Well I got a Farcry 2 game, registered under another name (odinthegreatone) as mine was taken :( Hopefully ubisoft sends an email.
Congrats to everyone that won something!
Thanks for notifying us that it was up!
Checked and saw that I won a copy of the game. I REALLY wish that I had won a 965 (I already have FC2), but I guess beggars can't be chooser's.
IF anyone doesn't know, you can press CTRL + F to bring up the "search page" dialogue.
Erm, fail?
Holy crap, I won a Far Cry 2!
I wish I would have known I had to enter every day, thats what I get for not reading.
Congrats on the i7 965 peeps! That is way way cool!
Gratz all! I nearly crapped myself when I typed in l33t p1mp, when I put in l33 firefox scrolled down and highlighted a name. I was so happy but then I put in the t and found out it was somebody else. Oh well, I already got far cry 2 from my gtx 260.
looks like a won a copy, i'm surprised that i won that even :D
I wonder when we'll get the email from them to claim our prizes? I can't wait to get that core i7 965 :)
Think about how long it took them to pick the winners... :D
Damn, still no email from them. I wish they had put a contact email address on the contest page. I can't find a single contact email address on their French HQ site
^^ :(
I got Nada...
Still no email from them :( At this rate the core i7 965 will be obsolete before I even receive it
You'll probably get an email just as fast as the time it took for them to choose the winners.
i7 965 Obsolete??? You must be mad :slap:
Intel says the i975 will be replacing the i965 so maybe I'll get one of those instead whenever they decide to contact winners.
Naaa, slug, dream on. :p:
... they've got enough stock of 965 left. :hehe:
Yop. ^^ I feel that there will be a FarCry 3 when I'm gonna get my FC 2 copy...
If not Far Cry 4 :(
Hey. I actually won a FC2 game.
Long list of winner.. wow
I really don't want it for a xmas present 2009...
51 winners a day x 30 days = 1530 winners. I'm really getting anxious to get my prize. I just hope I don't get hit with too much taxes etc.
edit Feb 20th: Anyone receive an email from these guys yet? It's been nearly a month since they posted the winners list and no sign of an email from them yet :(
I picked up an EVGA x58 motherboard last week and am just waiting for the i7 965 so I can upgrade.
It's been exactly one month since they posted the winners list and they still haven't emailed any of us :(
Me wants my 965 me does :)
haha damn slug bug.. you should'nt have bought a system around this until you actually got the cpu. you'll go mad before they send you a email.
Thanks for bumping this tho.. I found out i won Far Cry 2.
Got no email but today a small envelope
http://www.abload.de/img/p1020692fvoc.jpg
Same here, no email but I did get a game. I guess they decided to skip the email part:p:
I just got an e-mail from them.
lol me too:p: I got the email in which they ask for my address a few hours after the game arrived:p:
lol^^
I also got an email from Intel French Headquarters asking for my adress.
No email here yet. Where were your games shipped from?
Ok, just checking to make sure the email was legit.
Wait, in registering for the contest, didn't we provide them with all the information that they requested in the email?
Maybe they try to expose liars... ;)
Thought I would get the email today but nothing yet :(
I won Far Cry 2 as well.. Thought it was spam at first lol
I guess they must be giving the games out first. Still no email :(
Did the email you guys received have a reply to address?
oh :banana::banana::banana::banana: slug :(
i hope they come through with the CPUs mate
If not, I got his email address so we can add him to some spam bots:rofl:
I have his email(thanks to another winner)and emailed him last Friday. No reply yet though :(
Hi I've not posted on here before but just wondered if anyone had recieved their i7 yet? I won one & recieved it yesterday only they sent me the 920 so not even close to the spec of the 965 extreme.
Thats lame.
No I have not received mine yet, however if I were you I would send them an email right away. I have the Intel guys email address if you need it. A 920 is less than 1/3 the price of a 965 and I'm pretty sure they have to give you something of equal value. By the way which country are you from and where was your prize shipped from?
The Intel rep replied the other day and said they were still waiting to receive info from 10 of the Core i7 winners, and would be shipping the prizes soon. He also said I would send me the tracking number when it did ship.
I have emailed the guy that emailed me in the first place. I'm in the UK & it was shipped from France. Also been on the phone with Ubisoft in France & UK but no help. Hopefully will hear something back soon.
I know of a few other winners that have also recieved the 920 but are happy keeping it. I on the other hand was looking forward to recieving the 965 so I won't give up easily
Have been in contact with about 5 people so far from either Intel or Ubisoft but no luck yet. I hope you recieve yours soon & it's the correct one!
If I receive a 920 as well I will be contacting them for sure. A 920 would suit me fine, but the point is that the rules clearly state the prize is a 965 which has a much higher value. Send me three 920's and that will be fine though
Well that ain't good; I have a feeling that Ubisoft/Intel won't budge about fixing this error if all the grand prizes winners receive a 920i
There are laws concerning online contests requiring both parties to abide by.
Well, I'm quite sure they won't get sured over this issue if they refuse to replace the 920i chips with the prize that the winners were suppose to get.
Yep, what are you going to do?
Lame.
This doesn't look like a core i7 965

I called Intel USA and got an email address for their marketing dept. I'll let you know what they say about this.
edit: received a reply from the Intel France rep.
Quote:
Dear Winner,
Based on winners’ feedback of the core i7 contest, it happens that an internal operational mistake happened during the prize delivery process.
---The order of Core i7 Extreme Edition processors has been changed to Core i7 920.
We want to sincerely apology for this.
We are now in working the process to make sure that you receive the right prize and value you won.
We will keep you informed.
Please call me if you want to have more information.
Best Regards, and please accept our apologies again, as this was not meant to happen.
We are taking all actions to make sure this will not happen again.
ye if i were you i would push for a 965 man, hope the problem gets resolved
Wow... but humans make mistakes - that's life! :D
Sure you all get the right prices soon. My games has still not arrived.
I recieved my copy of Far Cry 2 a or to back. It's really nice for a once to win something but I really don't know what to do with my prize.
Ebay? Frisbee? :D
Any other contests like this? I usually don't win stuff, so it'd be nice to win something..
Its been 2 weeks since i got the email.. still no farcry 2
yeah that 920 deal is'nt right..
but more than likely they are going to send you either
A) Gift Certificate
B) A Check
C) 2 more 920's
D)15 Far Cry 2 Games
BTW... Call that number they gave you slugbug and tell us the "more information" they were claiming to have.
Me thinks more information means fubared; it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
I received a call from Tom at Intel USA two days ago and was told to call or email back if the Intel France guy did not reply in a timely manner. I think I'll do that right now.
I heard from a fellow Canadian who won a game and got screwed. They shipped it without the proper Customs documents and as a result UPS billed him $32.00. Of course he only found this out after they had delivered it without saying a damn word.
Same deal here as Slugbug...
Won the 965... got a 920.
Normally I'd be plenty happy with a free 920, however the idea of winning a Ferrari and receiving a Yaris is a little flawed.

Couldn't have put it better myself
Although for some reason I doubt it was an accident at all they we all got 920's. I hope Intel USA steps up to the bat and sorts this out for us quickly.
Hi all, registered here, just found this thread on google since I was wondering if this whole thing was a sham. Glad to see I'm not the only one having issues with this, I'm a FarCry 2 winner (Sargeras9), and still haven't gotten my game yet either. Answered the email requesting my personal info weeks ago, maybe it just takes a while for them to ship to the U.S.?
I'm in the same boat -- I would expect any packages shipping from Europe to the U.S. to take somewhere around 6-8 weeks. If we knew what the POSTMARK date was for others, we'd be better able to gauge how soon to expect our games.
Slug -- Do you still have the box they sent it in, and does it show when the label was printed? Also, I wouldn't count on overclocking that 920 much -- it's an EARLY batch 3836A983. The earliest batch that people seemed to consistently overclock well is 3841A... Also, have you contacted Intel U.S., and if so what did they say?
Got an update from the Intel France guy concerning the 965:
Hi,
Sorry!!!
Please be patient.
We are also waiting for the orders approval.
It should be soon.
Thanks & Regards!
Yinqiu
This is promising news... Hopefully the follow through is next.
If this pans out, I'll be a happy camper.
~ Gos
I still haven't opened the 920, but if they don't hurry up I just might have to  I'm still waiting to hear whether I have to return it or not. Tom at Intel USA suggested I not use the 920 until I know.
I received two emails from the french quarters crap but didn't trust it as there were misspellings throughout it as well as they wanted my address and what not which they already had. I already have Far Cry 2 so its not worth it to me to risk sending my info thru the email.
His first language is probably not English so that would explain the spelling mistakes. I won a CPU and never did receive an email asking for my shipping info. I received this from Tom at Intel USA today:
I was under the false assumption that since Intel USA is the world HQ that they would have an interest in hearing how other offices handle promotions :(Quote:
Of course, it's ultimately your decision whether or not you settle for the 920, but since the promotion originated from Intel, France, it also needs to be resolved by them.
North American Support does not have the ability to correct this prize award.
Intel France may still send us CPU winners the 965, but after reading that email from Tom I'm beginning to have my doubts.
That really sucks slug. That is crappy business practice right there.
I didn't respond to the email that they sent, since they already have my address. Should I?
Perhaps some emails to the Inquirer, The Register, DailyTech, Bit-Tech, etc would be enough to wake them up about this crap... it's BS...
Hi,
Just to let everyone know, I complained about this to the UK Institute of Sales Promotion, these are the people that deal with any complaints regarding competition wins. They could not help me because they only deal with UK based competitions but they have kindly passed the complaint onto the french equivilant who are now looking into the situation as Ubisoft do have a right to ensure we get the correct value prize.
I will update if I hear anything else
I just recieved another email from Intel
We have applied for the Ci7 extreme edition since two weeks ago. We are also urges to get the new Ci7 for the winners. But it is said there are not sufficient extreme edition Ci7s in stock now. They need to be produced and it takes time.
If you do not want to wait for any longer and agree to keep the Ci7 920, we can send you a Motherboard and several Ubisoft other games for remedy (like HAWX, Assassin's Creed, GRAW2, Cretin Lapin-Rayman, Splinter cell). If you really want to wait for the Ci7 965, we will send you one as soon as we get them (I don’t how long it will take). What do you think?
I just received the same email. I hope I'm wrong but I get the distinct impression that they had no intention of giving out 965 Extreme processors, and they're only offering to send us a motherboard and games because we complained loudly enough. I'm going to ask for a DX58SO motherboard, and another 920
Seriously though, it's kind of negligent to sponsor a contest and then not have the prizes put aside for it don't you think. Just my two cents.
Sucky news guys...... laura don't take that offer, after all settling is about a $700 loss, and no motherboard+games can make up that difference. I'd wait for it unless you really want to finish your build now....in that case, on the bright side at least you still got an awesome processor for free! and the motherboard too if they send it to you....
I'm still here, waiting for my copy of Far Cry 2 after what.....2-3 months now? ridiculous. And btw, yeah, I did respond to the email and gave Yinqui Wu (or whatever his name was) my personal info....
I received an email from Tom at Intel USA who mentioned he received the same email from Intel France. I replied and expressed my disappointment at how their French office has handled this whole affair. I really expected more from such a reputable company
I have told him I would be happy being sent more 920s to make up the value but failing that would like to wait for the 965. They are possibly hoping we will settle for less but I'm not giving up just yet ;) good luck all
Yeah I still have not received my copy of Far Cry 2. Very shady actions from a reputable company.
I'm not taking an offer like that... I want the CPU I won fair and square.
It's just downright shady the way things are going... i'm pretty unhappy with how this has turned out so far... I'm hopeful it will get rectified, but at the moment i'm rather pessimistic about the affair.
Wait a second; Is he saying they don't have enough Ci7 EE's for the 30 people that won them in the contest, or for all 1,530 people who had their names drawn in the contest? I can see not having 1k+, but 30? I smell some BS on that.
As for it taking so long to get the FC2 to those of us in the U.S., I can see it taking 6-8 weeks from the time it shipped, meaning that if they went out at the beginning of March, we in the U.S. may not have them until April or May. I know it sucks, but that's how international post is.
As for the handling of the situation, it seems to me that the contest was dreamed up and setup by the marketing department, and then at some point handed off to the/an intern from the marketing office (Yinqiu Wu)...
At this point, I'm not really sure how I should proceed; On the one hand, being the squeaky wheel may get me some grease (and some pretty sweet grease at that), but I don't think I'd feel right doing that, as to my knowledge I didn't 'win' said sweet grease..... Meh.
As for you all holding out for an EE, While it is what I'd do in your situation (given that I can score a 920 that will overclock better for 230 USD from a local retailer) don't be surprised if it takes another one to three months to get to you -- I was promised a product by a representative of a company at a convention once; the convention was in the beginning of November -- I didn't have the product in hand until the end of January the next year.
The core i7 965 finally showed up today :)
Yeah, as much as I really appreciate winning FC2, the excitement has really gone away. The other sad thing is Steam just had it for sale for $5 :(
My copy of FC2 showed up today, had totally forgotten about it.
Same here, second one showed up today
Already got two: a 920 and a 965
Ok, I never responded to that email that they sent out, asking for your name, address, etc, since we had already given that to them to register. Did anyone else who did the same receive their copies?
