I do like the countersunk screws on the fans. Simple, yet genius! :D
Yeah that's a nice and original solution for your fans :D, but don't you need to fasten the mid part of your rad mount?
In the vid it's shaking like hell, and with a little more mass (filled with water) it will hit your chassis :(
stunning :D:
well, you got yourself custom made TJ07, but definitely different
i'm hungry of brilliant idea from you NysoO...
really can't wait for the final setup....
bring it on NysoO
Awesome! I love seeing projects like this come to life from a sketch :)
Thank you all! :)
What you see in the video is me tapping the radiator, which causes such a massive amount of vibration. You should know that fans don't create such vibration. The mass should not be a problem. Have tried pushing it down to the chassis and it takes a bit of force to get it down there. I would say like 2kg or so. Not a pressure that you will see with the water filled in.
Hey again guys, time for yet another update.
Not gonna talk to much so I'll just throw the pics and let them speak a little for themselves.
Hole for the 360 grill cut out.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7574.jpg
Will be using countersunk screws.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7575.jpg
Didn't like the look of the LCD display frame.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7580.jpg
So I lapped it into this
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7581.jpg
Both displays.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7582.jpg
The last grills need to have holes in the outer panel.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7588.jpg
And cut out.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7589.jpg
Gonna mount this bezel on the lower back of the case. The button is for the dvd-drive (I will solder extension cables from inside of the dvd drive). The LCD's will be showing water-temp and air temp or such. The switches are for switching between different sensors.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7590.jpg
And the back.

It's getting closer and closer :D
cant see pics!! anyone else having this problem??
pics are broken :(
but these work!
http://www.techsweden.org/galleri/67rv-aluchill/
The creator of the host told me that it was gonna work now but apperantly not, 1 sec and I'll get the regular host..
Nice progress you've made there :)
What are you going to post on the display's? Temps I suppose..
Ohh and btw what tools are you using to cut those holes so clean? A Jigsaw/handsaw/dremel...
Very nice!
PICS FIXXED!! woot nice job man.
I really like the counter sunk fan screws - like others have said, it is simple, and yet very effective.
Thanks guys!
Henry: That was my thought as well. It looks really nice, and in this case it serves its purpose very well.
Yezzziiiir you can booogie! Nice!
:eek2::eek2: Awesome work.
That is just so good. You make me envy
A-w-e-s-o-m-e
I must say it again: GREAT PROJECT! CONGRATULATIONS!
We're waiting by more photos! :D
That looks sick, I hope you aren't painting it. Silver with black grills is awesome.
 beautiful craftsmanship - i wish i had access to some more space....i.e. a basement or garage...filled w/ tools like that!
i'm loving all the details...down to every last countersink!
you must be very proud of what you are putting together (i on the other hand am green w/ n v)
Amazing work :)
Hello guys! Got some of the last details done before the case goes for a nice layer of powder coat. I went to a local powder coater and looked at some samples. Decided to go with a little more satin black rather than flat black. This is because flat black has a tendency to look more greyish than black. Also satin black has a little more depth in it.
Also forgot to take pictures of the mounting holes of the outer panel. Nothing exciting really so it doesn't really matter.
Here are some pixx for ya'll:
Got the dvd drive lined upp in the 5,25 holder. Drilled mouting holes for it and managed to get it more or less perfect.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7594.jpg
Glued the slot cover on the dvd-tray with some super epoxy.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7595.jpg
Got holes cut in the middle plate for cable routing, tubing and pump-mounting.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7596.jpg
Painted the LCD-display bezel
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7597.jpg
Soldered some extension cables on the dvd PCB.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7613.jpg
Which I tested the extended open-button with.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7615.jpg
Routing inside the dvd
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7618.jpg
Had to drill a hole for routing the cables.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7619.jpg
Which goes out at the back of the dvd. Drilled a hole and fitted a rubber grommet. Also got the cables sleeved.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7620.jpg
Soldered the LCD's power cables together and sleeved them.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7624.jpg
And the finnished bezel.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7627kopiera.jpg
A little clip of the dvd in action will be uploaded soon.
I love your no holes barred approach! It is stunning!!
You've brought scratch builds to a new level. Gone away from the cube case stereotype we see around which is completely fine, however seeing something different is very good. It proves that people produce new ideas and that the world can move on.
Well Done my hat's off to you
Oh my God... sleeving INSIDE the dvd drive. This build is getting pretty epic. Insane attention to detail!
Thank you! Glad ya'll like it :)
Wow you're doing a great job on this case, it looks damn good. I can't believe you built this from scratch, I guess some people are just that talented.
First let me say amazing.
The switches/lcds.. does that go on top of the case?
Also, you said you painted the cover black? but it looks like brushed anodized black.
Can you give me the info to what you did (steps, brand of paint, etc) That to me was the most shocking part.
Really impressed with the skill and creativity. This is coming along nicely - can't wait for more.
Hehe thanks. Yeah the cover / bezel was painted with "regular" spraypaint. I've used this method on a RPM guauge mounting bracket in my car and so far the paint have been holding on quite nicely actually.
What I do is nothing more than sanding the metal in one direction with some 120 grit paper (varying by how you want the surface to look like). Then I just spray a couple of thin coats with, in this case, CRC acrylic mat black pro paint (http://www.crceurope.com/csp/web/Pro...ess=AUTOMOTIVE)
When I removed paint from the counter sunk holes I could get a feel of how hard / easy the paint is stuck on the surface, and it's OK. Nothing like powder coat but it will be good on details like this one. I'm gonna make an experiment with some self etching primer, and then try to sand the brushed look on the primer. That would give the paint a bit more grip and if succesful, give it the brushed look as well.
Hope that answers your question :D
Okay. This'll be a small update but It's about those small things that makes a big difference. Had to figure something out for my harddrives so I built a suspension out of two Scythe Himuro HDD-coolers.
Mock up. The raptor is going to go on the top because of its tendency to create a lot of vibrations. So I thought it might need some extra suspension.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7641.jpg
And after a bit of measuring, drilling and threading we have got this
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7644.jpg
'Nother angle
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7645.jpg
Cut some holes in the mobo tray so that it'll be easier to remount the CPU block if needed. Also made a hole for the ATX+12v cables.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7646.jpg
And last. The panels cleaned up and "polished".
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7647.jpg
Um, maybe should avoid taking pics like these. I was afraid that it would come out wrong with the reflections etc. What you're seeing is panels treated for powdercoat. Still got a lot of water drops on them and the "scratches" is no way near deep. If you would hold the panels you would get a whole other opinion of them. Smooth like a babys bottom but "ruggade"-(engelska ordet?) so that the paint will stick on nicely. You'll see when I get them back from the powder coaters :)
You're an artist! Your skills are fabulous, i will keep an eye on this thread.
What color powdercoat it's gonna be?
Thanks man! I left the parts with the powder coaters this morning. They're going to be satin black :)
very nice!
Sweet, Nice Work Here :)
Thanks. kinda need it now..
Okay, both good and bad news today. Got almost everything painted. Some parts I had to paint myself because they needed some bondo to make them look good. The good news is that the powder coat turned out really great, the bad news, well.. you have to see it for your selves further down in this update..
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7651.jpg
Filled the gaps between my stealthcover and the tray with some bondo and got some primer and paint on it.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7653.jpg
Same thing with the 5,25 bay
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7655.jpg
And the internal cover. I'm really happy with the results, taking in consideration that I'm painting this up here in sweden with a very cold climate.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7656.jpg
Had to bondo here to make a nice edge where it used to be a bend.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7658.jpg
Also got the frame primed and painted.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7660.jpg
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7661.jpg
Big box, exciiting hu? :D
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7662.jpg
Looking good :D
But then the disaster strucks. This was a seriously big shock for me. HOLY FU*KING PIECE OF SH*T!?!? What the FU*K dit the do to the panel? FUUUUU*K!!!
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7663.jpg
It's bent like a f*cking banana, what the hell happened here?
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7667.jpg
Holy sh*t
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7668.jpg
......................... :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::miffed::miffed::mif fed:
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7670.jpg
Other side was better, have managed to bend it back..
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7671.jpg
Obiously they hanged it wrong and didn't take in consideration that such large areas of sheet metal will bend easily when warmed up to 250 degress... They only suspended it in a single hole on one of the sides. This is the left side on this picture and It's much worse than on the other side which was just fine.....
Oh well, the paint is awesome though. Have to think something out for the outer panel. Gotta contact the company which coated this..
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7673.jpg
Panels and such looking very nice
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7677.jpg
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7680.jpg
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7681.jpg
Nice finish
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7683.jpg
Damn..
really sorry to hear that man, i'm sure you'll sort it out somehow, you are a modder, arent you ;)
That sucks :(
The black finish looks very sharp.
I didn't realize how many pieces there were to this build. :p:
That stinks that they bent the top, but worst comes to worse, you are a the one who modded it, so I'm sure it wouldn't take you too long to whip it up again and send it back to them for a free powdercoat. They did it wrong, so they should redo it free of charge.
Hopefully you can get the kinks out.
Nyso,
Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I have had my fair share of it lately too.
Your work is truly outstanding and very creative. I especially love the HDD enclosure.
dude, that sucks! I can't believe they did that. And then just packed it like 'hmm hmm, he won't notice la la la '. That really blows. I hope that you can get some money back or something. . . .
damn :(
well, i have faith that if anyone can remedy the situation, it's you :yepp: so get to it! :)
Where did you order your motherboard tray from ?
Many Thanks
Ninja
Thank you all for your support, It makes one feel better.
Darkninja462: Bought it from "Dustinhome.se" here in sweden. It's a replacement tray from lian li, should be available in your country as well.
Neither the less, went back to the powder coaters today and got a really good "treatment". They were very understanding and are going to let a sheet-metal worker look at it. If he can't fix it they'll laser cut and fabricate a new one for me.
ahh ok thanks mate I can only find one seller in UK but he's out of stock.
Ninja
Spyrious: Yeah I hope they'll sort it out. Would be an irritating set back if they wouldn't.
Unicorn: Thanks man. As I said, I really hope they'll be able to sort things out cause I don't have the extra material needed for a new panel. But I'll start assembling the computer withough the outer panel. After all, it's the last piece to go on.
trucha: Cheers! Thank you for your compliments.
Final assembly starts
I'm really excited as this project is closing in further and further. It's so fun to see things come together and so far I'm extremely happy with the result. All the bolts and nuts suit this case so nicely.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7685.jpg
Parts on the table. Sorry bout the dvd-drive beeing a bit dusty. Missed that out.

It's a bit funny how factory made all the panels feel. It gives you that extra pleasure when assembling.
I want to point a HUGE thanks to Sifvert for providing me with all the bolts and nuts needed for this project. Thank you!

And a final teaser for today.
Do you know if the website where you ordered your motherboard tray ships to England ? as I cannot read Swedish lool.

omg!
beautifull!!
i think this will look better if you use the white fans in front instead of black
Nyso,
I am following along with great interest. Brilliant work!
:eek2:
Masterful work!!!! I really like the attention to EVERY little detail! The DIY from scratch case, countersunk fans, custom DVD fit, custom fan controller, etc....SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
Keep up the good work!
This case exemplifies my sig.....it takes a LOT of work to make it look simple!
Thank you! Killer, I think I'll stick with the black fans :)
Oh well, another update for ya'll. Basically I've continues with the assembling. Got the whole front finished. Took a bit of time to get the dvd lined up properly in the slot on the front. Have sleeved as many cables as I had time to and mounted the pumps and moboslide. Also mounted the LCD-bezel at the back.
http://www.bandwidth.se/imgs/39/226/img7705.jpg
LCD-bezel mounted with counter-sunk insex bolts.

And a final pic for today :)
Looking really REALLY good! Absolutely loving it!
~Bex
I'm totally liking this build :D
This looks so good in all black with the polished screws, I've also didn't painted the screws black in my V1200 just to create a nice contrast :)
But these fans are looking real nice this way, but you are pushing hot air into the case in this situation :O
Thanks. Well the fans are directed so that they push air into the case yes. But this is why I have separated motherboard and such with the internal cover, so the air will flow right out at the side. Thought it was the most common way to push fresh air thru the radiators, instead of pulling warm air from inside of the case.
awesome stuff.. that is some really great work.
for a second there, I was a little lost in the last pic. I was trying to figure out why that pci bracket was out of place and where your mobo tray went. Then I realized the full tray was just sitting behind the case, not installed. lol
beautiful :)
NysoO, did you play around some with the display and it's software? I couldn't get Asus Probe II, MBM5 and Speedfan to work. Everest and RivaTuner was a half@ss job.
Perhaps it's due to these progs not being optimized for AMD though.
Your build looks amazing although i find the hexnuts on the front stand out a little too much, it would look better if those were black imho. Keep up your excellent work!
I had a reply bout 24hours after I sent the email, they sent me a list of where I could purchase one in the UK which there was only 1 .
Unfortunately there out of stock :( , so I shall email them and find out when there back in stock :) hopefully soon.
Ninja
Edit:
Looks absolutely amazing Nyso0 can't wait to see it finished, and its helped me a lot with the planning of my scratch build.
I must say that I am really impressed by your build. It takes a lot of time and attention to detail to make a case that looks good AND functions well. I can see from the pics that you have really spent the time to sweat the details, and what you have it turning out very nice.
Great work. Probably the best case build from scratch I've ever seen. I'm interested to see how you finish it all off.
Wow, simply wow. Can haz ur case?:ROTF:
Thank you!
Talked to the powder coaters today and the outcome was not too pleasing. The sheet metal worker said that It would be impossible to fix the panel perfectly. And he told me that the guys that would have lasercut a new panel for me was filled upp their asses with work, so it would take a long time to get it done. However, he offered me a 140$ compensation, a new piece of sheet metal, discounts if I would like to powder coat something in the future and a new free session of powder coat on the new outer panel.
So i have to fabricate a new panel which sucks.. will take about ~18 hours to fabricate a new one. But I'm going to try bending the old panel as good as possible and see if it can do as a temporary panel.
Any who., have finished the hardware and internal build to say 98%. It started up and is working great. Great temps and silence. Just got to do some sleeving etc. Anyways here are some extra large candy shots for ya'll. This time I'm going to let them speak for themselves.

Again, THANK YOU for your support throughout the build so far
I don't know if you'll notice, but I skipped the internal cover and went with an open view. Wanted to see the pumps and wanted the case to be a bit more flexible. No bigge.
Man that kicks ass... :D
Don't know what to say actually, because this is one of the best builds(top3) i've followed on XS
Also your powdercoater had imho a great solution for your panel.
EDIT: I suppose you still have to sleeve the 2 powerconnections for your second GFX :P
Roodbaard, yep thats the 2% left.. there are some kind of lump on the cable which makes it impossible to get a good look. Any ideas of how to fix that? It certainly is annoying :D
WOW  this build is amazing! Don't know why I seemed to miss it :slap:
Keep up the fantastic work
WOW so amazingly fantastic :) love it
Me likes!
Maybe those lumbs are resistors, it could also be something plastic that doesn't has a task :P
I think that someone else with a sleeved HX1000 can confirm this.
Omg is that amazing. I'll write more later, but I'm loving the design and the powdercoat.
care for me to report this to MDPC??
i love the lcd. You've accomplished everything your render looked like and more!
the case looks positivly amazing, you deserve a cookie :toast:
so pure ... :o, and so neat, just a little bit to much black, but that's my personal opinion, no discussions about taste, but I still like it very much :D
BEAUTIFUL:clap::clap::clap::up::up::up:
I like it. For a hand built case the finish and buold quality is beyond factory-spec.
WOW
~Bex
superb craftsmanship!
More pics are needed. :)
This must be one of the most spectacular builds I've ever seen. :)
Making something from a scratch and executing it with a quality that puts most of the casemaker companies to shame is really... really impressive. I can't even find words to put it right.
shame about the panel, but you'd be better off making a new one - you don't want to drag down the integrity of the build. If you can't make it perfect again by rebending, you'll just regret the case everytime you look at it, because you'll know it's not perfect.
Keep doing it right. You've done so much now, don't let a setback stop the perfection of what you've created.
What did you put around the edge of that cut?
this case deserve to be in MDPC...
so many great effort, so many brilliant ideas, complete step by step process, and an absolutely stunning finishing for the case..
you should really proud of what you've builded there NysoO.. a masterpiece..indeed
wished we're neighbor, perhaps i can borrow that hardtools from you, to build my own case :D...
you really got my respect man...great job
where did you purchase your tapping equipment from ?

Boogerlad: Thank you! I like it too :) Very useful when benching if you wanna keep an eye of volts and temps if you don't have dual screens.
Just a noob: Thanks, a cookie would be awesome :D
Vatos_locos: Hm okay. Well the other cables arent supplied with those so I guess you could remove them without worrying too much right?
Oli4v: I respect your opinion. But of course we all have different taste so you can't please each and everyones taste, good thing you still like it tho! Personally I think it looks really slick with all the shiny bolts and details.
omaryunus: Thanks! :)
Tile: Good thing you like it!
ECG_Bex: :up::)
LogAn'sRun: Thank you for the support. It's a bit :banana::banana::banana:ty having to rebuild that panel but I'll have to see it as a final step in the build. Just hoping it will survive the new powdercoat. Don't know what I would do if it would fail again. I'll just have to look at it as a mild set back :)
masxerofkartis: What cut? You mean at the back of the motherboard-tray? If so, it's called "C-strip". Rubber C or U strip.
charles_h: Thank you for looking by Charles, you know I respect what you do so it's really an honor to get your compliment :)
MF Traum: Thank you! Thank you very much! Really appriciate it.
anubis_is_evil: Cheers m8! I guess I'll have to make a trip with my tools. Anything particular that I should see in indonesia whilst beeing there? :D
Darkninja462: Hm, I got a little set of taps that my father bought a couple of years ago. Managed to destroy the m4 tap in it so I bought new ones at Clas Ohlson. Taps should be available at any local hardware store.
Simply stunning Nyso!
