltages.

I think i'll just take a chance and try another Abit AN7 wtih those nice big mossfets.

If you can settle for 200FSB DC then this is the board for you.. if not stay away.

Bottom line.. the voltage rails on this board is a joke! I'm using a Antec TrueControl 550WATT P/S and i have all the rails maxed and i get low rails on everything but the +5v line. The 3.3 line is flucuating around 3.24-3.28. The 12v line which was really hgih on the AN7 and the NF7 was at 11.81-11.90v Crazy! On the other boards it was overvolting at 12.20v.

it seems too simple to say crap about a mobo since you actually tested only one so far... I'm getting convinced software readings are wrong as measuring them with DMM is another story. Otherwise my mbm5 says +3.3v are at 3.12v/3.30v and I think it wouldn't be possible to bench 3dmark a 240+ with those rails, don't you? Moreover the problems you're experiencing are the same I was, but beta bios 12/10 DID the trick ;)

I need to do more testing & benching... I do still have a problem getting Prime stable... could be my DDR. Super PI & 3Dmarks @ 235x10.5, but Prime failed after almost 2hrs. :(

After that Prime started failing quicker.... tried 10x230, only Primed for about 50min.

It would be easy to say screw Prime... but I would still know. :(

Gotta do more testing... and gotta have a UN-locked Barton!!

Just a suggestion... Lithan was having problems with BH5. I have been told that others here are getting along with BH5 and that has alleviated my concerns a bit. But with something as quirky as the NF2 chipset, It would be great if people would list as much as possible about there setup-> volts, and ram chips.

hey eclypse.... the tiny mosfets on this board does have me concerned a bit as I brought up earlier in this thread. I looked at a bunch of pics from newegg side by side and you can easily spot the difference between it and any Abit NF2 or other boards power reg. However, I also read something about Abit possibly using some smaller mosfets on some baords that actually put out less heat. I know that is very general and not specific. However, if you look at DFI's budget NF2 the -AL model you can see that board - which is super budget, has the standard size mosfets, more caps and all that. Not as many as Abit's but much more regular. All I'm saying is there are reasons to believe the smaller mosfets were not for money saving and being cheap. Of course, board makers dont always get what they set out to do, like the AN7. It's just the 150 buck Lanparty has these same tiny mosfets, while el cheapo $70 AL is more what you are used to seeing. Go to newegg, whip up the AN7, DFI AL, and Infinity. The second pic type is a similar angle for all boards.

Will you use an MM on a few spots see what is really going on?

edit: actually the second picture for the Ultra AL is a near identical shot to first for the infinity.

My voltages are all stable, at least the readouts seem to be more true than my nf7's ones... :rolleyes:

12,2 for 12V (mm reads 12,4 - NF7 was 12,1 readout), 5V at 5,2 (mm readout 5,25V, NF7 showed 5,08V), and 3,3V I do not know exactly, but it's about the same misreading ;)

Thought about upping the 12V line to 13V trying to overcome the vcore limit...

But no other stock board can hit 260dc fastest out of the box AND there's a feeling I could get that stable, maybe :D (with bh-5)

Someone on another forum wants to study these to c if they can work out Vmods for these mobos.

Im sure alot of us are still going to want to up the volts

SAE: I'm running prime95 at 1.95v set by bios and everything is fine... my mosfets are barely warm at touch but I have some silent fans over them. As soon as all is setup properly I'll get into the vmod investigations too as I'm interested in finding the limit of the mobo.

Further considerations:
About vcore problems, when set to 1.95v and priming I get no longer cable connection via lan after a while, sound is working instead; it seems a power regulation problem when going too high with vcore that causes something strange in southbridge I guess... As vcore goes on fluctuating I suspect a better mosfet dissipation could help.
Dimm slots are also causing me some headache: while slot 1&2 work about the same (difference is 1mhz of max oc), slot3 (the one necessary to dual channel which is located on the outer side of the board) seems to hit a wall at some fsb.
Let me know if you're experiencing the same behaviour...
BTW: I tried 6 sticks of ram in total, all BH5 (CH5 is a no go), and all oc less in dimm slot1.

I doubt that.. heh i've done more testing last night.This time with water cooling hooked up.

The CPU wasnt stable if i added 1.95v vcore.. As long as i left it at 1.9v the system was stable.. So with that vcore i could only go up to 2420Mhz with my Barton 2500+. On my RMA'ed NF7-S v2.0 i could get into windows at 2700Mhz at 2.06v.

Once i put a load on the system with Prime95 the system would reboot almost instantly..

I also found that the middel dimm slot 2 sucked.. So 1 and 3 is what i had to use to get DC going.

The board is just a tease.. You can boot into windows with crazy FSB like i got in there at 245FSB but the rails were all over the place! Dancing like crazy. My 12v line would bottom out at 11.70 and the 3.3 line would go as low as 3.25.

I tired everything i could to keep the voltage stable like trying to use as low of voltage on the vcore and vdimm but doing that left me with a crappy overclock..

I dont htink i've ever seen a boards voltages go up and down as much as this..

heres some screens i took that had some nice FSB.. too bad the board liked to reboot once i put a load on. Look at the voltages.

THis one is just single channel..

Man if i could get that other bench stable at 240 DC i'd shut up about this board and put a big old smile on my face and save 1200+ bucks buying an FX system if the wife allows the order to go threw that i made late last night hehehe..

eclypse: my old barton overclocked the same as on NF7.
I don't really trust in those software voltage readings as I assume it's impossible to bench 245 at 3Dmark at 3.10v on +3.3v... well but I did... Assuming that you flashed to the last beta bios, did you try to test the cpu in SC? Could it be a random ram related issue, my board hates my ch5 sticks.

I really like this Infinity!!!
Last night I dropped the multi to 9 and upped the FSB to 240, vCore to 1.90 and vdimm to max. And to my surprise it booted ran benches and ran Prime for1hr(no errors I stopped it) also ran 3Dmarks, Super PI..... so i tried (briefly, more tonight) 9x250 loads windows just fine runs Super PI, Sandra benches... but not Prime. So I backed it back to 9x240 and started Memtest #5 only and let it run all night... and to my surprise it is still running over 10hrs. All this with OCZ PC3200 rev2 DDR almost a year old.

This is the kinda board i wanted!!! Im shooting for 250 and beyond tonight. LOL

Did I mention this is on AIR? And stock cooling on the MB.

Yes i tested it to death first using just a single stick.. Then when i found how high i could go with the voltages stable i slapped in the other stick.

In either DC or SC.. if i used either a high voltage on the vcore 1.95-2.0 and or the vdimm 2.9-3.0 the system would just go pop and restart within 2-3 seconds of puttin a load on it with prime95... sometimes just tryin to get a membench with sandra it would do it.. sometimes just waitin for something to happen it would do it on its own with no load hehe.. Crazy.

Ok i just noticed that for some reason someone turned down my damn 12v pot on my Antec TC 500.. hehehe can you believe it! I'm like yeah baby! Turned her up adn now she stays over 12v.. Did it do anything for stability? Nope. :(

Can anyone tell me what there 3.3+ line reads idle and under load? And if you have a tweaked P/S please say so.. i'm thinking it might just be a dud board.. I've had a 3.3v line prob on about 3 early NF7-S boards.. i believe the prob went away with my first v2.0 NF7-S.

As for +3.3v I have a psu with adjustable pots but setting to 3.55v (read with DMM on psu wires) gives me 3.17v to 3.35v (always fluctuating). I'm wondering if adding caps on the mobo will solve the "dancing" rails and make me gain some few mhz...

Hi guys,i am new in these forums and i am so happy to have found them!I see a lot of experts in here! :) Well most probably i will buy the LANPARTY NFII B and i'd like to know if its a good overclocker(better than nf7 and an7 that is).I managed to pull out 2675mhz stable out of my 2800+ thoro (198x13.5) on my asus a7n8x deluxe rev1.4.This board is very good stable etc,but when it come sto overclocking,it plainly sucks...any fsb above 198 will result in black screen and no boot..not even 13x199/200 works nothing..Where do you think my cpu would go with the LANPARTY NFII B?I got corsair xms 3500.System is Watercooled with TREX(waterblock with integrated peltier) on cpu,waterblock on chipset and well waterblock on gpu but thats kinda irrelevant.So i'd like your opinions since i am kinda new in the overclocking scene! :D Oh and keep up the good work!You guys rock

I may get one of these in the new year as a project board if I dont have anything better to do, im out on the piss every night till christmass so I wont have much time for serious benching... and I still need to work on the prommy.

How is the board working out CPU clock wize... I need to be able to get a high CPU clock and FSB something which has illuded me thus far... (high clock means more than 2.8gig)

1.9v on a DLT3C cpu may be the problem. my 1700 dlt HATES vcore over ~1.825

if im lucky it will boot with 1.85-875, but it is NOT happy with it. i think thats your problem.:)
