yeah my internet was slow for a few minutes or i would have got my edit in before your post.
gomeler it all does back to RRR in the end as far as i can tell.
and i hope worthy likes spam

well i wouldnt mind doing some punching....
but this crap cant be tolerated.
Could you please uncensor B P at least? Every G.Skill PI kit is censored because the product numbers are 4G:banana::banana:I ( 4GB.PI )...
Took all my Google power to come up with this.
kip - A hovel or run-down building in Ireland slang
If that is the case have you taken a look at your little rock lately? Besides Guinness, potatoes, and an excess of firecrotches, I don't know of anything useful that has come off that rock in the last century.
I'm running out to the door for some girl's birthday party, otherwise I'd look up some things to slam Ireland on. Sorry, I'm half-assing this bashful post
RRR is a kid with a big mouth behind his monitor, just ignore that kid.
One word to sum up that site: PATHETIC
Is sidewinder going to get censored as well?
what si wrong with Bananas ? I love them, especially when they do crazy stuff ;)
lol i'm quite impressed but how many so called "adults" can act like little junior high girls. quite entertaining, but i think this case crossed the line
anyways, mods can you please take off the censored B*P? this is the fault of only a few individuals, but the whole forum has to pay for it and most will not see this thread or know where it's coming from. those dancing bananas are funny and cute at first, but now it's just annoying. like how you mods said, it's the people, not the product. ok so vince was banned already, but B*P is the PRODUCT, so why censor it?
shazza, welcome to the club. While I've not notified any of the companies involved, I've had my own little quiet boycott going since Jan. of this year. I happened to mention that I had "personal issues" with one of the vendors in an older topic and it drew a lot more attention than I thought it would, I wound up answering something like 10 PM's on the matter. Some respectfully went on their way without a reply after I explained, others responded and said they could understand my point of view but did nothing, 2-3 decided to join me and 1 (yes 1) shot back a fiery PM that ended in "IGNORED", that 1 person was a "supposed friend" who is now banned from XS.
Hopefully you guys are being very careful when you're handing out bans to people who simply have an account over there... I don't like that one bit...
Obviously I'm not banned, but it could have easily happened given I've been a member there for over 6 months.
As far as Vincent goes, banning him demonstrates an acute cluelessness about how sponsorship and advertising often work unless there's something FAR bigger behind the scenes... Any company can advertise with anyone. That doesn't mean their reps are best buds with the admins of the site...
i dont want to start trouble, as i am discussing it with someone
But some would disagree. Many were banned, some having absolutely no correlation with the problem and are even good active members here
Vincent caused trouble?
I don't have any personal friends that I've met or that I engage with exclusively via this site, so I have little to no vested interest in such petty things as who got banned from where and why. It's all kinda ridiculous (and I don't care who started it).
But I really don't like seeing a good guy like Vincent banned unless there's some compelling reason for it. And to me his company being a paid sponsor of the site does NOT mean he's personally involved in any of this.
from what i can see all the trouble he cause was his logo on RRR's forum.
Well I suppose it's not my place to question how this site is run and why.
This whole thing seems a little melodramatic to me though, and clearly the ban on the words instead of quietly deleting posts and banning select members isn't helping anything because then you create threads like this.
/$0.02
Seriously? I'm being called out? Wow I had no idea I was that important
Now that I've had time to think over this stuff some more I say ignore them. So they think we're a bunch of idiots. Well we know who really has attitude issues so why not let them be and glory in their own self-importance
If members over there drop in here and cause trouble, ban said members. But other than that, leave them swim in their own mudbath.
Linus: Did you bother to read my post #71?
The people that were banned were because of hate posts aimed at this site so how would that effect you in any way?
As to Vincent, read the above. This had nothing to do with his company and their advertisements there but with the individual so please, stop the drama ok?
Not true, I made the list based on posts I saw there.
Hate post, name on list.. no hate post, no name on list.
That simple.
now.... how to remove these logos on my fittings, shall I post a tutorial when I figure it out?
Yes I did read it, and I'd love to know what a "hate post" is, but that's really nothing to do with the point I'm trying to make.
This is an overreaction. Think about it this way: It's like blocking "NCIX" because I posted something anti-XS on some random forum somewhere. It's ridiculous.
And if it had nothing to do with the company, then their trade name (including its punctuated form) wouldn't be blocked here.
clearly you haven't read the bigotry and hate that is posted on that forum, you would know clearly what a hate-post is.
EDIT: its one thing to be anti-XS, its another to be anti-american and anti-freedom by device of your words and actions, freedom of speech in america was not created so that people could be racist and spread hate.
I've had a chance to read through his posting history over there and I don't see anything unusual.
Unlike me, Saaya, and some of the other more "casual" company-affiliated people around here, Vincent is all business both on this site and on RRR.
Every one of his posts is an ETA, a new product, or a direct response to a question about him or his company's products.
Like I've said though, I MUST not know the whole story about Vincent, but even if it's something he personally did, I feel that blocking the name of the company he works for is like killing a mosquito with a nuclear warhead.
EDIT: Got Vincent on MSN right now and he seems as confused as I am as to why he's been banned. He's been a very positive contributor around here for a long time and you guys OWE him an explanation at the very least...
I may be a new member here and may not mean much coming from me, but this saddens me that XS would continue this drama by filtering out a company name just because they advertise on someone else's site.
I know they have hurt your pride/ego, but just let it go and move on.....XS banning company names just shows them that they have something on you. You are stooping to their level of drama.
I do hope everything gets sorted out in the end. Good luck.
I too would like a more detailed explanation as to why Vincent was banned and all this became an issue.
Based on what admins have said it seems like Vincent did something to upset them and it is some how related to RRR.
I will start to worry when there is no explanation and Mountain Mods and Sidewinders are censored.
Is Gary somehow being implicated in this  I'm not meaning to step on any toes, but personally I find this very hard to believe.
If Vincent in some way did something to upset XS (and I don't know if he did) then by all means he should be banned. But censoring his products' names? That's just silly. If this carries on, XS is just going to be regarded as the 'extreme overclocking site' where no-one can post an AMD stepping, the name of a petroleum company, model numbers for g.skill memory, etc.
For me, this event has done more to tarnish the reputation of XS than anything else. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe what's been done is justified. But if it is, why have poeple had to start a thread asking for an explanation? Why has the person responsible for the blocking the names not started a thread, straight away, saying what has gone on, why it will not be tolerated, and what reasonable action has been taken as a result?
If Vincent's wrongdoing is purely a personal one, then, IMHO, this is completely unjustified. If B*P as a company has done something to damage customers or another company, then even more reason for potential customers (ie. XS members) to be given a fair warning as to what is going on.
Just a reminder Cross Forum bashing IS a ban-able offense. As some already know I recently quit a job because of the behavior of the workers there, this is no different. Why should anyone have to put up with people who are unprofessional, hateful, and do nothing but attack others? To me this is just the sign of low class thugs.
Thats not true. There's now yet another post on RRR showing the desire to hack XS :shrug:
The "Suprise Show" section is gone. Thats where the hate was. Was removed very quickly yesterday... but was too late;) Theres nicky.82uk saying "shame we dont have any hackers to :banana::banana::banana: there site up for a few weeks even month or years i dont mine "
Any hate from the other day was just a lot of steam
U do recall that around 10 ppl woke up with a ban from XS. There wasnt exactly love going through the website lol
The hack thing was because recently the website was hacked and around 3 days of data was lost. Im not insinuating it was XS, but i wouldnt be surprised the person knew about computer hardware forums...
^exactly...
and if a admin can please contact me , maybe MM if you can?
NoNo again. It's a privately owned forum and the owner and admins do as they like. If anything ever bothers me enough about they way it operates I'm free to go elsewhere. I don't follow or obey anything.
If I do something for a reason, it's my reason and I owe nobody anything.
BTW, what's a bits power? :ROTF:
edit: I almost forgot. Speaking of being bothered, Charles, please take it easy with those wildcards when you do IP bans ok? :D
^
Yea, they make the most popular fittings for water cooling setups...
Really? I thought it was those new Ti drill bits:shrug:
Maybe I missed something when I read the explanations, but didn't the other forum promote posting a :banana::banana::banana: pic here and couple of it's members did just that? Didn't one of it's mods not only promoted a DDOS attack on XS but also gave instructions on how to do it? I am pretty sure both are against the law.
I get the whole "B*P" part since it scews up posts and it's just a product a lot of us use and I don't think that should have been censored, but as far as Vincent goes, I don't know the facts about that, but I do know him and Joel are close, I mean Joel brags about it and how he went to Taiwan for a show with them, so I know they are connected more than just advertising.
As far as people getting banned, this isn't an equal opportunity site, if you post detrimental statements on that specific site too encourage bad behavior, why would you care if you got banned from here? Does it really matter to you if you already don't like this site that you get banned from it? I have been banned from that site and all I did was disagree with Joel, so what does that say about their tactics? I have been called out by many of their members because of my various posts including my support for the Typhoon 3. Since I like it and it works for me I am somehow promoting it with false information. If Joel wanted to build that site to promote water cooling and the best practices, he wouldn't need to create 11 threads on why XS is screwed up. I doubt the guys over at overclock.net and hardforum.com agree with everything that is posted on XS, but they don't have dedicated threads for it and they don't promote attacks on this site.
Joel is a racist-antisemetic loser who spews hate everywhere he goes.
I was proudly enough to the be the first banned member of his site :D
The ultimate hypocrisy is where an individual complains about freedom of speech, but will get mad and troll your threads if your opinion differs from him.
Again, the individual has never actually built a watercooling system.
It's only the weak that follow this moron..
I really like Gary from sidewinders, so I'm hoping he has enough common sense to remove his affiliation from Joel's site.
I move to reinstate bits power into the XS dictionary along with the word kcuf spelled backwards. Both have great usages like ":banana::banana::banana: this :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana::banana::banana: brouhaha"
Censoring B*P and its derivatives of it hopefully will receive reconsideration. Will be a real pain in the butt not only for members of the forum posting but for those that are reading the posts also.
I'm sure there is more to Vincent's involvement then what we know. But don't condemn him because of what Joel "brags" about. This comes from first-hand knowledge. I know a review site owner that is nothing more then a liar and a thief. He openly brags about his input on product design (motherboards and other components). The truth is he has no input at all.
When he first started the site he stole advertising banners from other sites to make it look like he had manufacturer sponsorship. Heck, if you click on one of the banners it took you back to the site it was copied from.
When his forum was first set up there was at least two manufacturer specific subsections where he claimed he was the official support for that part of the world. The sections were removed when the manufacturers were alerted to this.
It's unbelievable what an unbalanced person will say or write. So I guess what I'm try to say don't automatically see one person as guilty just because of some type of association with another.
it all seems a little petty tbh
the guy on the other site obviously has a few issues
let him rant on the internet
as for removing b p, whatever - its not like its intel or anything
he has opened that thread back up and i have pictures of which i will send to his sponsors.
I did not agree with the decision of banning and censoring the vendor names; however, it was made or agreed by the head of this site. Fine. As long as it is his site. As for the banned members, I know there is still a lack of information on this. I am just like you and everyone expecting some explanation, but I can assure you there is a good reason to do so. If not, Charles would never accept it.
Censoring the vendor names does kill me in the Liquid Cooling section, but whatever. I will get moving on.
Perhaps it's you who doesn't get it? It's not my site or yours. Nobody owes either of us anything including explanations or justifications.
That's just it, I'm not following anything. I can choose to participate or not and read or not. Any decisions made here are at the discretion of the owner and anytime I don't like something I can choose to not patronize the site. It's all quite simple really.
Doesn't matter what a decision is or who made it, the principle is the same. : rolleyes : back at you :p:
I find your perceived need quite amusing but I think you might want to take a look at your idea of 'need'. It doesn't seem healthy.
Although you are speculating, you are probably right. But once again the reason is not important or relevant. It just is.
It's only seems complicated to you because you are making it that way. As I said it's quite simple. And again you may want to reevaluate what needs really are.
I am quite fortunate that I'm an individual then and don't go with anything. ;)
Wow, RRR was already annyoing when he posted all his ftw whatever posts in the watercooling section, but what happens over there.. I've got myself an account on his forums just to see what the fuss actually is about. I think he seriously has some issues, if anyone doesn't understand the concept of hate posts, go there, read for yourself. The choice of words alone is ridiculous, let alone the content.
As for the mass bans, some people seem to be wondering what they did wrong recently. Did MM & Co skim through the whole filth over there to see whoever on anyday posted something indecent concerning XS? That just had to be some seriously annoying work.
I read through this thread and have read posts that made much sense and other posts that made me believe some people are just clueless.
To one it is a matter of principle and to another a matter of pride. I am of the belief it is better to raise ones standards than to lower one morals. Read into it what you will ...
To have read the post in question and not find anything "unusual" to warrant bannings I find confusing .
To champion for a forum that is seeking to recruit people to wreck havoc on another forum and then feel it strange that forum might have been hacked I actually find comical. :ROTF:
My suggestion to Xs... move on. There are countless objectionable sites on this internet thingie, they are only relevent if you frequent them.
Lil Red Riding Hood and his band of Dandy Lions are only as relevant as you make them to be.
vince from :banana: has a 2 MB email coming his way.
I need to talk to bits and see what kind of resolution we can come up with.
Sad to see Vincents posts among the garbage and that is what has led to this decision.
I vote for unfiltering bits power... I mean seriously, so many people here have the hardware. Hard to filter that out
At the very least unfilter B P - that throws dancing bananas in a bunch of words.
I just want to throw one thing out here: Gary of Sidewinder Computers is NOT officially a sponsor of that site and he has not given his logo to them expressly, I spoke with him about this and what he said to me was a very confused sounding "I have no idea why he puts that logo up there" <--- its just a product of the infatuation rr has with that store
I'm not sure where this is going at, but regardless of what's going on,
for those new members who are interested in WC etc, they would be yet again confused as to the various filtering etc, esp when it comes to crucial words as such.
Sure, there might be issues going on with the various individuals involved etc, but unless XS forum is a forum that caters only to a select community, it might be better to adopt a different approach that does not affect a majority of members.
I was left wondering where did those bananas come from, until a fellow member suggest coming here to find out.
I do hope those bananas get sorted out or so and with regards to those bannings, I'm sure those individuals involved have their reasons.
:)
Fine censor "Bits Power" but for christs sake what's up with censoring :banana: , no i meen "B*P" ? "B*P" can probably meen a tons of things like an AMD stepping for example -.-
Why not censor OMFG - Oh My :banana::banana::banana:ing God, or WTF - What The :banana::banana::banana: while we're at it those are short for someting
Censoring 2 letters is just stupid, that's not meent to be an attack to any of the staff on XS but really - it is.
That set my mind at ease, got a tad worried seeing that logo up there. Its a little hard to take RR / RRR.com seriously when 50%+ of his posts are personal attacks or obscenities, swearing doesnt get a point across, it pretty much does the opposite.
I do have to agree that banning b.p and :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana::banana::banana:, is a little overboard, whats the harm if someone reads the name, afaik 90% of the compression fittings people use here are b.p. This is especially strange when aquatuning isnt banned.
I might not post a lot, i tend to be more of a lurker, but I've been a member of these forums for quite a while, but that's just my 2c...
I'd like to see all the bitspOwer related censoring lifted as well.
I changed the settings on it so that "BPMW" and "webpage" and stuff like that will work, though ":banana:" is still censored.
Thanks to Fugger for posting that he's going to look into it with Bits.
For my little part, I'm lifting my personal protest against the vendors supporting the site :p:. I've received some responses that indicate they are not part of the hate campaign, and will look into the situation. That's all I can ask. edit: @ SNiiPE - I think we have to take everything with a grain of salt at this point.
I hope that we don't fight amongst ourselves here. As others have said, let's take the high road. I'm glad we've had this thread to air this issue, but hope that we can move on soon.
It would be nice if those vendors that haven't been banned that are involved, come forward and publicly voice their thoughts and opinions. I for one, would like to know. If they condemn the actions of the other site and seem sincere IMO, I may very well lift may protest as well.
Exactly... I was wondering the same exact thing when I read it.
I certainly support the banning of members that contributed to attacking others.
They go on there and spew vile material and then come on here and chat like everything is okay.
In business we call those smiling knives..
Reading this and their thread I believe both sites are to blame for various things happening and its just esculated... and I think its a bit lame tbh. Take it how you like but meh.
honestly, if any enthusiast vendor thinks that they can deal with bad press from XS, they are a little naive, do a quick google search for anything overclocking / watercooling related and chances are there will be an XS link on the first page. I didn't even know there was a RRR.com, though i guess it kinda explains andyc's absence lately...
I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with Gary in the past but if he truly is supporting that RRR.com site (i'm still reading that abortion of a thread) then I would honestly feel better giving my money to someone that doesn't openly support petty arguments. There was a post about how the LC section was getting out of hand a while back, and all of a sudden the section went back to being mostly civil, it would make my day if that was related to the whole RRR fiasco.
I second waterlogged (wow bro, they really dont like you over there, I'm surprised they haven't burned a virtual effigy of you yet), it would be better if the vendors themselves came out and made a statement.
Vincent unbanned, I would like to hear something positive to remove the filter.
It is sad that is has come this far, my apologies to everyone for this inconvenience.
I read there (not the garbage...just the LC or other stuff) and can say that Vincent (B*P) and Gary say nothing against XS.
One time Vincent posted about someone contradicting him that nvidia didn't change the 285 reference design but that was it.
Otherwise they are there to do what they do, business
Edit: Ty fugger
thanks fugger
No, we are asking vendors to tell us the truth about whether they support Racism, Bigotry and Hatred.
because if they do support it then they better be ready to back up their positions and stand by their support of such awful things, and if they dont they need to remove affiliation from that site.
because Red likes gary and paid him to put his logo and a link to his website, Gary needs to give an explanation?!?
Ok...here it is....its business is it that hard?
Ppl build watercooling rigs, they need parts, they click sidewinders and there they go
They don't affiliate with the threads. They answer questions and post new information....business
I'm glad to see management step in here.
Like everyone else, I have NO problem with cutting away a cancer from the body, an organization, an internet forum, etc.
It's when you start chopping off an arm at the shoulder to remove a fingernail cancer (hypothetical situation) that you run into trouble.
To the people here who seem to shrug and say "who cares, it's not our site": XS is what it is because of the members. If the members don't like things about the way it's run, it's far better that they speak up to make things change than if they just stop coming. Then we'd see one of the best enthusiast sites on the net get reduced to the level of EOC. No one wants that.
I don't need an explanation, but I did need to know that someone addressed Vincent's concerns directly. It makes me very happy to see Fugger taking steps to ensure that he gets fair treatment in this matter. Maybe no one "owed" Vincent anything in terms of legal obligation, but he's been a positive influence and he was thrown out with the rest of the garbage. If you understand the first thing about relationship management, you understand that he is owed an explanation.
How juvenile and junior high can you get.
Well, guess I am next on the ban list. What is going on with this place lately?
As I see it, if your banner is on a site, it's there because you paid for it to be there. It's also there because you have no problem being associated with that site. I prefer dealing with ppl of moral character (and I think the majority of XS does as well), what is being done there is far from it. If the business's there are innocent bystanders, it would be in their best interests to come forward and say something.
Linus, if i may, i'd like to ask you a question... from one business owner to another...
would you go in the public and mention that you are a member of such and such forum or does it, in the back of your mind... concern you of the negative repercussions of being "affiliated" with a certain environment?
i've nothing bad to say about those folks... of course, i have my opinions.. but i do not feel that this is the right place to say them... nor have anyone given me cause to say it out in the open... but i have to admit... certain actions is of concern... especially if i am a business owner...
we live in the ages where we have to be careful of who we take photos with... it's ridiculous... but i guess all the sexual orientation comments bother me... since i do have many friends who happen to be gay... and in the fashion industry... i work with many of them...
just like to know your thoughts... and other vendors as well...
sometimes, "membership" and "affiliation" is widely misconceived as "sponsorship"...
Thats fine its your choice.
I dont believe it is the job of an internet forum to decide which business is good or bad based on where they advertise but on their service.
This nothing more than forum flame war, no need to be dragging manufacturers and stores into it.
I'm no business owner. I'm a peon relatively speaking, but you're welcome to my opinion nonetheless.
You ABSOLUTELY have to be careful who you associate with. We have to be careful whose advertising we run on our site, whose site you advertise with, who you're seen eating a friendly dinner with, etc.
But that does not mean that a company association with someone automatically reflects on individuals within the company, or even the company itself.
From :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana::banana::banana:'s perspective (how many of them do you think speak fluent, perfect English?) they have their banner on an enthusiast water cooling site. They don't read the OT section, and likely don't bother with the subtleties of the English insults that get thrown around. Remember that without proper context it's VERY hard to understand profanities in another language. Here are some examples:
French: One of their harshest swear words "tabernacle" is not even filtered here because it's meaningless to english speakers. It's just a churchy word.
Chinese: One of their swear words means something along the lines of "giant sea turtle"
English: The word that is probably upsetting everyone means "bundle of sticks or twigs" if you aren't aware of all the negative connotations that go along with it.
I'm 100% open to anyone who asks me about my feelings on equal treatment to all individuals regardless of race, gender, and sexual preference, and I do not in any way condone the mistreatment of these people, but you need to understand that a site sponsorship is not always between "best buddies who share every worldview".
And frankly, what business is it of :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana::banana::banana:'s what some members post on there. They have awesome fittings and blocks to design. No time to mess around casually reading forums.
EDIT: I guess I'm yet another example of someone who is a member there and had no idea what goes on with that forum. I registered at the behest of someone who asked me to about 6 months ago, I posted once, and I haven't signed back in. My account is active, but that doesn't mean I'm "associating" with anyone. And so what if I was. I realize that I also wasn't banned, but I just wanted to make sure Vincent got a fair shake. I'd hope someone would have stuck up for me if I'd been banned....
but its isnt in the OT section its in the water cooling section
Normally I would agree that it's business. This goes a bit further though. Advertising dollars that are being spent is helping finance these incoherent ramblings of an idiot and his sheep. Not only are some of them slanderous and derogatory but appear to also be of a legally criminal nature. At this point the supporting companies need to be asking themselves where the line is drawn to maximize profits.
Also the 3 companies whose banners are displayed so prominently need to be looking further then the present. It's a pretty sure thing that when time comes to part the business relationship the same type of threads will appear about them. There is nobody that can put in words what we have read and it be a one time thing. Anybody that crosses that invisible line will undoubtedly receive the same type of treatment. From a business standpoint it would be best to sever ties now rather then later.
Ok, I had gone into RRTech a week ago or so when someone posted a link to it and was disgusted with what I saw. I will not be going back. The only thing i wish to know was if B P was directly asscoiated with anything, or was it just Vincent. If so, all info should be sent to B P and allow them to deal with Vincent internally as they see fit. If B P as a company was directly linked to the stupidity, than I can see a reason for the B P ban. I would also like to know as it will influence any further purchases I make.
Also I saw a mention about SideWinders. Is Gary directly involved in any of that, or is he just purchasing ad space on that site? Information would be nice, so that we, as consumers, can make an informed decision on who to do business with.
