When are you gonna start folding there Yukon?
What's up, buddy? How's Blitz? I've been out of the loop for awhile now. I'm doin' the full-time student/part-time employee grind. It hurts some days. I still get on the forums, though.
Anyways, I'm crunching for Team Canada right now. I'm thinking about coming over to Xtreme and offering up some cycles. I'll probably keep my GPU on SETI@Home Beta and dedicated my Nehalem to WCG or something.
What are you running these days?
Basically , I'll give my short review based on 1 Week experience with Quad SLI or Dual GTX 295
Stock ASUS models. Very good cards, the person that put the exhaust on the top was a moron. If it blowed the air from the front, it would be amazing.
Quad Sli in W7 impossible, that's not Microsluttering , that's LeapFrameFroggin' , folding is fine if you have enough dummy plugs, which I don't have.
The -gpu 2 Client usually finds it funny and folds on the same GPU as -gpu 1 client, briliant.
As for the OC , is not worth it, the card is fast as hell everywhere.
Don't Stick the two GTX 295 together without at least 2 cm gap between them. I was using it on eVGA X58 and I had to move the 2nd GTX 295 to the 5th slot instead of 3rd , because i was looking at three digit temps [ celsia ] . As they were positioned in slots 1 and 5 , temps fall down to mid 70's ~ 80's
Gaming is fun if the Game supports it fully ... Crysis Warhead was a charm ... 1920*1200 4x AA 16x AF 50 ~ 60 FPS stable
Prince of Persia ... boy that was a pixelated crack ... sync issues like hell.
All issues Are simply driver based, I tried 3 drivers some problems went away new occured.
The technology is great but the drivers are immature, SLI is fine Tri SLI is fine Quad SLI = I felt like nvidia Betatester.
But for 3Dmarks is fine, I presume noone buys dual GTX 295 just for the fun of it ... like me :hehe:
I'm going to refund both cards and grab me a nice pair of eVGA GTX 285
Why are you also refunding the second card? More framebuffer? Or bc you can run SLI on 285 on other drivers?
I just replaced my XFX GTX295 with an EVGA GTX295. I was getting too many NaN's on the XFX (on one particular GPU), and the screen was flickering while using photoshop.
I'll keep everyone posted.
Nah , I returned both GTX's and got me a nice pair of EVGA GTX285 , they are SUPER silent , fan on 60% and 80 degrees ! You can barely hear them.
+ More Framebuffer + More Rops + Eats much less.
May I present you ... Dual 240 SP eVGA solution
http://www.ninjutsu.tym.cz/gtx285.jpg
:hehe:
You do that, I hope I don't get the same problems. Though they say all good things go by three, don't they?! Maybe I will need to try a third card, who knows. :p:
Holy PPD galore! 80 degrees with these clocks also sound reasonable, don't they? Congrats man!
It's possible to reach 89something on the 295, but 92something?! We'll see!
You bet ... and EVGA releases new OC utility soon able to Add Volts directly to the deepest core of the VGA ... anyone care to see 480 Shaders on 1850 MHz ?
That would be epic .... Download a WU chew for 30 minutes and spit
Chew and spit chew and spit ... I'm getting into this
i hope these 295 dont go the way of the 9600gso :( i had a month or so of great folding to do, then BAM !! we get these monster WU and the gso sucks now.....
Sky you know G200 are the Cherry on the top of the cake , eventhrough it's just polished and refurbished G80 it still rocks because it's huge & massive [ Do i smell Russia ? ] + complex ... and when Complex WU's come the low end cards die more rapidly than the complex hot expensive bastards. And GTX 295 is just slightli crippled GTX 280 so it can ulneash the full power and bite in the hard ass WU's ... but the weaker cards can't because their teeth are to small to penetrate the "orange peel" ass :hehe:
If they came up with WU's that even the G200 series would chew hard ... ati is doomed
Don't fear, these 295's have a lot in them. On air with shaders bumped to 154something (didn't write it down before refund) you get around 6500PPD for one part of the card. So I think 13K PPD for one card both big WUs is still something. :)
Tomorrow, with a little bit of luck, I'll get my XFX + new PSU, so I'll start playing with it then. Let's see if this card will see shaders at 1600-1700 on air. RT soft volt mod FTW. :D
Nice! Over 9k per card :)
And the sad part is , they Aren't even OCed :hehe:
If it'll last a year before they release 1k-pointers or more then I'm lucky. I'm not planning long term here, I just like this card because it can do what I want it to, NOW. It's shines at folding atm, and it will be able to run StarCraft2 and Diablo3. That's what I want. Why should I think about a non-existent card for nonexistent WUs? There's no "last week" here.
The funny thing is that the sandwitch solution GX2 wen't down but because of the low amount [ relatively ] of shaders, GTX 295 is a full proper Wu Grinder of Fah [ The ol' god of Wu's ] 240 * 2 shaders and folding doesn't give a flying f .... :hehe: about ROP's
and it's viable for gaming also and easy to work with ... want to fold ? Nvidia Control Panel Disable SLI ... [ If you have only one card ] as I had it before http://www.ninjutsu.tym.cz/nuevo/Photo068.jpg it neede a little more work but still good ... the only downside on the QUAD solutin is it sucks at games that's why I throwed it out of the window ...
But Still one GTX 295 chews everything like marshmallows [ that yucky sticky candy ]
+ The new cards will come around Q4 09 or Q1 10 so until then GTX 295 will be the hammers of DNA blacksmiths
ATI is not attractive to ol' FAH so I don't even consider those. I'll have my dual 285 solution for Gaming until the new GT 300 series comes out ...
The i7's are the way to go to feed these hungry GPU's for gaming and for folding it doesn't matter , someone that only folds and has an eVGA 3 SLI or other 3 SLI capable board and buys 3 GTX's 295 doesn't really need to occupy the CPU with a client
For Gaming reasons is overkill but this is XS mofos ! :hehe: Bigger , Better , Stronger , Faster .... Electric Bills
i like the way you think... lol
It's Christmas again here, for the second time this year! :D

Things to note:
- that Antec PSU is one nasty heavy mofo, it's dead silent and it makes two or three clicking noises on start-up very much like expensive HiFi amps - me likes :p: (review)
- either it is the mighty clean voltage that new PSU supplies (on the old PSU I had 4 adapters on the 8-pin plug :shakes:) or the card itself, but this new 295 is a _whole lot_ less noisy concerning whining and squealing
Clocks? We'll see, I will post here on my findings. At least it's up and running. Now I'm only missing water. :D
Was that during 100% load, folding or whatever?
Mine are practically touching and i haven't seen the hottest one go over 79c, which it reaches after half an hour or so on Crysis.

Okay, the card is behaves like it should. It's folding at 684/1512/1215 for 14 hours straight without any error. And both GPU are really close this time, go one step further on both and they start with NaN's. Before giving it a little more juice I think I'll let it settle a bit at these mighty fine clocks. Good thing I changed to XFX. :)
Question concerning the bundled FarCry 2 I've got with the card: what's with this pain-in-the-ass-DRM? Is there a way to get rid of it or install the game without it? I'd like to try it but certainly not when it practically installs a rootkit on my system.
Crysis part one has no rootkit, right?
Did I mention already btw? F$ck DRM! I'm considering this a corporate crime (if that word even exists) to be trying to invade my system with something I PAID FOR. Everyone who was part of inventing and implementing this in games should seriously go die off in the basement, morons.
Edit: Okay, now for something more on topic. Dunno if it's stable yet, but..

6800PPD for an 511 pointer:

:)
yummy.
Yummy indeed, but the sexiest block IMO is still the Koolance block. ( http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...product_id=778 )
And the one from AquaComputer is the lightest, it's somewhere around 700 grams. :)
damn, nice points youve got there....
ill be down for a few days, im changing my main rig over from phenom to a Q9400 and everything is "wet" so ive got to shut it all down.
thy way these 295's are producing, i might just have to pull the trigger on 2 :)
In view of the forthcoming race...can anyone remind me....I know mixing 112shaders with 128shaders is a no...what about mixing various 200 series cards, does that cause problems too?
Check out Danger Den's GTX295 block installation gallery. http://dangerden.smugmug.com/gallery...62995975_bsh8v
The Danger Den blocks are now available! I just ordered mine.

That's the problem, I have exactly one mcp355 and I don't plan on another one, so no dual loop for me. So the only question would be two or three 320 rads. And if there's enough money for that project. My current plans are to just LC CPU and NB and leave the GPUs on air, bc 260€ just for two GPU blocks are not far from another 295. :(
If I put another 295 in that rig and clock it like this one I wonder how summer is going to be lol. :hehe:
Imagine how it would be for me when it is like 112F/44C outside. The high today is 78F/26C in January. :ROTF::rofl:
You'll be the cookie. And your room is the oven. Doooom. Impending dooooom. :hehe:
Edit:
p2501 to 295: Fold beotch, fold! :cord:
A little over 7k PPD from one part... :D
http://bandwidth.se/imgs/101/427/foldcmp1.png
Hey P whats it gonna take to get you over to team bourbon? :D
Skycrane...2 is too many...Send me 1 of them:rofl:
CURSE this recession! I really would like to have a 295... :slobber:
I wonder with ATI's new card coming out if the price tag is going to drop significantly?
I don't really think it's going to be a significant drop, because this card packs some expensive tech, with which I think the price point even at launch is well chosen. If they go down to 350€ or less I'm sure I'll get another one. Only problem is cooling them. Running it at 712/1620/1242 with 1.14 volts leads to 80-83°C on the cores with the current ambient temps (we shut down our heating, the card is doing the job together with my quad). Summer = meltdown?
Yea I know what you mean. I wonder if running these cards at 100% load and heating your house is more cost efficient than using your heat:) I know ever since I got my 3 card setup my heat hasn't been on. Typically its in the 30's outside and my room sits at a comfortable 72F. My roommate came home the other day with his room freezing turned on the heat so his room was 68F and I came home from work and my room was a blistering 86F:( Even with central air this summer I think I may still throw in a window unit.
Well I don't think I will be able to afford to power an additional aircon. I need all the power to the folder and even this is and will be expensive... why are there no discounts for folders?
I only wish there was some way to write this off on our upcoming taxes.
Tax refunds for folding and power used, that's a nice idea. I'd like to have some more 295's here.. =)
My GTX295 is much happier with GPU1@30°C7, and GPU2@37°C!
I ordered the block from Danger Den the moment they came in stock!
30°C and 37°C fully loaded??? Or are these idle temps? I sure hope so.
those DD blocks look worthy of XS... you have brought honor to the forum!
:D
Anyone know where to find EVGA's 295 in stock?
