How is this board guys, i was thinking of trading off my UD5 for this board, i love the layout.
Yeah the layout is pretty much perfect for me too (dual SLI optimized, off-board soundcard). Most of the online reviews up until this point are steering me away though.

i only remember 3 people who got the BR and switched to another board, two were because they had a DOA/damage board, and one went for classified and went back to BR since he didnt want nf200, it gave him lower scores and he didnt like the stock heatsink/lack of improved chipset cooling.
sholvaco, the only bad review ive seen about BR was the H review, what other reviews are steering you away?
its not a perfect board, but pretty damn good, the only real problems are that at high multis and high vcore theres a notable droop between idle and load, though that should be fixed in a future bios, you cant run tri sli unless you watercool at least one card... thats about it. theres a learning curve since some things need to be adjusted manually and dont get changed automatically, like increasing uncore multipliers when selecting a higher memory multiplier, or to improve the droop you have to disable CxE and the droop compensation setting.
the good points are:
very powerful cpu pwm
overall very beefy pwms for ioh, vtt and mem
very organized bios structure (tho you need to get used to it)
4 pciE slots
can run 2 dualsot vgas plus pci, plus pciE x1
very good onboard sound
very good cooling array with very good bundled waterblock
beautiful design/layout
good price
Saaya it wasn't that other reviews were outright bad, it's just that in multiboard comparisons it often comes up a bit short in some key benchmarks when compared to other boards. The more affordable Asus P6T Deluxe beats it fair and square and even shames it's flashier sibling the R2E more often than not. The classic ASUS QC issues are making me wary of that one too but to be honest they seem to ship more high-end boards than other manufacturers, so statistics wise...
Anyway I was more than willing to look past most of the above because of the bonus features, the layout and especialy the looks (I was't even considering going Core i7 until your masterpiece hit ;)) but that HardOCP review drew the final straw with me, so I'm now looking at either DFI UT or non NF200 Classified. No offense man.
non taken, the weird thing about the reviews is that we never managed to reproduce those weird benchmark results, we have all x58 boards here for reference...
so it must have been some configuration problem, i guess...
anyhow, good luck with the dfi or classified, id probably go for the dfi cause of their insane bios options and because i dont like the classies heatsink... plus its still expensive...
the dfi has some probs with the cpu pwm tho i heard, as long as you dont enable vdroop compensation it should be ok though.
If you want to know what this board is capable of check out my CPUID for my DO stepping in my sig. I will admit that if the Classified was the same price or if money was not an issue I would probably do it for the ability to hit higher than 222BCLK. Other than the Classified I do not know of any boards that can do it without some extreme cooling like LN2.
dfi boards can hit high bclocks, actually dfi was the first, everybody else followed them :D
but im not convinced high bclocks really depend that much on the board, it has a lot to do with having the right cpu as well...
My BR would be here tomorrow. I also have a classified(which I am waiting for an RMA) and a D0 920(45B027), should be interesting. BTW, Saaya what BIOS version do you recommend for the DO. Is there any version with special optimizations for the DO(like the one for DFI that Gary was talking about in his DO review @AT)?

P06/07 (I'm not sure, but P07 is for D0 I think..) and you can also try beta BIOS if you like Benchzone - BIOS Download. G22 seems like quite good for OCing anything.. going to try it soon myself.
im not sure about d0 clocking,, i just heard that G19a didnt work well with somebodies d0, so apparently the later ones are better for d0 chips...
keep in mind that d0 chips are more sensitive when ocing, they have a thinner like of volts they accept and like, c0 chips are very forgiving, you can blow much higher volts at them than they need and they just run hotter, d0 chips tend to become unstable when they get too high volts. finding the sweet spot on d0s is trickier, but overall they clock better with less volts and lower temps, so they are def worth the little extra hassle.

I have the CPU Turbo to "Always ON" but it goes to 20 multi under load.
And do you have Speedstep on? I think all those Intel "improvements" must be on in order to get 21 or 22 multi.. (and current override too...).

Can anyone clarify regarding TDP limit in P07 bios ?
I changed to settings in CPU features (something with "current ovveride") and the Vcore was lowered (set it to 1.35 and got 1.28) and the Multy dropped from 21 to 20, settings were 200X21.
moreover, why there is no option to change the PCI-E speed ?
Aside from that it is a nice board, I hope some issues with it will be improved.
I saw one thing I think nobody here mentioned.
When you set the CPU speed above 4200Mhz, they add a little funny caption, which get crazier the higher the CPU goes.
It goes from, Nice cpu speed, Great speed, Bench god, to GODLIKE !!! LOL, it was so funny !

Anyone heard anything about the FlamingBlade GTI thats like $179.99 on newegg? It seems lower end, but I'm tempted to go i7 because that board is so cheap. :D and looks like the BR.

Vdroop is good and not an issue. I was able to overclock my C0 to 4.2Ghz at a lower voltage than I was on my EVGA Vanilla board. Overall it's a great board and a new bios will be enabling PCIe adjustment and the ability to go beyond the 222BCLK wall. Check out the Foxconn BR thread for more details.
Technically we don't even have official word on that. The guy that posted that stated he worked for Foxconn, so if we assume that is true then we have to believe his statement:
"ok a bios will be out soon that will give pci-e freq
and after that they be one to go above 220bclk
plus i know there be a lot more fixes comming
so wait and see"
This leads me to imply that they are working on it assuming this guy does work for Foxconn. It would be nice to get confirmation, but until then we have to take it for what it's worth.
I will try and see if I confirm that Lord Trident is working for Foxconn.
