How many core are you currently running?
Printable View
i7-860, i3-530, 754, p8200 lappy (part-time, part-throttle on the lappy)
So, 15 if you count HT and the lappy.
Got another i3-530 and a Giga H55-ud2 in the cupboard but no ps or case for it atm.
RMA Mushkin should be back Tuesday.
That would give me 4 more.
Hmmm.
I noticed I finally reached top 100 in RAC yesterday. :bounces:
It's like trying to race with too many karts on the track right now... bumpin and rubbin... :fight:
RAC over 2500 would have got you to your goal two weeks ago. I bet you'll need well over 4000 by the end of the week to make top 100. :D
Im running:
920 O/C to 3.6 8cores
QX9650 O/C to 3.6 4cores
Q6600 2.4 4cores
E8400 3.0 2cores
E7400 2.66 2cores
E6400 2.1? 2cores
P4 2.4 1core
That's 23 cores, hopefully that will get me to the top 100 someday.
Was running a dual core imac but had over heating issues.
I have two laptops but I'm afraid to run those balls out, to much of my business is on those, cant afford to melt them.
Holy crap Weevil, are those all running at your house? No wonder why we are fighting back and forth, I am running:
i7 920 @4.5
i7 920 @4.2
Q9550 @4.0
And my bonus room is like a sauna even with a dedicated ac unit :(
Here's the work log for the i3, MM.
Note that I didn't have it cranked until Sierra dropped the flag the other day.
Looks like it may be good for 12K or so.
Have a better idea after it runs flat out for the week.
It's 2 notches undervolted @ 167 bclck so 3.5ish. Stock cooler in an htpc case.
Those were my initial settings (random guess on my part) and they worked right out of the box so I left it.
Haven't fiddled with it at all to see how much more gas it may have in the tank.
The 920's really crank out the work units, wish I had a couple more of those. The office does get hot if i don't leave the air on.
You're doing great for 3 rigs.
Good one, xeno.
I suspect you are right about the 4K+.
Lot's of dormant hardware coming on line.
I'll be going backwards soon if I don't pick up the pace.
Yowza!
Same situation for me on the lappys-can't burn those down.
My issue going forward will be power costs.
The Bay Area has the most ridiculous electrical rates I've ever seen.
Our PP&L bill is already routinely over $300/month.
This is over double what we were paying when we lived in Alaska.
I'd be interested in a discussion with you on that one of these days, Weevil if you're amenable.
Perhaps I'll start another thread or pm you when I have some more free time.
I would very much like to see a thread on solar panels, I think the WCG area is a perfect place as we are already trying to save the world :)
If power wasn't a concern I could get another stand alone ac unit and a few more 920's
Me too, priced out solar in 2007-2008 to generate 3000KW/H/Month and say $80,000.00 in parts alone with a 26 year payback and cringed.
I just check the ROI on Solar using this and the "break even" point was in 22 years. It seems stupid until the panels come down in price.
Will do. Thanks, Weevil.
Well, theoretically, one would reasonably expect to reap a monthly benefit now and then recover some of the initial investment upon sale of the residence.
Unfortunately, acting on this assumption in today's world, and particularly with regard to Bay Area real estate, is quite likely to result in getting ones :banana::banana: bored out to the approximate circumference of a refrigerator.
Still worth looking into though. :p:
So it looks like I'm solidly in at #63 for RAC points. :)
Here's what I got running
Desktop:
i7 920 @ 4.2Ghz (Main water cooled rig)
PDC E2200 @ 2.93Ghz (WHS)
Laptops:
C2D P8600 @ 2.4Ghz (Main work lappy)
C2D T7500 @ 2.2Ghz (spare laptop)
C2D T7200 @ 2Ghz (spare laptop)
C2D T7100 @ 1.8Ghz (spare laptop)
C2D T7100 @ 1.8Ghz (spare laptop)
PDC e???? @ 1.??Ghz (Friends laptop that doesn't run much)
Looks like most of my power comes from laptops. :)
*edit* anyone know how to fix my sig? No stats show up anymore...
Wooo top 100. #80 now and counting (that RAC is getting higher everyday). Feels warm and fuzzy. Oh warm may be because of that beast crunching 24/24..
2 dual xeons E5520 16 threads ON
Q9550 4 threads ON
Q6600 4 threads ON
Laptop dual core 2 threads ON
Intel P4 3,73GHz EE HT 2 threads pending (windows installation to be ON)
total 26 threads fro Griding :)
Got the wife an ipad today so she will leave her main rig alone to crunch:)
Now I need to find a WCG app for it
Oh it's on, it's so on. Now I'm gonna have to talk my brother into getting his 4 rigs into my grid.
Is the img/table on front page Automatically updated?
(<- noob!)
holy crap, ddtung hasn't crunched [for real] in well over a year now? and he's got almost 3x the points of the 2nd highest guy?!?!?
that's absurd... i mean i know he had like 55 quads or something ridiculous, and all of them were OC'd... but DAMN
On another note, I finally made my way into the Team's Top10 standings by total credit. All I had to do was roll over Jaco :wasntme: :sofa:
Another personal goal down, next would be 100 million WCG.. and after that, match dak's output (half a million/d).
Next up is our dear captain, sorry sierra_bound! All I wanted was to get into the Top10, but hey, I'll take 9th place as well :D
I have a question about the table on the first page, .... or perhaps not a question but a request of sorts.. is there some way the data can be presented in a real table (you know, text like) so it can be searched easily to find stuff?
As it is, I think it's a graphic of some kind... which of course makes it really hard to find things in using a search.
All of the team data is available both on the WCG site (use the My Team page) as well as sites like BoincStats.
My favorite place for BOINC points: http://boincstats.com/stats/user_sta...g&st=0&ti=8674
My favorite place for WCG points: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/te...rdsPerPage=250
My favorite place for RAC (and points too): http://www.allprojectstats.com/top.p...=4&teamid=8674
Wow wasn't even paying attention to my RAC and now find out I'm in 56th place, and #402 on points!
1000,000+ WCG points today, which was my first goal.
Not too shabby for the short time I've been crunching. Now if only my wing men can help to clean up all those pages of pages of pending results, is it normal to have a constant 6+ pages of pending results?
Thanks for the invite Movieman! Sorry to knock you out of the top 100 on RAC, but hey your the one that invited me to this party :)
It's pretty cool being able to crunch for worthy causes and be able to use my computers just like I would normally (for the most part) :) Just goes to show how much of our computing power is wasted!
i7-920
i7-860
E8400
and my little Dell XPS 1340 lappy?
John
Yeah mm is killin it at #9 in RAC, while I'm stuck in ole #37 but I'm working on a fix :)
Thanks dak :)
...and I haven't forgotten about you either :ROTF:
How come you haven't been on gpugrid for awhile MM?
it was a lot of work for me just to make it to top 100 in RAC, so i can't fathom how much resources top 10 must be giving to get there. great job to everyone above me ... and below me as well :D
Good on 'ya to make it at all, wfd.
It appears my best effort will fall just short.
This shall not happen again :D
Maybe of that particular milestone but not in anyones eyes here
I'll let you onto my secret ... just stick around and keep crunching and you will move up in the ranks ... it just happens. First you start optimizing the heck out of whatever resources you have available. Then other people start to lose their inner drive to fight these nasty azz diseases and stop crunching (can't understand why, but it does happen :shakes:). Next time you upgrade you'll start to think about what will make a great cruncher. And then, almost like magic, all of your dedication starts to look really good on the stats, but that just doesn't seem good enough, you feel the need to drive higher. You start to wonder if that circuit in the study will take one more cruncher before popping ... wait, I can put it in the basement with no monitor and use vnc. How do I handle the heat, I can replace all lightbulbs in the house with CF bulbs to offset the electricity use ... OMG, I think I need to see someone about this before it gets out of hand
Thanks Snow Crash...just gave me some good ideas.....[runs off to Lowes....]
@ Snow
81'th by rac YAY:cool::)
Are the stats down? I get a odd pic now instead of stats... :(
Finally broke into top 100! ranked 99 now... gotta keep pushing this was a big personal goal for me and it feels really good to get here... I just have to figure out how to catch up to Artemm now.. :D
Congrats Fhqwhgads6680!!!!!!!!
That is also one of my goals but still a distant one, for now I keep trudging along making each 100 in team rank a new goal.
Congrats Fhqwhgads6680!
I made it to the sub 500's and am happy. Slowly passing up all the people that haven't posted points in a long time.
Hey guys! thanks a bunch! it has been a long time coming(2 1/2 years) and I am just glad I can contribute to this awesome team! You guys all ROCK!
:toast: team!
Fhqwhgads6680,congrats man,i cant wait til i break sub 100.
Congrats man! Takes dedication to make it here on a team like this...
You're not thinking about passing me now are ya? :hm::
And good luck with that. I'm working on it, but at the speed he passed me i don't see it actually happening. If you can, you're a better man than i. :worship:
i finally hit 500 boinc and 90 rac:woot:
got into the top 400 finally:up:
Just joined...we'll see what my little laptop does before the desktop is up and running. :D
I think you understand what is my point. Take a look at this:
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4...ot059qt.th.jpg
I`m pretty much :( :brick: because of that.
:woot:Finally broke into the top 50 in RAC:rocker:
Ive been working on that for the past month
To bad I;ll probably fall off later this week, once I take 2 AMD;s off and swap an i7 in their place:shakes:
I hate down time:mad:
Hmmm, gonna be passed by Fallwind soon. Congrats, dude! You've been crunching hard.
I had to cut back due to electricity costs and will probably never run at the level I was. If only power $$ weren't an issue; I could do over 500,000/day. alas, that ain't the case.
Thought I'd join in the festivities as I finally reached my initial WCG goals this past weekend. Top 200 at Extreme (pos. 194 today) and top 300 in Canada ( pos. 287 today ) :yepp:
Snow Crash, excellent.. Many of those thoughts going through my head now. Some how got a little cared away and bought a whack of parts and now have an i7-920 build that I'm putting together+. Hmm where to put it?
http://stats.free-dc.org/projusertag...681494&theme=8
I know each stats site has their own method to the rankings but my SR-2 rig is now #1 in average credit according to boinicstats :up:Link
Congrats sRhunt3r ! That's quite a rig you and others are running!
It sure would be nice to have the cash to setup 4 of those units in the house!
I tried to convince the wife I need one instead of new window blinds, but guess who won that one ! Hence I had to settle for an REIII and 980x :(
Congratulations guys on some fine work. Everyone is working hard and producing great scores, well done.
It's a good thing we have those wonderful women in our lives to keep us from going crazy
I'm in transition right now after buying that new rig ++, and have a bunch of board/CPU swaping etc. to do. So I threw the 980x into the rampage II Gene while I await a mobo WB.
But it was bugging the hell out of me having a 920 sitting there not crunching. Figured there was no way I was going to get three machines and all the hardware in my office running on the circuits in the room so I could setup the third machine. So this morning I hooked up two UPS's to the running rigs and figured what the heck slap the 920 together on the REIII and see if the UPS's get initiated, on a circuit trip. Lo and behold I was able to get the 980x(oc), 860(oc) and 920 plus all peripherals all running on the circuits in my office (must have seperate breakers for upper/lower plug-ins)! I'm not going to push my luck and OC the 920 right now, but am heading out to pickup a wireless network card so I can place the 920 somewhere else, where I'm not sure but somewhere in my Man Den :)
Besides it already gets tooo hot in my office, a third machine and I'm likely to turn the office into a Sauna lol
Then I'm taking some pictures of the rigs to take to the hospital to show my younger sister what we do to help solve disease's like Cancer. Being an Academic I'm sure she will be impressed with what our community does.
Go peeps go ....
Good thread and good read!
sRHunt3r , your wife should have :shoot: you some time ago.
I think you're safe to proceed with your plan :ROTF:
Hmm, seems that allprojectsstats.com seems to be having a bit of a hiccup as the stats are not updating properly the last couple of days?
Visited the site and it say's it's updating regularly but data is incorrect.
Congrates to Shoota for hitting the top 50 in RAC:clap::up::wtf:
You still waiting on the Opterons?
Sadly I have had to cut back and give up my top 50 slot now down to an i7, 1090t, and a laptop.
Still trying to sell the 955c3, Athlon 620, and Athlon 4450be and motherboards:shakes: Any takers :)
Way! I finally broke the top 100 RAC and top 500 total Boinc points. Not bad for a part timer ;) And it's all thanks to Ramaistro's Sossaman
Once I have some spare cash it's better cooling and better clocks for my 920. Need to start pulling my weight :)
My only i7 is OCed to 4.0 and has a slightly higher RAC. Yesterday he broke 5000 bionics with GPUgrid at the same time.
Good going there roki
Mine is only at 3.9 and on the warm side at that :(
I spent all my wc budget on my quad socket so it's to be expected
For i7 I would you recommend high end cooler DH14, Ultra120, VenomusX, Mgahalems, TR Spirit ... with me is 950@4.0 under 100% load below 70c. push-pull, 2x1200 S-Flex. With such temperatures, no worries and in winter 4.2 or more is not impossible for chrunching.
I'm not sure that cheap coolers have enough capacity to cool the i7 at high clocks, 4.0+ for 24/7 chrunching.
I don't understand why my RAC is 19238
I've got 28-day average of 25000
RAC makes no sense, i'm convinced it is determined by a bunch of drunken chimps throwing darts at a dart board. How can DAK have a RAC of 28,800? he hasn't averaged that low in probably a year. SAM just upgraded from 30kish to 58k-ish per day and already his RAC has caught up to 55k??
I just ignore RAC because its a poor measure and look at outputs in 28day or monthly totals, weekly, or average.
my BS RAC goes up , RAC goes down no kidding :D
http://boincstats.com/charts/chart_u...ers_259533.gif
Yeah... RAC is ridiculous. I guess thats why Boinc Stats and stats.free-dc.org both have their own RAC systems.
Here is DAK's for a good example of RAC crazyness
http://boincstats.com/charts/chart_u...ers_259416.gif
Top 100 RAC! Wohooo
#108 and I am climbing up!
#29 and did it with all AMD.:D
Nice one guys
#83 Here with just 12 intel cores. But going away at the end of the month so soon to be slipping down ranks
Great job, guys
I am tempted to install boinc on other 19 dual e5630 machines :D, just for burn-in test purposes ;)
