Oh aren't you a tricky one. You're such a tease. :p:
Still can't wait to see the full picture, those cuts look pretty straight and those bars look pretty thin.
Xs for sale section ;) there are some major deals that pop up in there if you keep your eye on it every day :yepp:
mhmm, I just need to do some finishing filing to remove the entry cuts and I will get some full pics up to y'all ;)
And I reveal the side panel:
The S in the original design had to be removed because the waterjet's software couldn't handle the complex spline from the dxf file.

As you can see the water jet has in-cut areas and because I was unaware of this headed to the cutter with my .dxf I had not drawn lead-ins to avoid the marks. After I get my hands on a set of files tomorrow at the depot you will barely even be able to tell they were ever there. :yepp:

>.< so I went to go put the 420GTX into the case today...... just my luck it doesnt fit in the 5.25" bays, nor will it fit anywhere else in the case.... :(
so I'm about top call Gary to discuss a radiator exchange (the thing is brand spanking new, I just took it out of the box lol). As of now it looks like I will have to break my boycott against feser and go with a 480 from them..... :( I really dont like the idea of buying from such a nasty greedy company as them but I suspect the PA120.4 is still quite a few months off :\
The Feser 480 is slightly larger than the GTX 420.
Nice, lucky man :) I got a Feser 480 from the GF but I've yet to open it :P
Here is the not fitting GTX 420, well it was cool to think I would be using a unique radiator in the beginning :\

more to come a bit later tonight :)
A note to anyone considering the P80 as their next case: The fans are VERY silent and blow lots of air, its quite amazing really I never thought I would receive such nice fans stock in a Lian-Li case ;)
WOW!!!
Love the blue/black/white scheme.
keep the pics comin'

Thanks for reading guys :)
the next project I have is painting the shroud then disassembling my old rig (after I backup C drive), then you guys are gonna get to see some sleeving madness on the HX1000 :D
That is a slick looking case Sniipe Dogg. I really like the contrast.
don't worry SD i'm watching ya, keep up the good work!
Lookin good man
Beautiful SniiPe! :bows:
So how are you solving the other Rad problem?
How many Rads your using on total now?
I think I will be getting a feser 480 for that spot..... but its not final yet, it depends on how much space I decide I'm going to need in the next few days.
I could also jump on the MCR320 sandwich again which would cost me nothing and I could afford to get a HwLabs GTX140 for the roof and a third loop in the case....
not sure where to go on this one:confused::confused:
With the theme I have chosen and knowing that I will have uv blue yates in that shroud, should I paint the shroud flat white or should I leave it the nice semigloss powdercoated black it is?
Thanks for the kind words guys! another day another set of photos at least, I'll try to get sleeving action going today
awesome :) great paint! love that front side black&white combination
nice good paint a like the colors
post more photos
Enjoying this one ... can't wait to see the finished product.

Project Status: I will be at school from tomorrow until the middle of december so I wont be posting more updates until then, at least no major ones that is ;)
for anyone who sees this: please help me decide on the questions I asked in the earlier post:
With the theme I have chosen and knowing that I will have uv blue yates in that shroud, should I paint the shroud flat white or should I leave it the nice semigloss powdercoated black it is?
love the white sleeving, going to be an epic masterpiece. Subbed
I would keep it as it is Sniipe, it goes along with the black/white theme. Nice job on the sleeving!
That sleeving turned out great! And I would keep it as it is too, atleast then you have a change to paint it if you don't eventually like it.
Awesome build so far!
The pictures are very good too. The third to last one in #110 is just stunning!
I would also keep the shroud black. nice contrast that way.
Very beautiful black and white case!
Thanks shoop
good points guys, I agree I will stay with a black shroud it doesn't look out of place and while my flat white paint is nice, nothing really compares to powder in durability
thanks HESmelaugh :) rather than setting up a lightbox I have been playing with ambient+1 high powered work lamp. this is because I have a new LUMIX DMC-LX3. It's quite the incredible little point and shoot, great lens, great focus, and especially an intuitive powerful manual mode. Many of these pics look like the come from a handheld DSLR but in fact this little camera does it all :)
looks great, stay w/ black/white theme, get rid of the blu fan!
:yepp:
quick update here guys:
I got a new side panel to get re-waterjet cut because I was very dissatisfied with the cut on the last panel that had the in-cut markings. FrozenCPU.com was kind enough to let me purchase one of the reserve solid panels they have in stock but dont list on their website.
As you can see this time I opted to put masking tape on the exterior face as the slats in the waterjet cutting machine makes some rough scratches on the panel due to the pressure from the waterjet.
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/4374/perma20ou1.jpg
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/2672/perma21db4.jpg
Subscribed, I cant wait to see how this comes out. I love the whitc powder coat inside the case with the white sleaving, very origional!
Well guys, I made a successful trip to the waterjet cutter today :D the panel is in near perfect condition with the correct cuts!
there are some blemished areas where the waterjet reflected off of the slats and stripped some of the anodizing, I repaired it with black sharpie and as you can see in the pics the blemishes are barely noticable if at all
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/9638/perma22ny9.jpg
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5375/perma23eo0.jpg
Awesome looking panel!
Looks like there are little notches on the right side? Doesnt take away from the panel at all, though
that looks awesome man! how much time do you get on the jet daily? http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ilies/wink.gif
well, the way it works at my school is that students are not allowed to use the machines in the AML (advanced manufacturing laboratory) so I need to go through the one guy who is certified to run the machine by making an appointment. It works out well because for each individual job I get pretty much as much time as I need.
this panel was only 9 minutes of cutting, but it took about 2.5 hours to get the drawing file corrected (finicky software) and get the path set out right. the auto path mode was giving us trouble so we had to manually define incuts and path it out one section at a time.
this job totaled out at a whopping $4.62 for the cost of the abrasive used in the cutting ;)
The investment in your set-up really paid off. These are excellent cuts, and the overall result is spectacular.
rubidium
Now that looks great! I wish it could do the S, though. :p:
thanks all, and gratz ashraf on the admin status
little update here that is actually kind of old, I took these pictures with my phone at the waterjet machine, they are small but I thought you guys might like to see them :)
before cutting
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7...9368878ox1.jpg
during the cut, the sides are weighted down and the panel gets pretty well covered up with excess abrasive (special sand like material)
http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/9...9379136yy2.jpg
very cool process...
somewhat off subject, what camera do you shoot your pics with? (not the phone ones)
Side panel looks great!
Thats gonna look killer on the case
I hate you for having easy access to a waterjet =[
Looking great though!
+ Subscribed, nice panel & case:up:
+1 Looks like the Water Jet got a perfect cut this time
Can't wait to see this up and running by January (depending on Foxconn hahaha)...
Well guys I've just ordered a DFI UT p45 T3RS to test out my q9650 on.
I will have some test bench shots for this and hey if I feeling up to it I may just do some dual MCR 320 vs single MCR 320 testing for your enjoyment :D
Heres my solution for 5.25" bay rad mounting, hand made, no waterjet on this one.

AHHH! return of the PINK fan!!!!! :p::rofl:
http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8493/perma29ve1.jpg
this bench worked out great, I used this old cheap a*s guitar amp as the mounting tower for all my stuff and the rest of the construction is pretty self explanatory :)

were is the quad fire, u have the x2 and 2 4870
Looks good SniiPe!
Now give us some numbers :)
Love your work Sniipe:D
This is going to be sweeeeet=)
heh, i was just thinking if you were goin x58 this mobo would look great w/ the color scheme
:-P
Great work Snipe! But I am kind of disappointed... The reason is that I am building a new rig for about 3 months now, and today when I came up to your worklog on coincidence, it looked like im totaly copying you... :( so i am kind of in a bad mood now. Thats why i have decided that i am not going to write the worklog up to XS forums...
Nevertheless, I wish you luck at your project, because its comming up very nice!
glad you like it man, dont hold back on posting your rig just because its similar! I have been working at this for quite some time as well and as I went along amny others popped up with white themed rigs. but it doesnt mean they are copying me or I am copying them  Every builder here on XS takes ques from others, where do you think we all started individually wiring our atx connectors from? who had the original Idea to cut holes in the mobo tray? its all a cumulative effort by us all. When one person makes a groundbreaking build you can be sure that there are about 15 people he could go through and say "thankyou for making this build as great as it is"
its all about camaraderie and I hope you will post your log up here :)
-SNiiPE
I cant wait to see the end result. Nice work so far. Make sure that you post tons of pics.
I got so caught up in playing with my new motherboard on the test bench that I completely forgot about the build :p: not really but I haven't done all that much work ;)
here are the pics
The arced edge is supposed to be there, I didn't make it quite symmetrical but you cant see that edge with the mobo installed;)

for PCI-E power, you will see when this gets assembled

good lookin mobo tray!
rad shroud staying black?
Rad SANDWICH incoming
The 45 fittign ended up not fitting with the rads together between the fan. this is ok though because now I have a 25mm shroud before the push side which should increase performance
Once the MCR-320-S's come out then we will have the easy ability to run 2 rads on just 38mm thickness fans
Quick pictures, I've suddenly found my build hitting overdrive so I am doing a LOT of stuff

Its just too thick that thing. Why not use 1 fan in between instead of two?
Rad Sammich Nom nomnomnom
was wondering if any one could help me. I have the PC-P80 case w/ an EVGA X-58 mobo, a coolit freezone elite cpu cooler. But the vreg cooler on the mobo hits the freezone when I put the mobo into the case. the freezone mounts on the rear exhaust, in place of the 120mm fan.. can any one can help me with any fab ideas
So I kind of like this idea so I'm going to actually do it:
Zanzabar and I chill in ventrillo for at least a little while each day, sometimes all day, and we talk about computers and XS and all that good stuff. I figured it would be nice to invite all of you to come chat as well :)
IP: sindar.zebgames.com port 4013
Please come to the Frozentech OC channel and you may Idle and chat there. :D
Guidlines: Please set your name to XS-[xs-username-here] when joining the ventrilo, I own the server so we will not ban you if you do your username correctly. If you enter the ventrilo and do not specify yourself in some way as being XS then you will probably be banned.
hai snipe
just wondering why you use extender in that MCW30 ? can it be done with the BP 45's only ? or probably the BP 45's can't get with mcw30 coz it have countersunk in the thread ?.. i wanna do the same thing, but still confuse about it will fit or not..
thx..
the 45 by itself wont go into the housing on the MCW-30 and thus it wont seal beacuse of its sunken O-ring design. The ST transfer adapters have a non-sunk O-ring the fits in the MCW-30 with a nice and snug seal.
personally I think it looks better with the adapter too :)
Absolutely love the build. White and black is hella-gorgeous. Time to paint the swifty!
Missed this till now - great build
i'll vent it up
do you play wow, sniipe?
Yo guys so we got lyl in here chattin in Ventrilo with us and its a good time! you guys should all come join vent and we can all have a good ole watercoolin/overclockin/XS discussion!
Wow! thats nice build! keep it going:up:
Heres a little color combo preview, wanted to test it all out so here you go:

I need to find a headset, can't wait to verbally abuse all of my new found friends. :p:
I'm generally not a fan of mixing colors, but after I saw your rad sandwich, I regained all of my faith. :D
/Me like UV :D What i dont like is mixing colors, in your case i could make an exception since blue and green mix very nice  I realy cant wait to see more....
I though all blue would be awfully boring so I had to choose a second color and since the motherboard has UV green slots green was a prime choice :). there is going to be an intense amount of UV light in this case so it should be incredible looking when assembled ;)
oh and one more thing, there is about twice as much blue as there is green :D
Here is the 4870x2 voltmod, hope you guys like it :)
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/3913/perma52bv6.jpg
Nice voltmod,
What are the specs of the potentiometers?
edit: nm, i looked it up :)
So the time has come for another update! This time I decided to tackle the problem of hard drive mounting which I really like my solution to and I hope you do too :)
this update was shot with the DMC-LX3 again sothe pictures came out very nice :D
also you can see below the painting I did and the waterblock installed on the video card.
The subjects to be painted, prepped with 100 grit paper.

the end result:
http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/1...frost62bk1.jpg
I dont use these front ports anyway so I used some hex caps bolts and nuts to hold the plate in without the port hub behind it
http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/3...frost63iz6.jpg
A closed view:
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/6...frost64wf4.jpg
My hard drive mounting solution, its a v1000 drive cage chopped down to only 2 drive rails and mounted to a custom white plate of aluminum I made with the Nibbler and the drill
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/517...frost65oe5.jpg
the white plate is attached to the case support rails with clear adhesive 3M modders tape, this provides a gel sound damning and a clean mount look with plenty of strength
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3...frost66fz8.jpg
At the last photo there you can see the 8-pin CPU power as I've attached it to the PSU with the cables all flat and lined up, I used the 3m modder's tape to arrange these as well. As you can see it provides a clean and subtle method for organizing cables.
Next up I am waiting for an order to come in from performance-pcs with some rotary male-to-male fittings and the acrylic for the window. In the wait I think I will be working on mounting the reservoirs to the case and a few other small bits of work.
Hope you guys enjoyed the update and have a merry Christmas!
oohhh, aahhhh, coming along beautifully. I also love the blue and green combo.
Isnt the 4th and 5th photo the same?
Anyway... i always love to see progress on this build, keep up the good work
HDD mounting looks good
Very interesting and very nice build. BTW could you check if there could fit a vertical 120mm fan behind the psu? (perpendicular to the bridge) thanks
That looks fantastic Sniipe!
You should be very proud :D
Looking good Sniipe Dogg. I like the white cable sleeving, looks slick.
