we have a winner.
the greek reviews used 32bit vista ultimate -> so the scores are 32bit cinebench. ;)

Wow 2.8+ nb! This will be killin....
how long do you guys think the mosfetts and NB will hold up to such high frequencies?
Where are you guys seeing 2.8+ nb?
Trying slightly upping nb volts?
what are your nb volts hondaguy?
post 91 caveman
Thanks Crazydiamond...I didn't even noticed that thought they were both at 2.65.
Though unless that's at stock nb volts whih I find unlikely I'd be worried about blowing something...scary new territory this phenom II bring's just hope the performance is there to.
omg boom goes the board....
Deneb is awesome!! I think amd will soon make sub 10 second super pi.
Once the 945 hits with ddr3.
It can only get better for amd and fans. :D
Well on my 9850 i been using some form of 240-250 NB & HT link speed in all my overclocks on my A79A-S for about 5 months i got my Foxconn mother board the frist week it hit new egg . It still running good in fact i did a AOD stably test for a hour @ 3.3 mhz 1.63v the other night still running like champ .I been using these clock as my 24/7 for a bit now . Just could not see staying at 3.2 1.53v for .08 more over clock . PS i got my 9850 the frist week they came out on new egg so i been kicking the crap out of the thing for about a year now and it still running Great . The best thing that every happen to my 9850 was the SB750 chip.
I have been able to get almost 3000NB and 3000mhz Core. I didn't run any benches, just loaded into windows...( I am working OVER TIME)(supose to be working now...well I am watching files move lol) when I get done with these couple projects for work.. I will be back at the playing. Hopefully this next week.
Hey Hondaguy...I actually have a fighting chance this time LOL.. I had trouble catching you on the 9850 and 9950's I have...;)
ohhh well I still have a few more tricks to get this CPU/mobo for more.. NB is @ 1.45, not 1.5 anymore
NB @ 2926
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/8...henomiixv1.png
what kind of performance loss can we see by running low ht with high nb?? is it a significant loss or is it unnoticable?
WOW!!! You have impressed me with your OC abilities a number of times HondaGuy... 2.9+ on the IMC is really awesome.
Based on my experience with the 9950 though, I'd be leary of pushing those kinds of v's on the NB... You really think that's safe? I'd hate to see ya kill that shiny new chip. :p:
Reguardless, killer clocks man!! L3 latencies blow away anything I've seen on the 9950 (hell, all caches for that matter:yepp:)
Could you run a Winrar or Wprime for us at those clocks?
Does the 940 show the same voltage effects as the 9950? IE: you get to a point where added v's show little improvement, like .1v only gives you another 50Mhz?
Very impressive results man! Can't wait to get my hands on one of these... :D
Maybe the chip Gods will smile on me for once, but I doubt it... You seem to have the Golden Ticket as far as hardware goes.... :ROTF:
I have booted to windows at 2.7+(nb) with my 9950.
I still think this speed must be easy for denebs.
ok then, i'll go for a 920 and try hardcore htt oc on a sb600 board to add to the discussion xD
2.8g NB is sufficient for 4ghz with the 920 without lowering the nb multi...
At 2.8 nb and 4ghz many yorkfield will drop dead easy...
Amazing clocks HondaGuy!
What is interesting is how CB10 responded to IMC/L3 cache speed bump:
CB Multi 15343 - NB 2652MHz
CB Multi 15518 - NB 2856MHz
So from 200MHz more on NB we are gaining 175 CB points
This is 1.14% better on an application which responds badly to NB clock scaling.
From my experience 3DMark 05/06 and most games responds much better to NB clock increase :)
@ HondaGuy: Am I right this is already under water? Whats highest clock then you can achieve??
OT /
Nice to see you mate, i wish that id have s939 mobo + cpu, so i could try to beat your bh-5 record :P my kit does 292 with 3.9v and highes i reached was 294 cpu-z stable... was on air cooling and +7c ambient temp if i remember right...
well soon back to work to get some money and new cpu & mobo, so i can throw this E8500 out of window.
Oese: Yes your right , its under water..So far I have been able to hit 3.9 CPU so far, still in the testing mode
Amdcian: NB clocks were at 2600Mhz
Titan7171: I find running higher NB with a lower HT I get better results. Look at post #86 the first two test were with the HT@2600 same as NB.. So I droped it back down to stock and I received a better score by 392 points
Thanks Guys, hopefully you all get your Phenom II chips soon....Like to see what they can do on a M3A79-T Deluxe
thx...
List has been updated.
thanks for the update, just checking it out,, my Memory is 4x1Gb

these are real numbers :D
Thanks for consolidating all your screenshots. Its weird that you L3 latency went back up after making the nb faster from 2808 to 2926.
Im so wanting those NB speeds! I cant get mine stable at 2450.
All you did was add 1.45 volts to your north bridge? or is there some other settings you changed?
Edit: Also is NB water cooled? and what are its temps?
NB is just stock cooling, Yes all I did was changed the Volts in the BIOS for the NB.......Phenom II 940 seem to Undervolt pretty good.
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/320...dervoltrf4.png
Wow!
That was great news/test HondaGuy!
PHII looking better and better... :D
macci posted a pic of 3.3ghz nb while running a TRUE in dinos thread about ln2 needing a long time to evaporate. He had benchmarks with it but all the numbers were blotted out.
Honda Guy
Can you make a quick run Sisoft Memory Bandwidth with 3.7 GHz and 2.9 GHZ NB and if you have a bit more time check results with rightmark memory analyzer using this settings

Sisoft Memory Bandwidth

ASUS M3A32-MVP seems to be ocing the cpu really nicely....

WPrime CPU @3.814
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/8654/wprime1xo0.png
I swore having your memory ganged was better for bandwidth scores and overall.
Why would he run sisoft unganged then?
Good score though.
i know its supposed to offer the highest bandwidth
UnGanged gives best performance in Everest Memory Copy test as well as in most real world apps. SiSoft is measuring NUMA bandwidth so each core is running this test simultaneously and gives best results in unganged mode as well, but ganged is not far off. Everest test memory only on single core ....
PS. In 3D section SF3D, Macci and Sampsa are showing some nice things. 3.4GHz NB anyone?? 2GHz HT under LN2 ...;)
The 3.2 nb was done under ln2? or air?
Thats odd I though you'd at least hit sub 10s with that clock speed.
I got 10.480 with my 9950 @ 3570Mhz.
Kinda disappointing :(.
I think I'm right in saying though that, HondaGuy is using an SB600 M3A32-MVP mobo, so no SB750 benefits, and I think from most of the ss's that he runs with CPU Tweak disabled, which will also drop performance.
With CPU Tweak enabled however its possible that he wouldn't be able to get as high core clocks though, so its a swings and roundabouts thing, lower clocks increased core performance or higher clocks and lower core performance....
Might be a bit of a balancing act as to which one is better...????

Not even tweaked yet. NB is pretty low now. Watercooled.
Tweaking more when i get back home.
Stability means that the system will not error even under extreme load. While you may never see the use that the stress tools put on the system, it is possible to get such high load (as the stress tools prove).
Firstly "current" is not amps times voltage, I believe Amps x V is Power. Current is Amps.
But more importantly, if the board cannot hold the amount of stress you are putting on it, then you need to back down on the stress being put on it (by lowring the OC), simple as that.
Not bad still @ stock volts
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/9747/stock35nh3.png
Did you happen to write down your stepping before you put it in?
Yeah, I'm not ordering my 940 from the egg, the microcenter that's 2 minutes away should have them in stock so I'm just going there even though its slightly overpriced.
Edit: Just looked again, found it for 275. Definitely going to try and pricematch it at microcenter so get like $50 off what their selling price is.
i just made a occt 1 hour run at 3.3 and the rest all stock.
what more data do you need?.
gonna write down the batch nr. in a moment.

@OldGUY............You have to make this clear to all that the "Minimum Requirement" will be ....1hr OCCT "CPU TEST" @ High Priority........ Not Mix!!!!
I'm fine with 2 hours of prime or 1 hour occt. I'm going to go change it after this post.
Thanks for the new information guys, can't put it in yet though because I'm on the Q9450 and not my 3.5 year old lappy with the classic Pentium M(That still manages to run vista x86 very easily after startup.).
I just got my 940 from microcenter, took like half an hour to get the price match from 334 down to 275. Its just annoying because 2 different guys had to look at the price on newegg, each at different ends of the store. Also had my girlfriends dad help me with the case, had to get stuff cut and drilled for my vapo, and with my luck the case sits about 3š off center. Now I get to wait till this evening to actually build the computer with her.
Keep the results coming guys.
Edit: Just updated the list.
Reviews were needing 1.5+ supposedly for 3.5-3.7 yet GondaGuy can do it on stock
Either they just suck or he got an amazing chip.
He's on the M3A32-MVP which is SB600... so no ACC. I actually have one that's not in use, and the M3A79-T is sitting in the box waiting to be used. Its because reviewers didn't want to fidget around with the last generation of phenoms that they can't do that well with this generation. Its sort of how I get pretty good at tweaking phenoms after buying 5 of them to do "testing", but I'm not very good with my Q9450 system. I can get it to boot at up to 490 fsb, but its not stable. Somebody that's more experienced with overclocking intels would have much better luck than I had.
Edit: Honda beat me to it.
beat you to it...just....
Even more impressive. :)
Since you used Amd utility (GUI) I assumed ACC was used.
Should have known better as you are on a board (SB600) that not really support ACC that well.
So it shows that people used to tweaking AMD probably are the best to test.
These days most reviewers only runs Intel rigs. :)
Any phenom I overclocker can do better than the reviewers @ tha other sites when ocing phenomII.
Not to forget that reviewers were using older production samples and HondaGuy is clocking retail chip.
BTW HondaGuy which week of production is yours?? I've lost count already :P
but hondaguy used 10 seconds prime. thats a pretty short test. but still very impressive.
i saw in my test that it took 10 minutes for the system to get into operating temperature.
Nice guys, just one question, do you lap your new phenom and how is the base compared to old x2? Is lapping still necessary?
Extremely impressive that it makes 2800MHz NB, and that with 4 DIMM's! Looks that we maybe are able to run 3GHz+/- with 2 DIMM's stable.
Have you seen some big drop in L3 cache latency with 2800MHz NB? You should have. Also memory latency. Can you compare default 1.8GHz with 2.8GHz NB in apps but with same corefrequency? Should be very intresesting to see the difference.
Sweet. Looks like ZZF shipped via Fedex instead of UPS. It came in after I went back to work!
Just to let everyone know about ACC and my tests with my Phenom II. I enabled it on my board and my pc would not boot. I had to reset the bios to get it to boot back up. Did this twice to make sure that was the cause and it was. Maybe others experience will be different, but what I have experienced is that ACC does not work at all with Phenom II.
I haven't used AMD since my 939 well ok I played with a phenom BE for a few weeks......( about 1 year total away ), I managed 3.7 on stock air and 4.8 on mach 2 both being limited to .10 over stock @ boston event.............it has to do with reviewers not being hardcore overclockers by nature ;)
The suspense is killing me but AMD is sending me an AM3 cpu so I will just have to suck it up and wait it seems. So close to pulling the trigger on a 940 and gigabyte.
I think it is funny how all of us that have these are getting better clocks then the test sites on average...My PC is folding right now..when I get home I'll post my results..I have about 6 more days..hopefully less. Keep em' coming man..looks good..I think you might be doin better then I did.
Come on HondaGuy get back at it, you seem to be one of if not the best amd overclocker here. I can't wait to see you hitting 3.0+ nb with high hypertransport and 4.0+ core since your on water.
I hope this is real........seems a little out of touch with all the other people ocing. I mean I like these results but this seems to good to be true and with only .10 more volts than stock?? thats 1200mhz on just an extra .10v
I don't think those voltages are correct in AOD. If I had to guess they are above 1.55 to get to 4.2
dang...you beat me..although I haven't had a lot of time to paly with my toys because of my job. Peaople say times are tuff, but our clients are spending money...I only have one screen shot on my website, but not enough info for the chart till I get home. I guess i need some ln2 to beat you lol...:p:
great job tho man..:up::up:
I wish I had my PIX up, I could remote home and get some files pulled. I might see if my wife can send them to me.. hear is all i have for now.
http://3800z24.info/Phenom/Deneb/Pi_1M_4ghz_small.JPG
In post 151 he used a similar screenie of AOD 1.35v 3.5ghz and said not bad at stock voltage...so now these arent showing the right voltages??
Well I dont know.......just dont want to be blinded ..........maybe hes using ice water or something? Well I hope its real......wouldnt mind hitting 4ghz@1.45v
can it be so hard to achieve?
I'm doing the same with an intel chip prime stable......
Why would it be hard to believe for amd, sheesh my x2 3800 @ 90nm did up to 3.0 on .10 over stock.
Alot of overclockers just immediately go for the gusto and increase cpu volts expecting an uber high OC.
The ones that actually acchieve high clocks take they're time, tweak and give as little volts as possible......
If you look at his temps they are 33C which is just a tad below room temps, water cooling plus maybe an open window, honda whats load temps like? I'm guessing max 50C under a sustained load like prime for a few hours?
For reference a mach 2 pulled 1800mhz at boston event on .10 over stock........these chips do not scale well with voltage, they however scale higher at the same voltage when kept cooler.......when frozen below phase temps then you can throw volts at em.......
Its simple more volts = higher temps = less OC.........lower volts = lower temps = higher OC.......
yes Ive seen all the info online......thanks, I see everything you see........but Im the type to have some doubts sometimes......I just wont flow with the grain because everybody is on a high and wants to believe everything they see. I really dont want to insult anyone but Im going to speak my mind if I feel something might look a little strange to me Im going to question it. But I also realize maybe hes running chilled water or something thats why I mentioned it:hm:
Like I said I hope these are the kinds of results that will be common......theres alot of ocers that been here for a long time that should be able to do the same. Anyway I wont mess up this thread any further........good luck with the overclocking guys.
Shouldn't be too hard. My 940 seems to be doing 3.8ghz on stock voltage with a bios that doesn't even completely support it. I was able to install vista at 3.6ghz cpu and 2.4ghz nb with thos being the only settings I changed. No screens right now, I'll be working on that tomorrow while I do laundry before I go back to school along with getting everything installed on it. I didn't even take the time to put a wireless card in system yet so I have internet at the house. But the only thing that matters is that the vapo works, other than I put a connector on wrong because my lcd temp thing on the front doesn't show anything useful.

3.9 stable, nice!
Is that second picture showing 4.1 stable or what? The current speed in AOD is showing 4.1 but cpu-z has it at 3.9 still while running prime.
@Particle - I put you in the table but I'm missing some information from you. Stepping, Mobo, and Memory Config(Just guessed 2x1gb)
New list uploaded with 10 minutes.
Edit: List updated and its really sad that I had to spend 15 minutes trying to find the control panel on asetek's site for my vapochill. Search for downloads and it comes up with nothing.

1.625 for the 4.8 or the 4.2?
Is that 4.8 on water?
Because last I've been seeing cascade and such seem to be getting not much higher than that 5-5.3
holy :banana::banana::banana::banana: :D
update your sig pls ;)
Anyone else having trouble with multipliers higher than 19 regardless of voltage? Perhaps I should bump HTT a little...
I need to update my bios to figure anything out. I'm installing drivers/utilities as I'm typing this. Right now its at 3.7 cpu and 2.4 nb.
Man... seeing you hit that on water makes me really want to get 5ghz with the vapo. Do you want me to switch your entry to that with the new os or just make a new one since its a different os?
Old guy is that 3.7 (3.8? from sig) with 2.4 nb with air or on your vapochill?
Anyone know if the heatspreader is soldered?
Anyone done some power consumption measurements when heavily OC'ed?
4.8G on water? Amazing. =)
Wonder what will happen in coming months once the process matures...

I'm using the old 8.10 driver because it is the least problematic.

PH1 is soldered, I dont think they would change this on PH2
Oc'd from bios...On air unoptimized.

Its on the vapo, didn't even bother touching it with air. 3.7 with just the multi didn't like prime, I'm going to try from the 18x multi and go up using htt. I haven't touched volts yet, I want to see exactly how far it goes on stock first.
