If it just read some table in the bios, then it could be emulated like the OEM Windows read SLIC tables in the bios, or emulated via a loader. SLI loader :p:

The following tools can be handy:
1.
Intel ACPI Component Architecture
2.
Microsoft ACPI Source Language Assembler
I will try to insert that to BIOS from P5B DLX.
All we need is:
Get BIOS
Extract ACPI table from it
Decompile
Insert that strings
Compile
Insert ACPI table into BIOS
Flash it to mobo
I'm not BIOS / nor software coder, but I will try... :(
But have only P5B Deluxe here for experiments, and 8800GS with 6600GT :)
What about KeT? He was modding bioses, should ask for help?
Something seems fishy with this.. I don't know of a single successful attempt by modders to extract the key from a BIOS and inject it into a "non approved" BIOS without corrupting it.
So... I've just tried to extract ACPI tables from next bioses:
ASUS P5B Deluxe (AMI) <<< Extracted and decompiled successfuly.
ASUS P5N32 (AMI) <<< Unpack tool don't want to open it :(
Gigabyte P965-DQ6 (Award) <<< Extracted and decompiled successfuly.
Gigabyte N680SLI-DQ6 (Award) <<< Extracted and decompiled successfuly.
There is NO such strings as xXlAinXx stated last posts. I think there is another SLI check here.
Foxconn Bloodrage (Award) <<< Extracted successfuly. Don't want to decompile :(
Foxconn FlamingBlade (Award) <<< Extracted successfuly. Don't want to decompile :(
But for foxconn mobos I can see in extracted ACPI DSDT tables next:
FlamingBlade is similar.Quote:

So whats the deal? I have a maximus II formula with 9800gtx+ and 6600 gt laying around. Has he released any other info?
Finally great engineers make it working
http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/x...Screenshot.png
:D
Well done
why not put the patch online or pm it ? I can make a screenshot like this in a matter of minutes yet noproof it it works in eg 3D marks etc... I got some P45 mobo's here as some X48's awaiting SLI action...
oh wow nice
are you going to share it with everyone now heheh
Wow, not so fast :)
That's not mine archievement, it's made by member of TechPowerUp!, http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpo...&postcount=302.
oh i see
so i still dont buy it until someone posts full info :(
Firewings [CCG] at Expreview forum (Chinese version) has figured out the way to get SLI support for its Asus Maximus Formula motherboard based on Intel X38 chipset, with one NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT and one GeForce GTX 260 graphics card.
Is that a typo ? - Have not seen anything here or there that confirms that.
************************************************** *********
Nvidia says SLI available for all platforms according to fud?
It has been for years where is the news?
Just need to buy a little 295/9800gx2/7950gx2 - and there is your SLI.
To me it remains pure speculation, anyone can post whatever screenshot in here I never see any real scores nor screenshots ( don't refer to that SLI with 2 different GPU architectures )
I get the distinct feeling noone will ever get his hands on that patch it seems... at first all is glorious, so easy to do and finally it will be crushed again by the lawyers of Nvidia... noone will ever get it...
And no url what so ever.
Leeghoofd
Why lawyers? Enabling/disabling SLI/CF/whatever tech is not made by them, it's pure technical/software stuff. And if patch/mod available everywhere, nobody can sue, because who will you catch then? :)
And another thing which differs last screen from photoshops done hundred times ago is that now we have X58 chipsets, and just SLIA certificate and proper chipset ID's are needed to receive by drivers, as far as i understand. So will see.
Got binaries, will check it now on P965 chipset with 6600's, and post howto if everything works.
WinXP 32bit only ATM.
Little description for those who know what to do.
Hardcoded X58 chipset driver ForceWare version 190.62 (XP 32bit only ATM)
After driver unpack, put this file to C:\nvidia\displaydriver\190.62\english
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/nv4_mini.rar - 2.1MB
Then install as usual.
DSDT table must have valid SLIC X58 string.
Full detailed installation manual will follow after initial checks.
I confirm working SLI on illegal chipset Intel P965 with ForceWare 190.62, and injected ASUS Rampage III Extreme SLI Validation string into DSDT table.
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/SLI.png
ATM I have only pair of 6600LE here, but I think it will work with any cards supported by 190.62.
Will make detailed HOWTO this evening
What about X38/x48?
Should I keep hope?
Patch fools driver to think that we have X58 valid motherboard, regardless of real hardware. So, it almost 100% will work on any motherboard.
This will unleash a lot of performance; kudos man!
Huh? How is this "pure speculation?" (I was the one who patched the driver, BTW). It works on my machine (P45) and on TiN's (P965). The driver is posted in the forum (I think TiN hosted it, actually?). Go try it before you call BS on our screenshots.
Ugh. I hate how people are so quick to call others liars.
Where can we find it? perhaps you can link it one more time?
Good work TiN_EOF. Now just remain anonymous or stay somewhere where nvidia's clutches can't get a hold of you... heheheh
I'm gonna test it on the REX next week, keep you posted. Don't ever put the file up on your own webspace, kill the link asap, the file has been snatched and will spread by itself.... Lawyers invent whatever thye can do get quick access to the cash... and this means the 780i/790i (and the rumoured AM3 chipset) is totally obsolete if this thing works...
I never called you a liar...I just remain subjective, as we have seen this before, but never ever got a file nor link to try it... Also then it was with an older driver version and users with newer cards needed to update their driver... so no go.
My question is : Does that SLI -hack work with different GPU architectures ? do you get better numbers then ?
If this works many people will kiss ya feet. We will gain more game performance and new records will be broken (thinking especially of 3D01)
If you can keep the driver updated for newer Nvidia releases as they will try some sort of way of blocking it that would be fab... I'll try to collect some numbers by the end of this week...
For the Nvidia part : Consider yourself as a warned man, this thing will spread like wild fire and be very carefull to whom you talk or speak ! almost anything can be traced on the web...
Post 131
It'll work with any video card that 190.62 supports. Since this is the current driver, it should support all Nvidia cards. The only thing that was patched in the driver was the call that checks the motherboard chipset ID. I hardcoded it to be 8086/3400 (the X58 chipset). So long as you have a valid X58 SLIC in your ACPI DSDT tables, it'll work. Tomorrow I'm going to work on making the driver so no DSDT tables have to be modified. Gotta simplify things a bit.
It's working on the machine right next to me. I've ran 3dmark03, 3dmark06, and COD5 so far. Works like a champ. Check the techpowerup forums post for results of the 3dmark benches. It scales just like SLI should.
Yeah, I'm sure it will be a cat-and-mouse game. I was hoping for a more permanant fix, but the X58 SLIC string that the driver checks against is hard-coded and encrypted in nv4_mini.sys. The driver has to be modified for it to work.
So we need some kind of bios patch?
Any info how to insert that X58 string into AMI bios?
Take a look at this thread here -about post #400 -ignore the first lot of pages
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=60844
oily_17 is leading you in the right direction.
You dont need to actually patch or flash the BIOS, you just need to dump the ACPI DSDT, modify it, and then have windows use the modified DSDT.
I'm working on something that will allow this to work without modifying the DSDT. This should make things easier. Modifying the DSDT is annoying also, because some hardware changes will cause the OS to not boot (unless you clear the DSDT first).
Just finished testing own 6600LE's on P5B Deluxe motherboard (intel 965 chipset)

01 result is poor because of lowclock CPU and low GPU clock, but others just nice for such CPU/GPU clock difference, as for me.
Will continue tests, when I can get more powerful cards, now only have single 9800GX2 and 8800GS
So, It WORKS :D
So far we got SLI working NON-dependent of real motherboard chipset.
But I think GPU limitations, like unability of two different (for example 6600 + 8800 card, or GTX 285 + GTX 295) cards on SLI remain.
I´m going to put 2 GF 8800GTS G92 card on my HTPC with Asus P5E3 WS PRO, OS is Windows Vista X86.
Please tell me this can be done with Windows Vista/7 drivers. If so,' I'd be glad to test them with a pair of 8800GT's on my X48 running Win7 x64.
BRAVO!!!
This are amazing new man. Bring the P965,P35, P45, X38, X48 chipsets back to life
nice to see this getting done finally
well guys....this is a great news :D:D:D But I got 2 cuestions.......
1 - Where are the drivers???? I want to test the drivers on my Maximus Formula X38...
2 - This drivers can work with Windows 7 x64 ???
I want to test it with 2 8800GTS 512MB (G92) :D:D:D
PS: If this work, you will make me so so SOOO happy :p :p :D
ShArKo
Just go and read first post in this topic, if you don't want to real last pages.
1. Shared.
2. No, but i near future maybe yes.
TiN_EOF the drivers 190.62 are normal drivers ? I just download those drivers from the NV web, install and put that "patch" and it gotta work? (in Win XP 32 bits) ???
TiN_EOF may i start by saying that this is some very valuable work here, and raise my hat to you,
now on to my question, if you can add the patch in post 1, that must have the x58 slic, can you make one of these for AMD chipsets? would it even be possible at a hardware level?
and if so, could you do it? because there are a tone of guys like me out there, running AMD boards, that have Nvidia GPU's that would love a bit of Sli Action.
thanks
Yes, it's normal driver downloaded from NV. Just modified nv4_mini file to fool it thinking that we always have X58 chipset.
Full HOWTO will follow tomorrow. Already done in russian, have to translate :)
2 Moderator: Maybe it's better to move this thread to more suitable section? Don't know is it good to post and discuss all tech stuff in News :D
I got another cuestion :D jeje
Do you need the SLI bridge to enable the SLI ???? Or can work without the SLI bridge??
ok i dug out another card i have here (8500GT) and i am about to instal 32 bit XP on a spare partition,
i am going to follow the intructions and unpack the driver with winrar, and insert the said file, instal drivers, and see what happens.
and yes this is an AMD Cross-fire board, the M4A79-D to be exact, and i know it wont work, but hell god loves a tryer
i will report back my failure later :yepp:
soundood
You will fail, if just install modded driver without DSDT registry patching.
I'm preparing HOWTO article...
ShArKo
My 6600LE worked too without bridge
I wonder if this hack will allow us to have SLI on even AMD chipsets. Cause we all know we really don't want our Phenom IIs running on nv chipsets.
Sli works without SLI bridge, but the bridge performance increase is like 5% (10%) max, at least with 8800GTs.
Yes it works.
i can confirm a fail, without the DSDT registry hack, i will be here waiting on your how too, and also have an XP 32 bit image waiting to be tested on
although one thing i noticed was a command prompt window opening during instal (twice) of drivers.
jhaving a look at the DSDT reg entry at the moment, cant wait for your 'how to'
DeDaL tested mod under my guide, with his Gigabyte X48 motherboard and two GTX 260's, everything worked so far.
I think, he will post details.
EDIT:

AMD + SLI great news and many many many congrats to the programmer who finally made it true.
This might be a silly question but... will tri-sli work? I have a 9800GX2 and a 8800GT (G92) laying around. This would be sweet! =]
If so, would my PCP&C 750 watt supply handle the load?
Hi guys just wondering 2 things, first congratulation about the hack SLI enable guys really well done so:
1. I always preferd SLI over Xfire but I have a P5Q Deluxe cso i like how it Overclocks my CPU so i was wondering if the nv4_mini works on my board.
2. And if it does would i have to get an SLI bridge for my particular MoBo or Graphic Cards i have a xFx GTX 275 and a spare 9800 GT
my mobo only runs 8x xfire and the gtx 275 has to sli connection but my 9800 gt has one so i dont think ill be able to get an adapter to connect both?? right?...
How hard it is to make this Vista & Win7 compatible?
Hmm??? So the old X48 is the new X58?
NICE!!!
:)
Different ID video's would not work.
Mod just removes chipset limitation, it's not miracle yet to make everything work with everything.
So only SLI-configs which can be done on "true" NVIDIA chipsets or X58 are possible yet.
Autotranslate from google of my step-by-step guide:
http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=
will workout it this evening. Now I'm goint to bed, no sleep to 50+ hours.
1. Yes, it will work, no matter what motherboard. But you also need to edit DSDT tables. It's still necessary.Quote:

2. No, 275 + 9800GT don't work now.
Please, dear ALL, understand that different cards would not work, it's way much complex to make it working , than modding chipset limit things.
So only legit SLI configs are supported, 2-/3-/4- ways which are working on "official" SLI systems.
dude both cards support sli but if i get what you are say is right you mean that only the same series card will sli aka 2 9800 or 2 280 or 3 8800 basicly the same card?... cool am gonna give it a go with 2 9800 gt that i got like 10 9800gt cos i work at a pc shop lol anyway ill let you know what happens mate
thank you for your work and patience
by the way when i modify DSDT tables do i use the steps used for the gigabyte board of the P5B one? i have a P45 chip after editing and restarting is the i apply the (http://www.xdevs.com/sli/Forceware_X...062_SLImod.rar - 79 MB, Windows XP 32bit) patch right??
sleep well TIN, and thank you again for this, i have been waiting all night lol
i have a question TIN, i find the instruction a little vague, do i insert this code into here?, (pic below)
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k.../Image1-24.jpg
david, read the first post in this thread, you download 190.62 driver from nvidia, extract the file using WINrar (open winrar and point to nvidia driver)
once you have extracted this driver, insert this file,
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/nv4_mini.rar
into,
yourlocation\displaydriver\190.62\english
then run the driver as usual
reboot and it should give you SLI, fingers crossed
soundood
You shoud insert SLIC block into the end of _SB.PCI0 device block.
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/Forceware_X...062_SLImod.rar
here is already patched driver with included modified nv4_mini.sys.
davidkozat
For asus mobo you schould use ASUS X58 certificate.
Nice, still waiting for Vista & Win 7 versions.
SLI works already on UNmodded drivers (used Forceware 185.85 from nvidia.com, WHQL), Thanks to anatolymik, and his edited file Hal.dll, which change chipset ID on OS level to Intel X58. As stated, diag tools, like CPU-Z showing always northbridge id as Х58 :)
Edited DLL for Windows XP 32bit hosted , hal.dll - http://www.xdevs.com/sli/hal.dll
Overwrite original one in c:/windows/system32/, store backup of original if something go wrong.
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/halmod.png
I love that P5B Deluxe with X58 northbridge :D
ok TIN. im 100% on this at the moment, but still find it unclear,
do i insert this,

But your table with SLIC inserted corretly (as far as I see) is here:
http://www.xdevs.com/sli/soundood.dsl
thaxs TiN, i thought i was trying to make my ASUS look like a giga x58, i will load that file now and instal drivers to see what happens
You need to compile it, it's not binary which to load.
Please, read carefully:
Autotranslate from google of my step-by-step guide:
http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=
no i am following that guide to the letter, and now it wont compile, im getting an error !!!! can you try and compile it? to see what the prob is?
ill go back to trying myself, to see if it goes ok after a few trys
ey guys, nobody try this on a X38 board???
PS: Maybe you shoud organize the thread.......It may be cofused....
nah im still getting errors, even if the SLIC table isnt inderted and i just use the iasl to extract it, and then asl to compile i still get an error on line 3073 If (ECEN)
what you think TiN?
i tried your method TiN and it works

soundood
I'd wait for few days in your case, when we can get away from DSDT editing with mods.
TiN: You have any idea if this will work on a Z8PE-D12X(ASMB4-IKVM) serverboard? That would be cool..
Hi guys so i installed the modded driver with the nv4_mini and it will let me boot windows with 2 9800 GT on my P5Q Deluxe a crossfire which it did come with a Xfire bridge which i had to use a MSI Sli one lol GPU Z reports both of the cards and says sli dissable and i try to enable it on the Nvidia control panel but i couldnt find the option to enable it... it should be under the physic option right? well is not there..... i want to enable Sli do i need an Asus Sli Bridge??
yeah for some reason, it is not working, and think your suggestion is going to be the only way possible, thank you for your time in this so far.
i look forward to your mods, in the meantime, if you need a hand with making the how to, converting to english, then give me a shout in PM
No SLI bridge needed. You need to read up here: http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=
Do the DSDT mod then you will get SLI.
WheelMan
Mod is for ANY chipset, which have physical ability to use two+ videocards (slots). PM me your email or ICQ or skype, I will contact you and we will make mod, I'm interested in running SLI on your serversystem. Also , for today we have only Winxp 32bit mod, but are working on another os mods.
Have two news.
First bad: Seems like current system with Intel P55 DONT support SLI officially.
I tried to make SLI working with original nonmodded systems/drivers on ASUS Maximus III Formula (Intel P55) with last BIOS (DSDT SLIC certificate is present, for P55), with ES Xeon 3470 and pair of GF 6600LE. Tried in XP 32 бит and windows 7 32 бит, but no go.
Maybe it's temporary issue, coz LGA 1156 platform is really fresh still. Tried 190.62 WHQL driver.
Of course SLI works with our mods :)
Second news:
Tested and approved SLI modification for Windows vista/7 driver 190.62 for 32 bit systems! Method is almost the same, adding X58 SLIC into DSDT in registry using same iasl+asl, and overwrining NV system driver. Still some additional tricks needed, coz Vista/W7 systems less user friendly and we have to disable dumb checks.

So you have started to work with Win7?
Already done work :D
Windows XP 64bit left
HAL variant of mod for Win7 64bit / 32bit left
SLI automatic modification tool make left
We need software programmer for SLI autopatcher.
So TiN the hack drivers are working for Win 7 x64 ???? Just download the 190.62 driver from NV web, paste the nv.dll file and thats it?
