+1:up:
Very nice work coolmiester! I'm pretty sure you've mastered the art of making anything look good.
beautifull,more pictures..............
What is involved in flame polishing? Just hit it with some heat until it just barely starts to melt and thats it?
Yeah just waft a blow torch over till it becomes shiny :)
As always, thanks so much for following and the feedback left
I know a few people seem to be getting a bit confused with regard to vents and side panels with me already having the panels powder coated and the vents being white.
Just to clear that up - i found a while ago that powder coat gives a great base for paint and gets rid of all the brushed anodised finish so that's why its been powder coated already.
The vents need to be secured in place and smoothed in with car filler (bondo) but will eventually be painted all the same colour.
Anyway, vents in place and started filling and sanding which usually consists of 3 or 4 goes to get it looking completely smooth but decided to lay a coat of primer on after the first go with filler just to show how far i'm off but it is easier to see the direction of the vent now its all one colour.....even though its just in primer.

looks very very nice coolmiester, but is there not a bit more sanding needed at the top part of the vent for the blend?
LOL, you just did what i'm usually so guilty of, not reading the text :D read the above text
Anyway, how cool is this???
I got to give a massive shout out to Willie at HWLabs for making me a one off GTX30 X-Flow Rad for the ATCs mod.
Over the years Willie has become a good friend and work colleague who simply put, just seems to love getting involved with my mods and this time is no exception.
He knows i tend to go for an X-Flow Rad as it makes for much easier hose routing so this time when i asked for something special he came up with the idea of having a total one off GTX which is just amazing of him to construct it for me.
As you can tell, i'm pretty happy.....and rightly so in my book as there is not many manufacturers that will go to this extent so hats off to you Wille

keep going ...
Wow, a one off! The HWLabs rads look exceptional, the finish is second-to-none.
I'm enjoying this mod CM, keep at it.
too bad the hwlabs single pass isn't truly designed to be single pass.
WOw nice top on that cpu block! Where did you but the Delrin stock?
simple and good looking delrin top:up:
Wow, it all looks so great!
Cheers all
Sorry, for keep harping on about this and i promise this is the last and i'll get onto something a bit more exciting ASAP.
Anyway, i made a matching NB block and had the blue heatsinks changed to black so looks much better imo.
OK that's it...no more!!!!
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/atcs_840/i7_block_22.jpg
I kinda liked the contrast the blue heatsinks gave the board, but I have a feeling you'll be adding some color in your typical elegant manner.
Those delrin tops you made are top notch!!
What kind of clamps are you using? I hope it's evil's, those would look great on that
Pm evil-98
the blocks look nice.
i love your work man, fantastic.
Started to do a bit of work on the new top grill.
Started with a 6mm sheet of aluminium and the plan is to replicate the front piece which was always going to be interesting as the original front is extruded alu and i had to copy it with a sander!!!
I did try with my little mouse sander but i'd have been lucky to make CeBIT next year at that rate so went and hired a heavy duty sander.
Well that made short work of it but it was a work of art to get the chamfer perfect all the way down the length and not sure if it was pure luck or skill but got there in the end then finished it off with fine grit and my little mouse sander.
I've also had the same cut (only smaller) in the front section which will both have mesh added later.
I'll get the last couple of bits to powder coat tomorrow and all in all i seem to be getting there and i should have it off for paint at the back end of the week......touch wood.

coolmiester, I have a quick question. How did you install your dual bay reservoir? Did you have to cut or push the 5.25" drive bay tabs down?
BTW, everything looks amazing.
Looking great cant wait to see it finished.
Coming along very nicely CM! :yepp:
My apologies for this going on for so long but unfortunately its at that boring stage of just getting it all primed and wet sanded ready for paint.
I had hoped to get it down there today but a few of the bits were late getting to powder which had a knock on effect but it should all be ready to go early next week.
The top vent has turned out pretty nice though again its waiting for primer and i'm also making some shiny highlight rails for it.
On a positive note though, Zotac have me some real nice cards coming but won't be here till mid February so gave me a 9800GTX to get the system up and running with for the time being which was nice of them and my friends at Intel have got involved but more on that later.
Anyway a few pictures of it in primer......well most of it.....

gorgeous coolmiester! your final color will be? or is that classified? :D
Outstanding work CM!
I love it, I just ordered the first stage of my own i7 rig.
One black Coolermaster ACTS 840, One Asus Rampage 2 Extreme, and one Thermaltake Toughpower 1200watts. I hope it will turn out half as good as yours.
For me, this is what modding is all about, there is nothing more satisfying than making something out of basically nothing and i'm never happier than with a piece of aluminium and a few tools.
I've made one for now but there will be one either side of this one, slightly shorter in length and there will be another three for the front section so i best get a wriggle on.

Slick! Sick! Silk! No, Sleek!
That's awesome
that has a very nice detailing touch cool, and the modding by hand is the top notch
Wow, looking awesome!
really artistic:oscar:
Nice! Where did you get the vents?
Your work is art.
your work is art and sexy
The execution is excellent especially at the waterblock tops. Another modding classic in the making :).
wow thats some amazin work....
Very nice work mate, I love what you did to this case. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger and buy this case. Of course I'll powder coat the interior black also :) So how do you like it so far? did you noticed better temps with the 2 big 23cm fans or 3 120mm fans, thanks :)
First of all i got to thank Intel for again making another killer mod possible by getting me a hand picked i7 965 CPU so at least while the rest of the case is away getting painted i can hopefully get the system up and running all be it on the bench and without the final GFX cards but its a start in the right direction as there is only 21 days to go.
Well, these simple little rails turned out taking a lot longer to complete than i'd originally thought but they are done now and look great so i'm well pleased with them and its another box ticked ;)

@ Oupavoc - absolutely love the case but no idea on temps just yet
CM, do you think that with a bit of modding a quad rad could fit on the top?
That looks awwwwwwwwwesome! How did you attach the rails??
there's that CoolMiester touch! excellently executed fitting with the style of the case as well as the signature of a CM build :up::up:
Coolmeister, I really love your style and taste.
Not really sure tbh but its certainly big enough though there is the pop up IO panel and on / off / reset button that would need to be taking care of
Only double sided tape for the time being but will be drilled and tapped once back from paint though i would have to say that 3M tape is "super duper" sticky and would probably be fine tbh.
Cheers SNiiPE, i do try
Thanks headala, can i just say, i get a totally free hand to mod these cases in any such way i please and for me this is taking an already nice looking case (well. apart from that top grill) and just try to put my own slant on the whole thing so it is still instantly recognisable and remains a Coolermaster ATCs with some very subtle changes that maybe enhance it slightly but i don't try morph it into something that would be unrecognisable which i guess is the reason i keep getting asked to do another
I love your polishing work. Any tips?
I think the case is coming together so nicely it hardly looks like a Coolermaster ATCS 840 anymore.
the things you do to those cases are amazing :D
Cheers all for the coments
I don't think we have Mother in the UK but i use a polishing soap which is like a waxy stuff and comes in different grades.
Start off with brown which is like a general polish then go onto the blue which is much finer for aluminium then a final hand polish with Peek polish which gets out any final swirls left by the bench polisher.
Doesn't take too long but i was getting a bit sick after doing six :(
I've never been so indecisive about what colour to paint a case so i've done a quick photochop to give some kind of idea what it would look like.
The safe bet is to go with black but i've already done black with the Cosmos so was thinking about being a little more adventurous but if it turn out bad there isn't any time to change my mind so i'd be stuck with it.
Gloss Black or Candy Red??
........oh decisions, decisions
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/atcs_840/atc_black.jpg
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/atcs_840/atc_red.jpg
Usually i would pick the black one... but for this case i pick red.
i think there's too much black cases out there... a red one would twist things a little bit :P
what about a red case but keep the grills black (as they are currently).
Good idea Rise though i'm not too sure it works in practice
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/atcs_840/atc_red_black.jpg
red and black very nice.
i think some blue&black will make it butty with the mobo.
Such a great looking build . Personally I like the gray and black, or if you do silver and black. I like the simplicity of the color combo
I think you'd need to tie it together with some sort of black decals or graphics elsewhere, tbh. Black Bays would work, but I have a feeling you aren't heading in that direction, so what if you put a black stripe around the case window? Or something along those lines... you know, matching your belt with your shoes :p:
I went ahead and pulled the trigger and ordered this case, I really like what you did with the front fan cover coolmiester :)
CM,
The aluminum would lend itself nicely to Ferrari red if you can get close to it.
That Intel board is really good looking - but the Bloodrage inside this baby with either black or red would just be :slobber:
The black looks more elegant. Reminds me of a nice expensive black car as all your paint jobs do.
The red one is more... unusual.
BTW amazing work as always.
I love the idea of the silver stripes. Really you should change this into some aston martin theme case or something given you have already made one for the SLR
wanna try the front shield white and the whole case black(including the grills)?
Red and black got my vote there. Or what about black and red what would that look like?
i choose red..but id go with a darker red/maroon color imo
50/50 we dont seem to be helping much here :D
I can't decide, I see your dilemma CM, a big one indeed
My vote is going for Glossy Black. Looks sophisticated, stylish, and and your mods makes it stand out as it is. Would look great in black.
Yeah thanks for all those that voted though 50/50 was to much of a close call so i ended up taking it to the painters this morning and decided on Ardent Red which is a Lotus colour and should look OK satin black grills and chrome rails...........i hope!
I'll find out in a couple of days if i made the right choice :D
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/atcs_840/ardent_red.jpg
At this point you could probably pull anything off the case looks so darn good. So this is a powdercoat or an automotive paint job?
beautifull car,you have some money
awesome choice!
*eagerly waiting for the outcome of the painting*

great color, going with some black ? ;)
wow.... just wow! that red is amazing... it came out better than i imagined!
awesome paint job!
you really have talent for this. :D
OMG that amazing paint. Plx show us more pictures ;p
Wow this looks great, you have some awesome modding skills.
Well that was an experience..............i thought it would just fly together but it turned out like trying to do the Rubik's cube all over again.
Anyway, i made a start and just had to get a few pictures before actually adding the hardware but i got to say, its definitely RED
Here we go to round the week off.............

im stunned for words!
Simply awesome. Are you going to do anything with that optical drive?
thats awesome work.
Wow - I'm loving that. The red and your mods have made the HAF into a very cool case. What you've done really suits the base case, and makes it special. Looking forward to seeing it with the insides hooked up.
amazing work CM.
the painting is very smooth(at least it seems to me)
WOW. The case looks great and that is a nice shade of red.
Outstanding job!!! And, i just got a "measely" Rocketfish case.... Ugh....:shakes:
