Hi Laine ... my comment about renders vs reality wasn't directed at you, in particularly. Just having some fun. I really enjoy your renders - and your REAL PCs ;)
Thanks, Laine. I'm going through the TurboCAD tutorial now.. looks like it has a lot of the same features as what you're showing. :)
Just testing if the blocks would fit, they did.

Still looking for a 680i/780i "Mosfet part 1" water block.
Blocks look great
Agreed, thanks to Eddy@EK and Tom@Chilled. ;)

Not the best of photos, but it's something.
The sleeved tubing is going to be in the lower compartment, I'm going for plain white in the upper.
I made some more holes in the tray, making mounting easier.
Going to redesign them later on.
That's all for now!
Looks really good. Are you going to be using any green to compliment part of the mobo?
Hey Laine. :)
I'm really digging the minimal, almost discreet look of those blocks on that board.
Enjoying the progress Mate, keep up the good work!
I'd be interested in this solution or any other suggestions anyone may have of replacing or "covering up" the PCI-E colored slots. I have red on my Flaming Blade which will clash with the color scheme I have going. Really don't want to replace the board just for PCI-E covers/slots.
It would have to be neat in appearance (not electrical tape or anything of the sort.)
Great work! I'm not a fan of plexy or clear stuff, but i can't wait to see how this turns out with water in.
Are you going to use any kind of dye /additive in the water?
Thanks mate, means a lot coming from you!
You could just make a rectangular box without the bottom piece and spray paint it. I'm going to try a few designs, I'll post the drawings on here if there's interest. ;)
I was going to use Feser One UV/Blue but I'm leaning towards simple destilled water and modifying the EK 250 so that it can hold a killcoil instead of the "anti-cyclone".
Would look cool with solid tubing and some blue splashes of blue dye on the blocks though.
Here is some pics of the blocks in daylight, nothing special.
Still not sure about which tubing I'm going to use on the upper respectively lower compartment.

Don't worry about the mounts, I just want to know where I have my parts. ;)
Looking great :) And almost done aside from the mods you have left
That's one way looking at it, the other one would be that this project is barely started. ;)
And some news;
After some discussion with my dad, we came to the conclusion that the GPU should be part of the liquid bling.
One more block added to the looooong list, haha!
looks really good keep it up
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
I think I'll be going with the white tubing in the upper compartment, bet it'll go nice with 45's.

Sorry about the boring pics, I'll try to set up some kind of studio tonight. :)
Awesome work Laine and hello from Sweden! :)
Love the look so far! Keep up the good work!
Glad to see you'll have the GPU on water as well - nice progress so far, Laine!
Hi laine !
I love your conception of this case !
Where did you find theses case feets ?
Thanks all! ;)
Yeah, it wouldn't be properly "balanced" without going with a GPU-FC.
I found 'em at Indomo.se, I think they are Silverstone replicas so you should be able to find similar ones right about anywhere.
Yes they are, I picked them up at Inet.se.
I removed the shield with acetone and then coated them in white.
The inspiration came from Tremeloes' LiLi A01, so I would like to add an additional thanks to him!
Small update, I scrapped the idea about a custom made HDD-rack for now, so I got some Scythe Himuro's that I will mount in a very similar way.
Of course vertically as it was originally planned.
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/8849/79707431.jpg
Currently two of them are used in my beater Antec.

Hey Laine, was waiting for updates to crystal clear, keep em comming :)
The mounts looks really nice!
O.O how many projects are there in this thread @.@ good luck on making crystal clear awesome
:) Can't wait to see some pictures (or renders) of how you are going to mount the HDDs. How many HDDs you putting in there?
Can you send me a pm on how you painted the fans or to a guide.. my new 180mm silverstones are white and I need them black!
Yes, we need more pictures :)
The renders as requested by dreamaxx.
I hope you like 'em because the Himuro was a pain to model, haha!

Now I want to redo the res-mount, getting tired of it. :shakes:
Thanks! :)
One main project and some sneakpeaks of two others. ;)
I'm planning on having 2 3,5" HDD's, hopefully I'll get a nice deal on an SSD some day. :shakes:
I'm not really sure what you mean, I haven't painted any fans in this log.
I once painted a Fractal Design 92mm black but it started to make wierd noises, haha!
You can separate some fans at the bearing though, but it's still a huge risk upsetting the balance. :)
The closest I've come to painting a fan recently is this guard.
http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/2291/21004976.jpg
I'll try to put up some kind of studio soon.
And as usual, feel free to suggest changes and come up with ideas.
You guys are the biggest resource I could possibly get my hands on, thank you!
Some pics from the photo session as promised! :)
Sorry about the GPU and the lack of other parts.

Theese pictures are beautiful!!!
Btw, the last one was like... creme de la creme :D
Looks great Laine!
I really like your dramatic lighting. :)
Finally got my second Himuro for the LiLi, mounting is just temporary.
Next up is redoing the reservoir mounts, ideas are welcome.

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8089/40812624.jpg
The reflection is made by using a piece of clear acrylic, for those of you wondering.
Thanks, I'm trying to learn different techniques and these builds are all I have to use at the moment. ;)
Thanks, I'm looking into buying a kit with a Vivitar 285hv soon.
Those Himuro are just 100% awesomeness!
Think the old mount looked good. If you are going to place the res in front of the Himuro, try to make it so the res + mount wont obscure the view of the Himuro :)
Maybe you can get some white light with led's or something close to the Himuro's so the Himuro ribs (heat sink) will stand out if you know what i mean. Experiment a bit, might look bad or might look really cool.
Great!
How did you attached those Himuro to the case?
By the way, gorgeus building.
Very nice job.
Nice and clean
great!
those two himuros are awesome in that position. how will they be attached to the case?
White tubing never gets old=) Nice job
Love your rad placement, unique and definitely looks great.
The vertical HDD's look amazing as well.
Could you show us some photos from the place where you take those beautiful pictures? I really love the black background on the photos:up:
Nice Mainboard btw, have got the same:D
beautiful work! congratulations
Really like your photography skills Laine and your case is comming along nicely.
I first saw the photo of your avatar in the cable sleeving guide.
I clicked on your work log thinking I had been missing out on an excellent air coold rig and instead,
I have found that you have started a new project and you have jumped to WC, which I do feel is the right way to go.
However I do still really like the photo in your avatar.
Keep up the excellent work.
Yeah I'm planning to spend quite a lot of time on getting a near perfect setup for the lights.
As for the reservoir I still haven't come up with any good ideas.
Thank you! :)
I just used the mounts that came with them, really unstable but it was just to see where I was heading.
I'm going to build a custom mount for them later on.
Thanks for your support!
By a piece of acrylic, there are several CAD-renders on previous pages if I recall correctly. :)
Still trying to work out if I'm going to use white/sleeved black or transparent/ sleeved black, and if so, what colour of coolant to use.
I'll do that as soon as possible, until then I'll try to describe it.
It's simply a plain black desk with a piece of acrylic on top to enhance the reflections.
The background is a black bed cover mounted on the wall, and the lights are a couple of desk lamps.
Thank you!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...09#post4069409
I think that's what you're looking for.
I've got a worklog for it too, but it's completely in swedish.
And sorry about the lack of updates everyone, but I'm not seeing the point in telling you through pictures that I've bought new fittings and some more tubing.
Hopefully I'll get the project roling again soon, but at the moment Iäve got three other cases I'm working on. :shakes:
Nice, Laine! As usual, great renders, great real life, and great photos! Those Himuros are sweet.
Laine have you used the Scythe Himuro Hard Drive Cooler before?
If so how good where that at cooling and silencing the noise from the hard drives?
Thanks for the kind words, shazza, really makes me want to continue on!
It's been in every day use since I got them.
Besides the looks, they're not really that great.
Some what higher temps but not alot of noice absorbation, might be the case though! (LiLi A05)
Sorry about the REALLY slow progress, and I've yet to order the major parts of the watercooling.
My main rig had a major melt down so I had to get some 1600mhz dominators and a proper SSD, and being on a students budget it was quite a blow.
Anyways, here are some new pics, still experimenting with the photography.

I'm planning on getting a 120.1 Feser radiator and the last piece of the puzzle that is the motherboard cooling soon.
After that it's a total tear down and I'm going to rebuild the lower compartment.
Again, really sorry about the slooow build progress.
And the mandatory 3d-update.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/6255/12sidepanel.jpg
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/4512/13sidepanel.jpg
I'm not really sure but this could very well be the final side panel design, it pretty much shows of what I want it to show.
I wouldn't apologise about the slow progress, we can wait, it's the quality of the end product that counts, or at least for me.
Looking good Laine.
looks awesome Laine.
I think it's looking great so far! I can't wait to see how you solve the wiring issues behind the mobo (I had a hell of a time there).
Looks like it may get tight if you try and get a pump+ 120,1 in the bottom next to that dualie. But your craftsmanship is fantastic so I have a sneaky suspicion you'll solve it!
Keep it coming, and thanks for sharing.
Very interesting design for that size of case. I know, I put water in the same box. :p:
Very nice work though!
You got a point, but 3 months between real updates isn't acceptable or respectful for the viewers, imo. :shakes:
Thank you, ToX! :)
Hopefully, I can route most of the wires one by one under the midplate, and keep wires running over the motherboard tray to a minimum, but I don't know yet.
Yeah, I made some renders to show how tight it is, if I remember correctly it's about 2mm space from the radiator to the front of the case, and about 7mm between the radiators.
And thank you for following the project!
I was going for a some what original look at first, but I sat down at the drawing board and relized that's not going to happen.
Thanks!
And I finally found a external rendering engine that would work with ACAD.
Thanks to Metric for introducing me to Rhino and making a nice guide.
I have absolutely no control over the software what so ever since I don't have a clue what I'm doing, managed to get these renders from it though.
Here you can see, pretty much, how everything will come together.
I call the level of tightness "förjävla överdrivet trångt", but I won't translate that, haha.

Sorry about the poor quality, I messed up the settings.
Awesome :D
hej Laine - Could you redo those renders, or change the black items to another color, it's impossible to see what you're planning. Thanks!
From your renders, the blue coolant looks really good.
Looks like it wil be a tight fit, I hope either I am wrong or you have small hands.
Keep up the good work there Laine
Oh my god, beautiful.
Lets own the kukare on swec naooo : D

The black and white photos are very nice. Very classy. :)
As I've said, I'm a huge fan of your work. It's rare that I run across builds where each step is so carefully planned with so much attention to detail. Something I can truly appreciate. Keep it going.
Thanks man, I can't really express how much this means to me, but I'll reply with a simple "thanks".
I probably don't need to say that I'm a big fan of your work too, who isn't?
Another update, I decided to try something new for once, so I ordered some new radiators.

It's a step down from the Feser ones but it allows me to run the 120.1 with a fan.
Ugh. Your LianLi builds make me want my old case back. AH! :)
Looks good Laine.
Are you able to lift that 120.1 up just a bit.
As it looks likethe air flow is blocked a bit by the other rad.
I am not sure but from what I can make out there seams to be some room above it?
Man the skills involved in this build(and photography) is amazing:up:
Can't say it any better!!
BTW just came across this thread so have a question that goes back to your plex parts. Would like to know the what and how of the cutting and how you've managed to "polish" the cut lines? I'm a big fan of lexan and would like to do few things with but have never been happy with results. Seems to the only way to really do it right is with a milling machine or laser.
Also argee with your statement about the window "showing what you want to show". What else is needed in a window!
I'm still keeping track of this, loving it :)
those EK rads look a little thin, is there a big difference between them and the thermochills? I'll need a couple of 120.2's in the future, when I finally get settled into my pappaledighet :)
There's definitely a big difference. Although the EK rads look pretty good, they perform a bit worse than the Swiftech MCR, which should give you an idea of their performance. So tbh, I'd recommend going with the Thermochill or the MCR if you're looking for bang for buck.
Laine, your photography has such a unique and interesting quality to it. Your use of DOF and lighting technique creates a warm result that really makes the subject matter and ultimately the images, very compelling.
Keep up the great work my friend. :)
Laine, any chance of getting a closer look of how you mounted the himuros?
stunning work as always.
Haha, Lian Li's are always nice to have around.
Yeah, it will be/is raised up a good 3cm to ensure a nice air flow. :)
Thanks man!
It's just some basic dremel work, it you want really clear cuts you can use a blowtorch, it will remove alot of cloudiness.
The only other tip I have is to be steady on the hand and letting the dremel do the cutting in it's own pace.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah the EK's are out, they are really nice but too thin for this build.
I've got a nice new home for them though. :D
Pappaledighet is a underbar grej, I hope you'll have tid för ett nytt projekt very snart!
Yeah, I'm going for some nicer rads in the future.
Thanks man, to hear this from you is a truly great thing.
I just used the mounts for 5,25 and basically piled them on each other, since I havn't made a mount yet.
I'm both a bit sad and happy to inform you that this project is put on ice for now.
I will be back soon, and I promise you a build with more of everything, I'm making this into a monster among HTPC's.
I want to thank everybdy for participating in this build with our suggestions and comments, it means alot.
Wonderful build so far Laine. I'm really liking the prominant black & white theme you're running with - very sleek.
Photography is outstanding as well, great creative use of lighting and depth-of-field
Edit: Sorry to here about the build being put on ice. Best wishes for your future projects :)
Sub'd for epicness.
There's always...there's always...::sniff::...hope!
I don't know why people always make things up, but this will finish.
Just not now, I'll rebuild this from scratch using my original ideas when my other builds are finished as stated above.
This is so that I can focus completely on this build and trying to make it as perfect as I possibly can. :)
