I think you're confused. Just cause you spend 3x the money, and work your ass off to get it setup and tested, doesn't mean it's that much better.

as you can see that is a nicer 120mm rad than on the corsiar unit and it can still barely dissipate 190w of heat. A single 120mm rad is just not adequate for CPU cooling ever, not even considering that I doubt the quality of corsairs waterblock internals :rolleyes:
the chart shows little good info. having a 10c difference between coolant and air is not a constant number, but has a pretty important factor when it comes to watts that can be dissipated
? all I am saying is that with a 10c water air difference (pretty bad, usually users shoot for 5C) you only get a MAX (with high speed, loud fan) of 190W and that is too weak for good cooling of an i7.
this unit may be ok for a phenom II, but for C2Q or i7? forget about it.

I think being as good as True would be already good for these $$$. It actually can be a few degrees better, it's possible, against non-modded True.
I don't think anyone has said great custom water cooling systems are useless. ;) They will obviously cool a whole lot better. Even if this small one was a bit worse than True, it would be still good for small cases or show off for newb friends. :p:

$139 for a no hassle FAR more adequate cooling system that comes with an industry standard pump that can be used in a more complex loop later on.
That's an AseTek LCLC 120mm, the're not bad coolers when use push-pull with decent fans, 4GHz on a Q9xxx E0, 3.6-3.8 on an i7 C1, not sure how they'll cope with D0 i7s. But our American cousins used one on this rig to get an i7 975 to 4.15GHz.
I think it will cool the i7's well. The reason I believe these units will sell well (if they deliver the promised performance) is cause people nowdays are wanting a lot more than just POWER. A few years back, I didn't care about the stuff I do now, but I realize it's part of the maturing process. Now, I not only look for the obvious performance and value, but also ease of use, and warranty/customer support. When you buy one of these units, it's easy as pie to set up, it has a warranty and support, and it cools nice and is cheap. The total package.
ok now i see the one photo showing the rest of the pieces, 5 showing off just the rad. looks like your paying almost double to get no where near double performance i bet. why spend 140$ on crappy setup, when for 140$ i can still cool my cpu, but with a pump and enough rads to cool over 500W, which i have done before. (50$ block, 50$ pump, 2x 20$ heatercores)
actually with that dual rad kit you are getting double the performance and more OC headroom because the RAD wont overload when you OC your CPU :rolleyes:
If I can oc a crappy c0 e8500 to 4.3 24/7 with a TRUE, then I'm pretty sure the H50 will be able to handle a 920 @ 4G's. Comparison may seem non-sensical to some, but what I'm trying to say is that IF the preliminary tests are true (mainly, the H50 beating the TRUE by quite a bit), then it will be able to handle an oc'ed i7 (and quite easily).
The point isnt to get a cooling solution as good as a triple fan rad setup, just to beat air coolers by a significant margin, as it installs as easily as one, and allows the same freedom air cooling has as far as maintenance and part/case swapping.
There is always something better. Ofcourse a triple fan custom setup will outperform it, but its much more hassle and swapping parts/cases becomes a nightmare.
Why not just hook a hose from the tap into the inlet of your CPU block, and a hose leading back to the drain from the outlet and turn on the cold water whenever you wanna use your CPU, it will make your setup look like garbage :P

why does it matter so much to you...
tbh if the performance it says is true.. its still true, ignore the people claiming it will do 4ghz etc etc.. as that's not what corsair is claiming at all. fair enough if you can do 3.6/3.56(to be exact) on an i7 @ stock volts, either way keeping it under 55*C is a HELL of an achievement for such a small cheap system at the end of the day :)
4G's on a 920 is not that big of an achievement to be honest...why ignore the people who say it's possible? That's what I would be striving for...
4ghz 100% stable and having the load temp NEVER exceed 80c is though.
Most people on 4ghz are not completely stable or their just benching or their temps are way too hot (and if they say otherwise most likely used Prime95 Blend to test it instead of something linpack based) and will probably tell you something like "well it never gets that hot under normal use anyways".
just for the fact that corsair arn't claiming it can do that, that's all .. in all honesty if it was me i'd see if i could do 4ghz etc...
but fact is people are arguing over if it will work or not at cooling that beast... all im saying is corsair haven't said it will or won't so it's silly to argue over it :)
the C/W efficiency will not be double when comparing the kit as a whole. the waterblock is probably going to hold you back much more than the radiator will. even if the water is cold with a bigger rad, the cpu will be hot if the waterblock sucks. thats why past a certain point there is little benefit with a simple loop like these.
see which kit or heatsink offers the best C/W per dollar, and i bet you will find the corair one to be near the top of the charts

I don't think you are getting the point of this product. No it will not perform as well as a kit with a larger rad, no it is not expandable. But that's not the point of the kit.
This kit can be fitted into the vast majority of computer cases with no modding, there is no construction (bar installing the fan and attaching the rad) and it is cheap for what it is. You won't be able to get the highest overclock on it, but you will be able to get a good overclock on it.
Comparing this to the swiftech kit you linked to, this has no construction, no addition of water or additives, no bleeding, no worrying about where to fit the double rad.
For many on here, these are not problems and this kit is not for you, this kit is for people who don't want to worry about connecting the kit together, who want all their system inside the case and want a top notch cooler. If it is the same as the Asetek kit then the cooler can run for 50 000 hours maintenance free which means significantly less hassle than a DIY kit.
This is a small, simple install cooler to install and forget about which is pretty effective. This should suit many people, but not all.

This product should be much cheaper then what you recommended SNiiPE_DoGG and I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 revisions of it with 1x120mm rad and a 2x120mm rad.
Also, who gives a flying :banana::banana::banana::banana: about i7@4ghz temps?...I'll buy that for my HTPC, and lose an additional fan (since I'll mount it in the exhaust hole with a s-flex@800rpm) while retaining good temps for the phII 705/905. If this works, it will be a godsend for many rigs. Together with an accelero s1 v2 on the 4670, silverstone night jar, corsair s128, 2WD scorpio blue and a silent intake fan (probably a noiseblocker @700rpm) this will help to make a cool, powerful yet almost silent HTPC~24/7 platform...:)
The advantage here is the price/performance ratio, together with ease of use and customer support. We just have to wait and see whether it works as advertised...

This definitely looks interesting. One concern I have is whether the current being pushed through the 3 pin fan connector is well within the connector spec. I had one of the old original vapochills and one problem that it had was that asetek only used a single 4 pin molex connector for it's power...the 12V current was way too much for that single connector and led to early problems. I ended up soldering in 2 connectors in parallel to split the current a bit. I hope the current requirements of the pump are conservative relative to the max current handling spec of the 3 pin fan connector.
Its going to be interesting, cant wait for real tests.
Ive done the major watercooling setups and recently switched back to air. Real Triple fan multi rad setups do make a HUGE difference in maximum overclocking potential while keeping it under safe temps at all times (usually it removes temp from the equation entirely and your throttling yourself based on max speculated safe voltage). But it just takes the focus too far away from the electronic components and places it on the watercooling system for me, as it makes changing parts, especially motherboards/cases a huge hassle, usually to the point where your put off from doing it, I diddnt like that as swapping hardware frequently is half the fun for me.
This is a nice hybrid of the 2, a small self contained watercooling loop that has the same ease of install and lack of spider webbing your components to the case as a normal air cooler. Only question is if it will be better then top notch air coolers at high temps, not stock ones like 1.3v for a 965.
The reviews that will be the most interesting will be ones that overclock the CPU with this unit to the point where under stress it is reaching 80c, and then seeing what one of the top air coolers like TRUE/Megahalems/Noctua with a 2 1600-1900rpm fans config get temp wise under those same settings. Will it have the same ~10c benefit, will it be less/even, worse? Thats what I want to see.
Not many care about keeping it ~10c cooler at the settings their currently using, but if it will allow their Air cooled OC'd systems that are currently skirting just under the 80c mark on LINX load tests to be overclocked a bit higher.
For air cooled i7 systems, that will usually be the jump from ~3.8ghz to 4ghz if your concerned with it being 30+ pass LINX/IntelBurntest/linpack stable.

But wouldn't that defeat the purpose of quitness of the system and yet great perfm? That's what I'm looking out of this: quiter fans with lower rpm yet greater performance.
Asetek made a formal statement about the Corsair H50 product now. They confirmed the newly improved cold plate, and a new 120mm radiator... and Corsair is the first partner to deliver a mainstream product based on it.
It will trickle down to OEM customers (like HP, CyberPower, etc.) as the year goes on... so it's not a Corsair exclusive change.

For reference, here is a quick "original" Asetek LCLC test result: i7 920 @ 4.2 GHz, LinX + Prime95, VCORE @ 1.44V With VDroop (1.4V at load)... 83-80-80-76, Room ambient 27 C. Not spectacular, obviously... but it does it's job.
After owning a pretty heavy watercooling setup I would feel like such a noob using this. On the other hand you cant fit an Iwaki and a triple rad with six fans in a p180 mini so if it beats the TRUE why not.

So... hard to do, unnecessarily expensive, a clear underperformer, not tidy, and increased power draw. I think I can fairly say that not imagining this possibility ensures that I am a real, fully-functioning man (ie. not hindered by eating paint chips as a child).

These corsair units are measly pieces of crap compared to a solid custom watercooled system. And yes you can have a custom water cooled system the makes the corsair its :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: for less than the price of 4 of them.
I'm too lazy to set up a wc rig, and plus i do check out the threads there sometimes, i saw one last night of this dude who had his water become a bunch of gunk. It's too much work imo. I like self contained kits like the H50.

your probably gonna hear the few bad ones cause the average ones are neiher spectacular enough to show off, or caused any problems. so you only see the two extremes. its really quite easy to do WC
i just replaced my video card, and the new one im running on the stock cooler, and old was part of the CPU loop.
so i pulled the card out of the PCIE slot, stuck a paper towel under it. then removed one side and let the water pour out a bit as i anchored it to the case at about the same height (lost probably 3-4 spoon fulls of water into the paper towel) and disconnected the other side and held onto it as i set aside the card, with its block full of water still. then simply connected the two ends. cleaned up by wiping down the area with paper towels and used the vacuum to get some dust any and other moisture in there.
pc booted up just fine, and thats about the dumbest way you could possible mess with a WC loop successfully. its really not as hard or scary as people make it sound. and i think a kit like this will really get people into using WC, even if they never thought about tying it before. but a true setup isnt always about the performance, but the work that goes into it.

I have tried lots of 120mm rads, and from my experience they cant cope with anything resembling high-end CPUs.
Readbeard: How does it look when running 4Ghz and 1.35v ? Your 965 should do that easy.

yeah but you sound like you've done this before...remember that a lot of times, what's easy for you cause you're experienced is colon shattering for others cause they have no clue. I just don't like the idea of a leak happening and then coming back to my dead PC. The other thing I don't like is the idea of replacing the fluid because it gets contaminated and gunk starts forming.
Trying new things is over rated to be honest. I was being polite, but I'll be blunt for you:
1. expensive water cooling rigs are more for e-peen than anything else since the extra 400 or so MHz (compared to average heat sinks) is not noticeable.
2. they are messy and require far too much work
3. they cost too much for what they offer
4. They can be almost matched by a sub $100 set up (modded TRUE + 2 good fans)
But they do increase your length and girth by 2 inches and 1.5 inches, respectively.
It's SCIENCE.

I've personally been looking into the cheap prebuilt AIO CPU wc systems for a while now for me and a friend of mine...why?
1) simple set-up- I wouldnt have to spend hours of downtime fiddling and tinkering with hose lengths, bleeding the system, etc etc etc
2) low cost- yes they're cheap and don't perform tons better than most air coolers, but, they do perform better than some (for my friend it'd be replacing a stock cooler on a Pent D 820)
3) low maintenance- need I really say more on that?
4) baby steps- One of these would be a first step, then eventually I might end up going full system WC...its just like sleeving in that sense- atm all I sleeve are fans/fp connections/sata cables...eventually I might end up doing the full monty of individual sleeving, but it's a matter of baby steps, getting comfortable with something, then broadening horizons...like food, lol
1. Cost / Performance Benefit Ratio:
- Debatable. It is definitely a law of diminishing returns, but low-mid-range DIY jobs cost a lot less than high-end ones and provide results that aren't too far different. Amout of actual benefit will also be somewhat CPU dependant - I've had some where it made about 2MHz difference, and some where it seemed to remove heat as the OC limiter (ie. frequency could continue to increase without heat being at the same levels as it was under air, but could not OC any higher). Bit of a lottery really. This is XS though, and compared to other options (TEC/phase/LN2) the ratio water gives is pretty acceptable.
2. Mess / Work:
- Build 1 = X hours
- Build 2 = X/2 hours
- Build 3 = X/2 - X/5 hours
etc.
Not saying it doesn't take awhile for that first build for sure, but after you've done a few you can pretty much just slap it together.
3. Cost
Very person dependent. I still can't justify the cost of high-end water, but low-mid can be reasonable. If you wait and shop by sales or even go used though you can get it to where it's only marginally more expensive than high-end air prices.
I will add as well that even a WC setup from 3-4 years ago is better than a current TRUE, and air coolers rotate about once a year or so. There is argument for long-term cost savings.
4. Almost matched by air
Aside from generally lower temps all around where it is somewhat debatable, water can go into higher heat dumps than air can handle. Idle is probably almost matched, but load? Maybe low-end water (ie. prebuilt, off the shelf units), but I don't recall ever seeing a properly sized DIY job (even a cheap one) that really looked like it was terribly close. Again, this is especially true with higher heat dumps. Just before the TRUE came out I had the then-current top tower on a B3 Q6600 and was able to compare that to some middle-of-the-road water cooling and saw a whopping 20+ degree difference at OC. I say 20+ because the CPU was hitting a thermal shutdown on air (implying it could have gone over) where it never did with water.
I've heard this is true.
... with all that said, am I currently running water? No. My new "desktop" isn't able to OC regardless, so there is no point in minding temperatures beyond replacing the stock sink with a third-party air cooler to reduce noise.

You are absolutely 100%. I'll never do water cooling, it take a special kind of person to water cool.
ALot of the times you have to get an expensive case, you have to mod, carefully run tubes and alot of the times people give up their pci slots and have external radiators which IMO is not worth it all. Factor in price, maintenance and all that other stuff and water cooing isnt worth it. I get it's not practical but even if its for silence and lower temps its not worth it
also if your chip cant oc in the first place then wcing wont help
but I disagree with after market vga coolers. I got my cooler for $30 and I got much better temps and it's quieter.
I'm just bitter lol my 4870 died recently when I put on my AC Twin Turbo even though I was using the stock plate for RAM/VRMs.
I had a zalman cooler for my 7900GT back in the day, and that one died 2 or 3 times I forget...and now this. :shakes:
Honestly though, I think the stock coolers now cool the RAM and VRMs a lot better than any ram sinks can. ALTHOUGH, I saw that new Thermalright VRM cooler and it looks sick. That thing would def do the job.

I don't find it that expensive if you find used parts. I can find used parts in canada, so I am sure you can find alot of used parts in the UK.
I don't know how this is going to perform that well on a i7. Most people, who own water(and know what they are talking about) wouldn't dare put a single radiator in a custom loop setup on a i7. Even a top radiator wouldn't be that great if it was a single 120mm type.
This radiator is a really thing one which means less cooling capacity.
Sure people want cheap water, but like everyone else here, I think a healthy dose of skepticism is needed.

Every single prepackaged all in one kits has never been really better than air. The only one I can think of is the cool-it elite which uses a tec and when applying heavy overclocks, it does worse than air.
Thats a 3-400 hundred dollar solution. Unless corsair did some magic, I don't know how they are going to beat a true by 15C. As the thermodynamics don't look possible considering the size of the radiator(and even more so because they are using a silent fan). Or with the original test setup, something was wrong with the true
Its worth it for alot of people, particularly the noise crowd. People are only kidding themselves if they think a true can match a water setup for noise to performance ratio. The greater the load, the greater the delta, for the TRUE to remain competitive, they have to kick up the fans a notch or two.
The worst offender of this is damn videocards coolers. Stock fans are almost always loud on the highend and they have to take up two slots on the higher end cards(in some extreme cases 3). Pretty much all water cooling videocard blocks take up 1 slot and the tubes are raised enough, so cards underneath fan fit in. What this means is water blocks actually open up expandibility.

Put a 4890 at 100% fan and compare it to a water cooled videocard(which beats it in performance) and tell me water is only for epenis. Hell even stocks settings are loud and the temps of the card are close to 100C which makes it a great oven oven for the room.
If anything cheap water cooling is purely for e penis(unless corsair pulls a miracle) because most of the time, its performance is worse than air and yet it costs more. Yet people buy it so they can say they have water cooling in their system.
For the nth time, temperature does not have the same meaning as heat.
Just because you water cool your graphics card and bring the temperature down, that doesn't change the fact that the same amount of heat is being dumped into your room.
No need to water cool a video card, that's pretty much the biggest waste of money ever and I'll tell you why. After market coolers do the job fine if you wanna replace stock, and I highly doubt you're gonna get that much more of an overclock, if at all, unless you're volt modding your card, which I've done before, and it's not worth it imo. My Sapphire 4890 can go to 1GHz+ on the core, so unless your water cooled equivalent can do a lot more than that, then I don't see the point in paying 100 bucks for a nice water block. Especially with good heat sink VGA coolers like the Musashi, Twin Turbo, HR-03, and the T-RAD2. Oh, and they're near silent.
You "power users" can love custom WC all you want, I just don't think it's worth it, and it never will be because even if the prices magically dropped, it would still be too much of a hassle, and the maintenance is not worth it for the performance (or the noise).
my 2900xt was able to hit 940mhz core, at 1.35v and at 50C with my radiator fans a 7v and dead silent. water cooling is not just about higher OC or lower temps, its also lower noise.
it is very possible to get a great watercooling rig for a low cost if your willing to do some work, and for some of us modding is the best part. my black duel heatercores look pretty sick, and cost me only 20$ a piece, and will always be strong enough to handle any configuration i throw at it. my WC setup also forced me to build a custom acrylic case from scratch. spend about 100$ on the case, but its the best case i have ever owned that fits my needs exactly, and its 100% mine. weeks of work = great self respect.
customizing a computer is not epeen, its a hobby, and a work of art for some, so please stop bashing it.
